well my laptop has now been delayed for the second time only now it has been pushed back till the 3rd of May.

    ordered:3-27
    Due to ship:4-11
    Delayed to: 4-19
got another email last night with the Delay to 5-3. I can understand A delay but this is infurating, Im in school I need a computer and with this latest delay it will take more than a month to get it, if it even ships on the 5-3 date. I'm seriously debating cancelling the order-I'm tired of the b.s. and the fact that all I get is "we are sorry for the delay".

Well, the problem is with their suppliers. HP's only problem is with how they're handling the PR.

How's the feel of the touchpad and its buttons? Do the buttons have nice travel? Are they stiff? Is multitouch better now with the new touchpad+separated buttons?

Along with the touchpad as mentioned by king, how's the keyboard feel on the dv7t, and do you guys think the keys will get worn out? Should I look into a keyboard cover to tackle the fading/erosion problem?

My last HP, a dv9700z Pavilion -- the keys after years of use, showed some fading and indentation. And by some I mean a lot... >.>

The keys fell realy good along with the touch pad. The puttons are not stiff at alll and multi-touch works great also. The toch pad is nice and big so that you can move around easier. The keys also have a very good durabulity fell to them. In fact, I'am writing on it know! I just got it yesterday :D :D

Can someone elaborate a bit more on the multitouch ? Is it like the fruit company where it takes two fingers to scroll, pinch and zoom etc ? I am just trying to get an idea, as I have never used multitouch before.

    Thanks :D

Yes and yes. For multi-tuch to scroll down on a page you use two fingers and to zoom in or out you spreed you fingers. It is exactly like an ipad or ipod touch.

I have been looking for keyboard cover for my upcoming dv6 and also my gf's older hp laptop. If you find any keyboard covers made for HP's please post or PM me the link. All I have been able to find as of yet is covers for the sony VAIO series.

Guys lets keep to writing stuff about the dv6t and dv7t not about delays. Everyone has gotten delayed so get over it and quit complaining. Its exhausting to have to read through everyone's complaining to actually get good information about the computer I ordered, for example the multi-touch or switchable graphics.

I'll keep you updated. Thus far the only one I'd been able to find is this: Hp 15 inch -17 inch Laptop Keyboard Skin, FREE Shipping, Hp PHONE 15 inch -17 inch Laptop Keyboard Skin

It looks crummy though, and the fact that it's applicable to SO many models makes me doubt it's credibility.

I couldn't take it anymore and just gave up and called in to have them honor my order via Quickship. The rep had to walk through the website to verify with me that the Quickship model even existed. I told them that it was completely unreasonable to delay my order with the excuse of inventory shortage when they had inventory on the shelf. He agreed. He cancelled the existing order and placed the quickship order for me.

The only differences between my old order and my new quickship unit ( http://www.shopping.hp.com/product/rts_notebook/rts_notebook/1/storefronts/LH593UA%2523ABA)) are the following:

    RAM 6 GB instead of 8GB - $60
1 TB 5400 RPM drive instead of 640 GB 7200 - Planned on getting hybrid anyhow
    (1) 6 Cell instead of 6 & 9 Cell - $60
    Bluetooth - $25

    Old Order: $923.99-$60(8 GB upgrade) = $860.99
    New Order: $999.99-$100 (courtesy discount) = $899.99
    Priced at Old Specs: $999.99-$60-$60-$25 = 854.99

Looks as though, I picked up a little more with the lightscribe and the software that comes with it (Corel) that you would have paid for in a custom configuration. I didn't have any major excuses except for the fact that HP already had my money, and enough time elapsed that I already paid Amex. So I told them to honor my order with quickship, because either way, it was the same inventory.

I have the dv6-6091nr quick ship model, which is the new one, and when I first saw the specks it said the amd 6570 graphics card. But if you click on specks, and scroll down they have a pdf version speck page that says it has 6770m amd graphics card. here is the link to the pdf version. http://www.shopping.hp.com/shopping/pdf/lh593ua.pdf
Once I recieved my quick ship model( which was yesterday) I checked the graphics card and it is the 6770m amd, like the pdf version says.

In the specs pdf ( http://www.shopping.hp.com/shopping/pdf/lh593ua.pdf), it actually specifies "Radeon™ HD 6770M switchable graphics with 1024MB GDDR." Quite confusing, but I think there's a post from the past couple of days confirming the 6770 in the quickship model.

I have a n00b question: how much of a difference in gaming performance should be expected between the 1 gb GDDR5 6770 and the 1024 mb GDDR5 6770?

They are the same, 1000mb=1gb. So the performence should not change.

It's the same card, just different units for the quantity of memory. So, as previously posted, 1024mb = 1gb.

I have a question and would appreciate any help. I honestly don't know that much about computers and was wondering what kind of processor would be a good fit. I use my computer primarily for browsing the web-i usually have multiple tabs open at once, watching movies and shows online and schoolwork -so powerpoint and word.

is this one over kill for my uses?:

Try using coupon code NB8095 to get 33% off the new DV6T QE, this should be more than enough power for what you need

Total should come out to about $770 (but you'll have to add tax to that)

I use an Invisible shield copy cat on my iPhone and it is great, but I dont know how likely the brushed aluminum is to scratch.

As a side note I am thinking of selling my second dv6tqe on eBay. Do you guys think that I could sell if for ~$950? I would sell it with a 1TB HDD and a 9 cell battery. Most people would probable not know about the coupons that HP has.

    Hey everyone,
My order was supposed to ship on 4/18 so on 4/19 I call around 8:30pm and nicely ask what is going on and they tell me to call back at 10:00pm if i haven't received any notifications by then.
I call at 11:00pm and of course I don't receive anything so I turn on my smart/nerd mode telling them that I need my computer for very important 3D modeling and rendering. I also told them I understand that the supplies are short with the recent tragedy in Japan but that hp isn't building cars which seem to take less time.
For those who are still waiting and ordered your laptops on 4/1 or before, call them and ask them to be listed on the priority list for the shipping and they will do it if you play your cards right (working for pixar or something like that :) )
In a world of hustlers you gotta be the ultimate hustling machine. ;)

I guess they're too busy keeping up with this week's scheduled builds to do anything about last month's scheduled builds.

I considering selling my second DV6QT on eBay instead of returning it to HP. Do you guys think I could get atleast $950 for it. Here are the specs:

    # Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
    # • 2nd generation Intel(R) Quad Core(TM) i7-2630QM (2.0 GHz, 6MB L3 Cache) w/Turbo Boost up to 2.9 GHz
    # • 1GB Radeon(TM) HD 6490M GDDR5 Graphics [HDMI, VGA]
    # • FREE Upgrade to 6GB DDR3 System Memory (2 Dimm)
    # • 1TB 5400RPM Hard Drive with HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection
    # • FREE Upgrade to Norton Internet Security(TM) 2011 - 15 Month Subscription (activation required)
    # • 9-Cell Lithium-Ion Battery (over-sized) - Up to 9.75 hours of battery life +++
    # • 15.6" diagonal High Definition HP BrightView LED Display (1366x768)
    # • SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-R/RW with Double Layer Support
    # • HP TrueVision HD Webcam with Integrated Digital Microphone and HP SimplePass Fingerprint Reader
    # • Intel 802.11b/g/n WLAN
    # • Standard Keyboard
    # • HP Home & Home Office Store in-box envelope

I paid $877 for it and I want to make a respectable profit if I am going to sell it. Should I do it? Also note that most people don't know about HPs coupons. The real reason I want to sell this is so I can swap out the 1TB 5400RPM in my Quick Ship with the 640GB 7200RPM in the customized one. What do you guys think is the max I can expect to make?

I think I'd send it back. You can get the quick ship with as good or better specs for about the same anyway. It's missing the video upgrade and has the slower hard drive, so probably not worth the hassle, but there are suckers in the world :D
