HP dv6t, dv7t Select Edition / Quad Edition (6XXX series) order status discussion

I got the same email you quoted (dv7tqe ordered 3/23: second delay, no 10%, 4/8 to 4/20 to 4/25). When I called in and mentioned the 10%, though, I had no problem getting it. Between the upgrades I ordered, the original 30% coupon, price match during the free 8gb deal, and this 10%, my grand total is now just under $1100.

Sure, it's not down to triple digits, but going with Win7 Pro and the 2720QM tend to have that effect.

 

You got a great deal. Sometimes I feel I should of upgraded the processor. Not because I need it (I don't do anything that requires a strong processor), but I guess I would of felt a bit better about "future-proofing" it

 

They wanted me to read the email to them. Thanks to drbugs for quoting the 10% line. They tried to deduct my first delay discount from the 10%, I had to be firm and remind them that the first discount was for agreeing to wait 12 days after my initial promised ship date, and the 10% was for agreeing to wait ANOTHER 14 days.

 

Well, I have been waiting for this laptop at least for as long as you all have. It's just that HP Sweden knew they would get these in the end of April, but they began selling them as late as the 16th. Therefore short delivery date, but still a long time waitig.

Anyway I got a killer deal since I won a competition from HP. "Swedens ugliest computer". That gave me a coupon code of about $1000.

Add me to the long list of probable delays. Though I am excited nonetheless. In all, I spent just shy of $3000.00USD. The 33% off coupon was a godsend!
Purchased my case already as well - An HP Esteem 16" Messenger Bag at Staples since HP's online store was out-of-stock.

I suppose in a month, I will most likely be back here noting HP's continued supply and fulfillment issues and trying to wager my investment down even further to compensate. Hopefully not - though there is my hope that I will be posting in the Owner's Lounge instead.

 

I actually use that computer, that's probably why I won. My competition was only broken computers that wasnt in use. I have a much nicer screen than that one though, a HP 2310, so I guess I cheated a bit too. I won a 5000kr ($800) coupon, but it was actually for 6250kr ($1000).

I used the 30% off code NB6973 when I ordered my dv7tqe. I tried the 33% code NB8095 that applies the for the dv6tqe on the dv7tqe, but it's not working for me unlike it did for you. I'm going to call HP to ask for the difference (30% -> 33% off), but it would be helpful to know what to tell them; at the moment, I can only hope the 33% code works for the HP representative. How exactly did you guys manage to pull this off? What did you say to them or/and what code did you use? Much thanks.

Based on your choice of the word "attempt", I am assuming that you knew that the 33% off code only works on the dv6 but you were able to convince the HP rep. otherwise. What specifically did you tell them to make them believe you? Did you just keep trying until one of them agreed with you?

It took me multiple sessions 45 minutes of arguing. Don't take no for an answer.
Tell them that you want to claim the price difference. Calculate the price difference, and throw then number at them. Tell them that you're paying XX amount of money more than you should.

Guys just a quick question if I decide to return the laptop for any reason once I receive it I would get a full refund correct?

Just want to check with you guys, I don't trust HP customer service since they lied to me that my laptop was 'in the process' of being shipped.

Also, how tedious is the return process with HP? I've never returned a laptop before so I just need to be sure.

You get a full refund; I did this some time ago for a different system and it was fairly simple. You just have to follow the steps that they have on their website:

"Returns requests can be initiated by phone, or for many products by online chat.

Step One – Request a Return Authorization number (RMA) via a chat (details below), email, or by phone at 1-888-650-1544. An RMA is required for all returns and exchanges.

Step Two – Print the Return Label we will provide you when we issue your RMA.

Step Three – Prepare and ship your product:
Replace all items in the original packaging
Remove, cover, or mark over any original shipping labels
Write in bold letters on the outside of the package: "RMA < RMA number you were provided> "
Return the package using the provided Return Label at an authorized shipper."

This would be my first time returning a laptop. Once I receive it, I want to test and hold on to it for a week or so, mainly just to play some games with it and see how it plays. If I don't like, I will wipe the computer, and request an RMA saying the laptop is not what I expected. Is that okay?


Also, I am getting it shipped to my college address and I'll be away from home and college when it gets there. I doubt 21 days will pass before I get there and try it out for a couple days, but if it ships early to my college and it will be 21 days before I get there, can I just cancel my order before it ships with no cost?

3/21 here on a dv7, still hasn't shipped.

The good news is that I FINALLY got the full 10% coupon from HP bringing my total down from the original $1419 to $916,

In all reality though, I just want my Fing laptop more than anything

 

You may get some kind of notice today, hopefully. I know a few people here on the forums got notice with a tracking number, who ordered around the same date as you.

 

Looks like a lot of dv6t going out now. I am also waiting for dv7t (ordered 3/28)

 

dv7's seem to be behind.

I ordered on 3/18, still nothing. dv6's are shipping like mad.

 

I ordered a dv7...guess I'm one on the lucky ones

 

Now there is a "Shipment exception" delaying the arrival until 4/28!

I am just destined to have more delays!

 

They don't allow you to "cancel" it parse. "The HP Home & Home Office Store begins processing accepted orders immediately and is unable to accept order cancellations requests once you have received an order confirmation. If you are not satisfied with your product once delivered you may return it per our return policy. " I suppose you would still receive the dv and you would have to request an RMA, but I'm not sure if they would charge you if it's past 21 days; I'm sure you could convince an HP CSR to see it from your point of view. You could also coordinate with FedEx so that your shipment arrives at a more convenient time or location.

 

Seems like they forgot that they offerred DV7's. Happy to see more orders going out but .
Ordered mid march and still nadda. However as time goes by it gets cheaper and cheaper LOL.
That being said by the time I get my laptop sandy bridge will be the new pentium mmx 233.

I hear ya, I'm not as badly delayed as others, and I'm happy for those who got there machines without the extended wait, but it would be nice to get the machine soon.

On the flip side, my inner cheapskate is happy for the extra 10% off.
