You're probably right. I checked HP's website and their new est. ship date is May 2. That's a 4 weeks from this monday!

I think this is why I am not in a hurry to order. In today's world with free 2nd day shipping from Amazon, I find it very hard to commit to an order that won't show up for a month!

anyone find this new HP simple pass obnoxious??
I hate how say I'm browsing this forum and have my PW saved it will keep asking me if I want to enter a password EVERY TIME I change to another page on this site. Also, every time I log out it asks if I want to enter a password...
You can't even just ignore it and continue about your business because (1) it shows up in the middle of your screen instead of in a corner and (2) because you cannot do anything within the browser until you either swipe in or X outta the window...

I think someone else complained about that in this thread. I'm not sure if there's a good solution or not yet.

    What browser are you using?

Yes, i found it very annoying that's why I ended using the older version by digitalpersona, which unfortunately, I don't know it if works with your model's biometric device.

Anyway, I think disabling their addons to each respective browser would disable their website credential capabilities.

Just to confirm what we already know:

Me: "Do you know if any dv7t quad editions have been shipped out this week? And/or if they have resumed production? Or received a shipment of parts that were needed?"
Agent (Marge A.): "To those orders made earlier, they have been delivered."
Agent (Marge A.): "The peak on this model started before mid-march."
Me: "So any orders placed in April will not be fulfilled by the quoted dates?"
    Agent (Marge A.): "Yes."
Me: "Has production stopped entirely then as HP waits for the necessary parts to come in? On that specific model."
    Agent (Marge A.): "No."
Agent (Marge A.): "There are an expected particular quantity in every production stage."
Agent (Marge A.): "For example, there are 200 orders expected for this week but the demand is higher."
Agent (Marge A.): "These may cause the delay with your order."
Me: "Why would an order placed this week affect the production of my order placed before these new ones?"

Question evasion ensues clouded by more vague and cut/paste answers.

    Guess we're all screwed >.<

Yes, I uninstalled AFTER scanning all my fingers into simplepass and it still worked for logging in. I subsequently downloading the old HP simple pass (from the january DV7) and it did not run. HP SimplePass Identity Protection Software - HP Customer Care (United States - English)

Do you have a link? I had problems installing the old HP simple pass. I did not run on my computer properly... Does HP CM have all the same features like website PW saving?

I tried and it didn't work. I don't think it works on windows 7. Also tried HP digital persona and it does not work on win 7 i think. The old simplepass also does not work. Does 3rd party companies make fingerprint management sofeware outside of HP??

It's weird that the old simplepass does not work considering it worked on Win7 before... but it does not work on my laptop. Only the new simplepass (2011) works

My build date (dv7t) was 3/30, delayed until 4/11 also. I didn't get my first delay notice email until after the shipping date had passed.

Monday 4/11 will be a day of reckoning, as I think a lot of people have 4/11 ship dates.

Well I was asking because I ordered on the 15th, but I have been delayed twice. The second delay pushed it back to the 19th of april for me. My guess is that its not a real ship date and just used as a place holder. It almost makes me wonder if I will get a 3rd delay. I wonder what they would offer at that point lol.

I don't know if this will work but when I put win 7 on my asus v1b1 (which ships with vista, and no support for win 7, I found a post somewhere about using the vista driver for win 7, and then righclicking on the setpup.exe for the webcam vista driver, select properties, compatibility and select vista, then click ok, then right click, select run as administrator. this actually worked for me. I hope it works for you. Either way let us all know. For what it's worth, the driver is still working on my asus laptop

Okay guys, I configured both dv6tqe and dv7tqe to have the exact same specs: 8GB RAM/ATI 6770m/2630qm/640GB7200rpm etc etc. The price came out to a 100 dollar difference between the two after identical coupons were applied.

My question is, what is the real difference between 6t and 7t, and why should I spend an extra 100 on the 7t? Any major perks? improvments?

    best,
    marcusjhung

Grr, I didn't realize you could swap out the 750 gp 5400rpm HD for a 600 gb 7200 RPM HD. I called HP to see if I could get my order updated and they said no, not unless I cancel and reorder.

What will the difference in performance be?

If you don't mind the dv7t being harder to lug around ... go for it. Warranty is 2yrs (still, right?), sound is better, and you have a second bay for a future disk ... if you care. If you are going to travel a lot with it, I would then seriously consider the dv6t.

    Very Simple
    $500 coupon + $150 instant discount.
I asked the rep "Are you sure that you are allowed to give me both discounts. Coz that was not the terms and conditions of the $500 coupon that i had applied to my initial discount" (Yes, i did that - guess i am honest ). She said "Yes sir"

$500 off coupon (from the purchase of defective laptop in january) + HP was kind enough to give me the $150 instant discount. The sandy bridge fiasco has been a blessing from God.
No its not a mistake from their end. I didnt want the rep to get into trouble if she was making a mistake. So i stepped up and asked her.

HP was kind enough to stack the $150 even though that was not in the terms of the $500 coupon in January.
