I would like to see too, but if i decide finally if i can handle weight of 17 and choose dv7 over asus n43 which i've been waiting for since january - i will have it by the end of week. But for now i can't decide ...

If only someone could tell me how warm or loud can old dv7 with i5 or i7 get. And how big fingerprint magnet this umber finish is...

on the hp website, there is a demo video of the dv6tqe that has a very good look at what the umber color is like rather than just pictures.

The HP site shows a black laptop...very misleading, if you look at the pics, they are much more brown and glossy then the HP demo and pics. :/

My DV6T quad also shipped today. Ordered on March 14th. After over a week or trying to cancel the order on the phone with them (I ordered a DV7T Quad instead) they still shipped it. Unreal.

However, they say the return process is relatively painless. Except for the part where I have an extra $850 sitting on my CC until they process my return. Ugh!

Mine was expected to ship today and according to HP's website, it has. However, I do not believe that fedex has actually picked up the shipment yet. I hope it makes it to Minnesota before the end of the week. I can't remember how long it took with the other two HP's I purchased in the past.

Just for grins I took a look back at my old HP TX2500Z order from 2008.

I received shipping notification (standard 5-7 day FedEx shipping) on 9-23-2008. I had the laptop in-hand on 9-26-2008. I believe that was even from Shanghai.

So there is a pretty good chance that if it shipped/was picked up today you might receive it this week still!

Does anyone know if this series of laptops supports switchable graphics? I know that Lenovo's Y-series laptops (comparable to the dv6 dv7 series) announced, albeit quietly, that due to a design flaw they will not support switchable graphics. Is this the same for HP?

From what I have read it supports switchable graphics but its a manual operation using the catalyst control panel, not automatic switching like optimus. This could be better or worse depending on how you look at it. lol.

If it brings you any comfort, the 550M should be slower (maybe even significantly) than the 6770M. It's based on DDR3, whereas the 6770M is DDR5.

If you bump up to the 555M you may be getting closer - but the XPS 17 sample that is shown on notebookcheck also has a 555M with, you guessed it, DDR3.

Me too.. I'm like... holy cr**, I've gotten absolutely no update on how much more delayed it is and I would honestly much rather they just upgrade my computer to free next business day shipping instead of giving me a stupid 15% coupon. I've been told that my computer order is not listed on a "delayed order list" and to check back in 24-48 hours since FedEx does not update their systems on the weekend, is that the general consensus on what people have been told by their CSR?

Yea those HP reps are useless.
First she tells me its delayed.
Then it is stuck in customs?
Then she says the general just wait for an email with tracking info, and backs off the other comments.

I know its not the reps fault, but I wish I felt like I was talking to a person instead of a robot with copy and paste answers.

XPS 15 has industry poorest internal design.
LOOK at its super long distance pipes, u know why they have super low starting points.

Even a super low endi laptops(in china), has much better internal designs

Well, Dell needs to hire some new engineers to rethink its products
Maybe they should hire some apple staffs, or lay off those super old non-brain engineers.............

Dell's product design is disaster, has been proven all those years. And well.. Sony and Lenovo engineers would be better than some fruit company's I guess.
XPS 15 and 17 have higher resolution screen but about $300 more expensive than HP at same spec.

XPS 14 is ok, not bad at all. (internal design)

But 14 had $100 more than 15
I was so surprise why they made these marketing till I seen their internal designs...

Obviously, dell knows xps15 is ****

Friday night, my fan got really loud, and sounded very mechanical, not just as if it was spinning faster. I immediately shut down the system and restarted. This fixed the problem, but it still doesn't sound as smooth as before.

The loud sound happened again once after the first time.

Right now the fan is fine, aside from an extremely quiet noise I cant describe, but I know it wasn't there before.

I usually just close my laptop to put it to sleep to stop the problem. The last time I did this however (not very long ago, maybe a few minutes), I happened to touch the left palm rest beside the mouse pad. Upon doing this, I felt a vibration that wasnt there before touching it. Could this possibly mean my hard drive is having issues?

When shutting the system down when the problem is taking place, the last thing I hear is what sounds to be the fan stopping, but it sounds more like the grinding / mechanical sound, but it sounds as if it is running out. This is making it hard for me to tell if it is the fan or the hard drive causing the problem.

You're forgetting that the 555M has a wider bus (192-bit vs. the 6770M's 128-bit) and possibly faster GPU performance. The 555M actually might be faster, even with DDR3.

Yes, 555M GT got somewhat between 6750M and 6850M at 3DMark Vantage, could be better than 6770M but not very far.

Update. My delivery date pushed back to April 5th, again.
And as I mentioned, I ordered dv6qe at March 13th.

It takes more than 4 weeks to get a laptop, is it that worthy?
My patience fading out. ugh... I think I should get a rewards like backpack for late delivery. This is ridicules.

Also got delivery estimated for 4/5. Ordered on 3/14 with estimated shipment today. I think they probably have a mass shipment leaving Shanghai today so all those people who ordered on 3/13 and had shipment for 25th march seem to be lumped with the later orders

I just tried to match mine. (which would have been $952 at 30% off, but I actually paid $810)
I came up with $965, and the Dell only has one battery (the big one). It's also missing the blu-ray player, just has a CD/DVD burner.
