I had a hp dv8t which was too big so i sold it to my cousin for 750, then I ordered a macbook pro 15" for a total of 2k with a ipod touch, Which I'm going to cancel first thing in the morning after I found this great deal!!!!
My config is

-
But there's the chance the HP are just bad at labeling and it does have the port. I hope it does, for your sake. -
No, that configuration does come with an HDMI port. Both the i5 and i7 config comes with it.
-
-
Edit: Nevermind, should search before asking.
-
God damn it my laptop is sitting in the city 20 minutes away from my current city. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
BLAST YOU SATURDAY! -
I'm torn between a DV6T Select Edition & an ENVY 14. The DV6T is perfect, sans one issue - lack of a 1600x900 screen.
Theoretically, it should be possible to swap it with a higher res screen. Does anyone know how the touch screen tech works in conjunction with the lcd? I would love to upgrade the screen resolution and still have the touch screen. -
I'm still on the fence about the TouchSmart screen. I could use it with the $400 off coupon, but I'm not sure if I'd actually use the touch features...
-
The $400 off coupon was the difference - just could not get the ENVY or Asus model to get close. I did get the touch screen - very curious about that. It may be absolutely a great addition to have, and why the DV6T is the best choice.
Only think I wish is that Costco honored the coupons. I would be great to have an MP model for up to 90 days to run through it's paces before determining that another model might work better. -
Dv6 is 10 minutes away from me...wish fedex delivered on saturdays...
-
-
Wow, mine just got to the sorting facility near my town. That was super fast shipping, it took less than two days from being picked up to get to NY. And I got the regular 5 day shipping. Too bad it's the weekend (probably the first time I've ever said that)
-
You guys know if its at your local fedex and their open you can just drive down there and pick the package up yourself.
-
-
I don't think so, I have done it with fedex and ups many times. As long as it's still there and its not out for delivery. So like if it happened to miss the truck going out. Then you just go an pick it up.
-
Hmm, maybe it depends on the shipper's contract, because the once or twice I tried to pick up a package at the local warehouse before delivery, the customer service people always give me the spiel about at least one delivery attempt. Or perhaps it's a state law thing.

Anyone who has the dv6t select want to post some pictures?
-
There's so few of these out or something... too bad HP is cagey about releasing review models. I'd like to see a review and a gallery on these.
On another note, half the shipment went through customs, the other half got delayed. lolwut? -
MagusDraco Biiiiiiirrrrdmaaaaaaan
Anyone had their dv6t with an i5 arrive yet?
Did the new catalyst drivers work on it? -
-
A handful of people have purchased this laptop early June. And are now nowhere to be seen. -
They must like them so much
-
Clean installed, everything is running perfectly. How are these temps at high performance, and i'm just doing daily tasks.
I am about to apply ICE7 on it right now. -
Mine's also stuck in Anchorage on a "clearance delay"... Morons.
-
Hey I purchased mine and am still around.
Find that poster Tex, he posted some great pictures of his DV6tSE a while back.
But I do agree with you that it's kind of weird, but I guess that's how these forums work. If I wasn't still in the process of exchanging my DV6tSE, I'm not sure if I'd still be around. Most people I think are around a lot when choosing a laptop, and then they lose interest.
Found Tex's post, with pics. Enjoy: http://forum.notebookreview.com/hp-...ect-edition-owners-lounge-28.html#post6421733
Edit 2: My package arrived and left Memphis, TN as of today. It's rocking and rolling it's way here! I want my SSD!!! -
-
4saken when you say clean install what do you mean?
-
-
So any can comment on temps before I start applying this new thermal paste... -
-
Your cpu temperatures aren't cooler. Their hotter.
And your overall computer case temperatures better be lower because you have lots of space inside the case, the laptop is has relatively no space inside of it.
Edit: plus 4saken has 4 cores so I'm sure the temps would be 4-5C higher. -
I can't seem to open my dv6t laptop, ive taken all the screws out :S I don't feel like prying it open... Is there any threads here?
-
Let me find the hp disassemble link. It's a pdf hang on a sec.
This is for the dv6-3000 series so the one that was released in may.
Edit: Heres the link to the pdf. http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02073871.pdf
Look under the removal and replacement tab in the pdf. -
-
Oh and also, what application are you using that is showing Feeds, System info, Network and Gmail? -
I just called FedEx and asked about the Clearance Delay, and apparently they need paperwork from me. She said something about a clearance form. What the heck is that supposed to mean?
Those of you having this problem, I'd suggest calling 1-800-247-4747 to see what's going on. -
-
I figure from other posts that if I call them I'd get about 10 different answers on 10 different calls from HP and/or FedEx. I'll wait until Monday to see if it clears.
Ngahh. -
Here's an update:
So I called HP, and they said it's nothing to worry about, and we don't have to do anything. They will sort it out with customs.
Just keep on waiting and move along -
so my computer is stuck in AK with the clearance delay as well... i talked to FedEx a few minutes ago and they told me that it wasn't just my package that was delayed so when one of our packages clears.. all the stuck ones should. The rep said the problem was with the broker used by HP and that department that works with customs comes back on Monday so she thought it would clear on Sunday night. let's hope because i'm getting sick of waiting!
-
-
If you can do a video I would love it!! Please i ask of you!!! -
4saken did the pdf from hp help in dismantling your pc?
-
No, its so hard to dismantle, I literally had to pry the screws out to get the middle piece off, and I pried the screws out and I still couldn't get the piece to come off. I just said F it, I was scratching my laptop bad. Its really a pain to do this, i guess I have to get a laptop cooler.

From How To Correctly Apply Thermal Grease | Hardware Secrets
" In case you don’t adopt a thermal solution compatible with the specific model of processor you use in your system, several problems can appear, such as random resets, freezes, reduction of processor lifespan, and it can even make the CPU burn, in extreme cases."
So what grease are you using and is it diff for laptop CPUs? -
Hmm...here's hoping that my i5 setup will be cooler. My laptop is sitting in seattle at the sorting facility probably 20 minutes from me. Hope I get it monday and run some tests on it. Mainly bfbc2 lol.
