I have just ordered DV6t SE with 540m and 5650 from HP USA.I am from India and since this product is not released here,I am guessing that I wont get service and support here.
-
how did you manaqge to order it? i really want a dv6 but they arent available in UK and HP wont let you custom order on US site
-
I have the exact same problem with all versions of GTA 4, this really bugs me as this is the game I would like to play the most, but it is unplayable currently because the stutters ruin the game experiance.
This guy here seems to think that his does not have problems and he is running the same motherboard and 5650 grahpics:

Can someone tell me if the dv6tse utilizes USB 3.0 technology?
-
It does have 4x USB2 ports with one of which is shared as an esata combo port.
Motherboard = Intel HM55 chipset -

You might have to switch the bios to install 10.6". Take a look at the 3820TG thread in the Acer section. The owners thread, started by Hendrickson, will walk you through it.

@Bronsky - We don't have a dedicated/switchable graphics toggle option in our BIOS. At least I don't with my dv6z, the dv6t could be different. -
How do you think (or know) the ati 5650 will fair on 1920x1080? I'm not interested in AA or AF, but medium'ish settings would be nice for any current games or specifically any of the source titles from Valve.
Thanks! -
abaddon4180 Notebook Virtuoso
I can max out pretty much anything I have tried on native res but I don't have an external monitor anymore so I am not sure about higher res. My old dv6z with Turion X2 @ 2.3GHz and ATI4650 was able to play ME2, WoW, Left 4 Dead, and CoD4 on medium settings at least at 1080p when I had my monitor, though.

Ok so I cant find this info and I only got to mess around on the HP "clickpad" a little and could not figure a way to make it scroll. Does it allow you to use the touchpad to scroll at all? like using two fingers?

Can I get any review on Core i5 based dv6t.I have been searching for it for the past 1 week, please someone help me.The worst part is that I have ordered this laptop and have no idea how it performs.
Thanxx -
A lot of people are asking about the battery. I did not have time to do the batteryeater tests, but I'm writing this with the 9-cell in, brightness two notches above minimum, integrated graphics, wifi on bluetooth off, doing nothing but surfing the net and editing a word document. 2:13 hours in I'm at 66%. I don't know if it's linear, but I would guess I'd have somewhere between 5-6 hours even if it ain't linear, which is fine by me.
I recommend the 9-cell , it is not that big and heavy (the entire thing's pretty slick), and it raises the laptop a little which is actually very comfortable to type, at least for me. I also have 6-cell, but I'm using the 9-cell even at home for the elevation. -
Tsphere you have the i5 model?
-
yes. i5-540M. 3 hours 1 minute - 51%, btw.
-
that very interesting! thanks! If you reach 5 hours I'm buying the Hp
Keep us posted! -
abaddon4180 Notebook Virtuoso
The AMD and Intel versions seem to be getting the same battery life, around 4 hours with the 6 cell and 6 hours with the 9 cell.
-
4 hours, 35% left.
-
btw, weirdest live blogging ever!
-
How would you compare the select edition's sound quality with the one of the previous dv6 line (altec lansing speakers and SRS premium sound)? I am mainly interested in music and less in movies.
-
the sound quality is ok, and nothing more. better than my previous laptop which was hp business laptop, but nothing great. weak bass, thin sound, in the best laptop tradition.
-
5:11 hours, 13% battery, it's telling me to put on the ac. I can keep it until it dies, it surely has about 30 minutes at least, but I don't know if I care.

-
MagusDraco Biiiiiiirrrrdmaaaaaaan
yeah it keeps the hdmi.
edit: I mean it lists it in the specs.
I think the quad core version may somehow gain a second one...or just lists it for the hell of it. I'm not sure.
but the specs at the bottom list 4 usb (1 combined with eSATA) and a hdmi port -

somewhat regret upgrading to i7-740 instead of going for touchscreen

So, I read about this laptop and while everything sounds great about it, why cheap out on the most important thing.... screen!
-
So after contemplating the Envy 14 I decided that I wanted a touch screen bad enough to go with the dv6tse. It will still cost less (considering the SSD upgrade that I am now set on) and I just need my Financial aid to come through so I can hit the buy button. If anyone has valid arguements to save me the $150 touchscreen, please present them, cause I really wasnt thinking I'd spend close to $1500 with warranty... In that case I want an Elitebook

Even though I want a small comp for college, a la Dm4t... this deal just keeps getting better! I wonder if there even are faster computers for the price? I wonder if the extra 1lb is worth it.. if I don't need it the SSD could be sold for a decent profit (sort of) too -
I just pulled the trigger, saved $450.

I got my new DV6T SE on Friday. So far, really loving it. The touchscreen is quite handy and even fun sometimes. I don't know of a million fun apps but I think it is worthwhile. The SSD drive really makes things snappy and quick. Like the keyboard. Love the backlighting. HP has a real winner.

I love these deals people are getting on this machine. I got mine about a month ago, for $850.
Was able to get $350 in savings at the time, and I love it!
Only thing I would have done is get the SSD, but I suppose that's easy enough to replace. My wife got me 1.5tb external drive soon after I got this machine, and so there isn't a reason to have 500gb drive on this machine anymore. -
I'm trying really hard not to pull the trigger on one of these. My alternatives were E14's and TimelineX 3820tg's, but this is too good of a value. Has anyone returned a laptop within the 21 day period? Is it a hassle? Does it matter if it's opened? I will cry if I get one of these and then the Acer comes out.
Also, if anyone can do me a favor. I've read that there are some spots of chassis flex on the laptop, but I'm curious as to what kind of force it takes and where it is. Thanks. Hope I still have hair on my head by the time I order one of those three laptops.
And one more question, I've been trying to find gaming performance numbers on the Core I + 5650 setup in a dv6se, but no luck or i get videos without fraps numbers. The specs are comparable to the other laptops. Can I expect to be able to OC and have it perform similarly to the other laptops with Core I + 5650 setups? -
I returned an Envy 15.. no problem at all. You can use it for 21 days, and return it no questions asked. All I said was that it didn't work, and I wanted a refund. Bam, she got me my RMA number and I got my UPS tracking info. Packaged it back up (quite easy with Envy), printed out the new UPS stuff, taped it on, took it to a drop off point... easy as pie. Money back within a week or two. I even forgot to return the 2gb SD card that came with it.. so nice little freebie there
I must say, it'd be silly not to get this laptop right now. You can essentially get an SSD for free.. sooo.. why not? If you don't like it, return it! -
how do I get the computer to ignore when I close the lid? I have already changed the power settings but I seems to loose my graphics ability like on hulu when I close the lid. I have switchable graphics with an i5
-
Are people happy with the touch screen? It looks like it actually has quite a few practical uses in Windows, but basically it just saves a few seconds here and there vs using the mouse and is just kind of "neat". It has the edge to edge screen, I'm wondering if it's better, worse, or the same as the non-touch screen in terms of clarity? Thanks!
-
I'm trying to figure out why the area directly to the left of the touchpad gets so hot. I'm about 90% sure it's where the hard drive is and it gets so hot for me that I can't even touch it comfortably.
Seriously considering returning this because of how hot it gets.
Edit: Downloaded some system monitoring things, and the HDD is at 47 degrees Celcius.. is that normal? I swear there's a furnace underneath my left hand. -
This is make or break for me. How long does the battery last approximately with regular web surfing and wi-fi on?
