    Ditto, even the same date.

    Edit
Forgot to add that on sunday I had a chat session with hp, I didn't mention the new date, the rep apparently didnt have access to it (or didn't see it) since, without prompting antyhing about dates, apologized for missing the 11th (my original date), and said I should receive a mail that night (sunday) with a new ship date. I had received my 19th ship date on the 12th. The right hand really doesn't have a clue what the left hand or foot is doing at HP.

I put in a cancelation request on my dv7t and got the following email:

    Hello ####,
This is the most recent update on your order cancellation request. After reviewing your order we have verified your custom built PC has already moved into the production process. However, we are making an active attempt to fulfill your cancellation request.

If successful, we will notify you by email and the refund will be issued. Typically, your bank will post your credit within 5 business days.

If unsuccessful, you will receive a ship notification email. If you choose not to keep the product, please call us on 1-866-217-6014 to arrange a return and credit.

If I read this email correctly, they can still ship my order and make me do an RMA in order to cancel if my order is already in production. I am not desperately in need of a new laptop nor an HP laptop, I could see myself getting a Dell, Sager or Asus instead. Anyhow, I thought I couldn't lose if I put in a cancelation: if the cancelation request causes them to speed things up or move me up on the queue to avoid having to honor my cancelation, so be it; if not, I get a refund and will order another one/brand at a later date, still no biggie.

My timeline so far: 3/29 (order), 4/13 (Initial Estimated Date), 4/22 (First Delay Date).

Stuff happens, but this is no way for a large corporation to respond to a problem like this. I’ve never owned anything but a Dell, but was so unhappy with their customer service I decided to look at HP’s line and was really happy with the deal I *thought* I got on a dv7t.
Their standard email has links for checking order status (which turns out is NEVER updated), and for providing feedback. The feedback link is has the wrong order number and copying and pasting your order number just gives you false information. When I pointed these things out to the “Custom PC Escalation Manager”, he replied that the order link worked fine for him. They HAVE to know that both of these links are useless.
I’d like to see a statement on their home page that clearly states what has happened, what they know, and what customers can and cannot expect. It sounds like the chipset problem is beyond their control, but the way they’ve handled it is beyond the worst of the worst customer service and management.
Should I ever get the laptop I ordered, it will be my last HP.

My suggestion is to go with the Quick Ship and force HP to give you a better discount. I got my Quick Ship for $839 (plus a free 9cell battery) and it is working perfectly.

I called the number on the delay notice. Anyone should be able to give you these discount. After looking into it a little more I think my CSR gave me the student discount plus my 15% coupon.

That's a good idea. But how does the canceling process work? Do I have to wait until they ship the laptop and then ship it back (pay for shipping)? Maybe I should call and find out.

I believe it was answered earlier that hp would pay the cost of shipping but im not 100% on that. Also someone earlier stated to get out of shipping cost if they refused to allow you to cancel, you could just refuse to sign for your package.

They send a cancalation request to production and wait for approval (usually 3 to 5 days I think), if your order ships before the cancalation goes through you have to send it back.

Here is my situation. My original order shipped and will be here on the 22nd. I called HP about it and they said to treat it like my order is fulfilled. I have 21 days to return it based on there standard policy. They will pay for shipping in full.

I received an e-mail on 4-15 that I was delayed until 4-27. I just received an e-mail saying that they regret that they are forced to delay my shipment until 4-27. Yes, the same date as the previous e-mail. I have a feeling they have so many delays, they don't know what to do and who has or has not been notified.

It's the same as the dv6qe (yes it does have the fingerprint scanner) and the radeon 6770 just view the PDF on the specs tab.

Also just canceled my original order from 3/20 and ordered the quick ship, only difference for me is the 1 tb 5400 rpm hard drive. Should be at my house by Friday.

For anyone fed up with the delays and considering this, I used the 15% off coupon hp offered after the first delay and insisted they take $75.00 off on top of that. Total after all is said and done $818.00.

    Here we go again!

I just received a fourth email delay notice. Interestingly, the expected ship date is exactly the same as was shown in the last notice received 4 days ago.

So, 30 minutes on the phone to again confirm I still wanted the notebook. The only difference this time was that the rep suggested she could convert my order to a Quick Ship model that would ship tomorrow. BUT, the one offered happened to be 2 generations old (pre-sandy bridge). What a great offer!

If you do go through with the quick ship make sure they discount it to around what you would of paid for your original order, it worked for me. Otherwise i don't see a reason not to get it unless you upgraded to a faster prosessor or a blu ray drive, type upgrade that you want.

Agreed. Call the Resolution Center and speak to a supervisor. They will apply 15% coupon plus up to $200 more discount so the price is fairly similar to what you would pay for the customized laptop.

Alright guys, I'm looking at this on the quick ship list, is this a dv7tqe? How come the color is silver not umber (not an issue)? Also, since I'm dumb at graphics, how does the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 6570 graphics (1024MB GDDR5, up to 3308MB total) match up to the current models we're looking at?

PS: I just received my delay email, I'm ready to cancel.

EDIT: I know this is the order status thread, but since we're on the topic of the quick ship, the model I referred to doesn't have the 3.0 USBs and 2 year warranty. Those two things are definitely holding me back. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO :'(

The dv7t Quick Ship model is 4xxx series and not the 6xxx series, which is newer. Also, the ATI Radeon 6570m GPU is not as good as the 6770m GPU. The other difference is the hard drive, at 5400RPM, which is slower than the 7200RPM that most of us have ordered. You are also right that the 4xxx series do not have USB 3.0. Unless you pay exactly the same price as your 6xxxx series, I would keep the original order if you are ok with waiting. Plus you may get some refund, so give HP resolution center a call and see what they can do.

I feel special for having a model today.

I did a full reformat to get rid of all the crapware. All you have to do is save the SwSetup folder on the c:/ drive. All the drivers you need will be in there if you want to reformat like me.

iamkingvn, I think our laptops are on the same boat. Mine is also estimated shipping on April 18, and just received delay notification + 15% coupon this afternoon, 04/19.
I think we're gonna get one more delay. 05/02?

Me too! 04/25. So what does it mean when they say,

"The revised estimated ship date for your order is 4/25/2011 or no later than 10 business days from the original estimated ship date. However, if we are able to complete your custom order prior to that date we will ship it out and you will receive a shipping notification e-mail."

Does that mean they must ship our laptops on 04/28?

btw, what does "vn" stand for in ur name? is it a country?
