Hey guys, I've been reading post by post from the beginning. Thanks for all the info and your accurate answers.
Here is my experience with the credit refund.
I ordered on March 24th, estimated shipping date was April 11th. Received the delay email on April 12th, including the 15%off for the next purchase.
I contact the Chat Support and was useless, the person recommended me to call the Resolution Department. I call them today at 5:00PM and told the that was ridiculous that they send me a 15% off on my next purchase, because if I want to buy a second computer, the 15% off they offer me is useless besides a coupon that I can find in any other website. So, If I'm affected with the delay, I deserve a better deal. She will credit me $50 bucks as soon as the pc be ready to be shipped. So there you have a smooth trick to push some cash back. Hope that it work for you guys. I didn't talk about memory upgrade match or coupon match. I kept the reason simple. Take care and thanks.

I did the same thing and they put in a request for the 15% off, and a "specialist" may or may not approve it. If it doesn't get approved, which is very likely, they said they'll offer me the $50 off.

Well I called for the 15% off coupon to be changed to the $50 dollars off current purchise and after waiting on hold for 10mins they took less than 1 min to give me the $50 credit. :)

ordered 3/24-est. 4/11. Delay 4/19 (looking forward to second delay lol)

    original price: $1064
    after 33%off price match: $975
    15%off into $50off: $925

Sorry, everyone. My mistake on the screen upgrade. I've been configuring so many laptops on so many sites over the last few days. I was really comparing the resolutions between the 15in and the 17in, which someone answered for me.

I've been looking longingly at a Sager 8150, but all this power for $950 makes me think that this is a bargain that I can't pass up. Still, I worry that I won't be happy after seeing the screen and video card options available on the Sager. No backlit keyboard, either....

    decisions decisions...

So I just got my DV6T QE and was about to do a clean install until I remembered some people saying that some drivers may not be available or something along those lines. Does any one know if I need to keep anything in mind if I am going to do a clean install?

8 DAYS? That's pathetic. That's extremely unprofessional. Who would have thought that a huge corporation like HP won't have backup suppliers...I mean, sure, you can't ship the batteries from Japan...ship them from Taiwan or Korea or something. Jeez.

So today I received a second delay notice, I ordered on March 22, estimated ship date was April 5, first delay to April 13 and now second delay to April 19. Here is the notice:

    "Dear Valued Customer,

Due to continued product constraint of one or more components in your custom PC, we will be unable to ship your order on the revised estimated ship date. We expect your PC to ship on 04/19/11. Your response is now required within three business days to accept this delay if you still want this order to ship. If we do not hear from you within three days, we are required by law to cancel the unshipped order.

Please respond either by email or calling our toll-free customer service number at (866) 217-6014. Customer service is available between 7:00 A.M. - 2:00 A.M. (ET) Monday through Friday and 10:00 A.M. - 7:00 P.M. Saturday and Sunday. Due to the additional delay we would like to offer you a 10% discount off of your custom built computer. Please accept our sincerest apologies for any inconvenience this additional delay has caused. We thank you for your patience.

    Regards,
    Regan Manning
    CTO Customer Advocate
    HP Home & Home Office"

So I called right after the email and received 10% refund automatically. I had previously received a $90 refund for the first delay and another $25 for not being able to get 8GB RAM when I ordered. So the total discount I received is $206.35 off the original price I paid $913.49 plus tax (total $992.28).

    Here is my system:

    dv7t Quad Ed
    • Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
    • 2nd generation Intel(R) Quad Core(TM) i7-2630QM (2.0 GHz, 6MB L3 Cache) w/Turbo Boost up to 2.9 GHz
    • 1GB Radeon(TM) HD 6770M GDDR5 Graphics [HDMI, VGA]
    • FREE Upgrade to 6GB DDR3 System Memory (2 Dimm)
    • 640GB 7200RPM Hard Drive with HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection
    • No Additional Office Software
    • FREE Upgrade to Norton Internet Security(TM) 2011 - 15 Month Subscription (activation required)
    • 9-Cell Lithium-Ion Battery (over-sized) - Up to 9.5 hours of battery life +++
    • 17.3" diagonal HD+ HP BrightView LED Display (1600 x 900)
    • FREE Upgrade to Blu-ray player & SuperMulti DVD burner
    • HP TrueVision HD Webcam with Integrated Digital Microphone and HP SimplePass Fingerprint Reader
    • Intel 802.11b/g/n WLAN
    • Standard Keyboard
    • HP Home & Home Office Store in-box envelope

So total with tax comes out to be $786.03, not bad for dv7tqe. All I need is to get it before my trip on April 27.

    Hi all guys,
Anyone please can help me deal with this problem:
    I ordered online dv6tse on April 1st.
Estimated build date : April 11th.
Estimated ship date : April 18th.

But, right now my laptop is still in producing. I don't know whether or not my laptop is shipped ?

In that case your laptop has not been built and will probably ship April 18 unless there is a further delay. It looks like most of us are getting two delays for those who ordered in March, so hopefully for those ordered in April, there will only be one delay or no delay at all.

HAS ANYONE ELSE NOTICED THAT the only laptops being delayed are the ones with the i7-2630 and i7-2720 processors? (because the lower end/normal specced processors seem to be in the highest demand, and intel seems to be the bottleneck right now.)

They wouldn't give me a discount for the delay.... Purchase price: 1003 - 110 credit refund = 893.00 for the dv7t with these specs:

    Here is my system:

    dv7t Quad Ed
    • Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
    • 2nd generation Intel(R) Quad Core(TM) i7-2630QM (2.0 GHz, 6MB L3 Cache) w/Turbo Boost up to 2.9 GHz

New estimated ship date is 4-16 :) yeah in two days so hopefully this sucker will be delayed again so i can get back 89 more bucks so I can get this baby for 804 bucks would be sweet! Only thing I regret not doing was upgrading my processor to the i7 2720 for gaming purposes I can live without the blue tooth because i have never used it in my life and if i did i could easily get a dongle for close to nothing off ebay.

mine was applied on the subtotal amount. after the 380$ish coupon code. Didn't apply after tax.

    Sub 822
Final 873 after tax. Got 82.28$ back from 10% off after that second delay.

I may be wrong after all. She most likely may have applied the 10% credit to the total before tax. Either way,the difference before or after tax is only a few many dollars. No sweat. ehee

Just got confirmation of my order was canceled because of an overseas ip address shipping to my home in the U.S. Original order was 11APR-build 3MAY, my wife had to reorder on 13APR-build 5MAY. They said they will credit me the $126.78 differnece since the 8gb mem is not free any more and tax is more with the new order. I guess I'll see when that time comes.

That's weird. My situation is strangely different:

    Ordered 3/23
    ESD 4/8
    Delay 4/20

No one-week "first delay" note, no 10% off my order (yet) - they just went from on-time to a two-week delay and useless 15% coupon.

Yea, I saw those specs as well. Its odd how HP changed the wording on their page even when spec'ing the laptop with the 2630QM processor.

There is going to be some upset people when they find out it will not work, when it clearly states it while spec'ing the laptop.

I received the canceled email shortly after I placed the order online. I had to call and verify that it was me. HP called a couple times leaving messages. I skype them from overseas and told them who at HP left the messages. They confirmed that the order will be taken off hold and placed. They still canceled my order 2 days later. They said they had to talk to someone at that address and home number to place the order. Luckily, my wife was there when they call the third time. But now it's a new order in her name with a later build date.

I ordered from Canada through PayPal, shipping to a US location where I will drive to pick up. Seems that one of the benefit of PayPal is eliminating a lot of these hassle.

I'm from Israel and wanted to buy my brother ( which is in NY ), a dv6t .
I have a credit card with a billing address in Israel, so I can't use it.

I've talked with the customer service at hp and asked them if I can use my paypal account to override the billing address issue ( needs to be a us address ).

they told me I can't , even with the paypal account ( they said they still get the billing address ).

In your paypal account what billing address do you have? ( us or ca ).

My situation is identical to yours, EXCEPT no 15% coupon.
Everybody but me seems to have gotten the 15% coupon upon first delay. Everybody seems to get 10% off upon 2nd delay, but you and I got delayed 12 days in one shot, so we probably won't get 2nd delay.

Some other people got 8-10 days delay in two stages, so they got the 10% off and still got less total delay than we did.

My two problems with the XPS 15 are the hard drive is super difficult to access-way harder than something I'm willing to deal with. That alone means I won't buy it personally. (Same with Asus' G53, though the G73 and XPS 17 are normal.)

The other problem is while I prefer Nvidia normally for their better drivers, I do NOT want Optimus, and would not buy a notebook with Optimus unless there was no other choice...and the XPS line uses Optimus.

My understanding is while you can use the garbage Intel video on these HP notebooks, the GPU has a direct line out, and can function as though the garbage Intel wasn't there at all, not performance hit, not driver weirdness, just totally bypasses it.

Those two things combined makes the Pavilions waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more appealing to me. (I like how they look better too, but that's something I'd only consider if EVERYTHING else about a system were identical...really don't care.)

I'm confused...where is the component actually doing the broadcasting? Is it built in to Intel's Wifi/Bluetooth thing as a third radio? Is it actually using Wifi to do this? Did they put a radio in the CPU?!? (Surely not!)

I'd like to AVOID it if possible, so...

    Not me.

I got my 15% off any accessory email after the first day.

I got my 10% email coupon towards the actual notebook purchase after my FOURTH delay

I'm still waiting for my delayed order, but today I noticed that the instant rebate has gone up to $250 from $150 on the DV6

It's a setting in the bios. When you reboot, hit "Esc" and select the option to enter BIOS. It's in there regarding the need to press "FN" to activate the F1-F12 functions.

    Are you still seeing that?
All I see is $100 on dv6t, and $150 on SE and QE.

EDIT: the description page shows $150, but the customize and buy page shows $250. Either way it's $899.99 for the base quad configuration.

Hey, wallyy! I just noticed your upcoming Pavilion doesn't have the better GPU! I'd get matching RAM too for dual channel mode, but the GPU is a bigger deal than that. It's...well, less than $25 to upgrade, which is a complete steal. Go for it! :)

I think those who say the 2630qm is not capable are correct. Seems silly, considering they include it on the i5-2520m and the i7-2620m.

Intel lists WiDi as a feature in the 2720qm specs.

Intel does not list WiDi as a feature in the 2630qm specs.

I don't think WiDi is worth $150 though.
