I'm pretty worried about OC'ing my 5650 and I probably won't because this laptop is for college first and i can't have it crapping out on me. Can I get these results without OC'ing?
-
Probably similar results. I'm betting it's not a "huge" improvement. Maybe 5 fps or something like that. You'll see bigger results in games that use the gpu more, which are most of them.
As for oc'ing, just keep it safe. I hear the ones that don't meet 5730 standards are branded as 5650 cards. So the potential is there, but all cards are different. -
-
@ Erchino,
Something wouldn't make it run. I doubt it's hardware related, but the program just crashes as soon as I open it. Maybe I can try to figure out how to get it to run. -
Also, how the heck do I install the 10.6 drivers. I go to amd's website and choose notebook>radeon>radeon 5xxx>win 7 64bit and I download an updater, but when I run the updater it says it can't find anything?

$400 Deal is back up

Was a victim of the Alaska customs fiasco but... just got my dv6!!! Going to open it soon!

Hmmm how immoral would it be for me to order 3 different laptops I want to test (3 different processors) and to only keep one...:3

I might just do that then =]
I'd rather not have this indecision turn into me losing out on the $400 coupon like I had previously thought -
I'm also following the ENVY 14 thread and people are starting to receive their computers. Quite a few of them had to be sent back already because of a "whine" the computer makes. Has this been reported with the dv6tse?
-
I don't hear any whines with my dv6t. Nor do I hear any electrical / high freq. noises. I could be deaf though. I've been driving loud cars since I was 16, now 26 lol.
-
Even switching to Intel and back to ATI won't solve my sleep-issue. Will try to re-install ATI drivers now.
Also, do anyone know what fingerprint reader software I need to download and install? I pretty much put in my own version of Windows 7 as soon as I got it. -
Mine says it shipped today, we'll see how fast it gets here.
-
Just arrived! Looks beautiful. Digging in now.
I think I'm just going to run CCleaner rather than do a new, full clean install. I should make recovery disks first, right? -
So I just opened mine up, but when I go to turn it on. It doesn't turn on! What the hell?
-
Er...hope it's not DOA dcoast :\
Also, Handa, I just tried putting my computer to sleep and I keep getting black screens. Tried to close the lid and all that including updating the driver to the one from the driver thread. No success -
-
-
Doesn't the computer still work with a charging battery + AC charger? It turned on now, but when Windows starts, I get a bluescreen. Sigh...
-
-
Kiitens, that is one funny-yet-disturbing avatar pic. Where's it from?
-

-
My package came. And I slept through it.

Hibernate does not work either, this is just awesome!
-
I hope we don't all end up with a bunch of lemons.

Hey Guys, I've been following this thread (and the enormous one for the E14) for a while now, but this'll be my first post.
I got a shiny new dv6tse about a week ago, and after playing with it, I really like everything about it, except for the screen - seems a bit washed out, even after calibration (plus, I would really love a 1600X900 screen to complement the bluray player I got). I'm wondering if I should return it, and pray that the dv6 gets an option for a screen upgrade - what do you think the odds are of that happening in the next couple months? -
Well after staying on the phone with HP tech for an hour or so, they determined that the OS has to be reinstalled. They're sending recovery discs by mail that SHOULD be here tomorrow. From the Alaska customs delay to a DOA laptop, HP isn't impressing a first-time customer at all....
-
I generally don't trust HP quality and service, but I read abaddon's experience with the dv6z and had to follow suit. For the most part I like everything about this laptop. I don't think I'm sending it back in.
-
Yeee, Hp Shipped my laptop after 5 days ^_^ I hope i don't have any problem
-
Hey dv6tse comrads
mine just shipped today, and i ordered 5 days ago, what a surprise. I'll probably get it by the 21st, and will probably do a review after a bit of use.
Heres a question: I ordered the 9 cell battery, which is a bit more bulky than the 6 cell battery. Could anyone comment on how much bigger it is in size and how much more weight it adds to the laptop itself? thanks! because I heard about the heating issues with this laptop and want to buy a cooling pad, but i am not sure whether the battery size is an issue. -
So did anyone ever found out why it's so hot on the left palmrest? From what I can see in the service manual there is like nothing there and I cba to open it up to check.
-
-
You guys are scaring me here with all these problems. For how much I bragged about this laptop to everyone I know, it had better live up to expectations.
-
-
-
^ I don't think a DOA computer is a "minor" problem...
-
Surprised how HP can ship such an "high performance" laptop without checking everything is working first... i mean i really don't mind extending my shipping day one or two days.
-
not impressed by hp at all... still waiting for my exchange as they one i was sent had a gouge in the screen
-

i was just wondering if anyone has gotten the FFXIV benchmark to run with a similar setup. i wanna make sure the laptop will be able to run the game at least on low -
btw, do you guys recommend a clean install of windows 7 or just uninstalling the bloat? The only impediment for me is the fingerprint reader driver... I can't seem to find it on HP support site. -
-
Hi all - quick response here! I just the my new dv6tse and am in the process of removing all of the bloatware. My question: Can I happily/safely remove ALL of the HP Mediasmart stuff? I'm sure it's pretty bloaty, but what I'm wondering is whether that will leave me without a means of playing DVDs and with no drivers to use my webcam.
Worth leaving it on there (I've ditched everything else) or should I can it? Thanks!
P.S. I've looked at the Bloatware guide but can't tell how vital Mediasmart is. -
I hope mine works as is, I have an online math class I need to take soon, lol. I'm not worried about the heat at all, those numbers are fine with me. I mean, I was looking at buying the MSI GX640 for the longest time, lol. But then again, that had a 3 year warranty attached. Has anyone looked into or gotten the Costco warranty for HP laptops? It seems pretty good.
-
HP just sent me a $50 credit for the Anchorage Customs Fiasco (does anything good come out of that state?...Other than king crab?
)
I'm going to do a clean reinstall with Windows 7 Ultimate. I don't mind reinstalling all the drivers. I've already had to do that once with an Acer Extensa laptop, so it can't be much more painful.
