They say that to everyone, so don't count on anything happening until you get the email saying that it's shipped.

And by the way, to all the pessimists out there, just because people ordered later, doesn't mean that they'll wait the same amount of time as you. It's not like HP will always have this kind of stocking issue. If at all, the later you order, the earlier you'll get it. Fail Logic. Good day to you.

I did Bill Me Later as well...do you suppose that the 6 month no interest no payments begins after we receive the laptop? My guess is that the 6 months begins when the order goes to production. Let me know if you know differently.

Between a shipped and returned printer, a hp cancelled laptop, a shipped and return laptop, a printer, and the multiple delays of my current laptop, I can't make heads or tails of my bill me later account, ie: Match order, ship, or delivery dates to charges.

Only charge I have on there is for the printer. All I can say for sure is that your bill me later statement says "NO PYMTS UNTIL xx/xx/2011"

    1) I would have assumed BillMeLater would charge from the earliest date possible so that people don't pay it off by the deadline and get tacked with ALL the accumulated interest. But your deadline seems to be clearly listed.

    2) I'd also watch out for BillMeLater applying whatever payment you make to the newest item if you have more than one item on your account.
eg: Item A due 9/1. Item B due 10/1. Payments you make are applied to Item B, so that gets paid off first and you end up not paying Item A off in time.

I've never used BillMeLater before now / haven't had a bad experience with them / haven't even heard anything bad about them. But based on what I've seen with Banks and Credit Cards, these are legitimate tactics that can be used.

Yeah I agree. HP might be able to pick up production, so people who ordered later won't have to wait as long as the people who ordered earlier have. Haha just realized it's been a whole month from order to ship date. But I would assume that HP is fulfilling earlier orders first, eg: Don't expect to have your laptop that you ordered on 4/5 shipped before someone who ordered on 4/1.

It's first come first serve, but HP needs to end the bottleneck of orders somehow, which will make them order their lacking parts in bulk. They aren't going to have delays forever dude. That's bad PR.

No worries, I just bought a shotgun=) I'm in Seattle. Last HP laptop for me, it went to Anchorage Alaska then to WA. I also paid for 2 day shipping.

I think I heard someone else from CA saying that their laptop went from Alaska to Tennessee back to CA (sounds stupid, but Fedex [and UPS] have major hubs out in the Midwest and somehow it saves them money to do it that way).

You get your shipping notification yet?

Fedex usually gets the laptop to your door a day or two before the estimated date unless there's a major clearance (customs) delay.

Thanks. I've used credit cards with similar terms (Best Buy - no interest, or payments for 18 months and no interest or payments for 36 months) and I believe regulations state that they must clearly indicate when the "grace period" ends as well as the accrued interest you will be charged if you do not pay within that period. If the statements are clear I suppose that's the best we can hope for!

For current owners of the dv6t or dv7t, does anybody else have a gap between the metal / plastic lining around the computer and the metal top? I don't know why I didn't noticed before, but I was looking at my hard drive light on the right and noticed that I can see the light from the top as well. You can see the circuitry between the gap. Also, on the left hand side, there is a gap between the metal lining and the metal top. Does anybody else have the same problem? I'm wondering if it would affect the computer in the long term and whether anybody considers it a reason to return the computer. I'm running up against my 21-day window and wanted to decide.

ferver69 and AndreaNya - You CAN order from outside the US by using gchat to call HP (Just set your location to US so it gives you a US phone #) and then use a US credit card over the phone, and make sure it ships to the US address. (I did this to order from outside the country)

sorry, i mean GMAIL, not gchat. Gmail allows you to make free phone calls using your computer, and lets you choose where you want your call to originate from. Using this service, select the US flag from the dropdown list in the call menu, and then call HP to order over the phone, provide them with a US credit card/billing/shipping address and they won't know you're calling from outside the country.

    Edited for some errors
Edit #2: The chat service inside gmail contains the calling functionality, so you must enable chat inside gmail I believe, *phew* I think that's it

I can override the IP block with using a us proxy.
The real problem is using/finding a credit card with billing address in the states.

I just ask a friend to order it for me ( I'm from Israel), and I'll transfer him the money later.

On my third delay waiting for my dv7t. :(

For those of you who have received your 7s, can anyone confirm whether or not the bios supports booting from the second hard disk? My research suggests that earlier two-drive Pavilion notebooks did not, but previous posts here concerning the possibility of SSDs in the second drive bay makes me wonder if there's been a change with the new models.

    Thanks.

I have Not recieved my dv6/7 yet, so I cannot compare. But strictly going by the pictures IMHO I would not return it. It doesnt look to me like it would be that big of a deal but then again, if your the type of person who notices something wrong and constantly notices it, you may not be happy with your decision if you decide to keep it a few months down the road.

A quick question to dv6-6xxx owners:

Could you please check the weight of the notebook? The problem is that some retailers (even an official HP brochure) state a weight of 2,5kg/5,5lbs and some 2,9kg/6,4lbs. And could you also weight the 120W power supply? I'd be very thankful for your input.

Long time reader, first time poster here :D ! First of all, thanks to everyone for all the great info, I would have gone crazy waiting for my laptop if it wasn't for you guys(two delays, ordered 3/21 estimated ship is now 4/27).

I do have a noobish tech question though. I ordered the dv6tqe and was thinking about getting the Seagate Momentus drive to replace the stock drive that comes with the laptop, and using that drive in my PS3 slim. In order to do this, I don't need to get any cables or kits, right? Since I'm just replacing one with the other and not adding anything extra I should just be able to slide the new HDD in where the old one was and boot a clean install of Win7 from the DVD? (Link: Newegg.com - Seagate Momentus XT ST95005620AS 500GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache 2.5" SATA 3.0Gb/s with NCQ Solid State Hybrid Drive -Bare Drive)

As long as it's a 9.5mm height SATA drive ( and that Seagate model is), it should be a drop-in replacement. But with a clean install from a non-HP Windows install disk, it may take some effort to get everything working properly (drivers, especially the switchable graphics, Coolsense, etc). Unless there's some bloatware that you really want to get rid of, it might be easier to make your recovery DVDs and then reinstall to the new hard drive from those.

Ok, thanks for the tip. I'll plan on using recovery discs, but I had thought that a clean install might be easier than uninstalling bloatware. Unless of course not all of the drivers are downloadable.

Taxmantoo, which drive are you going to get for your second drive bay. I thought of waiting a week for the Crucial M4 to come out but not sure whether to get the 64 or 128. I opted for the 640GB 7200 RPM in my options.
