HP is such a sh*tshow. After I talked to them (HP Parts), they told me that it had been corrected (the fact that the part shows up as being in stock online). Obviously not.
Btw I hear that the dv7t comes with two caddies, just missing a SATA cable for the 2nd harddrive. Wonder if we can just go out and buy a cable
-
Hmm. My DV7t was ordered on 3/22 and is supposed to ship today. That doesn't give me much hope!
-
-
Here's kind of a dumb question I have for someone. Is it bad to block the vents when the computer is in sleep mode? I'm just wondering if I should do a full shutdown before I put it in the case? -
So I called to verify availability. Apparently that was a waste of time.
But, from the sounds of it, my 4-11 hardware shipment will be here long before my 4-08 computer shipment.
-
Ugh, Ordered dv6t quad on 3/14, supposed to ship 3/28 then pushed to 4/5... now we're looking at 4/19 (hopefully). ... At least I'm getting a 10% discount.. I guess.
For the record, 2630QM, 6770, 8GB, 2 batteries, 750GB 5400RPM (replacing with SSD), Wireless+Bluetooth. -

My dv6t was supposed to ship yesterday but instead I got a delay notification until 4/11.my questions is what does product constraint mean, this was the excuse for the delay.

yall ready for some 2820 benchmarks tomorrow

=( Sorry to hear about everyone's delays. I just got a delay email for the original order that I called and canceled last night. That order was called in 3/21 -- est ship date was 04/04 -- delayed to 04/15. (Even though I canceled it last night...) I also placed a new order last night (04/04), for the upgraded video card, and the est build/ship date I got was 04/25... Which is 3 weeks from now. Meaning... it'll essentially have taken me from 3/21-4/25+ to get my new dv7t QE...
*sigh* I just want my laptop >.< -
Well I have been reading since page 3 and ordered my DV6t QE on the 15th. I was excited because so far from what I have seen, it is a great machines for the price. I got the first delay email last week saying my ship date was pushed forward to the 5th of April and that it would go out no later than 7 business days from the original date. I figured "what the hell" I could wait a week longer since had already been about two weeks. Today I got a second delay email though :/

Now I am not sure if I am just going to cancel and order something else or wait ANOTHER two weeks. -
So, has anybodies laptop with an est. ship date of 4/4 been shipped.
-
Well, I'm somewhat satisfied. Called customer service and got a little bit of help after I talked to a manager.
The first guy I talked to just said "I promise it will be there soon" and "The laptop is getting a technical upgrade, you will be getting the latest and greatest due to it" but couldn't tell me what the "technical upgrade" was. I told him that his word meant nothing to me and that I wanted something in writing.
I don't have anything in writing, but i'm a little less inclined to cancel at the moment. HP better hope that their competitors don't come out with a better deal in the meantime! -
My dv6 just got delayed FOR A SECOND TIME. Ordered on 3/14, delayed to 4/5, delayed to 4/19. I'll at least get another 10% off (and if I get my way, even more). This is ridiculous. Btw, 7200 rpm.
Here is the letter:

Any word on the Envy keyboard?
If it can be loaded on a DV7....I'm going that route.... -
In terms of SSDs, what do you all think of this at a $200 price point?
Crucial RealSSD C300 CTFDDAC128MAG-1G1 2.5" 128GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) -
So is the 10% off also on any extended warranties you orderd with the laptop, that may make a big differance rather I go for waiting for this, or ordering an Alienware M11x.
Can anyone compare the ATI 6770M and the Nividia GT335? -
-
Playing with my dv7 with bluetooth, I noticed HP installed a broadcom wireless card into the laptop, unlike the promised Intel card. Sucks for me, I'm going to have to order another one to get this widi I want so badly.

It's a pretty nice deal for 2 extra weeks of wait. Also I'm sure they're giving themselves room when they say 4/19. -

I decided to cancel my order for the dv6 quad edition. Mine was to ship on April 11th. When I looked around at some other laptops I see that some offer 1920x1080 resolution as well as external SATA/USB connections. My dv5t at 15.4 inches, which is two years old has a resolution of 1600 x 1050 and an external SATA/USB. How else would I make a clone of my hard drive if I wanted to upgrade to a larger hard drive. While the price seemed pretty good, and the unit looks nice (saw it at Costco) it is missing some things that I think are really important.
HP offers some of their business laptops with 1920/1080 at 15.6 inch and they also offer an external SATA drive connection. Perhaps a bit more in price but worth the consideration. -
Has anyone who has the new dv7 had issues with the wireless card? I have an ATT wireless router/modem combo (wireless G) and have had spotty connections with it. All other computers are fine connecting. I have hard wired it and downloaded the windows 7 updates (SP1, etc.), but it hasn't fixed it, and I haven't had a solid connection since I recieved it at 1pm today. Any suggestions?
EDIT: I enabled the Intel MyWiFi, so far it's working; I'll update tomorow..Let me know if anyone else has had difficulties. -
-
Just to add my pain. Ordered on 03/13/11 and delayed to April 5th and then I received the 10% off email today with new delivery of April 19th. I am part of the cancelled Envy 14 with radiance in January and then a faulty SB DV6T Quad in February so this is becoming quite the undertaking to get a laptop.

Just received err.. was told I was receiveing a $30 credit for the 8GB RAM that I had to pay for. The online rep told me that she was processing the change and that it would show up once my order ships, has anyone else heard this? The process was extremly harmless and a polite request was all that was needed.
-
. Many got $60. Was your rep named Beth?
-
-
-
And then, when you receive your laptop, the promised credits will not be given, you'll be disappointed, you might complain, but mostly, you'll just forget it and move on....
Or do you have anything to show the credits really HAVE been given? -
-
The risk is if it doesn't go to sleep (for whatever reason) or it wakes up, then yeah it'll overheat causing the laptop to power off. Had it happen to me once a couple of years back. Could have sworn I put it to sleep, but it wasn't. I don't think I've ever encountered this problem with Windows 7 though. -
-
Sorry man, but the CSRs are useless. I doubt they could even identify the parts (cpu, gpu, ram, ssd/hdd, etc) of a computer, much less tell you what the parts do.
HP seems to have absolutely no internal communication. Parts are a separate division. Laptops are put together in China. The CSRs can't tell you what the status of your build is, change your order, or even tell you what parts are out of stock...I doubt they even have access to that information.
So when they say a "Technical Upgrade," I doubt they have any understanding of what that means. -
-
-
-
Well mine got delayed again as well. Ordered 3/13, est ship 3/25 > 4/5 > 4/19. At least i got the 10% off for the 2nd delay... i think i'll put it towards a SSD upgrade
-
I wonder what they mean when they give you an additional 10% discount. Is it:
10% of the original Amount
or
10% off of the current Amount
i.e. 1:
MSRP: $1200
Original 30% discount = 360
10% off of the 1200 = 120
So 1200 - 360 -120 = 720
or
i.e. 2
MSRP: $1200
Original 30% discount = 360
1200 - 360 = 840
10% off of 840 = 84
840 - 84 = 756
Eh most likely it's off of the current amount. (In case anyone is thinking about canceling and is comparing the price to some other laptop they want to get).
