Does Fedex delivery on Saturdays? My package is really close to my house right now. Hopefully I don't have to wait until Monday.

Just got home, will restore the Nvidia Control Panel settings to default.
And try out the ICC Color settings/apps our lovely kamerad has made available.
The video profile was almost sepia like, with almost no colors at all...
Funny thing is, while Everest and PC Wizard are seeing a SAMSUNG screen, Nvidia is registering a SEIKO screen?
Anyways, before restoring to Default Ive discovered you can back-up your settings and load 'm up later, thats what ive done.
Am curious how mine setting will display on an LG screen, give it a try:Attached Files:

Posting my question from the general forum here also.
*******
I would like the replace the HDD in my HP dv6t Quad with an SSD. Questions:
A. What is the best option to clone the OS (Win 7x 64 Prof) to the SSD? I want to be able to directly clone with drive without creating an image in between and doing a restore from that image. And the MBR should also be cloned. Some options that I know of are: Norton Ghost (Do I need v15 or v14 will work?), Acronis True Image Home (Not heard good things about it), StorageCraft's ShadowProtect (This might not work as I think I need to create an image first?)
B. And what partitions should I absolutely clone to the SSD? Current partitions are: C: (OS), D: (Recovery), System and HP_Tools
Thanks in advance for your advice. Regards. -
is anyones still stuck at dest sort facility??

I installed the latest BIOS F.13A and it seems everything works now (no iPod sync failures, Turbo Boost works even when booting with it plugged in, and I didn't experience any overheating problems when I booted into the Ubuntu 9.10 64-bit Desktop LiveCD and played around for 15 or so minutes.
However, I am having one issue, Windows keeps telling me I have an unknown USB device at Port_#0005.Hub_#0003 and Ubuntu was telling me it couldn't enumerate the USB device on port 5. Does anyone know how to fix this?
Here is a picture of the error:

Well, I'm not sure if it worked or not with factory BIOS but on HP's forums, people reported that Turbo Boost wouldn't work correctly unless you booted with the AC unplugged.

Alright, I FINALLY got my laptop yesterday (or the day before yesterday, it's 1:30 here). Didn't post yet 'cause I was too busy playing around with it
And I'm still busy reinstalling Windows 7 on it, since I can't seem to find any blank DVDs lying around anywhere. I might buy some tomorrow.
I actually had the normal shipping on my order, but before it shipped, I called HP saying that I was going on a vacation and expected it to be here before then, but because of the delay, it wouldn't get there in time. They said that they "could not change my shipping options, but could give me an additional 10% off if it came before the 22nd" (which was when I was going to leave). And then it came yesterday. ON A SATURDAY. I guess they really did change my shipping
They probably just didn't want to give me the 10%...
The laptop's great. It's actually better than I expected. The laptop stays cool the whole time! I was playing Portals today on max settings and 4xAA, finished it, and finished it again just 'cause it was so good, and when I checked back at my temps, everything was still going at 60-70ish degrees!
It's fast too. having 8 cores is just amazing. I love looking at the task manager and seeing each of the CPUs so cramped up next to each other that I can barely see what the chart is saying
I haven't tried any EXTREMELY heavy games on the thing yet, since I haven't gotten them yet.
I might try out Borderlands and MW2 soon, and I'll see what I think of it.
Actually, the new machine has already given me a BSoD twice already, just in one day.
The first time, I was trying to close that stupid "Activate Your Norton Internet Security" message that kept on popping up, and I guess it bluescreened with my excessive clicking...
The second time, I was at the loading screen on the startup of Portals, and while the computer was busy loading the game, I opened up and closed the Disk Drive, just to see what it looked like, and once I closed the drive back up, it gave me a bluescreen.
I hope nothing's wrong with the laptop...
Anyways, I'll most likely write a full review on this in a month or two, since I'm getting my new camera around then. I'm just worried that it'll be a bit late to do a review

$1157.22, including $83.23 tax ($1073.99 originally). I got Bing cashback, too, so it ends up $200-something off. And then the $50 coupon, which is basically worthless because the HP store generally has everything priced at $50 or more above what you can get outside. I might get a backpack or a flash drive for it, though. Even though I can get one of those for $20-30 outside.
Anyways, yay for new laptop! I'm already showing it off in my Sig XD
EDIT: Third BSoD today. It's the BUGCODE_USB_DRIVER one. Must be my mouse, but the updates for my mouse are being stupid and not working.
And Portals runs extremely well, even with everything completely maxed out, even AA. Looks like I need a more intensive game to play around with -
My laptop @ the local clearance, hope i will get today itself

So I just got my DV6t quad today! YaY! I'm making the recovery disks so then i can install Win 7 Ultimate 64 on it! I just have one question: My keyboard is matte, wasnt it supposed to me glossy. Thats what ive seen in the pics and heard from people. Also, i ordered the "High Capacity 6 Cell", how can I be sure that I got the right one and they didnt give the the normal 6 cell?
-
-
Thanks, ill check that once it gets done burning the recovery disks. Also, when you close the DVD drive and look at the laptop from the side of the drive, is the DVD drive perfectly fit with the laptop's body or is it off by like 1-2 mm? My DVD drive is not perfectly flush within the body when closed and off like 1 mm. It works fine though.

Bless you and thanks Khaledseif!! Its on the way for delivery. Can't wait to get home from work and play with it -
Has anybody tried to install linux on this lappy with the new BIOS though?
Have you tried rebooting and seen if that still remains? Also, tried running Windows update? -
-
Just updated BIOS to F.13 and Acronis True Image 2010 works like a champ, no more shutdown and Overheat messages. I am also getting sporadic readings for the LZ01 sensor, but the system is working normally. I am not getting the above 'Unknown USB Device'. Did you do a fresh install or are you using the factory image, if so did you install the HP Quicklaunch Button software?

I have Acronis True Image 10 personal , and i cannot boot from the created restore cd, I get a cannot detect active hdd partition error, is it all ok with Acronis True Image 2010??
-
Yes, you need Acronis True Image 2010, I could not get any of my old versions (10 and 11) to boot. also 2010 supports Windows 7 and will allow you to view and manipulate images under Windows 7.

I just stressed my Dv6t using Prime 95 and Furmark running at the same time! My CPU went up to 82 C and GPU went up to 102 C before i quitted the programs! Is that normal for running Prime 95 and Furmmark at the SAME TIME?
-
Sounds about right! Did the fans go to full blast?

I just tried to flash my bios to F.13 A , but the flashing utils is not showing any current and upgrade info the boxes are blank but the start button is still avaliable , is this normal.
Thanks. -
Thats how mine was and i clicked start, then it detected my current bios and stuff and asked me again for confirmation and flashed.
-
...but I guess that's just because I'm coming from a thinkpad here...
Also, i have a question. I'm using the 12cell battery and BatteryBar says that its "Full Lifetime" is 6:09, and I'm kinda skeptic about that. Does that mean my laptop lasts 6 hours when it's idle, or when I'm doing stuff? And how long of a battery should I be getting when I'm playing games? -
Is anyones power adapter input kinda loose? The adapter goes in pretty tightly and it doesnt come out easly it just moves around in there (where you plug it in the laptop). Also when it moves around, there are NOT any power disconnections so i dont know.
-
-
Also, how to you get the turbo boost feature on the i7 -720qm to work? my cpu doesnt seem to go higher that 1.6 Ghz even during intense applications (100% CPU usage).
-
EDIT: Okay, forget that. I was wrong. What docangle said should probably be correct
-
-
Does the Turbo Boost not work when in "Balanced" mode?
-
For monitoring turboboost clock speed don't use cpuz. It only show core speed of core0, download the turboboost technology monitor gadget from intel website. here is the link:
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=18353
It adds a little gadget to the sidebar showing the current clock speed of turboboost mode. Turbo boost works in balanced mode and even power saver mode. The OS has no control over frequency of core i7 cpus. All of the power management features are onboard and controlled by bios. Turboboost can not be disabled by OS. -
Please also note that a lot of factors are controlling the turboboost which will limit its use at full speed of the 4 cores, but will be obvious for less cores.

Thanks mj_mahyar14 : My fan went ballistic during the flash and on re-boot i got a overheating message, see picture below.

@Tinderbox the same thing happened to me but everything went fine. During flashing I had that intel turboboost gadget on the sidebar, when the process reached EC writing or something like that, it was showing clock speed of ridiculous numbers like 80ghz, I think bios installer was writing the tables/settings for cpu and cpu couldn't detect correct temperature/clock, so the fans went crazy fast and computer shutdown itself to prevent overheating, I mean a false positive occured because the case wasn't hot at all. Everything will work fine after it don't worry, but it's something hp should look into it, just think if computer shutdown itself before flashing is down and you have one expensive brick in your hands.

hey, did anyone order a regular drive, NOT lightscribe, but instead receives it freee*???

Tinderbox (UK) BAKED BEAN KING
Are you certain , just having the lightscribe icon on your takbar does not mean you have it in your dvd-rw , I have an model DVDRAM_GT20L with lightscribe.
