I just called in also, the rep confirmed it - and is now checking on it. I want documentation also.

Edit: She went back on it - linked her to the page, showed her it was a 2 year warranty according to the order page - the *ONLY* page which specifies what the standard warranty is. She's checking now.

Just chatted up the warranty issue and have confirmation. The best part was that I accidentally put up the link to the 6t non quad edition. She pushed the link to the correct page and it said 2 year as well! :p

If you look under the "Specs", it only lists 1 year for the DV6 QE.

Resolutions confirmed that it was a 2 year warranty. I had to literally FIGHT with an agent on live chat to get documentation (edit - he was a nice guy though).

    7:01:00 PM AgentJocel G.
Your PC comes with one year standard warranty.
    7:01:26 PM CustomerBrook Abegaze
I just talked to a member of your resolutions team about: HP Pavilion dv6 and dv6t Quad Edition series | HP Official Store
    7:01:35 PM CustomerBrook Abegaze
She confirmed that I had a 2 year warranty - then told me to come here
    7:01:43 PM CustomerBrook Abegaze
to get an email from you guys so I had documentation
    7:01:55 PM CustomerBrook Abegaze
During your standard limited warranty period you'll get:

Technical assistance via on-line chat, e-mail, or phone
Two year of parts and labor coverage, including customer-replaceable parts, return of equipment to HP, and authorized service provider options1
Two years of 24 x 7 toll-free technical support in English or Spanish
One year of limited toll-free software tech support
    7:02:15 PM AgentJocel G.
Let me double check on it.
    7:02:17 PM CustomerBrook Abegaze
    thanks
    7:04:07 PM CustomerBrook Abegaze
The link on the order page defines the standard warranty as a 2 year warranty. Which was my understanding of how long it's duration was.
    7:04:18 PM CustomerBrook Abegaze
That is the only confirmation of the duration on the order page that I saw.
    7:04:35 PM AgentJocel G.
Let me verify it for you, Brook.
    7:05:46 PM AgentJocel G.
May I place you on hold for two minutes while I double check this information?
    7:06:14 PM CustomerBrook Abegaze
    Yes
    7:09:31 PM AgentJocel G.
    Thank you for waiting patiently.
    7:09:56 PM CustomerBrook Abegaze
    No problem
    7:10:31 PM AgentJocel G.
I have checked on it, based on the information here, this model comes with one year warranty.
    7:10:46 PM CustomerBrook Abegaze
Based on what I saw when I made the order
    7:10:55 PM CustomerBrook Abegaze
The standard warranty is 2 years
    7:11:02 PM CustomerBrook Abegaze
it's *still* on the order page
    7:11:19 PM CustomerBrook Abegaze
I already talked to a woman from the resolutions center : 18662176014
    7:11:34 PM CustomerBrook Abegaze
She told me it was a 2 year warranty and to contact you so I could get it in writing via one of these transcripts
    7:12:00 PM CustomerBrook Abegaze
You can't contradict what it says *and still says* everytime someone orders from your page
    7:12:38 PM CustomerBrook Abegaze
I don't see how it's even legal for you to tell me *now* that my warranty is 1 year, when the terms on the page I ordered it from say 2 years
    7:12:45 PM CustomerBrook Abegaze
HP Pavilion dv6 and dv6t Quad Edition series | HP Official Store
    7:12:49 PM CustomerBrook Abegaze
Click on the Warranty and Support tab
    7:13:06 PM AgentJocel G.
Okay. Let me check on the link.
    7:14:19 PM CustomerBrook Abegaze
All my receipt says is that I have a "standard warranty" - the length isn't included on it. It's what got me suspicious in the first place
    7:14:31 PM AgentJocel G.
I already clicked on the warranty and support tab.
    7:15:10 PM CustomerBrook Abegaze
    Then you should see:
During your standard limited warranty period you'll get:

Technical assistance via on-line chat, e-mail, or phone
Two year of parts and labor coverage, including customer-replaceable parts, return of equipment to HP, and authorized service provider options1
Two years of 24 x 7 toll-free technical support in English or Spanish
One year of limited toll-free software tech support

In addition, HP Support Assistant, a preinstalled application, can help you maintain your PC and resolve problems
    7:15:26 PM CustomerBrook Abegaze
I am staring at it right this second
    7:15:51 PM AgentJocel G.
That is true. That is what I am seeing too.
    7:16:45 PM CustomerBrook Abegaze
So the woman from resolution's told me it was a 2 year warranty, the website says it's a 2 year warranty, and *you* the only person I can get written documentation from (although I've screenshotted the page) is trying to tell me it's a one year warranty
    7:17:41 PM AgentJocel G.
You are lucky to get this offer, because it is a special standard warranty offer.
    7:18:16 PM AgentJocel G.
You will have: Two year of parts and labor coverage, including customer-replaceable parts, return of equipment to HP, and authorized service provider options.
    7:18:31 PM AgentJocel G.
Also, two years of 24 x 7 toll-free technical support in English or Spanish.
    7:18:45 PM CustomerBrook Abegaze
Thank you, that's all I'm asking for.
    7:19:01 PM CustomerBrook Abegaze
So my laptop does come with:
During your standard limited warranty period you'll get:

Technical assistance via on-line chat, e-mail, or phone
Two year of parts and labor coverage, including customer-replaceable parts, return of equipment to HP, and authorized service provider options1
Two years of 24 x 7 toll-free technical support in English or Spanish
One year of limited toll-free software tech support
    7:19:17 PM AgentJocel G.
The rest are valid for one year, like the limited toll-free software tech support.
    7:19:20 PM CustomerBrook Abegaze
    yes
    7:19:59 PM AgentJocel G.
I am sorry, if I got you confused, standard warranty is regularly for one year only.
    7:20:20 PM CustomerBrook Abegaze
    But in this case, it's 2 years - because it's a dv6t quad?
    7:21:01 PM AgentJocel G.
However, in your order, there are certain services that you are getting for two years as specified.
    7:21:19 PM CustomerBrook Abegaze
yes, and those services are? (Sorry I need this documented, I don't want to fight for this later on)
    7:21:41 PM AgentJocel G.
    I agree on that.
    7:22:57 PM AgentJocel G.
For specific warranty inquires you need to contact our Technical Support. Do you have access to a phone line right now?
    7:23:17 PM CustomerBrook Abegaze
Yes... technical support told me to contact resolutions - it's why I called them in the first place
    7:23:21 PM CustomerBrook Abegaze
and resolutions confirmed and told me to contact you
    7:23:27 PM CustomerBrook Abegaze
so I can get it in writing
    7:23:30 PM CustomerBrook Abegaze
    it's like I'm going in a circle
    7:25:52 PM CustomerBrook Abegaze
I'm not understand what the difficulty is - I paid for my laptop which came with the standard warranty, the terms of the warranty were clearly defined. I am in need of documentation because the terms of that warranty are apparently being breached for no apparent reason.
    7:25:57 PM AgentJocel G.
I am sorry the scenario, I do not want to make you run around in circles. Did those departments informed you that your warranty statements will be included in the laptop package?
    7:26:04 PM CustomerBrook Abegaze
    No
    7:26:07 PM CustomerBrook Abegaze
    No one told me that
    7:26:33 PM CustomerBrook Abegaze
When I first attempted to contact y'all I was told I had a 1 year warranty - then when I showed them the information on the site, that was changed by resolutions
    7:26:48 PM CustomerBrook Abegaze
And was told that the dv6 was an exception
    7:26:52 PM CustomerBrook Abegaze
I contact you guys like I was told to
    7:27:03 PM CustomerBrook Abegaze
and instead of being told it was 2 year - I was told it was 1 year again
    7:27:08 PM CustomerBrook Abegaze
then that the dv6 was an exception
    7:27:13 PM CustomerBrook Abegaze
and that parts and labor was 2 years
    7:27:25 PM CustomerBrook Abegaze
You can see how that could be irritating

I understand how you feel about this.

You've just told me that the laptop comes with warranty information - but if it says 1 year in the box I'll be extremely angry considering the fact that it says 2 years in the site I ordered it from

Typically evasiveness comes from dishonesty. I am entitled to direct confirmation of this now, by law, considering I'm a paying customer.

That is correct. Do not worry, you will have the hard copy of the standard warranty, including the two year provisions on certain services.
    7:30:21 PM CustomerBrook Abegaze
Okay, so it will be in the box?
    7:31:42 PM AgentJocel G.
Definitely. If it is not included in the box, refer to this chat session that we have:xxxxxxx .

My DV7t has a small gap where the plastic bezel meets the metal top just under the speaker bar. There are also small gaps around the top corners where the chassis wraps around. Someone posted some pics of their DV7t and I could see it also had just about the same gaps as mine. In the end, I decided it wasn't a big enough issue to warrant a return. With that said, the gaps I see in your pictures looks far worse than mine, I'm not sure if that's normal. The build quality is otherwise good on the new DV7t/DV6t, so I don't know what the deal is with the gaps. In an earlier review/post, I did write about how I thought that overtime, the chassis could pull away from the metal top plate due to resting your hand over the edge while using the trackpad.

    I called the number.

The lady who answered told me it was a 2 year warranty. The serials haven't been uploaded to the server yet because it's a new model. She told me she was sure of it - and mentioned she had already talked to someone about it (assuming it was you).

She said that even if it was a missprint, it would be honored, just make sure to document everything. But she doubts it was a missprint.

In all honesty, are cooling pads worth it? The one's i see in stores are plastic and look very chincy. Will it do much when my laptop spends most of its time on a desk? And does your laptop slide off of it when your sitting in bed? Sorry but I always contemplated getting one and never really had a review on them.

I'll do this tomorrow, and begin the battle. There is always BBB.org I entered a complaint a few months back against Sprint, and they blew up my phone trying to resolve the issue...and did! They will want some sort of proof though. (I sent a printed pdf copy of the issue from their website to there res team to prove the issue)

Could someone clear up something for me? On the dv7t quad sandy bridge custom notebook page it states on the "overview tab" that the unit has 4 USB 2.0 Ports(one of which is shared w/ esata port) and on the Spec Tab it states that the unit has 2 USB 2.0 And 2 USB 3.0 Ports. Some of you who have the notebook could you clarify which it is? Thanks.

I'm going to answer that question with a couple of questions:

    1. Do you want a notebook or do you want a huge (16x11") desktop replacement computer?

    2. Can you wait for the next version of the Envy? The version you describe is somewhat outdated now.

The new dv7t-6xxx have 2 USB 3.0 ports and no eSata port. The previous dv7t-5xxx (also a sandy bridge model) had no USB 3.0 ports, but did have the 4 USB 2.0 Ports and one them was a shared eSata port. The 5xxx series was introduced in early January, but had the defective sandy bridge B2 chipset. In late February/early March, HP began selling the 5xxx series again with supposedly new B3 chipsets. The 6xxx series was introduced on or about March 13 and theoretically came only with the B3 chipset. Some utilities appear to indicate that it was still a B2 stepping, but ripwind opened his dv6t and proved it to be a B3 stepping. Also, Intel now indicates on its site that utilities may incorrectly report the B3 chipset as the B2 chipset.

Well.. over all I would like a laptop that would be good for 1080p full hd video editing.. the screen size isn't really that big of a deal but build quality and reliability is.

And I suppose I could wait but how often do they upgrade their lines? Any way of really telling?

I've also had it crash in firefox (with youtube video playing) without itunes running. When it happens, mouse clicks stop responding while the cursor still moves. then the cursor stops moving and if I had sound playing, it just repeatedly plays the tone and the fans start reving up.
