But if u can wait longer, better wait for a proper AMD 7000 series with VLIW-4. I bet the performance is alot better.

Question is how long would I have to wait and how much would the dv6tqe be then. Managed to get one with specs I want (blu ray, 2670 i7, 6770m, 1080p, etc) for 891 after tax and cash back (thank you 500 off coupon).

My asus z96j is pooping out on me

Thanks for helping guys, and how hot should my i5 2430m run? I get 67-78 degrees C when playing Skyrim with turboboost off, is that a good temperature? Sorry for all the questions :)

Ran the installation again and CCC still shows 11.5, but drivers in device manager say 8.882.2.3000. And where do I check the post installation report? Should I try installing under safe mode or something? lol

    Q3 next year? :p

Nice deal there.. i guess no need to wait.
There should be a message at the end of installation whether there is a warning/error or success. You can click that and it will show the report.

If you have time, uninstall everything>reboot>safemode>driversweeper>reboot>install 8.882

Hey all I have a quick question for you guys.

I currently have a Thinkpad X220 for college, and while I love it the screen and multimedia performance is just not adequate for what I'm doing (Lots of multiple windows tasks and media streaming).

How do you think a DV6T QE would fair in a college environment? I come from only using Thinkpads the past 8 years so would I find the build quality unsatisfactory? Also I like to take my notebook to class to take notes...Think it'll be too big?

Besides the attractiveness of the FHD screen I'm really wanting a full number pad since I'm a finance and accounting major.

Think it would make sense to get a DV6T?

Just did the thing I said I wouldn't do. I love my DV7T and its performance. I bought the Intel 320 series 120GB SSD drive. I'm currently running 2 mechanical drives. My OS is on 640GB 7200rpm and my storage is on 1TB 5400rpm. I'm planning on switching out my 640GB. I hope I don't fall into the small percentage of bad reviews with endless headaches.

Please post your experience with this. I just bought a dv7t QE yesterday for my wife for xmas, and I'm planning to put an ssd in the 2nd drive bay.

I'm curious about the cable and caddy kit specifically. Do the Quads already come with the caddy kit? Do we really need to spend $29 to get the cables? What issues with installing ssd's are you referring to? I could put the ssd in my desktop if installation is too difficult, though I think that if I can make it work the wifey will be VERY appreciative.

BTW, I was cruising for an external 3tb usb 3.0 drive for her as well, I found one for $99.99 today at best buy. I had to order online for instore pickup, but I live near San Antonio so it wasn't too much hassle to go pick it up. Found the link on slickdeals.

The one I bought yesterday didn't offer a 640gb hd option. Was that the default drive for the older dv7t?

Display: 15.6” diagonal High Definition+ HP BrightView LED Display (1600 x 900) - This was in the spec for a DV6 on Ebay. Do they actually make this screen for the DV6 or is it a typo, meant to be 1366x768?

Sure. I will let you know my experiences. I'm planning on doing this next weekend. I see your other question got answered. Yes, the dv7t comes with an extra caddy but you need to purchase the sata cable.

The problems I was referring to with the SSDs, is the high failure rate. The earlier SSDs only lasted a couple months. Lately, they have been getting better with reliable firmware. Although Intel is not known to have the fastest read/write speed, but they seems to have the best reliability. With their 5 year warrenty, I hope it last at least half of that.

I have the dv7t 60xx series. I bought mines back in May with a shipping date in June. At that time, the fastest 7200 rpm drive was the 640GB. Now, they offer the 750GB at 7200rpm. Also, I didn't have the option for 1080p, but my 1600x900 looks pretty good. My WEI is 5.9, which is caused my my hard drive. The next lower WEI is my graphic card, which is 6.9. So if I upgrade my OS hard drive to a SSD, I'm sure my overall WEI will be a 6.9. Pretty darn good for a slim laptop.

If I do the minimize system image, are the drivers installed automatically?

Something weird happened today. I ordered the laptop last Thursday night, and I got charged right away. Now I checked back at my bank account, the money was returned but my status order is still the same. What do you guys think happened? I already emailed them about it.

Did this get skipped over? I thought it was mentioned before that the GPU is not removable? I haven't finished catching up and only on page 380 so far, so please disregard if this has been addressed.

I am considering upgrading my stock i3 to AMD GPU but I would prefer Nvidia. I assume Nvidia cards would not work though. Any insight would be appreciated!

I went back and forth on upgrading to 1080p, but I'm glad that I stayed at the standard 1600x900. She uses it most often at her desk, if 1600x900 doesn't cut it I can give her my 2209wa and grab myself a newer monitor.

I'm not as worried now on the ssd's. I've read extensively about the drive failures, and from what I've seen the firmware update has fixed it. I have a g2 80gb intel ssd in my desktop and it's been great for 2 years.

Is there any place cheaper than $29 for the cable, or am I stuck paying that much for it?

I'm sorry to say, but yes, $29 is the cheapest with $7 shipping from NewmodeUS. HP also sells them, but they include the caddy which you don't need. I haven't checked the price in awhile. I think they were just a little higher back in May.

Standard 1366x768 screen is terrible, but it's no worse than any other 1366x768 screen out there on a 15.6".

The anti-glare 1920x1080 screen is excellent. Excellent colors, viewing angles, and of course, the high resolution and lack of that glarey, glossy screen.

Hi I am using Cyberlink Youcam 5.0 and it is giving me dark n blurred images. The motion also appears blur. It is not happening with my friends DV6T-60xx. Mine is a new DV6T-61xx quad edition with 1080p screen. Is this a problem with HP TrueVision HD webcam or something else?

Doesn't happen on my Mac or Toshiba, that's all I'm saying. If this problem is unique to my specific computer then I need to exchange it. If this problem is persistent across all dv6/dv7-6xxx-series, then that's a different story and I'm not sure what I'm going to do.

So does anyone currently own this current line of the dv6t Quad Edition? Any significant improvements? Would you guys recommend it to a family member as an all around computer? They want something fast (or at least not slow like their previous PC) and something that can adequately handle iTunes seeing as that they just got an iPhone 4S....

The model number I'm referring to is below...
    HP Pavilion dv6t-6b00

Any issues such as the switchable graphics that will give them headaches?

I highly doubt that is possible, unless your laptop is really thick. From the pictures alone, you can already see the thickness of the hard drive taking up most of the space.

A little help here. I know this was discussed before but I searched and could not find the thread so please help me refresh my memory.

I have the DV6T quad but when I ordered it, the option for upgrading the wifi card was NOT available so I ended up with a SINGLE band intel wifi card. Now there was a thread at the time and as I recall HP BIOS has a restriction on what wifi card it will allow, i.e. if I was to buy an intel wifi 6300 dual band, it would not work.

But now that I bought a dual band cisco e3000, I woud like to upgrade the wifi card. So besides hacked bios to remove the whitelist, what is the status of the wifi card upgrade today?

    thanks,
