Hello HP Lovers,
This is my first post. I've been watching this forum for some time now, every since the first wave of SB cpu's. I already own an older dv7. It's an AMD x2, 4gb mem, 320gb hd and 1tb hd and radeon HD 3200 gpu. It's been working flawless for over 2 years. I do some light gaming and was interesting in upgrading. I finally hit the buy button and my core results were:
• i7-2630QM
• Radeon HD 6770M
• 8GB ram
• 640GB 7200RPM Hard Drive
• 9-Cell Lithium-Ion Battery
• Blu-ray player & Lightscribe SuperMulti DVD burner
• Intel 802.11b/g/n WLAN and Bluetooth(R)
It's hard to give up such a deal for under $1000. My estimate built-by date is 3 MAY. I hope HP fix the back-order problem soon or I might have a delay til JUL.
I really hope my 1tb hd fits in the new dv7. My old dv7 was a tight fit due to the drive I bought was slightly thicker than the default size. If not, I guess I will sell the 1tb and buy a 128gb SSD drive and use the 640gb as storage. This might just replace both, my desktop and laptop. -
People are buying the entire kit (which obviously includes the cable), because they do not want to wait for a third party to sell the cable on its own.
I know If I had my laptop, I probably wouldn't want to wait either -
-
I hope Sweden dont get the same problems as the rest of you.

That wasn't the case, the BIOS was looking for a specific set of hardware IDs. I remember the answer was for Toshiba to either release a new BIOS to allow for any or additional hardware IDs. The more radical route was for someone to hack the BIOS so you could replace the existing ID with the one you wanted to use.
In other words there was no practical reason to prohibit installation of secondary aftermarket cards. Hopefully HP will remove this restriction in a future BIOS release. -
Just checked and: Apr 13, 2011 8:00AM On FedEx vehicle for delivery
Yay.... Looks like I'll have it today. Need to send my husband a text so he can stay around to sign for it! -
good to great res screen
backlight keyboard
good performance
ok battery life
good graphics or some form of graphics (no intel crap)
good style
great speakers
i mean i saw an untra thin toshiba with huge harmon an kardon speakers with a mini subwoffer i think it was ah 12" or 13" system
but had intel grpahics but performance an battery was great
and i also agree with Bag3l
The adamo was an utter failure. I feel bad for anyone who bought one.
Apple set the standard time to exceed it at least hp is getting thinner , cooler , more stylish and improving on sound and performance -

I am really not understanding how so many people are getting their notebooks, and they placed orders way after I did.
Perhaps there is a specific component holding these notebooks back ? Could it be the bluetooth or lightscribe I opted for ? I'd be interested to see the specs on those that ordered before MARCH 20 that have NOT received their notebook..... -
Networking Intel 802.11b/g/n WLAN with Wireless Display Support
This wasn't listed on my order specs from 3/30. Is this a feature that's always been there that they're just now promoting? -
Or maybe it's just that HP is running their manufacturing queue like a chicken with its head cut off... -
-
-
Well it has now officially been 30 days since I placed my order. Still not shipped, still no idea what I did wrong with my order.
-
First, the bad news: The part number listed in the service manual next to the 6230 description is actually for an Intel 1030 card. I'm not sure what to make of it, at best it's a misprint of the part number, but more likely it's the wrong description. Meaning: our laptops will accept a 1030 card but not a 6230 card.
Now the good news: I came across this site Bios Mods -The Best BIOS Update and Modification Source and they seem to have good luck in removing the whitelist restrictions from BIOS. I don't have my laptop yet, so I can't try it out... maybe something to try (if you aren't scared of a little BIOS mod). -
-
Just for grins, I looked to see about battery costs and noticed the 9 cells are "Out of Stock" ... 6 cells seem available at the moment however. -
-
The only different hardware I ordered from yours is the 750 GB hard drive so that's probably causing the delay? I ordered mine the 18th so it was only a few days before yours but delayed possibly up to 20th.
I still like how they dropped the price to $803.24 though, so worth the wait for me. -
I guess one of the delays is the opt for 9-cell batteries. -
-
-
-
I really think there's no logical rhyme or reason to the delays. Which may be the most frustrating aspect of the whole ordeal. Waiting over a MONTH for a laptop is ridiculous. (At least without the proper HONEST notification.)
-
-
The sad part is that it's not just HP, other manufacturers are suffering the same delays, so it's hard to just pick up and take our business elsewhere. On top of which the discounts we're getting make it VERY hard to justify spending more for less anywhere else. /sigh -
Are any other builders offering huge discounts? Or is it just HP?
-
At the moment now, HP.
A few weeks ago, with the correct coupon stacks and epp code, you could of gotten 47% off for a Dell XPS15, which I end up doing instead of a dv6.
-
Well, I'm another one that HP has told me that my order is not on the delay list, although it's already 1 day after original build date (4/12). Got the standard "I have checked the delayed list and your order is not included"
So now I guess I'll join everyone else's pain and wait for my "delayed" e-mail. -

I will also be upgrading my RAM to 8gb, so if someone who already has done the same and has an extra stick of micron 4gb; or someone who wants to do the same and needs an extra 4gb or micron should PM me and we'll work something out.
Also, if someone could post and the update the OP with a nice comprehensive set of instructions to preform a clean install, I think it would be really helpful.
If anyone has game requests for benchmarking, I'll see what I can do before I do a clean install. I'm quite excited! -

Somewhere in this thread in the last few days, somebody mentioned that Dell charges a restocking fee for returns and will not allow you to cancel an order (or offer a discount) when they can't meet their promised shipping date. He settled the issue by refusing the package and disputing the charge on his credit card. -
well i just wanted to join in the fun since I ordered my:

i ordered it March 27th-it was in production by the 29th and due to ship April 11th---I called and they told me to expect an email by end of business day--it has been delayed--new ship date is April 19th
I did get a coupon for 15% but that doesnt do anything for me because I already ordered everything i needed after I ordered the laptop---printer, case and software
i just think that if they knew there was a problem with one of the components they should have let people know ahead of time, before they ordered the laptop!!!! -
