No - I had to return the dv6t-4000 and HP will ship the replacement laptop ONLY AFTER they have received the old one. So, I do have a very sound reason to bash HP. If you have not already returned the old laptop, you are not going to get the replacement. You can confirm that by calling their customer support.
Another thing - by letting you keep the old laptop (with flawed chipset) they are taing chances of letting you spill some coffee or scratch the body so that it is yours to keep. Moreover, many of the customer may avoid the hassle of returning and waiting for a new one.

While I am chomping at the bit to get it, I'm not in a desperate situation where I absolutely, positively have to have something. -

I ordered teh HP dv7t Quad on March 22 and the estimated build date was April 5, so far, no update email or anything from HP. Safe to say it will be delayed but not sure when.
So if the information that someone posted earlier about supply shortage from Intel is true, then how do you explain some people already received their dv6tqe or dv7tqe as we speak? -
and there you go, no extra $$$ out of your pocket and u get to keep both at the same time so you dont have any down time. of course if you have enough $$$ to buffer a second purchase for the time being, the timing doesn't even matter.
2) really??? they extend the return period just so you can mess it up and never return it again? oh HP please have mercy and rid me of this annoying return period!!!!

Well, if anyone is interested, I do have my DV6TQE on hand. I plan on sending it back to HP next week. I paid $866.24 and would ask that plus shipping costs for it, and if PayPal is used, whatever extra it takes to make up for their fees. I'm a verified PayPal user and am relatively active on eBay (alabaster57ha). PM me, or I guess (mods) warn me if this is out of the question for this thread. Just trying to help people out who actually want the DV6, as mine was a case of not being able to cancel the order on time.

I just got off the phone with an HP CSR about getting a refund for the 8gb RAM upgrade that they're now offering, and he told me that he could make a one time exception for me and refund me $30 after the laptop shipped. He made it sound like since I used a 30% off coupon when I ordered the machine, that he wasn't supposed to give me any further discounts. BUT, since they "valued me as a customer," he could do me this enormous favor and refund me $30.
Anyway, I took it, since it's better than nothing. -
. HP has a certain amount of SBs. They built systems and shipped them (this is a couple weeks ago). Now they are out.
On the Envy production line, nothing has been shipped for about 2-3 weeks. On the dv7 and dv6, they might have had a bit more SBs lines up, but they did ran out about a week ago, so nothing has been shipped for about a week.
If you look around on the web and talk to some insiders, you find that intel has problems suppliying to system builders, since they also have to satisfy the replacements. Yes, you can go out and buy a single processor without any trouble, but try to buy in the 10 thousands. -

I just returned a Y460p, which had several build quality and hardware issues. The IdeaPad line is not built to anywhere near the standard of the ThinkPad. As I said before, I'm not desperate to have the dv6 immediately. I can use my wife's Toshiba laptop in the meantime. It'll also give me a chance to play through some of my PS3 backlog, plus much of my time in the next several weeks will be spent watching the NHL playoffs.
I realize I'm rationalizing, but I'm still happy with my decision to go with the HP. If I have to wait a while for it, so be it. -
-
I just spoke with a representative and they assured me the 25th date is accurate and she said "Everything will be alright don't worry. However, under our update as of today, everything is in full motion right now to stay away from delays."
They also extended my delay credit to my NEW order. I'm VERY happy about that. That should keep them complaint free until I don't get my laptop by May >.< -
I'd consider a 6750m, which is just an underclocked 6770m.
As for the Rapid Drive, isn't that just a SSD that's 100GB smaller than the one HP uses? (not that there's anything wrong with a 64GB SSD on a two drive computer, I bought a Nova 64 yesterday) -

I'm a die-hard Hawks fan, but I have a feeling they're going to lay an egg this week. If they happen to squeak into the playoffs, they won't last. That being the case, I'm pulling for Nashville in the West and Tampa in the East. -
via chat, I was promised $60 credit once the machine shipped. But mine was configured with 8GB already, so no build changes needed to be made.
As for Lenovo Ideapads, the back of my case is broken and mounted on plastic, so you can't even fix it if you tried. It is somewhat shoddy build quality. -

Yeah...geez do I miss desktops. Cooler running. Easy to replace/upgrade stuff. ABSURD hardware for cheap. I mean when I look at how the high end notebook stuff is maybe like a $150 desktop part, and on desktop's I'd be getting over 2x the performance in the $300 range...
*sigh* Oh well, having just a single notebook instead of managing two desktops has been a huge time saver. -
I personally think that taking over a month to provide a custom built laptop is unacceptable and if they are intentionally misleading us or irresponsibly taking orders they will be unable to fill is just inexcusable. It would be poor business practice, poor PR, and just plain old crappy. I'm aware it wouldn't have been the first time some corporation misled consumers, but I really hope it's not happening to us right now. -

Totally unacceptable but can hardly do anything about it other than complaining to the reps who don't know nothing about what is happening. -
The article about the shortage one page back was published on 3/21. I think the shortage was the week of the 3/21 and because of that it has delayed everyones computers that ordered that week and after that week.
-
Well I just got off the phone with HP, and they're giving me the $60 credit for the memory upgrade too. I guess I can continue to wait, this deal just got too good to pass up: $880 shipped isn't too shabby for the laptop that I'm (allegedly) getting.

Just Got My Dv6tqe !!!!
-
This might be pretty random and I have no idea if anyone have brought it up before.
White and black models of the DV6?
-
Weird. Where did you find that picture of the white dv6?
-
Humblebeast, congrats!
Any hi def pics that I can look at to keep me satisfied till mine comes -
I agree with Onelove, give us many pictures from each and every angle! Or even better, a video review! -
-
If you look closely at the picture you can see that there is also a black version. So white, umber, and black are going to be the colors offered. Damn I should have waited for black lol
-
Just got off the phone with a HP rep. She checked my order and said it wasn't part of the "delay" group, and I haven't gotten an e-mail or anything yet. Does that mean I can hope it'll ship out within the next few days? Original build/ship date was 04/05.
-
Seems like us in Europe are getting different colours.... -
-
She seemed awfully in a hurry to get off the phone with me, even forgot to ask me to stay on the line for the survey. -
Yesterday got the email about the additional delay/10% off... This afternoon got shipment confirmation!!! Still no tracking info but I just got the email alittle while ago.
-
More White and Black. I can see all of the specifications of every model if I choose Swedish but not with any other language. Maybe it's just a glitch for me.
hp dv6-6
Edit: Maybe White and Black will be a budget version of the Dark Umber and Grey one. Neither have the Fingerprint reader or Beats audio. -

I was accused of buyers remorse for trying to claim any sort of compensation for getting the 6GB RAM free upgrade rather than the now standing 8GB. What was i supposed to say? Can someone tell me how to do it? Thanks!
-
-
Unlikely - it only means that the rep herself knows nothing and is simply delaying the inevitable. At least that's my 2 cents.
-
Grats humble!! I hope it's everything you want it to be and much much more. Pics are always appreciated.
whodeymaster -- could you post your laptop's specs? And when did you order it? -
-
-
For those who understand, I bet this is an excellent review! At least nice to see some decent moving pictures of the machine.
