Does anyone have any ideas as to why my laptop is still sitting in Newark, NJ? Does fedex not do trucks on weekends?

Well, my laptop was just released from customs (20.5 hours later...). It's on-track for a Tuesday delivery. :) Not great, but it's better than it coming any later. I really wish that FedEx had flights within the US today though...

Hey does anyone know the dimensions of the shipped product? I am going to have it shipped once it lands and want to know how much it would cost.

So I guess clearance and international shipment release are different things, and it looks like ours did them in a different order. I guess yours missed the original clearance time.

No, I'm certain that international shipment release refers to customs. Besides that, ours were released at the same time, meaning they're still together. "Available for clearance" means that it's been handed off to customs but hasn't yet cleared, while "Int'l shipment release" means that it has been released from customs. I've never seen the order reverse like that (EDIT: pwnd by above post). It's some sort of tracking error.

Question: Which state do you live in? (assuming the laptop is going directly to where you are) Don't ask why, since what I'm getting at is extremely unlikely.

I'm hesitant to say, since it would be jumping the gun. But, fine. Two FedEx flights from Anchorage are scheduled for tonight. One is for Memphis and the other for Newark. I'm not getting my hopes up, though, since several flights have left for Memphis today. I'm crossing my fingers though.

I suspected something like that. Yours shipped on the 26th and has an estimated delivery date of August 31st, correct? If so, we're part of the same shipment and my suspicion is looking very likely. We won't know for sure for 45 minutes to an hour, however. It's nothing big. I just like assurance that they'll get here on time, which is still possible even if I'm wrong.

Ya, I did a clean install of Win7 on it. The area to the left of the touchpad still gets too hot for what I like. I've considered selling the laptop and going back to a desktop, but I like the portability if I ever need it, and my problems will be solved if I go to a monitor mouse/keyboard setup and just have the laptop off to the side.

Ok so since I'm so impatient, I'm going to try to find a way to track fedex's trucks. I'll start looking as soon as I post this, but it would be great if someone already knew how to do this and would tell me.
EDIT: Ugh. Nevermind. From what I've seen, I don't think fedex allows for their trucks to be tracked via gps. Oh well. I'll just have to wait for the next update.

So I want to rebuild this laptop to remove all the bloatware and to make it run as fast as possible. I have the recovery DVDs that came with my system from HP. I copied the SwSetup folder to another hard drive. I believe it has all the drivers that come with this system.

Is there anything else I need to do before I rebuild windows and reformat the hard drive? Do I need to keep the HP_Tools partition? What about the recovery partition? I'm on an SSD so I'd like to save space if possible.

Also, has anyone who has rebuilt the drive had problems getting the touchpad or fingerprint reader to work?

By "rebuild" I assume you mean clean install. (They're very different things. :p)

I think you need to keep the HP_Tools partition, but since you have the disks you don't need the recovery partition. You can find more info on clean installing here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/hp-...-hp-laptop-out-box-guide-2-0-windows-7-a.html

Instead of complaining, why don't you try creating discussion? You guys are wasting time by complaining about us wasting time. Either put up, shut up, or take it to the mods. Obviously, there's nothing else we want to discuss right now. Would you rather the thread be dead?

Sure, but read back the last 10 pages of posts -- mostly shipping related BS.

I do not discount your anticipation for your new DV6 as I was in the same boat waiting for mine, but FedEx did show up at my door and now I'm enjoying it.

I will probably just cancel my subscribed thread following here and just check it now and then. (Email notifications)

One DV6t SE observation, in this thread (as I have read them all) -- The DV6t SE is well engineered and quality because of the lack of complaints.

So to those waiting for your shipment to arrive be assured that your decision to buy a DV6t SE was a good one. I really like mine!

While I do believe that we should probably stay away from posting every update to our shipment information, I do think the shipping process is a bit tedious and we naturally tend to become anxious.

Instead of narrating the journey of our laptop across the Pacific, why don't we get cazper to add a shipping section to his information guide. This section could include information regarding average delivery (including production) time, the carrier (Fedex), methods to track your package (including flights), common stops (Anchorage, Memphis, etc), and possible problems (clearance delay, etc).

Nothing personal against those who have been posting their shipping info (Personally, I find it interesting seeing how my computer will be on its way pretty soon). However, I believe all of this could be much more useful if it were to be compiled and available without having to browse several pages.

Remember... Big Brother (Mod) is watching...

Actually, that's part of why I'm so anxious and I come here to help calm my nerves. I just started college and I need this laptop ASAP in working condition. I can't afford to send it back and wait another 2-3 weeks for it. I've heard about so many cases of parts not being seated properly and some things simply not working that frankly I'm scared I'll end up with a lemon, which would totally screw me over.

@coral11 I agree with you. It would be great to see disscussions about tweaks, mods, etc., however, as you said, we are all very excited about getting our laptops, so shipping is what we'd like to talk about. Also, it's not like talking about shipping prevents talking about other things. When someone posts a tweak or mod or an question about tweaking or modding, we'll talk about that.

You do make a good point. There has not been much discussion about troubleshooting and so on because most tweaks have already been done by others. Clean installs, drivers, overheating, overclocking, sound configuration, key mapping - these and many more issues have all been addressed already.

If we look at this from another point of view, this thread would probably be dead were it not for the shipping discussions, simply because most everything else has been addressed.

We could all make up for it by posting benchmarks and FPS in games once we get them. I, for one, plan on testing both TF2 and Portal on the integrated graphics just for fun. :) Who knows? Someone might be able to make use of the results.

When I removed all the HP Bloatware I lost the function of the MediaSmart key.
I was kind of disappointed in loosing this functionality, I found on this board a key re-mapper for the HP DV6t SE... now I can reprogram to anything I want and all my keys are working again.

I have an SCII trial just waiting to be used. I can't wait! This is my first computer with dedicated graphics ever. :D

... Too bad I have no money for games. xD

So, other than gaming, what are you using it for? I'm using it for my college work, which involves programing, simulating circuits and stuff, and eventually some 3D modeling. I might have to buy an external monitor later on, though.

I play Call of Duty Modern Warfare at max settings and I am very happy with the performance, my DV6t SE has the 5650 and 6 gigs, with i5 - 540.

On my desktop PC I use a G7 laser mouse and I have one on order for this laptop.

    Very happy :D

That reminds me. Can any recommend a good, cheap wireless mouse and an external number pad? I'd really appreciate it.

I'm an outside salesman and my primary use is for business and demonstrating software to clients. At night in my hotel room it is my entertainment center, movies and COD. ;)

Hi peoples. Been stalking this thread awhile, finally mustered up the courage to ask something. Here it goes -deep breath-. I recently bought a DV6T SE, and while I love this computer to death, one thing perplexes me: the HD 5650. When I'm plugged in to the wall and doing nothing (most normal people call this idle, lol) this bad boy is at 52C. While it makes a delicious hand-warmer, is this normal? Thanks!

    lets see...
Homework (unfortunatly a lot :(), some photoshop and after effects, dreamweaver, see some hd movies (i don't care about the "low" resolution, 1366x768 it's fine for me), and since this is my first laptop ever, i'll do some gaming.

could you recommend me some good games for the 512MB ATI HD 5470?
