I sort-of get what that means, but why is it significant?
-
-
More battery time on intel's graphics and less heat @ idle.
-
reduce power consumption when not using 3d applications. so longer battery life
-
Plz check if it has intel b3 or the bad one b2 let us know.
-
it means an extra 1.5 hrs to 2 hrs battery life
-
The sound is pretty good, I think it could be louder but beautiful nonetheless! Yeah so far Im still running on a half of battery from when I turned it on.
-
Thanks for the replies on telling me about switchable graphics. So, I assume there is a mode in the control panel for this switch? The deal is that I would be one who would tend to not demand the absolute best in graphics, as I am mostly an "office" guy with net browsing and e-mail.
-
Compared to what? What is the computer that this is replacing?
-
I guess it lacks bass ?
Probably there should be an icon next to battery setting on taskbar to switch. -
It has a bad build under the arrow keys, It flexes quite a bit there but no other places. I will check for b3 or b2(going to have to google to see how)
-
Sounds just like my older Compaq Presario CQ60-215DX. I tend to lift it from that spot, and it is weak there. It won't break, I don't think, but you can notice the flex.
I bet it has the same speakers, too. Sounds like the same build of case to me. -
Thanks for taking the time to post these impressions up, keep 'em coming
-
By right clicking on the desktop you get the option for switchable -
Thanks, that's easy enough !

Ordered on the 15th, expected ship date was the 30th.
Picked up from Fed-Ex last night and now expected to arrive at my house April 5th. -
I've noticed a few people have opted for the lightscribe option. (myself included)
Has anyone actually burned a lightscribe image before ? What are your thoughts ? -
I currently have it on my dv 5120, and I like it for the most part. Images are clear, but there is no color for the image. It is a way better alternative to the old paper labels that get stuck in disc players, and beats writing w/ a sharpie. With my 5 year old laptop it took like 10 minutes to "burn" the image, not too bad for me. So I assume it will be faster. I now have the ipod integration for my car, so not sure how often I'll use it, but I have a large spindle of lightscribe discs laying around so I opted for it with my new dv7.
-
It's neat, just a little something extra when burning stuff. You can end up creating some really cool graphics and I grew tired of looking through identical CD's with nothing but sharpie to distinguish them. For for the extra $15 or whatever it was I saw no reason not to get it. The CD's that you need to buy are a little extra but they're still cheap in the greater scheme of things.
-
Thanks both of you, repped.
-
pissed me off that i didn't spend the extra $25 and got the lightscribe...damm it...i didn't look at it close enough...aw well...i'm ok with it...sharpie works just for me to be honest...
looks like i'm one of the few that got the SSD though...trust me and the other SSD guys though, once you go SSD, you don't go back... -
So, they say. I ordered with the SSD, too.
-
Right-click the desktop and see if you can switch.
-
It can switch, checked it already. Gonna try 3dmark 11 on it now and check this baby out!
-
Hurry up! I want to see the score.
I'm thinking... around 1350.
EDIT: Actually, make that 1400. -
Cool. Assuming you have the 6770 you might be the first to bench it! notebookcheck doesnt have any benches yet.
-
No way it has the same speakers, it has beats audio. Or am I missing something?
-
Luckyguy, have you tried CPU-Z on it to see if it is B2 or B3? Please post some pics? Thanks!
-
According to the XPS forums on this site, CPU-Z can't tell the difference between the two revisions. You have to use the device manager or something like that.
-
There is no reason why CPU-Z would read B2, when it is actually B3. It's just common sense. It reads off what is encoded in the chip. But yes, device manager is nice as well.
-
According to a lot of people, and other blogs I've read, HP has shipped B2 boards on some computers after Intel asked them not to. They are looking at a class action suit most likely.
-
Intel said they could do it if they don't use the faulty ports. That means that the dv6 could be safe either way, but the dv7 is another story.
-
Any idea what specific SSD HP uses?
-
I tried looking on google to see how to do this, if you can give me some hints on how then I will.
Here's the 3dmark test guys
Result -
AFAIK, the HDDs are Samsung and the 160 SSD is:
Buy.com - Intel X25-M 160GB 2.5" SATA II Internal Solid State Drive -
HP used them in their "get the old chassis and hardware out-the-door" upgrade cycle from february to march 12. I'm sincerely hoping that it ended then.
-
Install CPU-Z from here: CPUID - System & hardware benchmark, monitoring, reporting
Once you run it, on the mainboard tab, check the Southbridge revision, B2 or B3? -
I am pretty sure that it is a B3!
But here you go: To determine if you have one of the impacted Intel® 6 Series chipsets in your system, follow these steps.
@LuckGuy
Can you please tell me something about the fan and cooling under high CPU usage (loud, quiet, etc.)?
-
I hope so, I am actually on a 5gen model now, sending back or 6 gen soon.
-
google "CPU-Z" and download it then just run the program. Click the "mainboard" tab and tell us what it says in the "Rev." box.
-
You may want to use this app from gigabyte too check whether any ports are affected
GIGABYTE 6 Series SATA Check Application -
Sorry for the Bad news but it says "Rev. B2"
-
Dang. Can you check with GIGABYTE utility what ports are used?
-
Also, what shows up in your device manager?
-
The fan is wasnt to loud when running 3dmark. Temp hardly warmed up though it was pushing alot of warm air out, which is to be expected
-
Couple other things to check
1) Any clicks from the hard drive(s)?
2) Any scratches on the finish?
3) Any defects with the keyboard/clickpad? Like misalignments and stuff?
4) How is the HD cam quality?
5) When you open the lid, is it sturdy or wobbly? The previous model had nice sturdy hinges -
The link to the file doesnt seem to work. you have another one?
-
O_O Oh. My. God.
That makes it a little more powerful than a DDR3 5850/6850M!
;
Mind if I share your score on the gaming forum?
EDIT: I mean a little less. lol -
