Interesting! I wonder if it is a technical reason, or just a reason to get people to cough up more $$$$

Just received my DV6TQE - Beautiful machine and wicked fast... Loving it already
Order 3/13
original ship date 4/4
delayed 4/11
shipped 4/11
FedEx angel handed me over on 1/14
$908 with Taxes (after 3 credit refunds of total $177) -
Congrats!
What was your configuration? -
Still showing a ship date of 4/22, no delay email as of yet (ordered 4/3). Keeping my fingers crossed with all of the rest of you!
-
For the intel wireless display, the cpu requirement is there cause it requires the intel graphic.
My 520m isn't mentioned on the spec page either except the in the widi requirement but it works.
I know that my xps 15 series performs much worse than the dv6t-6000 series but i rather have non oem dependent signed drivers support over a couple of years, instead of 6-8 months.
And Dell is surprisingly lenient of how far we can open and replace on basic warranty.
As long the part is being replaced is replaced by a dell replacement part. ie replace the motherboard by yourself with another dell replacement motherboard they shipped, somewhere you damage it, you can still call dell them to do for you instead -

Ordered 3/13 (exchanged with the flawed Sandy Bridge chipset DV6TQE) -
I want to use my existing 1tb notebook 12.55mm drive as storage. Do any one knows if all 1tb drives are 12.5mm thick? I know that 12.5mm thick drives don't fit in some laptops. Since HP is offering a 1tb as an upgrade, I hope it will fit a 12.5mm drive.
-
You should probably take a look at the service manuals, which should be linked in the first post.
-
Does anyone want to coordinate upgrading RAM? I have 6gb currently but want to upgrade to identical 4gb sticks (4gbX2 = 8gb). If I upgrade to the gskill that I ordered, I'll have an extra 4gb Micron. If someone already has an extra 4gb Micron, then I'll just return my gskill to newegg. PM me to work something out.

I said all this about the widi like 2 weeks ago. Also with the 2720 and up you can get a gps like feature included with your lojack is my understanding.
-
The 2720qm is just a better card overall. Most of us got it for dirt cheap considering all the delay discounts.
-
"We're sorry!
The configuration you have selected is no longer available."
so much for 250 instant discount lol -
Nice! Have you tried headphones with it yet? Hoping this model doesn't have static/hissing through the headphones like is an issue with Dell's M15x
Love to know how well it runs games too at 720p, 1080p, etc.
-
Supposedly the headphone jack is where the beats audio comes into play, so it should be one of the best headphone jacks out there in a laptop... I think I remember seeing a HP video about it. Also there is a gaming thread in this forum with benchmarks
-
I got this in email today, and kind of laughed to myself on the specs. I think that our DV6/DV7 will do just as well at a significant discount.
On Tiger Direct
-
That computer is ugly as sin... It should run games better tho
-
$2500 is kind of a steep claim for pricing
-
Just got an email from HP for the DV6QE. I noticed that they have a quick ship option for it now.

-
LMAO i got better specs than that for $1041. Asus can go suck it.
-
I watched a video about the headphone jack and it said that instead of the jack being metal, which causes the static. The jack is made of plastic so it won't get static from the electricity being grounded.
-
Shipping date is tomorrow, April 15th. Crossing my fingers for no delay ._.
-
I don't think so. The ASUS has full HD display, a backlit keyboard and a superior graphics chip (GTX 460M>>6770M). Though dv7t (with the 30% coupon) is undeniably a better deal.
One other thing, I can't verify a comparison just yet since I am still waiting for my dv7t, if dv7t runs anything like the Envy I used to own, ASUS has a pretty big advantage in operation quietness. -
Wrote a similar post yesterday.
I surmised that the build of the quick ship model could be contributing to delays in the custom configurations that many of us ordered. They have to sufficiently stock the quick-ship models to meet demand before they use the components to build customs.
-
But the Dv7t doesn't look like the Millennium Falcon. -
Same here!!!
-
The Millennium Falcon didn´t have as much tape holding it together as the ASUS
-
Three.....
-
OC'd 6770M = 460M. Ask ripwind. Screen is upgradeable, Keyboard is upgradeable. dv6t and dv7t are essentially quiet. I win.
-
Any more info on where we can order the screen replacements and what the part # might be?
Thanks, -
I'm sorry fever, you won't be able to buy anything from the HP website with a credit card from outside US. Tried myself and was told from someone via HP live chat. I actually also tried to buy it with a (friend's) credit card from US (I was NOT in US) and I didn't get the order submitted either.

Yeah, a 6770m is strong, but a 460m running at standard clocks should be slightly faster than an overclocked 6770m. (assuming they didn't underclock the 460m)churt44 said: ↑That computer is ugly as sin... It should run games better tho

OTOH, the 460m is useless in a battery powered computer IMO.
Oh, I didn't notice the 'full HD' screen.
6770m should run more frames per second at 1600x900 than a 460m at 1920x1080.
The 460m has 44% more pixels to drive. -
I would suspect that they're still trying to sell the old version, considering they haven't been offering the 6xxx version with 6570m before.gyoung345 said: ↑Just got an email from HP for the DV6QE. I noticed that they have a quick ship option for it now.

I'm afraid not. An OC'd 6770m is about equal to a 6850m. The GTX 460m is still wayyyy above both of those chips. The 3dMark06 results for the 460m is around 22k, OC'd 6770m is around 14k.Bag3l said: ↑OC'd 6770M = 460M. Ask ripwind. You'll probably get your delay email this evening. Ours have already been delayed, so either they'll ship tomorrow, or we'll get another delay email. There are a few cases where similar orders were placed on the same day as ours that shipped on the first delay date. Hopefully that's our case.Hawflake said: ↑Don't hold your breath. Oh wow, awesome! Thanks! The fact that they're even aware of it and acknowledging it gives me a lot of hope! I have no idea how Dell could sell those M15xs so long and not seem aware of it. The GTX 460 has 3x the ROPS for nearly THREE TIMES the fill rate of a 6770. The 6770's only a bit better than my 3 year old 9650GT for fill rate. For execution hardware the 460 should be close to double the 6770.
These aren't comparable parts, and actually for GPU performance even a $900 Pavilion is worse bang for the buck than $1500 or more on some of these other systems.
Which...is why I can't quite bring myself to pull the trigger, because otherwise this seems really nice.. I suppose I should have gone for the Envy 17 a week ago when they had a sale on it :-/ -
good for you.
-
The deciding factor for me was the huge battery life improvement over any other "gaming"ish laptop out there. The dv6t with the 9-cell gets about 8 hours with general web browsing. That is just exceptional. The only other option was the MacPro, but at 3x the cost and a 6750, it was a no-brainer.Wolfpup said: ↑Oh wow, awesome! Thanks! The 6770m is certainly not any sort of future proof as a gaming laptop, but for current gen games it can hack it. I really dont think the difference betwee a 6850m (Envy) and 6770m is anything to hesitate over, especially since HP really bit off more than they can chew from a design standpoint with the Envy (it has its issues) while they went with the nicest they can really execute well in the dvXt series. -
saturnotaku Notebook Nobel Laureate
The G73 is a desktop replacement. Everything will run better on it than the dv6t, but at a cost of it being more than 3 lb heavier. Now if you're going to leave it on your desk all the time, that's not a big deal. The reason I went with the HP is that you can actually carry it with you. I travel quite a bit, and it's no fun having to lug around a 7+ lb notebook around with you at an airport. The dv6 is probably the best combination of power and portability for the price.churt44 said: ↑That computer is ugly as sin... It should run games better tho

First time post but I've read through ALL the comments, all 2 4/5k of them. My order was finally shipped this morning! Ordered March 20th, and sadly, I won't get it in time for my trip on Sunday. =(

I'm not a gamer, so I guess for my purposes, there isn't a need for something like the GTX 460. I know that they're not equal, but for me, processor and bus speeds rule over the video card for now. I just want to see what Sandy Bridge can do.Wolfpup said: ↑^ This. 6770m is even faster than 460M in many games... and NOWHERE, and i mean NOWHERE, benchmarks OR games, is the 460M anywhere near twice as powerful as 6770M...
okay, i lied, it is probably 2x in power consumption...
but seriously, checkout the gaming benchmarks on notebookcheck... the even the 6750m is pretty close in terms of gaming performance to the GTX 460M (-30% to +20%, with the average slightly in favor of 460M), 6770M should be about 20% faster than 6750M... -
22k? I didn't know that the ASUS had a pair of overclocked 460m in SLI mode. This link rates the 460m at 12,855 in '06, 6721 in Vantage. Same link gives the 6770m a 5369 Vantage score, same as ArchAngel777 got here.knightofeffect said: ↑I'm afraid not. An OC'd 6770m is about equal to a 6850m. Winkyeye got 6401 Vantage with overclocking on his dv6tqe, still slightly behind the 460M as I said earlier.
If you really care about 3dMark06 (I don't), Ripwind got 11,873 stock and 13,614 overclocked.
Nvidia says the 460m can do 518 GFlops. AMD rates the 6770m at 696 GFlops. As usual, Nvidia gets more done with each floating point operation, but not 3x as much.Wolfpup said: ↑^ This.
