Well, today came and went with no notification of delay or shipment. I just got out of a chat session and they didn't have any info available if it shipped or got delayed. FWIW, it's a dv6 with the 2720, 8gb, 6770m, 9 cell, standard dvd writer, and 720gb hd. Order date was 3/26, scheduled shipment was today

So I'm trying to log into the Customer Service Center so I can do a live chat to see what the deal is with my laptop and when inputing my order number it says invalid login number... How can this be? I got the number directly from the my orders page on HP's website. I'm starting to get a little irritated with this whole situation. I know it's not entirely HP's fault but this is getting ridiculous. Is there another way to get into a live chat other than logging in to whereismyorder.com?

i7 - 2630Qm seems ideal if you just want to game..... I would prefer the 2720 if your doing any rendering though....

Build a laptop all the way to the checkout page (where you enter payment info).

Top of the page, in the middle, next to the HP logo on the left, there should a "Live Chat" link

I know this is off topics, and the final required specs arent out yet either, but is anyone planning on playing battlefield 3 when it comes out on their DV6? if so how do you expect it to play? I ordered the base cpu and the 6770 gpu as well as 8gb or RAM, so im hoping it will play nicely for me.

Do you think there's any major disadvantages between the 2630qm and the 2720, the most CPU intensive workload will come from gaming. Just want to know if it's worth canceling my order and re ordering with the 2720 and the free upgrade to 8 gigs of ram. If the 2630 is more the enough to run games I won't bother. Thanks

My order, originally shipping 4/8 was delayed to 4/11 now to 4/20 OR no later than 2 weeks from original ship date. rawr. If I wasn't moving any week now, I would have canceled and reordered with the new coupon. rawr again.

But they took another 10% off, so I'm just going to have to be satisfied with that. This entire situation is both frustrating and lucky. So I can't help but complain with a smirk on my face. You guys who got all those extra discounts know the feeling.

~$855 for an i7-2720/amd 6770m system... not bad at all. except for the delays

currently in chat with a csr, attempting to get a pricematch on the 3% difference between the old 30% off coupon and the new 33%. She told me no she couldn't match but i immediately said that I would be willing to take a survey if she could, and it seems the tables have turned. Will update when I get a result.

Edit: She pulled the, "you have the option to cancel your order if you wish to use the new coupon code". UGHH! next CSR... I am determined to get my 3% haha.

I just got done with live chat to check if there was a delay. The first person said they could't find any delay information. The second person said "I am glad to inform you that the new estimated build date for your PC is on April 20, 2011." My original build date was 4/1 >> 4/11>> 4/20. My order date was 3/18.

On top of all of this the reps wouldn't budge on a ten percent discount off of my current order. The rep then went on to say that my laptop being moved back a second week is not a delay.. WHAT!?!?!?! Maybe one of these months I will finally get my laptop. I have been without one for about 3 months ever since my dv9000 died.

    Order 3/16
    Estimated build 3/30
    Delayed to 4/11
Called today to ask for tracking number. Now delayed to 4/13. (So they say)
Will wait to call on Wed to recall. At least we didn't receive further delay, and she said 50 $ off and two day shipping. When will this saga end????????

I am 4/13, Can't believe I am saying this but I almost want a delay, a 15% off coupon would be really nice and I dont need a laptop till august anyway. But then again I do still want it now.

Here's another little nugget of information I don't think I've seen posted. Looks like the bluetooth and fingerprint reader are internal usb devices. This might be helpful to people who were concerned that if they install the Intel 6230 WiFi card, they might lose the bluetooth option.

I wonder if it's possible to control the 4 speakers and sub independently? It would be cool if the speakers can be used in a surround configuration.

I called in and said This Is Not Cool. she acknowledged that I've been delayed on twice and asked me what my decision is. So I asked asked her if she would be able to price match the new 33% coupon.

She said she can't do it because it's a promotion, but because of the delays, she could offer a 10% credit off the final price after tax. I said OK.

Ya I'm also looking forward to playing BF3 and Diablo 3. From the looks of the graphics on both games (judging from crysis 2 performance) I'm expecting framerates in the 40's on high settings in BF3. I'm hoping D3 runs at a consistent 60+ fps considering it doesnt look nearly as graphic intensive as BF3, but we'll see.

I suspect 'blows the 6770m out of the water' is a wee bit optimistic. Notebookcheck lists the 6770m's Vantage GPU score at 5,369 (which matches the scores posted here ±5 points) and the 6850m at 5,142 (which may be a Macbook and/or GDDR3 score).
The dv6t/dv7t have been overclocked beyond 6000 on that benchmark, I'm not sure what the Envy can be pushed to.

The 6850m can probably be converted to a 6870m by overclocking, and that might be noticeably faster than a stock 6770m.

Blizzard has a track history of making games with very reasonable hardware requirements. I would expect the 6770M to handle the game quite well, especially at the lower native resolutions of the dv6 and dv7. I'm figuring no less than 35-40 FPS on very high settings.

considering that I just ordered mine today, I guess its safe to assume that I will receive mine no later than spring of 2012.

Mine still says 4/4. Techinically I did get the delay email delaying until 4/15, but how hard is it to update the status?!?!?

Hey I already posted this but wasn't really sure anyone except ripwind saw it.

Anyone know the answer to this question??

Hey guys I was wondering if anyone could say whether it is worth it to pay $170 to upgrade the processor from the i5-2410m to the i7-2630qm? Will I see that much of a performance boost in day to day tasks? And will there be a difference in battery life due to the 10 watt power difference between the two processors?

Any help would be much appreciated (with rep +1)

    Thanks
