"CLEARANCE DELAY - ANCHORAGE, AK" .................. AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HP, what the hell is wrong with you?! I'm really getting fed up. My first HP comes DOA (with a clearance delay mind you) and now my replacement (which is supposed to be 2 day shipping, has turned into 5+ days) is in a new clearance delay stuck in Alaska. I am about 5 seconds away from calling HP and telling them don't even bother delivering it to my house when it gets here next year.

Customer satisfaction is rapidly approaching a big fat 0 out of 10

This may be a stupid question:
How do I use the FN key to type symbols or umlauts on this keyboard. I got used to my DV6-2150US with a separate number keypad.. I'm trying to use FN + 154 and some other symbols but it's a no go? I use a lot of these symbols for work....

    Thanks!

OK-- how many DVDs are required? I am using standard DVD-R's.

Man that sucks, I really feel for you, but do you have an alternative laptop in mind if you decide to tell HP to go suck it? Its actually for this same reason I am considering buying mine from ebay or a prebuilt model such as the HP DV6 3050 US from Amazon. I wont be the best price, but maybe I will be worth not having to deal with hp :) Any thoughts?

I never bother with that-- I don't know where you live or what keyboard layout you're used to, but I always use the "US International" keyboard layout. That lets me type all sorts of international characters: for an acute accent, one hits apostrophe then the vowel, thus: á é í ó ú, grave accent, similar except hit the grave accent key first, à è ì ò ù, the ç is apostrohe - c, the umlaut is double quote then vowel, thus ä ö ü, the ß (which the Germans don't even officially use anymore) is right-alt then s, etc.

You pick US International keyboard layout by adding it under Control Panel: Clock, Language and Region: Change keyboards or other input methods.

One thing that I am discovering that is annoying is that Windows 7 is always resetting the keyboard layout to US instead of leaving it on US International. Never had that problem with XP. Maybe I need to remove the "vanilla" US keyboard layout entirely.

The only downside to this keyboard layout is that when typing an apostrophe it won't show up on screen till you hit the space bar, and if you hit an "accentable" vowel before you do, it will show up with an acute accent. Same goes for the double quote.

I actually got a US International keyboard. Perhaps it's a force of habit. It's easier for me to type not just umlauts but symbols especially when I'm composing, or "writing"

Just got mine yesterday and it seems solid. I hope it'll last me my last 1.5 years of college and not fall apart. Also, does anyone know how to disable the logo light on the top outside cover? I tend to leave it on 24/7 and having the light on when I'm trying to sleep is distracting. (Yes I realize I could just put a book on top of it, but no thanks)

I'm thinking about buying a new Dv6 with 6 gb ram (not that I really need it) for the same price as my old one (which had 4 gb), and since I will buy it online I will be able to return it within 14 days so hopefully I will not run in to any issues.
Just thinking about trying the Acer 5820TG keyboard after I have used the keyboard on the Dv6.........

I wish the screen was a little better and that it ran a little cooler, but I can deal with it.

I've been doing some random stuff with my laptop and after pulling it apart again for the millionth time, I finally looked at the left palm rest area. Worst piece of heat reflective tape ever, if it is that. Gonna try to get some better stuff and stick it under there to insulate.

After some other crazy stuff I did, I played star craft 2 for about 5 hours straight and my cpu leveled out at 90*c and gpu maxed out at 62*c.

    Hi Guys:

How have you guys found the reflect property of your DV6TSE notebook. I just received mine, which I equiped with the touch screen and the reflection is ungodly. It's like looking into my bathroom mirror. I can friggin use this screen to shave.

Anyone install any anti glare screen with positive results?

    C.

P.S. Anyone know if touchscreen has greater reflection than non touch screen.

    Bad news:

I've been having multiple hardware issues with this laptop.

    1. Keyboard squeaks
    2. Touchpad squeaks
    3. Improper manufacturing caused the top cover to bulge, and along with it the keyboard
    4. 95*C max temperature, constant 90 while playing MW2, 60-65 while idling.

It just wasn't what I expected from this laptop. I'm calling HP tomorrow to have it returned.

A question though, is it 21 days from the day you received it or from the day you ordered it?

    Sup guys,

I just got the laptop recently and just wondering if its just me or HP with the keyboard. I have to press Fn + F1 to get F1 otherwise its just 'help" that pops up, same from F1~F12...kinda annoying since i can't play games properly =/ because of the shortcut keys.

Is there any way to change it?

    Thanks

You don't need a book, you just need duct tape.

You can change it in the BIOS.

Best configured laptop with WORST screen resolution 1366x768 in a 15.6" screen.

Hardly a person can read 2-3 NBR one liner posts and have to use the scrollbar frequently :(

Again, see the huge price of dv6 in India !!!
Why the hell they are so costly in India EXCLUDING TAX !!!

If I return my laptop for exchange, do I have to wait another 2 weeks for it to be re-built?

My touchpad is a not secured properly on the left side, and its too annoying to keep especially on a 1300$ brand new laptop..

I want to like it but I'm afraid that HP wants me to wait the maximum amount of time before it gets here. But honestly, it's got the best features at the best price. The company just plain sucks.

It is very inconvenient. Also they aren't able to upgrade the exchange to "priority processing" because the factory has "moved to build other configurations". I've about had it with HP and their BS. I've looked up 'HP clearance delay' on Google and this nonsense has gone on for years and it's still happening...

I ordered this laptop for college on June 29th. It's almost been one month and I don't have a working computer.

I'm in the same boat, although I won't be doing an exchange. I'm going to jump ship to Sony, seeing so many problems that people are having.

I am glad that my school starts late (Sept. 29th) so I still have two months to get a computer!

In my opinion, this laptop had a lot of potential, but HP's manufacturing process ruined it. :(

It does kinda help to post reviews on the hp shopping website.
I find it kind of stupid they try to hide the reviews with the older model.

This laptop isn't too bad for the price, but the customer support is abysmally poor for our model. I spoke with almost 20 representatives and they couldn't agree on the build specification even the basic model.
To me, the only con is the wireless card, which I'm kinda furious of HP shopping for incorrect description which is still there now.

I've read sony's are downclocked and over heat too. Experiences can vary I guess.

After playing around with my computer some more, here's some temps.

    Idle:

1 minute after 3 hours of star craft 2 campaign play.

I stuck some new heat reflective tape and covered a greater area around the left palm rest. Yesterday it was pretty hot, borderline uncomfortable. Today, sort of warm. Makes me scratch my head.

I have absolutely no problems with my laptop, other than a sub-par battery life on the 6 cell, but that's what a 9 cell is for! I love it, but the touchpad does take some breaking in and getting use to. I play Lord of the Rings online on ultra high detail and it runs fluidly.

I just finished calling to exchange mine. The people you talk to get really aggravating. The only good thing that happened was I got the now offered free upgrade to blu-ray and then they "paid" the difference for my upgrade to 8gb ram which was previously less due to the free 6gb offer.

If this thing isn't here fast, they'll be receiving more phone calls from me.
