Does anyone know if some parts for the dv6/dv7 are manufactured in Japan? I know that they are assembled in China, but that could be some of the problem if that is the case. I ordered on the 15th with a ship date of the 29th, as soon as I hear anything I will post it.

Yep, just i said it before
BUT... this is not the first time.. some days ago, the same mistake happened with the pictures -

Honestly, at this point, I don't even know...
I hate the color of the new laptops, they are likely to be delayed for god knows how long because of the supply issues, and just all this mess. Blah.
I suppose I might as well just keep my dv7-5000. -
Wow! I just jumped over to this forum to see if anyone received one of the new dv6/7 yet. I'm glad I ordered a Sager and I'm not having to deal with these delays.
Good luck guys! -

So it looks like HP missed the estimated ship date on the DV7tqe. Ordered mine back on the 13th, with the estimated ship date for the 25th. I hope they don't delay too long, or I may have to start looking elsewhere. The local stores are starting to advertise Sandy Bridge quad-core machines, and other manufactures are already shipping. It would be hard to walk away from the good price I got from HP though, a comparable Dell XPS17 or a Sager or whatever, would certainly cost more.
On the subject of color; I wonder if HP was going to release a silver model once they started shipping orders. The web master may have been scheduled to make the changes to the site and wasn't informed that the ship date had been pushed back. How's that for a theory? Also, if you already ordered a DV7t, I don't think you will randomly be getting a silver unit like some people have been speculating. Personally, I don't think the umber looks all that bad, but I need to see it in person to make a final verdict. The umber does look better in the brochure (not so shiny) then in other posted photos or in the videos. One things for sure, it's not the "new black".
Other thoughts; I'm not sure the DV7tqe has switchable graphics, I see people say it's confirmed, but I'm not convinced. In my opinion the information on the 6770m drivers from the HP site isn't confirmation for the quad edition at all. I don't believe the 5xxx series Sandy Bridge DV7qe's had switchable graphic, so maybe HPs going that route again. I know this subject has been beaten to death, but until the DMV, errrr I mean HP starts shipping these things, it's becoming therapeutic to come here and speculate. -
I am considering cancel order and move over other alternatives.
Color problem should be poop brown for all orders for now until they put some color choice option.
Switchable graphic is confirmed by dv7 manual pdf. Do not worry. -

Well, I just got off the phone with HP, I'm glad there's some decent reps after talking to some idiots that don't know what's going on from a week ago...
this time they got my info, ask me what i wanted in the new one, told me what to do to return my old one back...i'm all set...just got to wait for it...i don't mind the wait, i got a couple other computers around the house...
thanks for the awesome deal HP...free USB 3.0 and BR upgrade... -
I made my username QuadcoreDV6 when I first got my DV6 back in January before the Sandybridge recall. This is a great laptop that has taken everything I've thrown at it without as much as a hiccup so I'm not trashing HP or these laptops at all. The reason I didn't order one of the new DV6 machines is because of the display and knowing that I'm going to have whatever laptop I buy for a long time I wanted to make sure I got a display I was going to like.
I looked at the Dell XPS 15 w/ 1080p display but the 540m video card in it isn't very impressive. I found Sager which had everything I was looking for, Matte finish 1080p display, great graphics card (which can be upgraded), etc and it was just over $200 more than I paid for this DV6.
I'll agree that Sager isn't a household name like HP & Dell but I wouldn't say it is a no name, POS brand. Sager is very well known in the gaming community for making high quality machines and has been so for years and years.
As far as my parents money goes...I'm 32 and far, far past the point of having mom and dad pay my way. Actually, my parents never bought me a computer, I built my first desktop by buying componants with money I earned from bagging grocerys when I was 15. I've been building desktops ever since then and I'm just getting into tinkering with laptops now.
So, if anyone else has a problem with me or my Sager, I have 3 letters for you...GFY!!

QuadCore, check the gaming forums.
Clevo laptops marketed under the Sager name are considered good quality, and good performers for the money, but Sager's CS is not viewed so highly.
The general consensus seems to be that if you don't want to overpay greatly for AlienWare, or deal with Asus or Sager customer service, you should buy a Sager from a reputable reseller who will stand behind it, like maybe Xotic PC. HP doesn't seem to be on their menu at all.
My take?
Since 1600x900 is fine with me for a 17.3" (I'm currently browsing this forum on a 1920x1080 23.6" that I have to greatly magnify the text on), I expect to be highly satisfied with an $810 laptop that has more speed than was even available in a mobile CPU one year ago combined with one of the fastest 30 Watt GPUs on the market.
Now, what happened to all those sub $100 deals on 64GB SSDs I was seeing in November/December? I thought they'd be selling for $65 by now. -

When you click on the tracking info, where does it say it is sitting now?? -
@Jerohm, I understand, but I find it hard to believe that if I'd register a month or two earlier, have a few more posts, I'd get a hell lotta more credibility. Anyway, I'm located in LA county, won't give too much info over the web, obviously. It's coming from Shanghai, China.

big surprise ... and when somebody shows up out of nowhere, it DOES SPEAK volumes... and irrespective of MY credability level, you were just acting a bit juvenile... hold your head up high, you're a pillar of society. -
Waited a whole 2 months for a SB laptop and I can't stand it anymore...
Anyway, as for your question for why I think it's by hand. It's because they ship them in mass loads, I don't think they can just scan something and it instantly updates on tracking. But I could be wrong because I don't know how laptop companies' shipping department works. -
-
-
anyway to more important things, the screen shot he showed shows a DV6, so DV6s may be shipping out first. idk, but there may be a delay in D7s? I got a DV7, checked today, hasn't shipped yet. How about DV6 peoplem anyone have a tracking #? -
I ordered a dv6 on the 13th and still have no recieved a tracking # or shipment notification
-
lol i'm pretty sure "luckyguy" completely ruined the credibility of the guy with the screenshot... which was probably "luckyguy"s intention, keep that in mind -
Has anyone just called HP regarding their shipment? I would love to hear from someone who has actually received their new laptop.
