Chatted up hp. Asked if my notebook which was on it's first delay was going to ship today, which was the delay date. She tells me to hang on while she checks. While I am hanging on, I get the 2nd delay email with a new estimated date of 4/27. I asked her what part is causing this and she says that she does not know, but it is due to part constraints and the large volume of orders...really? Thanks for the info. Oh well, another 10% off!

    So for those keeping score.....

30% coupon + $60 8gig mem reimbursement + $50 price drop diff + 33% coupon diff + 10% additional delay discount. I expect to have a free pc + them giving me money to take it buy July! :)

You said that and then ironically posted things proving my point. Their benchmarks aren't valid. Use Anandtech for benchmarks and hardware talk. Notebookcheck is just handy as a spec repository.

I'm really, really surprised people have a misconception about this GPU. It's a very solid mid range chip...the emphasis being mid range. This is not a competitor to a Geforce GTX 460 or better, nor to a Radeon 6850 or better. You can't compete with those with 8 ROPS and 480 AMD cores, period. If you get results that somehow make it look better or even close, there's something wrong with the test methodology.

Anyway, *DOH* I'm still on the fence! Wish there was another Envy 17 coupon...

I think we already determined that there were no consistent specs across those who had delays. Perhaps it the motherboard?

    But sure (removed unnecessary info):

Assuming HP is shipping orders (when available) according to when they received the order (ie: first in, first out), then I would not count on having it by 4/22 (especially not if you have standard, and not 2 day shipping). But who knows.

Ordered on 3/20 and now pushed back a third time to 4/27. In trying to figure out why it is taking so long I came across this. You all have been helpful so thought I would share.

Nothing we have suspected but it interests me predictions for second and third quarter. I will keep my order going as long as possible. It looks like it is going to get worse before better.

    Order Date March 21.

First ship date April 4th - They did nothing.
Second ship Date April 11th - they included a 15% off coupon NOT usable on this machine.
Third ship date April 15th - They took 10% off my order.
Fourth ship date April 25th - They did nothing.

I ordered March 21st. Anyone who ordered after me I think its safe to assume you wont get it before I do, so if you ordered after this date be ready for a long haul.

Guys the reason you're getting delayed is the battery! Every dv6t and dv7t have one so thats the common link.

ARE YOU FREAKING SERIOUS!!!!!!!!!! Delayed again!!!!! OMG. I'm tired of this crap.

Original shipment date was 4/1/11. Delayed to 4/11/11. Delayed again to 4/15/11. Now delayed to 4/27/11.

I did get a good deal out of it though. Got 33% coupon, $500 credit, 15% credit off original purchase for delay for first delay, 10% credit off original purchase again for second delay. Along with 5% cash back and $70 credited for the free 8GB ram (I paid $70 for 6GB to 8GB), I got a stunning deal. Hopefully I can get more after this delay again...

Here is the system I configured:

    dv6t Quad Ed
    • Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
    • 2nd generation Intel(R) Quad Core(TM) i7-2820QM (2.3 GHz, 8MB L3 Cache) w/Turbo Boost up to 3.4 GHz
    • 1GB Radeon(TM) HD 6770M GDDR5 Graphics [HDMI, VGA]
    • 8GB DDR3 System Memory (2 Dimm)
    • 160GB (Solid State Drive Flash Module)
    • No Additional Office Software
    • FREE Upgrade to Norton Internet Security(TM) 2011 - 15 Month Subscription (activation required)
    • 6-Cell Lithium-Ion Battery (standard) - Up to 5.5 hours of battery life +++
    • 15.6" diagonal High Definition HP BrightView LED Display (1366x768)
    • SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-R/RW with Double Layer Support
    • HP TrueVision HD Webcam with Integrated Digital Microphone and HP SimplePass Fingerprint Reader
    • Intel 802.11b/g/n WLAN and Bluetooth(R)
    • Standard Keyboard
    • HP Home & Home Office Store in-box envelope

My total was 1556.32 after CA taxes - $500 (credit for cancellation of HP envy due to radiance screen) - $70 (cash back) - $212 (15% credit for first delay) - $141 ( second delay) - $70 for credit back due to lower price (use to be 6GB for free, now it is 8GB free) = $563.32 out of my pocket paid for the system.

I am thinking of calling again to get additional discount for this recent delay. Unacceptable HP, but I guess I will wait it out for this killer deal.

I got delayed until 4/27 too, which as a soldier deploying to the middle east in early May this REALLY stresses me out.

Are there any other laptops similar to the dv7 that has as good of a deal? I got the 30% offering, a $50 credit upon delivery and now a 10% credit today which should put my original price of $1419 down to $843 before taxes. I NEED to get a laptop before I deploy because getting one to me before I start bouncing around to different locations is going to be a real PITA.

The law, IIRC, requires them to ship within 30 days of receiving payment. I do not believe the law requires them to cancel the order, but it would require them to give your money back. It would have been a lot easier if they had not charged us before building the computers.

Why can't HP just tell us what is holding up the production. If they just said that there are no batteries or whatever and they will ship the systems as soon as they can, at least people wouldn't be sitting on the edge of their seats waiting.

Let us know what's goin on!! My first mistake system was supposed to be shipped today, heard nothing..

I have to say I really enjoy the walk from union station to school without that clunky ~5lb laptop in my bag. Thanks hp for keeping it delayed.

    Order 3/22
    Est 4/5
    Delay 1 4/12
Delay 2 4/15 (email included 10% off code)
    Delay 3 4/27

At least its a few weeks before im disappointed again. I hope these delays dont make me super critical about the dv6t. I really want to love the laptop but hp is making me angry.

There is a law where that if they take your money, they must ship in 30 days. I'd consult someone with legal knowledge, or do some research on the internet.

I have a question for DV6t QE owners- the laptop has a metallic finish- so does that mean it only looks metallic and is plastic in reality or is it actually metal on the surface.
Someone should start a HP dv6t\dv7t QE order status discussion thread, cause the number of posts in this thread that discuss the delays is kinda annoying.

I also got a delay message today. Ordered 3/18. Original ship date 4/1. First delay 4/11 second delay 4/15 third delay 4/27!!!!! I never realized how much I relied on having a laptop. I sure wish my dv9000 could have held on a few more months.

So I ordered a dv6t quad on 3/17 and a dv7t quad on 3/20. They were originally supposed to ship on 3/31 and 4/1 respectively. Now I get an email stating that my order has been delayed again for the third time and the new ship date is 4/27. I mean who's to say that they will actually ship on 4/27 right? Probably get another delay email in a couple of weeks.

So does anybody know how long HP takes to process a cancellation and to refund the money back to my PayPal account? I'm seriously considering cancelling my orders and joining the "dark side" and purchase a MacBook Pro 13 (i5) instead. It's on sale for $999 at my local Micro Center and at least that will hold its resale value for a year until Ivy Bridge comes or whatever else comes out. I can't really say that for the HP's and their resale values.

Someone didn't go to the first page and read the reviews. The top panel and the inside panel are actual metal.

One interesting fact from the article though is that it does confirm that Dell and HP get their batteries from Japan.

" If, after taking the customer’s order, you learn that you cannot ship within the time you stated or within 30 days, you must seek the customer’s consent to the delayed shipment. If you cannot obtain the customer’s consent to the delay -- either because it is not a situation in which you are permitted to treat the customer’s silence as consent and the customer has not expressly consented to the delay, or because the customer has expressly refused to consent -- you must, without being asked, promptly refund all the money the customer paid you for the unshipped merchandise."

When did you get the 3rd delay? Today is April 15 and not even April 20, so how did HP know that they wouldn't be able to ship on April 20?

I second that, I think people need to create a new dv7t/dv6t order status thread. For people who are looking for information about the dv7t/dv6t, it's getting a bit much.

    +100

I was about to say the exact same thing. Let's open another thread to talk about the delay/order status. I periodically come to check this thread to look for comments from real dv owners, and I have to dig through pages to find what I'm looking for because 90% of the posts are now about the delay.

If not for the first post by radukr, this thread is becoming almost useless.

My posts were useless. Thanks. /sarcasm.
