    Yeah, I wanted to know if it was possible to transform this notebook into a so called "Hackintosh" .. got myself a 2 day ban. XD Anyhow, np!

    I need to know the exact dimensions in order to buy a sleeve. Can anyone help me out?

    The sleeve will fit laptops up to dimensions of:

    * Length: 14.2" (36 cm)
    * Width: 10.6" (27 cm)
    * Height: 1.8" (4.5cm)
    * http://snupped.com

    or

    0.7 x 12.6 x 15.4 inches
    http://myeasymover.com/images/cargo black.jpg

    Will this work?
    Thank you.

    Too short. When I searched for dimensions I found they were:

    14.9 in (L) x 10.12 in. (W) x 1.34-1.65 in. (H)

    Another thing occurred to me - if you get the 12 cell battery that many have called essential, that's going to add a 1" protuberance. Might be OK in a horizontal bag if the laptop doesn't go all the way in the compartment, but for a sleeve or vertical bag that seems impossible.

    I'm now thinking of getting the high capacity 6 cell and looking for a second online somewhere, hopefully at a discount. I'll have to find out the part numbers for them. If anyone knows, please post. Thanks.

    Ahh shiznits, thanks.

    I still havent made my mind up about the 12 cell..
    its kinda expensive for now. I imported from the states
    and my country is charging 25% import-taxes.

    That high capacity 6 cell.. are u sure its load will last longer?

    I read somewhere that it (not sure what battery exact) doesnt
    actually carry more juice, it just survives more charges before it needs to be replaced. Im not sure though, could be another battery.

    There are 3 6-cell options on the US site (I may have the names wrong, but the descriptions are accurate):

    1. the regular one
    2. longer lifespan - this is the one that can take more charge cycles
    3. high capacity - this one has 16% more power/juice than the standard 6-cell

    Then there's the 12 cell. In some of the reviews for that, people were saying it had more than double the charge of the 6 cell, although they could have been comparing it to an older/used one that had lost some charge. Then again, maybe it's using the high capacity cells. That would be ideal.

    I'm wondering if anyone knows if you can swap the battery while the machine is in hibernate/standby. If not, that's another win for the 12 cell. But that seems like a dumb limitation.

    I'm also not impressed with the limited battery life of the standard 6 cell since I get about 1.5 hours of life. Does the 12 cell really add another inch of depth? Yikes!

    Also how easy is it to upgrade the wireless-N adapter? I want to use a wireless-N router.

    I just received my replacement DV6T (The old one was configured incorrectly it should of had a TV Tuner) and the first thing I noticed was the display is no longer washed out by default(no adjustment to Gamma settings are needed) The display in the New unit is a Phillips LCD and the old washed out one was a Seiko LCD.

    I've had it a week, and yes I like it overall. After playing with the display settings the screen is decent, as far as the resolution I'm getting used to it. I like the ability to have two or three windows open at the same time side by side. Although I'm not using this for gaming per-se, the overall performance/speed of this thing is what really impresses me. I'm probably going to do a fresh install and get rid of the bloatware to make it even faster. With 4 GB of Ram, I rarely use over 50% with multitasking several applications, and it runs really well. As has been said by others, the keyboard feels a little weird but I'm getting used to that as well. Not a fan of the touchpad, but since I use an external mouse it doesn't bother me and I disabled it since I was scrolling on webpages unintentionally. I should have got the wireless-n adapter, but I'm probably going to use a USB one with a new wireless N router. The audio is acceptable to me, but could be better. I still have to play with it more, but for the money it's a good value.

    I ordered mine on November 2nd, and it was shipped out a November 10th so I want to know as well
    wait... if you ordered yours on the 11th of November, it must mean that I have a seiko screen then. Or maybe not..
    @docangle
    like what Ramzi said, how can you tell the difference? and is it that much better that I should return mines and reorder?

    PCwizard says my screen is Samsung, while Nvida control panel says it is a Seiko

    Hey guys, I finally got my dv6t Quad in, but I have a few questions:

    1) When I first turned my computer on, the screen turned on and off about three times until the beginning setup actually started. Is this normal?

    2) There's some plastic wrapper in between the screen and the base, does anyone else have this problem? What did you do to remove it?

    3) I ordered the High Capacity 6-cell battery, but I actually received two batteries instead of just the High Capacity one. Is this a mistake, and if not, how do I tell which is the High Capacity one?

    4) I noticed on the website that a Blu-Ray drive is now a free upgrade for the system? Can I have them send it to me or get a replacement with the 21-day system that has the Blu-Ray Drive?

    5) I received no DVDs that normally come with a laptop, such as a Windows 7 DVD, backup software, drivers, etc. Is this a mistake also or what?

    6) None of the games I play are in widescreen for some reason, I get black rectangles on both sides of the game

    7) Adjusting the volume in a game using the volume touch-slider thing forces the game to be minimized for some reason.

    8) Lastly, am I the only one whose Touchpad is a huge fingerprint magnet? What can I do about that?

    Thanks for the help :)

    I just exchanged mine for the DV7t quad, got the wireless n-card & a 500GB HD for the same as I paid for the dv6t quad - 899.99 with the $400 coupon code: I know its bigger, but this is mostly for my use on my desk & moving to my media room. I think the added resolution & 8 cell battery & blueray player will be great.

    I called their support line & selected "exchanges" & told them that I wanted this coupon code: NBN4RK3WS Then they just did the exchange!

    I will try to answer these questions the best I can. I will ask a few of my own too.

    1. This did not happen to me.
    2. I did not have any plastic on this location. You may be able to just pull it off.
    3. I also ordered the high capacity 6 cell. I only received one battery, but there are no markings that say it is high capacity. The shipping invoice says that my package conatined a high capacity battery though. What does your invoice say?
    4. It is my understanding that you would have to send you laptop back and make a new one to get the blueray drive. I would recommend emailing their costumer service about this though. They responded to my email in less than 24 hours and were very helpful.
    5. I have heard that this is a new trend with computers. You need to create a series of backup disks. You can only make one set of recovery disks and they will be able to restore you laptop to its factory settings (including OS). There is a thread on here that mentions issues with burring these disks. It is recommended that you buy good quality DVD+R disks. It will take ~3 disks to create the back up.
    6. I havent ran into this problem when gaming. I have only played one game though. Have you attempted to alter the in game resolution settings?
    7. This happens to me too, I though I saw in a different dv6t (non quad) thread that this happened to those users also.
    8. My touch pad also attracts finger prints. I use the cloth that came with the laptop to clean it off. I also use a wireless mouse. (I didnt purchase the blue tooth upgrade).

    I saw that a previous user was able to get a Windows Experience rating of 6.9 for the CPU. What do I need to do to get this rating. Currently I have a 6.2 rating. I have ran CCleaner and uninstalled some of the extras that were included. Though I did leave in the hp media softwear.

    I am very happy with this laptop so far. I may not be the best person to judge I just upgraded from a 5 year old Dell laptop and a 6 year old Desktop. So I dont have any issues with the screen resolution. I do plan on purchasing a LCD monitor but that is so I can mount it in a page view so I can read papers.

    I purchased an extended accidental damage warranty. When my laptop was shipped to me it was damaged by FedEx and I had to get a brand new dv6t quad. The HP support people were awesome, very friendly and helpful. I was also impressed with their online help. I received a response email in less than 12 hours that was very detailed and helpful.

    The reason you are not getting 6.9 on the CPU score is your power settings are set to HP Recommended, change it to High Performance and Re-run the WEI assessment.

    Denon,

    Go to 'Control Panel', Appearance and Personalization, Display. On the Left Picker Column you will see an option to 'Calibrate Display' run this and turn Gamma all the way down and see if that helps.

Mine is still in production, and i wonder how long will it take before it actually ships... The estimated built by date is Dec 9th.. I wish I can get it sooner..

    I ordered 11/23. It shipped 11/30 and has an estimated delivery of 12/8 (Tuesday). As of this morning it says it's in my city already! I might do an unboxing video since I have yet to see one on youtube for this model.

    So I just got mine and I'm happy with it so far, I can't get the finger print reader to work though, it says devices is not connected but it's there in device manager, guess I uninstalled something I shouldn't , I won't use it anyway. I have 2 questions
    1)About the screen, in nvidia control panel it says it's a LP156WH2-TLA1, by a google search I learned it's an LG panel, it's pretty good IMO, no problem with it.
    Anyone else has the same display?

    2) Fans are set to always on in bios but I can't hear them at all, there is a very weak air stream coming out from top left of the laptop and idle temp for cpu is around 57-58c and for gpu is around 50c. When I play a game like crysis warhead, temp of both gpu and cpu jump to around 75-78c. Is it normal? Are the fans this quiet or something is wrong.

    thanks in advance

    Thanks for your contribution man, good to know youre happy with yours.

    As far as I know those temps are acceptable for a notebook.
    Just dont let it reach 82-85 Celsius.

    How is the battery life so far?

    I would be nice if they can offer SSD as an HD option instead of using the typical HD

    Hey all just wanted to post to say I am in the club now, BUT I haven't decided yet if I'll sell it when it arrives or if I'll keep it. HP gave me 4 different HDX16s all with problems, and now, because they aren't made anymore, they're giving me a similarly (though not as tricked out) dv6t quad. So, I'm having an inner debate on whether or not I shall open it and keep it or sell it. But until then, I'm a member of the club ;)

    I am planning to replace the HD with an SSD on my newly ordered HP dv6t Quad once I receive it. Are there any detailed guides/instructions available on how to do it?

    Is there any way to force fans to max speed? temps are really high, both cpu/gpu can get as high as 80-82c on heavy load. Anyone using a laptop cooler with dv6? which model works best with it?
    I hope someone find a way to undervolt core i7,it's impossible right now, I want to have 60c at full load, looks like wishful thinking without undervolting :/.

    i should be getting mine this week, i'll might also do unboxing video, my only worries are with the overheating, the crappy finger print reader, the glossyness, and the crappy screen resolution. i would also like to know which cooler would work with this...i wondered why hp doesnt have backlit keyboard?

    Your worries are very similar to mine..

    They do.. on the (discontinued) HDX series. Its rediculous that in this day and ago their 'top-notch' i7 notebooks dont get backlit keyboards.
    There is a way to get it btw, find a HDX keyboard and install it to your laptop. :eek: Seriously, they fit. I found some people talking about it at the HDX owners topic.

    And if your searching for a cooler you should try the *Enermax Aeolus CP001 Cooler Review + Pics* thread, exquisite review.
    The thing costs around 45 dollars.. depending where you live.
