On topic: So it took 5 business days from the time I ordered until the time the package reached the US, in case anyone is wondering.

 

I just hope mine gets to the US as quickly as yours did. I ordered on Monday, so hopefully it will arrive in the US early next week.

So anyway, does anyone know what the "Initial shipment release" status means?

 

I'm pretty sure it means that it's been released from customs and FedEx has it again. This would mean that it will leave Anchorage on the next flight.

Ok new question: Does fedex ship on weekends? More specifically, would the next flight bring the laptop to my general area over the weekend? Or will I have to wait until Monday for it to fly here, then even longer for it to actually reach my door?

Another question lol: For those of you who have recieved your laptops and got them with bluetooth, could you tell me what kind of bluetooth it is? Like is it 2.1 with Enhanced Data Rate (EDR)?

Huh, maybe our packages finally got separated. I wouldn't be surprised if yours caught up to mine again, though.

I'm thinking the clearance delay may just be because it was after the cutoff time or whatever, so it might happen to us. It doesn't look like it lasted a long time at least, so that's good.

 

Ok thanks. Can anyone comment on the difference in sound quality when using bluetooth headphones with a 2.0+EDR device vs. a 2.1+EDR device? Or is there no difference?

EDIT: I googled it, and the wikipedia article seems to show that there will be no difference in sound quality.

Yeah, so if there are no more flights until Monday, then it sounds like the arrival date of Tuesday will be correct. So that's seven business days total. Not too bad.

City Pig, do you know when the last flight was? I just checked and now it says shipment exception, "Held, cleared regulatory agency(s) after aircraft/truck departed" at 5:25 PM. That's whatever timezone Alaska is in, by the way. So hopefully mine is on the next flight out of there.

And sorry that it's arriving at a bad time for you. If we had only ordered a little earlier...

 

That depends on where you live. I know the last flight near my area left around 4:00 PM in Alaska's time zone.

Yea I think you're right about 4:00 PM. My laptop left Alaska at 4:13, and I live in New York aswell.

Ah, them that confirms that the messages about clearance simply aren't showing for me for some reason. I knew that already, but I was really hoping to be wrong.

 

Does anyone know how long it normally takes for the laptop to get from Alaska to the east coast?

I got impatient, and when I get impatient, I research! And I found a site which tracks flights. One flight left at 4:16 PM Alaska time for Newark, so I think it's safe to assume that's yours.

@Everybody Ok so heres the deal. According to City Pig, the flight with my laptop is supposed to arrive in Newark, NJ at around 2:30 AM (2:27 to be exact). I'll overestimate the time it will take for the laptop to get onto a truck that will take it up here at 1.5 hours. So it gets on the truck at 4:00AM. It takes me about 5 hours to get to Long Island from Central New York, so it will probably take about 4.5 hrs for the truck to get to the Fedex in Syracuse. So it gets to the place at 9:30 ish. Now my mouse went from the Fedex in Syracuse to a different one before getting on a truck and being delivered, so my laptop may have to do the same thing before I can pick it up. What I'm wondering is wether or not i can go to the fedex place and pick it up as soon as it gets there, or if I will have to wait until they make one delivery attempt. I remember other people saying they had to wait for the first attempt, but can I call Fedex and tell them to set it aside?
(Sorry for the poor structure. Its 12:37 for me and I just had a very eventful day so I'm pretty tired )

 

can someone post the software (useful and unuseful please) that comes preinstalled in the laptop? or if alredy exist post the link. I can't find anything about it in the forum.

I don't want to get your hopes up. Read on only if you can handle possible dissapointment later on.

I think there's a chance that some o0f the packages in the last shipment were rushed through customs to meet the next flight. If I'm right, it's possible that we'll both have our laptops on Monday. Again, don't get your hopes up. We won't know until tomorrow morning.The issue here is that there's also a slight chance that we're going to suffer a clearance delay, so there's no guarantee that we'll be satisfied.

 

Look here for a list of software to uninstall when you get your laptop. It may not be exactly what you're looking for, but it's the best I can come up with

Hey guys, I'm still loving this laptop, and am going off to college with it. What sort of cases fit for this computer? Just a regular 15.6" case, or do you guys have any you recommend?

 

Does customs operate on weekends? I'd at least like to know if there's a slight chance of it being cleared before Monday so it could meet the Tuesday delivery date. I'm not counting on it, though.

Production time can take anywhere from a day to a week. Either way, you should expect yours to ship next week.
