BIOS Revision F.07. I didn't see a revision date.

Well I finally received my DV6Tqe 6xxx CTO (BIOS Rev F.07) in and I have so say my initial opinon is that I love it! First impression out of the box was that it had a nice brushed finish (that LOVES fingerprints). Right away I decided that the crapware was slowing it down and I decided to do a clean install so I used the following link to download my own legal windows 7 64x iso.
http://forum.notebookreview.com/win...-7-download-links-just-like-vista-before.html
Burnt it a DVD using Alochol 120.
Downloaded the updated Intel 6X chipset management drivers via:
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=20019&ProdId=816&lang=eng
Then burnt the above intel drivers and the swsetup folder to a DVD for preparation of a clean windows install.
Booted from the win7 dvd, deleted all partitions (except the 200mb one), created a new partition utilitzing the full drive and quick formated it. Installed a clean windows 7 64x Home Premium (using my original key on the bottom of the laptop). Installed the downloaded intel chipset drivers. Installed all swsetup\drivers from the swsetup folder with the exception of the BCBT7 (bluetooth drivers) and myWAN3 (see below). When I attempted to install the BCBT7 drivers I got the following error: "No bluetooth device was detected". I have nothing in Device manager that shows any problems. The issue I had when attempting to install the myWAN3 drivers was I couldn't figure out how to install it. I double clicked on setup and got a blank "dos" command line box that did nothing.
Bluetooth was listed before the clean install in control panel and it isn't there now. My laptop also "freezes" ocassionally for 30-60 seconds randomly (believe it did this prior to clean install), then resumes as normal.
My questions are what do I need to do to get bluetooth working?
Any ideas on the freezing?
Recommendations on a good drive image software so I can burn my clean windows install to DVDs, boot from them and restore in the future?
Thanks for your help in advance! -

What type of cooling pad would you guys recommend for the dv6t?
Also, can someone summarize the ventilation system? I don't really know where air enters and leaves.
Thanks -
Well, does select edition mean HP Pavilion dv7 (4xxx) series too is included in this forum?

So, I've noticed something that's been really bothering me. Whenever I watch video or play a game on my DV7t, I'm getting this horizontal line/split in the image. It almost looks like the upper fifth of the image isn't refreshing as fast as the rest of it.
Is anyone else seeing this? Any recommendations? Thanks. -
You are right, i just found the link and tried to pass that info. But didn't think of posting the link will be something wrong. I should have tested it first.
Some one replied me that its giving issue. I tried it and i did get the same issue. After lil investigation i found that, the link given is a patch to a purchased version of a software, BioExcess from egistec.com. The site has a 7 day trial version of BioExcess and BioExcessPlus. I tried BioExcess and it did work for me to open firefox 4.0 and fingerprint scanner is recognized by this software.
But, this is of no use. Sorry for the quick copy paste. But, learned a quick lesson. -

To get back to hp simplepass2011, you should uninstall the installed version of software from egistec link, and click on start and type recovery manager in the search box. It will show up the recovery manger in results, click on it and select the drivers and software option(1st) and it will show all the drivers and softwares to reinstall, go to software section and click on hp simplepass 2011 and click install. You have to restart the computer and before restarting please save your work and click OK. HP simplepass2011 will be installed and will get a prompt for scanning the fingerprint in IE after restarted.
Hope this helps. Once again sorry for the inconvenience. -

Owners, how is the sound system on the DV6t ?
Speakers are solid?
is it too quiet? Sound over headphones, does it hiss or crack? -
-
Does the dv6t has a built in subwoofer like the ENVY model? -
-
Does anybody have an idea on how much the dv7-6000 costs? It is not even listed in HP website and the closest one i found about it says nothing about the price !
-
-
Starting at $1,099.99 which is right off the HP Shop section. -
Heck ! I should have known about it earlier , i wanted a CTO laptop and just ordered a HP Pavilion dv7-4295us which has exactly the same specs and is exactly the same cost ! But the 6000 series has a better graphics card which would have been extremely great for me

-
Well, excuse my ignorance, but what exactly is SATA II and III for ? Whait is the difference between them?
P.S- I dint even get my hands on the laptop yet but ordered and even if i return it as soon as i get it,wont they ask for a proper reason? And how long will the process take before i finally get the 6000 series? I need one before May 20 ! -
Anyone elses F5 button, not refresh?
-
As for receiving your laptop by May 20th you may be out of luck, or I should say the chances are low that you would receive the 6000 series by then, I ordered mine on April 23 and it has an estimated build date of May 23. -
OMG!! Well, the SATA III is then not going to be a deal breaker for me and also, they build the 6000 series? i thought it was a ready to buy,in stick model always ! I am quite happy with the dv7-4295us i ordered
Only problem is the graphics card :/ So badly wish there was some chance for me to upgrade to the 6770M card
-
The SATA III port is a type of harddrive interface which allows a higher data transfer rate than the SATA II port. SATA II ports cold be a bottleneck if you wanted to put a very fast Solid State Drive or a new High speed SATA III HDD. I do not think there is a reason required to return the unit prior to the 21 day period from the date of delivery. I think you could tell them anything like i need SATA III or dont like the video card. The 20th is a long shot for a order date of today I would say. I ordered my notebook on the 25th April and It is flying to me now shipped on the 4th may but I sure was surprised to see it ship that quick! It was scheduled to ship May 23. Most have not been shipping that fast.

Uh oh,i am not willing to risk it and also have no plans on using the SSD ! Thanks, you have been a real help !

My initial impressions of the dv7t (See my sig for specs).
1. Screen - I don't have a problem with the screen. I come from a 2006 1600x900 Toshiba that I feel is similar. I used a matte screen on that one. This one is glossy. Viewing angle isn't an issue for me.
2. Build Quality - This is probably my main concern. I felt that my 2006 Toshiba had a better build. I noticed the gaps between the metal face and the plastic bezel. I guess this is where the cost was kept down. For me it isn't a deal breaker but I think this would be my only complaint.
3. Installed an 80 GB SSD and moved the 7200 RPM 640 GB drive to the second bay and this thing is fast. Lowest score from the Windows Experience Index is 6.9 for video. Performed clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate and put only a few of the HP items back. So far no issues.
4. Installed COD: World at War and can run it at full resolution all options on and it is playable. -
Anyone with a blu-ray drive in their DV7 notice anything odd? For some reason nearly every time I open a video or audio file with WMP11 the blu-ray drive initializes (you can hear it, even with no disk in the drive), which causes WMP11 to freeze for like 5 seconds. Very annoying. I also hear the blu-ray drive initialize randomly (very infrequently) when I'm just doing normal surfing/working.

Ok so I did my first clean install on my new DV6TQE last night. Went well but was worried. Anyway, I went through the driver thread and I installed everything. I still feel like I'm missing some stuff though. When I change the volume, the beats logo doesnt pop up anymore, and despite being installed, I cant find any of the ATI software to switch from the intel gpu to the 6770. Is there a program I can download that can automatically download and install all of the required drivers? I actually re-installed hp smart advisor or whatever it is because it had a list of all the drivers and hardware on my pc but it shows that there arent any updates I need to do. Any guidance? Also plan on doing a little review after school...
