I kinda agree with this. While checking up on the Envy thread...I have heard nothing but bad things about the 5400's.
I would consider an Envy....but the 5400rpm HDD is a deal killer....and the cost of going up to HP's SSD is simply crazy. The other issue is that the Envy 17 is still using that awful track-pad.
HP has everything bass-ackwards. The most expensive computer in the line-up is actually the non 3D Envy 17. Why would anyone pay MORE for the non-3D version when everything else is the same (vs the 3D version)? And why do the DV6/7's offer real track-pads, 7200 rpm HDD's, and the option for blu-ray burners....but the Envy 17 does not? -

Just a guess -

Mine was scheduled to be here on the 31st March but there seem to be a clearance delay in Alaska!!!
Who knows how long it will take now!

will post when it arrives... -
Awful HP...just awful....
With tax, we are taking $1550 for a computer that only offers a 5400rpm HDD...unless you want to fork over another $500-550 (depending on discount...list price is $630) to upgrade to a 160GB SSD with a 800GB 7200 rpm HDD.
That is just brutal....
I can't believe HP is this backwards... -
Also, 3DMark doesn't convince me of anything (especially the CPU-limited 3DMark06). I need real game testing. If you're going to use 3DMark, however, only compare the GPU scores. -
Mar 13, 2011 $909.99 HP Pavilion dv6t Quad Edition customizable Notebook PC Order in production

sorry for the re-post but can somebody tell me what the hp standard warranty covers and for how long?

According to conversation with Paul At HP, by PM and in this thread, it seems that the new DV7 comes with two drive bays and one drive cable.
The only HP solution, fortunately much cheaper than most HP drive kits, is to buy:
641306-001 Hard Drive Hardware Kit, includes:
(2a) Primary hard drive connector cable
(2b) Primary hard drive bracket
(4a) Secondary hard drive connector cable
(4b) Secondary hard drive bracket
Screws (not illustrated)
I'm looking at over $70 with tax and shipping to get secondary drive cables for two computers. (and two spare primary cables, and four spare mounts)
I think there is an opportunity here for an aftermarket supplier who wants to make (4a) cables and sell them for $10 or so. -
HP is pissing me off more and more by the second. -
-
Looking at it logically, I can't get mad at them for giving me a free mount, can I? But dang, that combined power/SATA cable is expensive when you have to buy all the surplus stuff with it.
Hmmm, I wonder if any other 17" model uses the same cable, and if that cable is available separately? (then I'll be annoyed at paying $11 shipping on an $11 cable, when I should be happy that the cable isn't $33) -
Hey, I'm thinking about buying the HP Pavilion DV6t quad edition. Is there an option to change the current color (brown?) to black or the aluminum color the previous version had?
This notebook seems awesome but I just can't stand the color. Any help would be appreciated.
I'm sorry if this has been asked before. I did a quick search but could not find anything about it. -
I remember being really frustrated (memory coming back to me) with Fedex and HP. They were not accurate in anything they did. In fact, I remember the Fedex logging the incorrect time that the package was delivered (like, seriously 8 hours off from when it was actually signed). After dealing with these guys two other times, I happened to really like UPS a lot more. With UPS it is rare that a shipment is changed unless someone screwed up on an address or something or some really, really adverse weather. IIRC (random thought) Fedex sometimes delivery early, but there is no way to really know. It might just end up on your door step one day when it wasn't supposed to be delivered until 2-3 more business days. -

What touchpad does the dv6tqe come with? Is it still the single piece touch pad or are there separate left and right buttons? I ordered mine on March 16th with a ship date of March 30th. It is still in production without an update.
-
My ship date is April 11th, hopefully by then they'll have all their issues straightened out and mine will really ship on that day (or earlier). Otherwise they will be hearing from me, and I won't be hanging up until I get 2 business day shipping
-
FYI for anyone looking to order the Harddrive Kit for the dv7t: 641306-001 is "out of stock." It shows up as being in stock online, but I ordered mine on 3/23 and I received a phone call (and confirmed via chat) that they won't be shipping it until 4/11.
-
i called hp and they said that my dv7 with will here on April 5 by 3pm so i hope they are right they call me today and told me and they said i should be getting a email saying the same with my trucking number.

My dv7 had a ship date of today, the 29 (ordered 15th) and so far no email confirmation or change in date. Should I be worried, or give it a day? Also which number would better handle this, the resolution dept. or customer service?

Read an article that it is estimated in a few years a huge % of hard drives sold will be hybrids. -
