No. I appreciate your posts too. I will have to reword my previous sentence.

I received the 3rd delay notification earlier today, 4/15.
Since all these new ship dates are "expected/estimated," there is always the possibility HP will have the laptop ready to ship sooner, which I'm hoping will be the case.
It probably was a battery shortage from Japan that's been causing all the delays. -
Any way to get advanced options in BIOS? I want to turn on VT and want to have the option to do a few other things.
Its annoying how my 5 year old 1 core 1GB of ram 160GB 3200rpm harddrive laptop has more BIOS options then this computer. /rant -

My cousin also ordered a dv6tqe (new design, sandy bridge) on 3/13, and he got it by 3/28 without any delay, but then he returned it due to dislike color.
I wish I could buy his instead of his return. -
I had ordered a DV7tqe (6xxx) series on March 14th. It was scheduled to ship on March 28th and I received it on April 4th. Oddly, I had included (and paid for) the 9-cell battery and bluetooth option. But they weren't included. HP's solution for this was to have me re-order (and pay for again) another DV7tqe on April 9th with the correct configuration and they would extend my return window so that I can return my current one when the new one arrives (expected ship date is May 2nd). My credit card has been charged for both and they will refund the cost of the original laptop when received. On the plus side, they did credit back my card $150 for the trouble.
Just thought I'd pass along the information in case anyone was in a similar situation. If anyone has any questions, let me know! -

This seems to be after almost everyone's delayed dates, which I suppose is good in a way, I don't expect mine to be delayed.
But honestly, I can't wait to get this thing. -

$563 out of pocket for those specs? I can't even imagine HP making money on that. Yeah it's taking forever, but that is a ridiculously good deal. Nice job working those discounts! -
-

Also good luck finding an attorney to take the case. Only way one would be interested (unless you want to pay them) is if they could do a class action suit.
EDIT:
Just realized this seems contradictory to my previous previous post. Difference is suing for your specific order vs suing on principle / because you're pissed off at HP. -
-
-
Hmm pay more for a MacBook Pro whose specs don't even come close to a dv6t or dv7t quads? Just do what I did, join the "dark side" and go rogue by installing windows -
What Does the Rule Cover?
It applies to most goods a customer orders from the seller by mail, telephone, fax, or on the Internet. -
-
-
-
If anyone is in dire need, the DV7 in silver, with an i7 2630 Quad is on the store shelves at places like Fry's electronics for $999
-
Wow instead of the 2 week waiting period (order date to ship date) you got a 3 week period. Hopefully that means HP has some idea as to what's going on now. -
Just wanted to say sorry for "spamming" the thread. Didn't have a chance to follow along until now and had to catch up
-
-
For the time they are taking to build our laptops, It better be encrusted in diamonds and chocolate.
-
I just can´t believe it...
All these delays and still pulling sh*t out of your hat HP? -
When did he placed his order? did he buy it in Spain or us? -
Is the same model as the dv6t:
i7-2630qm
6770m
4gb ram
750gb Hdd
-
-
Most probably it is B3 but cpu-z is not showing it right
ripwind confirmed it is B3(by dissembling his dv6), although it appears as B2 on cpu-z
Check the first page of this thread for more info. -

Hi.
I am also planning to get a dv6 quad edition but not from the US. I have a question regarding the AMD Radeon GPU and drivers. I understand that its very good to have constant driver upgrades for the GPU as it improves performance and brings in a lot of fixes. Some quesions here:-
1. The drivers for the HP laptop GPU's like 6770M are written by HP or AMD? I think its the former but I just want to confirm.
2. If it is indeed HP, then does HP guarantee constant GPU driver upgrades in the future (next 2-3 yrs) as well?
3. Can we use AMD drivers for our GPU? Say if HP stops driver upgrades for 6770M in future. Or maybe some other open source drivers exist?
4. Do the old drivers (if not updated) affect the GPU's capabilities of playing newer games which release in the future?
I know these are noobish questions. Just wanted to know this. I guess someone who has had HP laptops in the past can comment on this.
Thanks -
The DV6 and DV7 should be separate (as were other "owners lounges"). -
Note: Applies only to the HP models that uses AMD Switching Technology.
The drivers are written by HP, but their driver support last 6-8 months, and usually release a new driver after 2 revisions of the official AMD driver.
Or the laptop model is superseded by another generation.
Depending on which one comes first.
There are no open source drivers for windows, however, they are easy to modify to get it to work using the official AMD drivers base. You may run the risk of reduce functionality and higher temperatures. Everyone have different results and not consistent. You might be the only lucky one that works but many others are not.
-----------
Older drivers could affect newer games that are yet to release and may exhibit some odd behavior. Usually newer drivers resolved that or the game resolve it themselves.
Using the official AMD drivers just work fine, as long the model doesn't support Switching Technology. Hope the AMD Dynamic Switching Technology get released soon, this could remove the driver OEM dependency problem as the idea is inline with Nvidia Optimus. -
You guys can relax, just placed my order, should be build by may 9 2011.
Should be delayed by may 5 2011.
I'll get the laptop no later than June 30 2013.
-
In on page 300, lol. I'm out of country right now but head back home in a week.. my dv6 is waiting for me
. Also I should let you guys know that I got my delay to 4/20 email on 4/8ish and the laptop shipped the next day... so don't lose hope when it gets delayed into oblivion. My original order date was 3/13, shipped 4/10, reached my home on 4/14.
-
Ordered dv6tqe on 3/21
Estimated shipping on 4/4
1st delay to 4/11 (15% coupon for a future item --- useless)
2nd delay to 4/15 (10% discount)
Finally I canceled it. No more HP!!!!
Third delay 4/27???
Changed to Lenovo W520 -
Anyone know if the exchanges from the old B2 chip incident are taking longer than the orders that are simply placed on a certain date? FedEX received my exchange on March 14th, so I'm assuming that's when it went into production, but just got third delay email last night. Current track record:
Original build date: April 5th
1st Delay: April 12th
2nd Delay: April 15th
3rd Delay: April 27th
Being a college student sucks without a laptop... I've been getting disgustingly friendly with our computer clusters, and let's just say that Microsoft can have my money if it means I can start drawing graphs and writing papers using Word again on my own machine instead of struggling with Open Office commands -
Anybody know how long the 33% off on the dv6tqe can be expected to last? With the i7 2630qm, HD 6770m graphics, 6gb ram, the price is about $787 before tax. I was just wondering what the cutoff is for the coupon. Is there a date, or is it one of those ### uses coupons?
-
its one of those ### of uses coupons,
Coupon Code: NB8095 (1350 uses)
Btw, last week you could of gotten the free upgrade to 8gb ram for the same price. -
No delay email yet. Ship date was yesterday. ick xD
-
I've just used it, so it still works. -
Have been going through the owners lounge to find out about any issues the laptop might have and other details on it but all i really found was people discussing delays, and it is really annoying. So i went ahead and created this Order Status Discussion Thread. Could you guys please take the order discussion there and lets keep this thread about reviews, opinions and info from owners, not delay complaints from soon to be owners.

I just noticed that on the HP website, the pictures on the dv6tqe page are of the old silver version. This is probably just an oversight on the part of HP, but I just wanted to check that the dv6tqe does have the umber color. On the high performance page, the thumbnail is of the new umber version, so it's probably a mistake.
Edit: Also on the dv6t select edition page, they have a picture of the left side of both the old and new versions. Rather amusing.
