Congrats on your purchase, but I'm sorry to hear about the scratches. Does the touchscreen work with any kind of stylus or is it a capacitive-only stylus?

I'm under the impression that the "Int'l release" on the tracking means that it stayed overnight to pass through customs.

That means monday at the earliest. Noooo I hate weekends (for delivery)

As a high school student, this will be the first time in my life I am looking forward to a Monday, and that's saying a lot seeing as I have summer school (not remedial but for projects that will make my application look better).

Seems a Friday arrival is out of question.

A toast, fine gentlemen, that we make it through the weekend mentally unscathed from FedEx's diabolical weekends-off stature.

Peterc1, You can return it for another one if for some reason you are unsatisfied. You have 21 days if I recall correctly. There are people that posted info on battery life and temperatures for their laptops with quad cores, 720 I believe, earlier on in this thread. You might be able to get right to it with the thread search feature.

I hate living in Sweden when I see the price for a Dv6t with 160 gb SSD, can get one for like $900. In Sweden we only have normal Dv6 that are pre-configured and cost a lot more. Even with taxes etc it will be a lot cheaper for me to order from the US (just the 160GB SSD cost $500 in Sweden) but does anyone know if the warranty is worldwide and how I can go through with the order without knowing anyone trustworthy in the US?

Saw that someone said people on ebay are selling their service of letting people give him the configuration and he will order it and send it out to you, anyone got a link to anyone that is doing this service or is it just too risky?

Way too risky. Don't even think on it.

Just buy an SSD externally if it's that much.

It's not only the SSD, without the SSD it costs around $1.1k.
So if I then buy an SSD externally it would be 1.5-1.6k.

Unless you need i7 quad core power, which most people don't, the dv6z with an N930 is the better value. It is $30 cheaper than the i5-450M, $130 cheaper than the i5-520M, and $180 cheaper than the i5-540M when it performs basically equal to the 540M

Is the N930 cooler than the i5? I understand it can be undervolted while the i5 can't..

Handa, I think there was a guy from India on this thread earlier on that was ordering through a USA service, but I have no idea about trustworthiness or reliability. If it were me, however, I would further investigate some of these options.

Yeah, thanks for the idea, found a few that give you an address and then forward the mail to your address. But like you said, have to find reviews of them to see if it's actually worth going for. Found one that just take $8.50 extra and then of course the delivery which is like $80 to Sweden.

And even with that, it is still cheaper. Also if anyone knows if the 1 year warranty is worldwide I would appreciate an answer.

I assume that that means that it's staying in China for another weekend? (I went with the standard shipping).

I want to be able to play some heavy games like BF:BC2 and COD4, but besides that, nothing out of the ordinary.

Wow, that's definitely something to think about. So if it performs so much better than most of the i5s why is it $50 less. And is it a wives tale that AMD runs hotter than Intel?

I am the guy who ordered from India.I have contacted both HP USA and HP India and both confirmed that the warranty is global. They also sent me an email stating that

"All HP/Compaq consumer and business notebook PC's feature a Global 1, 2, or 3 year limited hardware and 30 day software support (90 day w/registration) return to Depot warranty.

The warranty is effective in countries around the globe where HP sells or supports your product. If you purchase your product in one country and then take the product to another country, you will receive the destination country’s standard warranty. It is best to contact a subsidiary headquarters in the destination country or region for service and warranty support information."

It is cheaper because AMD is always cheaper than Intel and the hottest I have seen an N930 running is 75C max, in a 35C room.
