I believe that 1562 was after a clean install of windows so that could possibly make up for the difference.
-
Nope, it wasn't. That's with the base image HP provided.
I think the scores are entirely graphics card-based for 3dMark 11, however. There wont be much variation. I could be wrong. -
The million dollar question is: Is the 2820QM really worth it?
-
what did rip have? 2720? there is a reason im running it before and after clean install, i think his gpu was already oced also, idk
-
Well, I was turned down for the memory upgrade credit because I used the coupon. I made it known that I will most likely never purchase from HP again.
-Told the computer was shipped and then received the delayed email.
-Refused upgrade to 2 day shipping because they "can't change the shipping option once purchased."
-Refused credit for the upgraded memory I paid for because I used the coupon and received a 15% coupon for future purchase.
Really HP? I purchased a $1000 laptop (AFTER coupon) and you can't credit $30 - $60 and upgrade shipping? Sounds SO petty on their end.

What I find funny, is that their customer support staff have to have a pre-formatted macro for customer's who have been lied to by customer service:
"I know how it feels being lied by someone else, Brian. I can't afford providing you another false information again."
I have seen that poorly written response a couple of times, word for word. -
7.5 windows inex, processor
-
I have the i7-2620QM. My scores were non-oc'd. My 3dMark 11 scores with the 6770 OC'd were in the low 1800's.
I think our scores are so close because the CPU is taken out of the equation with 3dMark 11. It's GPU-only if I'm not mistaken.
There are other tests strictly CPU-bound where the 2820 would blow the 2620 out of the water I'm sure. -
Benchmarks are one thing I want to know how many more fps the 2820 can get and what other real world benefits you can expect.
-
Clean install of windows????
-
This is my first and hopefully last HP. I was going to go with a sanger but this deal popped up so I snagged it. Seriously, their customer service department is terrible with nothing but canned responses designed to get you so frustrated that you want to hang up.
-
No, not a clean install. Just HP's base OS image.
-
Required resolution 1280x1024 is not supported???(3dmark vantage error....
-
Can anybody please answer this i really want to know and also how does the 2630 compare to the 2720 as far as gaming?
-
To compare the 2620 to the 2820 you'll want to run something like PassMark Performance Test:
PassMark Performance Test download page
For CPU Mark I got 6562.2 -
any difficulties i should know about before the clean install
-
Just got off the phone with HP, I got the 10% off questions I had answered.
#1. You get 10% off the warranty also.
#2. You get the money credited back to your account when you sign for the delivery.
Cant wait to get this thing.
-
Herm, I was supposed to ship yesterday but it still says Order in Production. They haven't pushed the Ship date back yet. I just got an email saying....
Seems pretty useless since it wont stack with anything and its not like I am gonna drop another 800$ on a laptop within the month. Hell I might even see the laptop I order in March until May. Grrr... -
holy crap, i almsot pegged 8000(the limit) at 7907.0
-
My dv6 was delayed for one week for the first time, but I see almost everyone is delayed for two weeks the first time. I ordeed on 3/21, est. ship 4/4 ,delayed to 4/11. I ordered dv6se (couldn't afford anything else). What are people's take.
And by the way what time was the shippment notification e-mail sent to those of you who had their computer shipped. -
Actually, he's being truthful. The coupon you used was expired, so they couldn't really pricematch the config.
-
ok now someone with 2720
-
Again any thing need to be taken into consideration, other then copy the sw folder
-
Hah, it was bound to happen!
Notification of Ship Delay 4/6/2011.
Delayed to 4/13. -
I was the same way about HP. But I tested one for a week, and I'm convinced they are better than the rest.
-
hey does anyone a good cooling pad to get for the hp dv7t with the oversized battery?
-
i do prefer the hp envy 14 to ANY other laptops i've used - excluding macbook pros (but only the ones that are at least twice its price...).
i didn't feel the same way about the dv6-4000 - it was good, powerful, and not spectacular.
the best part of HP is it's generous return policy - if you don't like it, send it back and it doesn't cost you a single cent, literally. no shipping fee, no restock, nothing. -
I thought you already got yours?
-
I have a DV6t, which I ordered and tried canceling (on three separate occassions). I ordered a DV7t a few days after when a new coupon was available that brought it in line with the price of the DV6t.
-
So you returned the dv6 and now your waiting for your dv7, right?
-
I already posted my results last week, but I got 7691.8 for the CPU mark with my 2720.
-
Kinda. The DV6t is sitting on my desk. I'll be sending it back next week.
To be honest, I'm so frustrated with HP and their customer service that I just canceled my DV7t order. They gave me the option with my delay email.
E-mail, phone, and chat support has been pretty abysmal for me the past 3-4 weeks with them. As much as I love the hardware, I don't want to go through a support nightmare with them when it actually counts, like if I have a hardware failure.
Although, it was a lot of fun doing the teardown to verify that the chipset was B3.

and there are tons of benchmark post in this thread. I will pick some up and link to OP later this day. -
All three of you beat the numbers posted here:

Sorry to hear you canceled, ripwind. I figured you'd hang on to the dv6 for 21 days or until the dv7 got there. OTOH, if you were in line in front of me, the line just got shorter. -
Wait how did you get 3GB of gaming graphics? i thought it was only 1gb /confused
-
Ripwind,
Why not just keep the dv6tqe? Are you not happy with it? -
My bad
2GB shared with system memory, 1GB directly from GPU
-
How do you configure it to do that? And what benefits does that bring?
-
How did HP mess up your RAM?
-
The screen resolution and quality of the LCD on the DV6t is something I'm not sure I'd be happy with long-term.
-
Why can't you just get a larger monitor?
-
Btw thanks for the awesome post / putting stuff back in the OP.
-
As it is, I did not change anything.
They put different RAMs in my machine.
Different module size, different timing, different manufacture. -
Fail RAM = Fail speed right?
-
If this was my primary PC that would be the easiest solution, but I have a desktop that I use primarily for gaming. That machine is hooked up to a 32" Philips 1080P 120HZ LCD TV.
-
Oh i see. This will be my main computer haha
-
You are welcome, Thanks.
-
It matches to lower speed one, so fail.
-
Yeah, I realized HP does that when I got my dv6t 5XXX (returned), but unfortunately I had already ordered the dv7t with 6gb by the time I realized.
I don't think 3gb ram sticks are common, so HP has to go 2gb and 4gb. But I agree, what the f with the mismatch.
Going to search crucial.com for RAM -
Any recommendations on DDR3 8gb RAM?
I'll probably have my 4gb and 2gb stock ram stick (dv7t) to sell if anyone is interested
(this is all assuming HP ever ships the laptop) -
Oh yeah i was also wondering which 6XXX model do you use to search up RAM?
