If people spend 50% or more time using their laptop at a desk . I really would say get a external before upgrading the panel (If space allow)

Got the cable... next comes the screen...
-
The cable I get do not have components placed exact like the orginial one. the logo light cable doesnt reach, webcam cable is too long. But the length from screen connector to board connector is correct. My webcam cable now hover over a little piece instead of the original place

Sa has anyone here ever gotten a different(aka dual band) wifi card to work in a DV6-6135dx?
I've seen some people say there is one card that will work in this machine without modifying the bios and the whitelist. It's listed as the Realtek RTL8188CEB8 RTL8188 wifi bluetooth Coexistence card HP 602640-001 602993. However I have seen some others say that this still may not work.
I'd love to swap out the existing card but I haven't really seen any definitive posts as to anyone getting a different wifi card running on the 6135(even with a supposedly de-whitelisted bios).
Anyone?
Thanks -
Have a user running Killer-1102 and I personally running 6300 . remove whitelist bios is a must. That bios "tend" to semibrick more though.
Never heard of the realtek one. -
The one I listed above is supposedly listed in the HP manual and according to some, is supposed to work without having to run a non-whitelist bios. That's why I figured I'd try it first($10 from ebay) to see if it would work without screwing with the bios.
-
It doesn't do a/b/g/n, probably not going to be dual band.
It does do BT though -
Ya know this is HP for ya, They have this listed on parts of their website as a dual band card, but you are right. After looking at the Realtek website it is only 2.4ghz. That was a waste of $10.
I'll tell ya, this is the last time I go HP with this Whitelisting BS.
What is the INtel 6300 model you have running? -
I'm having problems getting getting any of the AMD Catalyst Drivers beyond 12.1a to work on my dv6z 6135dx. Have performed a complete uninstall of all AMD/Ati ,ccc.etc. and then run the driver sweeper. At that point I've installed versions 12.4,12.6 and 12.7 and I keep getting the same problem BSOD at bootup. The install itself appears go without any issues but upon reboot its the same every time BSOD immediately after the windows startup screen. My only resolution to get the system working again has been to go to the restore point I first created before attempting the first 12.7 update. Any ideas, suggestions? Has anyone else had this problem and been able to resolve t. Any help would be most appreciated.
-
The intel 6300 is just intel 6300, get a 6200 or 6205 since 6300 is the same with 6200 if only using 2 antenna.
I read they dropped the whitelist for the new dvx-7000 . -
They dropped whitelist?? Great! Although while my stock card is not fast...it has good strength and retention...and very low game ping.
666 pages huh... -
Removed whitelist with BIOS w/ the most mild video OC. I just wanted to replace the card, and have been running a Bigfoot Killer N 1102. All the reviews have pretty much said what a great gaming/multimedia asset this card is, but it's probably more for the software (excellent) than the hardware (superior), since other devices use similar hardware but don't offer the superior drivers and software to take advantage of it.
I have no complaints (and nothing but hefty praise), and this card will probably make it into the next notebook as a transplant. -
Hi.
I tried installing 12.6/12.7 betas. Both resulted in switchable graphics option getting broken.
Desktop > right click > Switchable graphics goes to home screen.
Dual graphics was available tho.
I tried installing on top of existing driver and also after removing drivers + using atiman uninstaller.
Currently i have 12.1a on top of factory driver.
anyone face this issue? want to try open gl with discrete... -
I got the same issue, did a clean install once for it, then find some way to fix it. Dont remember exactly.
Try close ccc using task manager, then del this folder
C:\Users\Sone\AppData\Local\ATI\ACE
then restart CCC. (just type ccc in the serachbox in W7) -
It would be nice if they dropped the whitelist for the older machines too(like our series) with one last bios update.
Anyway, I took an Atheros 5009 dual band card out of my previous netbook, installed it in my 6135, loaded up the de-whitelisted bios(had to ultimately use the 100% non OC one cause the OC one was causing occasional freezeups) and off it went. I had no issue at all, although I did have one of the mini-brick events after changing one bios setting. Had to pull the CMOS battery and I was back running again.
On the antenna leads, does it matter what color goes to what lead on these cards? I usually do Black to 1 and White to 2. Dunno if I would help myself by swapping them. -
Yup, the OC ones cause freeze problems. I believe the default is black 1, white 2, but actually I tested doesn't matter much. I tried switch them and no visible difference. I also have a 3rd antenna now( I put it on top of the DVD bay), but there was no gain checking inSSIDER. Doubt if it help at all.

Upgraded RAM to some nice 1600 corsair vengeance modules, let's see how much they do for my PS2 emulation...
-
I remembered I had an Intel 5300 dual band wifi card laying around from when I had my netbook(the netbook wouldn't even boot with the Intel in it, so it was never used).
I replaced the Atheros card with the Intel and it seems better at holding a faster speed, especially on the 5ghz band. The Atheros card had trouble maintaining the 5ghz connection in certain parts of my house. The Intel holds it fine.
I'm debating picking up the Intel 6300 tho as I see people mention they had a nice signal(thus speed) boost witht eh 6300 over the 5300. -
Thanks. it worked.
Catalyst version still shows 12.1 but the driver nos changed so i think it should be ok -
The 1600 Memory has just made fully constant 60 fps (with frame limiter) Guilty Gear Accent Core Plus, which for me is one of the best 2D fighting games of all the time.
-
I must be insane, just ordered a as is bricked (hopefully semi-bricked) board from ebay to replace my bricked (real bricked, not sure if it is the cpu/gpu/board) board.
-
you have the magic touch, always bricking
-
BRRIIIIICCKKKK!!!
Pertaining dat fellow wot switched to 1600MHz for emulating, mayhap benefit owes also to the insane overclock. Since that high speed quad can more aggressively access memory than any Llano they actually shipped. -
Indeed... I can tell you, I really noted an overall speed increase in everything, but the emulation of PS2 was by far the most benefited, Guilty Gear AC Plus is a 2D game and my computer was missing like 4 or 5 FPS, then memory upgrade, BAM, 60 constant. This tittle is even more demanding than other 3D games like NFS HP:2 or Devil May Cry 3.
My settings are 3.0 Ghz, Processor stays at 73 °C, pretty neat for PS2 emulation.
I really recommend anyone that stills in 1333 4gb+2gb to go over corsair vengeance 1600 4gb+4gb if their processor supports it, speed is nice and it's cheap to get. -
Hot damn. That's great!
-
meh seems like get a real brick, 2 brick board and 1 working 6z ~~ The brick received have the same symptoms as my old brick grr.
The cap lock start flashing after around 5 sec. Nothing seem burnt out aswell...
Don't really want to use my working 6z as testbed lol.
The thing that is hilarious is that these board can power on but not boot, while a usually dead board(other brands) doesnt power on at all... -
Guess what guys? I ran into a very interesting problem, my iGPU, with this RAM, if it's pushed enough it, literally, crashes my pc. ... the dGPU is fine, and the processor itself benefits a lot of the RAM, but the iGPU just crashes on my face everytime is demanded (like when I use firefox, or when I try to use Kombustor) this is really a big let down...
Edit: Nevermind... my very first faulty RAM module, did the kombustor test and while 1 module lasted 30 min straight with everything at max... the other barely lasted a minute and then crashed my system, tested like 10 times... I´m happy now, but then I need my warranty... funny thing is, the processor doesn't seem as picky as the iGPU... -
meh these dv6z is just really weired compared to all other llano brother out there. semibrick, crash etc is like daily usual haha. (@least never read some 1 got a semibrick k53ta)
-
I wish there were a k53ta with a 6750m... darn, that would be the hell of a laptop, damn you HP, you only had to have this combo.

CCC (called Vision Control Center) appears to be working again. I futzed around with a bunch of things, found a possible answer on the microsoft forums, and it worked. Involved checking and unchecking the attributes Hidden box from my username file in Computer > Local Disk (C
> Users. I have no idea how it worked but it appears to have worked, but feel free to let me know if I did something stupid.
I was also getting "out of memory: closing program" error boxes so I stuck in G.SKILL 16GB (2 x 8G) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Laptop Memory Model F3-1600C10D-16GSQ
from Newegg.com - G.SKILL 16GB (2 x 8G) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Laptop Memory Model F3-1600C10D-16GSQ
It works fine. No "out of memory" error boxes since then. Would have preferred a faster CL but 10-10-10 was the fastest I could find for 2 x 8gbs that were under $100. Anybody know the best way to check whether I've got 1333 or 1600 in actual operation? It's not critical to me, but it would be nice.
Have not installed the SSD yet, though. -
You can use HWinfo64 for cheeking the 800 Mhz bus that you should have, and also your processor should be an MX series, otherwise it would be stuck at 1333 with lower cas latency.
-
It's the A8-3530MX which should allow the higher speeds - I think my specs are somewhere in this thread but it is an upgraded version - I upgraded at purchase to the a8-3530mx, 640gb 7200rpm hdd, and 1080p screen.
-
hmm, something funny happening, crashing on every youtube video, literally just black screen flash then froze...
seems like new flash player or chrome flash player acting up.. -
Are you on 12.7? That happened to me too, I just installed 12.4 and it went away.
-
you might be onto something.
the new flash player is buggy. It has some 'protected mode' sandbox mode that interferes with some programs.
if you see flashplayer.exe listed in task manager, that would mean protected mode. You can turn that off by editing the config file.
I'm using flash 11.1 with 12.7 beta. no problems here. -
Cheers for the help earlier guys. After bumping up the voltages a tad in K10stat I haven't experienced any random shutdowns.
I think I might be having another problem though.. I've noticed on two occasions now that my 6135dx has beeped loudly for no apparent reason.
Once during a Saints Row the 3rd gaming session, and just moments ago as the notebook sat here idle. At first I thought my gorilla paws just mashed too many keys while gaming, but having it beep without me even using it concerns me.
Any ideas as to what this can be? -
12.7 was buggy, crashes etc.. 12.4 is good. My 2.8 overclock has been rock solid after fine tuning the voltages. I keep it like that all the time when Im plugged in, but when Im on my bed I undervolt and downclock to keep the laptop cooler.
-
You guys won't believe it: after sending it in 3 times, HP finally fixed this thing. I'm probably selling it and going desktop/Nexus 7 though just on principle of how much a headache it was.
-
what did they fix?
-
Argh! This 6135dx is starting to drive me bonkers.
Every time I think I'm finally in the clear and want to sit back and enjoy the darn thing I'm greeted with some new issue.
Today it won't play anything at all for longer than 10-15mins. Everything acts fine, then all of a sudden the screen goes black and the caps lock key flashes 3x. According to HP that's a memory failure, right? But it passes any tests I've performed. I've had the Gskill memory in there for a while now too, so I'm not sure why it's only starting to act up now.
Going to toss in the old memory and see if I can replicate the problem. -
That looks exactly like my case, test each module individually with MSI kombustor, processor seems to be very nice with not so nice memory (passed all the test with the bios) but if the iGPU uses the RAM then interesting things happen), in my case I detected the faulty memory module thanks to stressing the iGPU.
-
I think that may very well be it.
I've slapped in the stock 6GB of memory and everything seems to be working fine again. No lockups or black screens or blinking caps in two+ hours of SWTOR and SR3.
I'm new to Kombustor. Which stress test do I run to give the iGPU a workout? -
just put at max everything in full screen, dx11, that will be far more than enough, my computer "rebooted" always with one stick but not with another
-
Kombustor didn't really give my any problems. No reboots, or lockups there.
Tried both sticks in slot1 then in slot2 without issues.
I then tried playing Saints Row the 3rd again, and sure enough it has locked up twice now on one of the Gskill sticks, so I guess I'll see about getting them replaced.
During one of the SR3 sessions the notebook made that loud single *BEEP* again. I notice now that the *BEEP* is followed by a slight *CLICK* sound. I still have no idea what that is all about, and it doesn't seem to effect the system in anyway I can see. But I only have 15days left on my warranty. I'm wondering if I should have HP look at it. -
I just have installed my warranty module from Corsair, now everything seems in order so far. Knock on wood.
-
Check the S.M.A.R.T. status of the HDD, sometimes it is an indication of a problem waiting to happen. If it happens only playing SR, could be a bad sector on one of the files in that directory. Another possibility would be the AC adapter doing an overheat-reset. Do you have 90W or 120W? How hot does it get to the touch? Try to play SR with game sound off and try to pinpoint it.
-
Cheers for the suggestion. I checked the S.M.A.R.T. status of the HDD and everything there looks good.
I have a new 120W AC adapter, and it gets warm under normal use. Nothing terribly hot, so I think it's normal.
The *BEEP* then *CLICK* sound is coming from the notebook at really random moments, not just during a gaming session. It doesn't effect the performance in any way as far as I can tell, I'm just concerned it can be leading to something nasty. Official HP forums have a few other owners reporting the same exact thing, but nobody really seems to be stepping up with an answer/solution. HP customer service via chat told me to just re-seat the memory, but that hasn't fixed it.
And now for something completely different..the option to enable/disable crossfire has vanished from my CCC overnight. Weird. -
I am rocking 12.4 mobility drivers. I tried 1080p through HDMI to play battlefield 3, While using the laptop's keyboard (but with projector screen only, not the laptop screen) and the keyboard shuts off after about a minute. I have to hit the power button to make the laptop go to sleep, than log in to get back to desktop. Any idea whats going on? Maybe its the drivers ?
-
you sure it's not the "sticky keys" feature in Windows?
that thing will beep if you push certain keys.
you can check it at control panel > ease of access > keyboard junk, uncheck all options. -
That's what I thought it was when this whole BEEPing thing first started, but all the keyboard options are unchecked, and the notebook BEEPS even as it sits here without me using it. Really seems random. There are days it doesn't beep at all, or days like today where it has BEEPed three times already.
Spoke with HP customer support again today, and they of course suggest a Hard Reset followed by a system restore. Which I'm not really in the mood for, but I guess I don't really have any other thing to try.
