Based on what I've seen from the 155 pages or 1550 posts, it seems like there is no commonality to the delays.
dv6t and dv7t
6gb and 8gb RAM
SSD, 7200rpm HDD, 5400 rpm HDD
Both video cards
1366x768 and 1600x900 resolutions
6 cell and 9 cell batteries.
Intel with Bluetooth Wifi or the base Wifi
The shortage must be from the updated sandybridge B3 chipset.
(on a positive note, at least people have been getting the B3 and not the B2).
Please correct me if I'm wrong and you've noticed a commonality in parts for orders delayed (or shipped).

So I called in and got the 10% off, but the rep wouldn't credit me anything for the 8gb ram upgrade (I paid 60 for it). So I went into chat and the rep there was happy to help and I got an additional 50$ credit for the RAM.... not bad at all for another 2 weeks of waiting..
-
OH wow i'm reading about all of these delays and i'm worried that my order from 4/1 will be delayed. ETA is 4/15 for build time. do you think i'll be affected?
-
-
Hey guys when you mean chat are you talking about on the phone or through the online chat customer service?
-
I believe its the online chat customer service (at least that's what I was referring to)
-
Honestly, I'd pay money for it to show up faster. I've got a laptop on life support right now.
-
All these delays make me think I'll never get one. I called HP in Sweden today and the person I talked to didn't even know that these Pavilions existed. *sigh*
-
I was given a very sweet deal and now god willing, i am an HP customer for life :-0)
I will tell this much. I am big fan of how HP reacted to the sandy bridge problem , with the leeway that they gave to affected customers
Not only is HP willing to honor the $500 coupon, , they are also willing to give the $500 instant discount, without any minimum purchase clause. In addition they are also ready to give the $150 off instant discount. That is $650 off ANY configuration for dv6qte/dv7qte.
Dell, can you even come close to this ?
A round of well deserved applause for the elephant who can indeed dance a jig -
-
How does one get to the online chat without a computer under warranty? I just want to ask about getting $50 refunded for the 8gb ram free upgrade or the %10 off for getting delayed.
Any help would be much appreciated(with rep +1) -
Now all you have to do is wait for about 6 weeks / 2+ missed estimated shipping dates =( -
I am interested about the 10%
My estimated ship date was April 5. I ordered on March 22nd. After viewing this thread I got a feeling that date will get pushed back. Maybe a deal on a sandybridge laptop w/ a 15" 1080p screen will come by before this dv6tqe ships.
anyone have pictures of the dv6tqe? I seen some dv6tqe w/ the i7-2630qm that are in silver cases (via youtube) but hp's website shows a black model. Would like to know what I may get...if it ever ships :/ -
or just go to the laptop page and click on "chat" at the top -
This forum / the newest dv6t or dv7t model (6XXX) is a very dark brown (basically looks black. only looks brown under very certain lighting conditions). -
Hey im a high school senior right now and have to get a laptop by august for college. I was wondering if you guys think that i should jump at the deal hp has on the dv6tqe or if i should wait till I actually need it. I was hoping to find a laptop with a backlit keyboard but this laptop seems to good to pass up on with the current deals. Also do you think they'll ever offer an option for a backlit keyboard for this laptop?
Thanks -
just a few hours before mine gets here
-
There's always new stuff + great deals coming out.
Check Gizmodo (best deals of the day), Dealzon, etc.
No there probably won't be a backlight keyboard (that's saved for the Envy, although waiting can't hurt your chances). Others have talked about adding the backlight keyboard part from the Envy into the dv6t -
-
Just received my quartery bonus at work, so izzy is treating himself to a higher-end laptop with all the "toys". HP/Compaq is all I ever owned or care to own so naturally I am not looking at any other manufacturers. Was going to go with the "messenger" style 16" bag for this configuration, but I see that HP is out-of-stock at the moment.
It was a toss-up between the dv6tqe and dv6zse. I really like and had hoped to configure my HP with a backlit keyboard. Sort of held off deciding one way or the other hoping to see the newer dv6tqe with that option down the road. Maybe next time, eh? Even though the dv6zse had the keyboard option I wanted as well as the bonus of the touchscreen display, the AMD N970 in the dv6zse, seems alittle underpowered, on paper, for a quadcore CPU and I kind of would prefer a factory issue SSD to keep the heat to a minimum which that model did not offer. Not really crazy about ATi graphics options either, but I thought I would give it a try. So in the end, I am thinking the Intel model, dv6tqe is the route I would rather go. The shell/case looks way better too, in my opinion.

You want 30%, at least.
Put that in your shopping cart.
Go to the shopping cart, hit the next button, and log in. Now the computer is in Izzy's shopping cart.
Call the phone number at the top of the shopping cart page, and ask them to find you their best possible coupon. You're looking for 30% off, or $400 that stacks with the $150 instant rebate, something like that. If the phone drone can't do it, ask to speak to somebody who can, like a supervisor or the customer service department. You're a high end buyer and you want a high end deal, by golly. And if somebody can make your deal happen, you'll be glad to take the survey at the end of the call.
If the conversation is going nowhere, hang up while you're talking. Oops, you got cut off. You'll have to call back. -

Hello all. I ordered my HP Dv6tqe yesterday and found this forum today. I have spent the better part of this morning trying to catch up on posts and have a few questions. Here's what I purchased:
Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
2nd generation Intel(R) Quad Core(TM) i7-2630QM (2.0 GHz, 6MB L3 Cache) w/Turbo Boost up to 2.9 GHz
1GB GDDR5 Radeon(TM) HD 6770M Graphics [HDMI, VGA]
FREE Upgrade to 8GB DDR3 System Memory (2 Dimm)
640GB 7200RPM Hard Drive with HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection
No Additional Office Software
FREE Upgrade to Norton Internet Security(TM) 2011 - 15 Month Subscription (activation required)
6-Cell Lithium-Ion Battery (standard) - Up to 5.5 hours of battery life +++
15.6" diagonal High Definition HP BrightView LED Display (1366x768)
SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-R/RW with Double Layer Support
HP TrueVision HD Webcam with Integrated Digital Microphone and HP SimplePass Fingerprint Reader
Intel 802.11b/g/n WLAN and Bluetooth(R)
Standard Keyboard
HP Home & Home Office Store in-box envelope
Estimated build date: April 25, 2011
PC cart price: $824.99
HP 16" Notebook Sleeve, link pattern: $27.99
Subtotal $852.98
Tax: $42.65
Grand total $895.63
Using Coupon Code NB2688.
It will be used primarily for gaming - new and old (like x-com ufo defense). I do a lot of traveling and will be toting it around so didn't want the Dv7qe (even though it was the better deal). My questions are:
Felt like a good price, but I was wondering how you all thought I did on price, options, etc.
Do I need a different Windows option for old DOS based games?
Will the Home Premium take full advantage of the quad cores?
Petty sure there will be the fixed HM65 with B3 stepping in the new design case.?
Should I cancel and wait for the new video card 6850 I think to come out?
Sorry if this is already covered I'm still catching up on postings. Thanks! -
...yep! mine is delayed (new est. shipping 4/15). So far, all I could negotiate with them is:
1) 15% off coupon sent it to my e-mail
2) $50.00 credit
I'm hoping/dreaming:
1) 15% off coupon (already sent to me)
2) $100-150 credit and/or another 15% off coupon
...either to buy a 27" LED monitor or another laptop (dv6t) for my wife, so that way she leave me alone... LOL -
Now only if I can get the laptop to go with the extended warranty paper work I've had for 3 weeks.
Also mine is a DV7qe but from the delays I'm not sure the configuration matters.

My order has been put into production, but is still not scheduled to ship until April 25. I actually would prefer it to not ship until then because I'll be on a business trip between the 19th and 22nd. Otherwise, I hope it ships in the next week or so.

-
Got my delay e-mail as well. Also receieved a separate e-mail with a 15% off coupon on a FUTURE order (expires the end of the month). Great. I'll be lucky to get this laptop by then.
-
Any good ammo I can use to yank some good discounts from HP if I call? -
When we're emailed the order summary, I noticed a line that said "Estimated Build Date", I'd ordered my initial laptop on 03/21 and the estimated SHIP date they quoted me was 04/04... however the date written on the "Estimated Build Date line was: 10", how is that plausible? I don't think there's a 10 that falls between 03/21 and 04/04...
After I canceled that order My NEW order, placed on 04/04, had the same "Estimated Build Date" line and this time it said "Estimated Build Date: 10", given that my 04/04 order was quoted an estimated ship date of 04/25, this time the 10 makes sense.
Unless this line is entirely irrelevant and I'm on the wrong track trying to figure out why they're so delayed and what they're not telling us.
Anyone else see this? -
I think you could very easily argue with their verbiage on the order status page. Mine states:
Estimated ship date:
Your customized HP Pavilion dv7t Quad Edition customizable Notebook PC will be built by April 5, 2011.
I called yesterday and spoke to a rep on the phone. She said I should receive shipping notification yesterday or today and potentially receive the laptop Friday or Monday. She didn't see any issues with the order as it stands right now. However, I'm assuming she has no idea if there even are issues. -
Hi guys, I just posted this on the Envy 17SB Forum as well. Got of the phone with HP and must have been lucky to get a rep that had a good day and was honest.
HP does not have any Intel Sandy Bridge processors!!! They ran out and they do not know when intel will be shipping again. They are lined up behind Sony and Dell (must be paying less to intel). Any ship date (even the delayed reconfirmed ones) are nothing more but estimates. She told me it might be weeks before they ship again (she hopes it is not that long, but they have no information about when they will be getting processors from intel).
Oh yes, and she mentioned that if I would quote her on this, they would obviously deny it.
We are all in for a long wait
-
Bummer if it's true.... -
I just spoke to HP Sweden again. Now they've had a meeting about the new dv6 & 7 and they will get the first batch in 3 weeks.
Maybe your delays are because they're preparing for the international launch?
Edit: And now I saw Slottis post... -
But, I would love to be proven wrong about this. The funny part is, taht most HP reps are point blank lying at this point in time. I heared multiple times that people werer told "Your system will be shipping today and you should get tracking information by tomorrow", but what they go is a delay email a couple days later. Look at the new shipping dates. They are all over the place, they seem to be throwing dice to determine those. -
Not sure how good this source is, but it's interesting sandy-bridge-b3-shortage-causes-channel-strain
-
To me, I wouldn't be surprised but more on the lines of it was expected. Without a need for tech article
-
For old dos games download "DOSbox" I use it all the time, and it works great!
RIPWIND pretty much confirmed that the new shipments are including the B3's with his teardown of the dv6tqe
Videocard is up to you, 6770 seems to be pretty good as far as notebook graphics go, but if you want to wait that's your choice
64 bit version of win 7 will support up to 256 cores, the only limitation with home editions come into play if you have multiple physical processors. Windows 7 system requirements - Microsoft Windows -
What HP is offering is - "You will get $50 refund (or something like that) in few business days AFTER you have received the new laptop. So, with all these delays many of the frustrated customers (including me) will cancel the order and will get their full refund back. With all this -
Customer's loss - Long wait, frustration, being without a (new) laptop etc.
HP's gain - They sat on your hard earned money for month and yield interest amount. They now know the demand of this product and have removed the lucrative discounts and coupons from this product. Yeah can check it - no coupons are allowed now.
This deal, configuration was too good to be true and we all fell for it.
