is it SATA or SATA II for the HD connectivity in the HP Pav 6000 ?

And can any of the owners of the dv6t with a 7200RPM HDD provide the model number of his HDD?

    Thanks

You should be able to find Coolsense through that program

If you did a clean windows install, then yes you need to install the synaptics driver.

If not (errr regardless, once you have synaptics driver, then you'd find it here):
    Start
    Control Panel
    Mouse
Device Settings (should have a red icon next to it - synaptics symbol)
    Settings
    Scrolling
There should be two icons to the right of scrolling. A "gears" symbol and a "?"
    Gear Symbol
    Enable ChiralMotion

I think you need to adjust the driver settings for the colors. I noticed on my dv7t 6xxx and dv6t 5xxxx (previous gen - returned) that the "Black" color seems "Blue-ish." I adjusted my contrast or brightness and it's all good.

I wanted to know how to manually disable the trackpad light (I remember reading about a FN + some other key combo) but I can't seem to find it.

Actually, the HDs are are hooked up to the SATA III ports (6GB) and the other 4 ports are SATA II (3GB). They all should run backwards compatible however.

I thought they came with a tool to display cpu/gpu temps on the desktop?

Most of the forum members posting here have very cool gpu temps (50s and 60s) and slightly frightening cpu temps (80s to 90s):
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/hp-pavilion-notebooks/568150-gaming-dv6tqe-dv7tqe.html

    P7700 is pretty good overall.
7000 gpu score is the best I've seen by far, but 900 is the most severe overclock I've seen too. What's standard voltage for the 6770m?

I got a couple of the Ultra USB to VGA/DVI/Hdmi adapters and can run 3 monitors plus the notebook display using one of either the VGA or HDMI ports. If you use two external monitors with the VGA AND HDMI ports the notebook display is disabled. The Ultimate units work great for me. I got mine here.... Just wanted to let you guys know that the Webcam is very slow based upon the lighting situation, you can turn off Automatic lighting compensation which will make it very smooth. Since it is such a large (HD) resolution it takes longer time than with other webcams and I tried it in the dark and it works wonderfully (that small LED does wonders)

    Always trying to help,
And I will do some reviews and video uploads when I get a chance, so do you guys think I should switch to latest AMD drivers? Games are working FINE AS HE double hockey sticks but issues with Total Media Theatre Bluray which asks me to update drivers

Hello, i would like to change the termal grease on my dv6, it's not the last model but the 2010 version.
Can i change the termal grease without losing the warranty? Is there some kind of stickers on the heatpipe that may couse some warranty problem?

Thanks to anybody who answer me, i really need to do something to my pc 'cause the cpu reaches 98°C whyle playing.

Go to Synaptics website then click on drivers, download and install new driver. I did it yesterday and can say one finger scrolling is much better.

Or check 7ouie post (#4007) he gives instructions on how to enable through setting, I didn't have the option there so I had to install the new drivers.

I don't have my laptop yet so I can't really give you concrete info, but earier in this thread (3-5 pages) we were talking about a chiral option to scroll. I believe someone explained it as you maneuver your finger in a small circle clockwise to scroll down and counter-clockwise to scroll up. If anyone who has their laptop could confirm this that would be great and much appreciated.

I haven't got my dv7 yet but on my old laptop I downloaded Synaptics Scrybe software with the Chiral scroll feature and it does work quite well I thought. You just describe a circle with your finger clockwise to scroll down continuously and anticlockwise to reverse. My old laptop was at least 5yrs old so this one should work!

My Intel G1 80GB died yesterday, during secure erase.

CRC error, I/O error. I tried everything including firmware but still dead :(

Bought June 2009 so last longer than those anyway.

Wow .. gee that made that backup part hard to find on the main interface. Who would of thought it be in the control center.
Also, why is it egistec?? Isn't it supposed to be by Authentec?

As for SSD failing ... it was pretty much expected considering the condition people put it in.

My dv6 handle Crysis 2 on Very High pretty well. Also note that the resolutions are different. (DV6 is lower res than the DV7) If you are not a big gamer, then it should not be a problem for you. If you want a laptop that will be able to run the latest games at the highest settings with out any lag, look elsewhere.

Can anyone verify this? No offense but I don't usually trust new posters who like directly to a file or another forum.

It is very unlikely that anyone at HP will every notice. There are no stickers that I am aware of. Someone in the gaming thread applied new thermal compound. Look on page 14-16 for more info. Mine peeks at 93°C so I decided to buy a cooler. It should help.

Hey, has anyone else notice that the color settings is only controllable through the Intel graphic properties. I can't seem to change color settings, digital vibrance in video setting for example, using the ATI catalyst control. Doesn't matter which GPU im using. Is this normal?

    Response appreciated.

That i believe is completely incorrect, almost any new card can handle CoD4 at medium. Are you sure you weren't running the integrated Gpu. I think you must've not upgraded the GPU from 6490m. That would be a big mistake unless you're not a gamer. It was only a 20$ upgrade i believe.

I didn't think of that. 6490m would be about 1/3 the frame rate of the 6770m. Probably not much different from running on the Intel 3000 graphics.

Two complaints with mine (just so everyone knows)
    1) BURNED OUT LED on my monitor (NOT stuck pixels, an ACTUAL black spot that spans 5-10 pixels, with no rough handling. after 2 weeks)
    2) AND my touchpad mouse is starting to sound like its "coming loose" like the touchpad is separating from something that is holding it down when I "tap it" to click ....
I am not saying others shouldnt buy this system (dv7qte-6000) just be aware of the issues that "may" arise.
On a positive note windows 7 x64 update has a Video driver (ATI 6770+ Intel) as an update available for this system already,
    TY all for listening.

I expect so. I installed Cyberlink Power Director (it's 64 bit, optimized for i7, multicore capable, and will use the GPU to accerelate rendering). I just did a bit of dabbling yesterday, and it is smokey fast.

Not sure about the graphics design. I do a lot of software dev and so far it is fanstatic

Your monitor uses an array of LEDs for backlighting and is not per pixel, therefore its the pixels themselves that are damaged.

You all scared me. I'm expecting my dv7t anytime now and I was looking forward in playing Crysis 2 and COD4 BO, at lest on medium settings. 6770m was a no brainer upgrade even if you don't play games.

Don't worry. The 6770M is a great card. I can play Crysis 2 on Very High perfectly and on Extreme with only a little bit of screen tearing.
