That would be good news for us dv6 buyers.

What is going on here? All this "He she is lieing", "No I am not"
The screenshot could certainly be faked, but it is more likely that the screen shot is legit. Looks like a quick paint edit to remove the order number and tracking information, which i'd do as well. So... Anyway. Lets hope for the best people. -

Hello everyone. I just purchased the HP dv7tqe for $875 + tax (around $940) with the following specs:
2nd generation Intel Quad Core i7-2630QM 2.0GHz
6GB DDR3
750GB HDD
17.3" 1600 x 900 diagonal HD+ HP BrightView LED Display
1GB Radeon HD 6490M GDDR5 Graphics
HDMI
VGA
Blu-ray player & SuperMulti DVD burner
WiFi N
6-Cell Lithium-Ion Battery
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Good deal??? I was thinking about upgrading the battery to 9 cell for $30 and the graphics card to 6770M for $25, but I decided against it. I don't game much (at all actually) and rarely ever use my laptop without being connected to AC power. -
The tensions are running a little high in here. We'll all get our laptops eventually. Everyone is obviously post from "something" so it isn't like you don't have a computer.
-
-
I'm still ticked at myself for losing the DV7 I had in my shopping cart with a $0 6770m on it last weekend. -
Has anybody scheduled for a 3/25 ship date talked to an HP rep yet? I just talked to somebody in the Resolutions department, with a bull "wait 24-48 hours" response, and she said it is likely there is a delay since it still shows "Order in Production." Well, glad I needed an HP rep to tell me that. So, after unvoluntary cancellation of first dv7t because of Intel chipset issue and now this, I'm thinking of just canceling an getting a Dell XPS. Anybody heard anything about the Dell XPS? Worth getting?
-
I don't ever buy a Dell anything that's a desktop replacement. Wikipedia Inspiron 5150 to find out why.
-
The DV7tqe order status, for my March 13th purchase, is still showing estimated ship date for the 25th with no tracking number. I'll keep you all updated if there's any action. Oh yeah, and I promise I'm not lying.
-
Deadline for return/exchange extended! I received an e-mail from HP giving May 15 as the deadline for repair/return/exchange of the SB Couger point issue computers. This seems to be a change from their previous announcement of April 30 being the deadline.
-
All this "drama" makes me laugh. And threats of cancellation...hehe. I'm sorta bummed because I ordered my Dv7 on the 13th, but got a 4/4 ship date because I had to send back defective Dv7. Oh well, it ships when it ships people. =)
-
Let me know if you get a email for HP if it's been delay or if they ship it I hope they ship them.let me know bro thx.
-
Does anyone know the specs on the HD camera for the Dv6t? How many mp? The xps is selling with an HD 2.0 MP is the only reason I ask, something about skype certified HD video. I'm plan on using the camera quite extensively for work.
-
-
Interesting.....
I'll check in on that....I might just end up with an Envy..... -
Wait the dv7t series is defective???
-
I do find it funny that there's so much drama over a couple of people saying they got their tracking number. Why so jealous much, I ask. lol -
Does the radeon 6770m in the new dv6SE with dual core SB procs have hybrid switching. I don't see that mentioned anywhere on HP's site?

Anyone from Singapore here? Harvey Norman already been selling newest DV6 model since last 2 weeks. Priced at SGD1699 iirc, that's around USD1350(!).
Core i7 2630QM, 4GB but free upgrade to 8GB DDR3, 1GB DDR5 HD6770M, 750GB 7200RPM hdd, bluray/dvd combo drive, Beats speaker, fingerprint scanner, 1 year warranty.
Main problem I noticed is the build quality vastly inferior to previous DV6. Previous model whole body constructed from aluminum, something similar to macbook unibody construction. Guess what, the new one bottom half of the laptop made from plastic. Yucks. Take a look at those photo of latest DV6, the bottom half which silver colored is actually plastic. Only the umber palm rest area and silver top lid are aluminum (oil/grease magnet). Palm rest panel feel flimsy unlike the older DV6 (the one with etched floral pattern). Whole unit feel lighter but not solid. The glowing HP logo on the lid is still there. Yay!
Keyboard quite good, doesnt flex under pressure. The UP/DOWN arrow still half chiclet size instead of full size like all other keys. I guess users will use the included full size numpad on the right side. Trackpad seem larger by >1/4" diagonally, with good friction. Blue glow surrounding the trackpad, look nice. Trackpad enable/disable button is still there, on top left corner of the trackpad.
Speaker grill below the screen partially exposed when the screen is closed. Expect dust to collect there. But the sound quality probably doesnt affected much when screen closed with this design. Didnt test the sound quality as the surrounding is noisy.
Screen bezel is glossy and attracted oil/grease too. Cant really test the screen quality either as it's covered with multitude of fingerprints of various sizes. And no, this doesnt come with touchscreen lol.
Cant speak much bout the cooling but with the machine on for probably whole day (visit at 6pm, store open around 11am), the palm rest area feel warm but acceptable. Bottom of the laptop doesnt feel warm at all. Didnt try to load the system up as there's no games preloaded.
That's all I can recall from my memory. Hopes that can answer some of the questions u guys have in mind -
-
Is this the model you returned? That silver aluminum panel unfortunately still way robust than the new umber colored panel. -
-
The new 6XXX series may or may not be "defective", no one has gotten them yet to confirm. -

actually this is exactly the SAME (here in the States anyway) as the dv6tqe-4000 I returned... only the top surfaces were real aluminum. Silver edge band was plastic, as was the black base."

I am upgrading from a dv5t that is about 2 years old. With that system I use a bluetooth remote to change slides in PowerPoint. The unit has a rechargeable battery and all I do is keep it in the expresscard slot on the side of the unit. This dv6t-6000 no longer comes with this slot. What do any of you use for remote control. Do I just find a bluetooth remote that has batteries that can be changed? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

As I look at my dv5t-1000 laptop, I can not but think is it the smartest thing to upgrade to the dv6t-6000.
My current system has win 7 64bit Ultimate with 4 gig ram (max) and a 15.4" screen with 1680 x 1050 resolution. It has a built in digital TV that can show high def thru its HDMI output. It has bluetooth, Wifi, digital fingerprint reader, four USBs, one ethernet, one expresscard slot, blueray reader and dvd writer, nvidia 9600m gt with 512mb video ram, no modem, slots for memory cards, an Intel duel core T9400 processor, 640 gig hardrive 7200rpm... I have tried to keep it upgraded as you can tell. It has been great taking on flights as it is small enough to fit on those small drop down trays. I have the 12 cell extended life battery so I get about 3 hours of life.
With Microsoft Office 2010, Visio 2007, Adobe pro 9, and some other software I can probably sell this thing for about $650 on Ebay if I am lucky? What do you folks think? Am I nuts spending the $1200 for a fully loaded dv6t-6000. This site has been great as I probably would never have found all the updated drivers for my dv5t. Keep up the great work.

The service manual lists four motherboards.
6770m dual core
6770m quad core
6490m dual core
6490m quad core
I would say that the odds of a single drive DV7-6xxx being unable to accept a 2nd drive are less than 1%.
The real question is whether it comes ready to install the 2nd drive, or if you have to buy the hardware kit.
The kit they sell seems to be for one drive, and I assume I need it to install a secondary.
"Hard Drive Hardware Kit (not illustrated, includes bracket, connector cable, Mylar
shield, and screws) 641306-001"
The manual for last year's Envy 17 states that the drive kit ($70+) includes primary caddy, primary cable, secondary caddy, and secondary cable. Does that mean that a single drive Envy 17 already had the hardware for the 2nd drive included, or just that the only way to get the 2nd one is to buy both?
I'll likely be ordering the DV7 caddy kit as soon as somebody opens one up and tells me that the secondary hardware is missing. Maybe I should order two and sell the other one for, say, $37 shipped? $11.25 postage on a single kit pushes the cost over $40, so the per unit cost goes down a fair bit if I buy two. -
In reading the press release for the new dv6 and the dv7, it stated that the dv7 could have 2 terabytes rather than the one for the dv6. that implies that you can have two laptop hard drives. Given that, I would venture a bet that you will need to order the kit for the second hard drive. I did something similar when I had a Fujitsu 17 inch a couple of years ago that supported two drives. The kit was a metal container that allows one to place the hard drive inside. Then you attach the frame into the cavity. In my case the cable connector was there and one just needed to push the hard drive in.

What's the lowest prices you guys are getting for the dv6t QE right now?
There's a nice 30% off coupon but it doesn't work with the instant rebate and it just makes it $805 (for the base specs).
Has anyone been able to combine that 30% over the phone with any other discounts? -
I have a DV6T Quad that is supposed to be delivered tomorrow. Sent FedEx; shipment originated in Shanghai. Will let you know if what I ordered matches what I receive. I am not particularly confident regarding the backlit keyboard.

I ordered this on March 11th, so how "old" is this version? I assumed that parts availability led to the current online configuration, which is different from what I was able to select.
I am replacing a mid-2009 MacBook pro. Can't imagine I will be disappointed too much. -
The new models came out 2 days after you ordered (the 13th). They sport a different(better) trackpad, better video card, better cooling and a different look. There is currently a 30% off coupon which expires tomorrow and you can still return your one arriving within 21 days if you wish to upgrade to recently refreshed dv6's (which I advise, unless you NEED a backlit keyboard..since the new ones dont have this as an option) ...
