I was wondering, i have an HP DV6 6B75ED with a A6 3410MX cpu, is it possible to swap to the trinity architechture.
    Like an A10-4600M?
They both share the same socket.

You got one of the best llano processors out there, overclock capabilities are quite good... I simply wouldn't do that... but anyway, swapping processors is simply not possible.

Well problem is, i play mostly directx9 games.
So most of the time the integrated gpu is taking all of the load.
En quite frankly the 6520G doesn't cut it.
So i hoped i could upgrade to the A10 proc, which has a much improved integrated gpu.

I looked for ways to disable the integrated card, but the bios isn't much of help and disabling the card in devicemanager does not help.

I used to upgrade to a new architecture all the time on desktop cpu's.
    Mostly after an updated bios.
I figured that it should also work on laptop, guess i was wrong.
Atleast the cpu's share the same socket, so pinout en voltage should be the same.

Seems like HP's support assistance is prompting me to update a couple drivers, I see the BIOS update in there. Any changes to performance? Does it lock the overclocking abilities, and such? Safe to update? Thanks

Just turn off crossfire in the catalyst control panel and you can run dx9 games on the dedicated GPU only.

Thanks for that. Unfortunately it's still running pretty choppy. Only smooth areas in thin hallways when going up/down stairs. I did what you said above, plus increasing my safe oc from 2.0ghz to 2.5ghz with barely any improvement. GPU with stock clocks.

EDIT: Fixed. Looks like I missed something. I set darksouls.exe to High Performance, however upon exiting, the Switchable Graphics show data.exe, but with the Dark Souls icon. It was set to default Power Saving. I set that data.exe to High Performance and got a big boost in fps. Also just in case, bump up to 2.8ghz and gpu to 800/900. Now running mostly smooth.

sinned79 DirectX 9 games can be run on dGPU only. I thought I heard that even OpenGL switching was better now.

@sinnd79 - "Atleast the cpu's share the same socket, so pinout en voltage should be the same."

Negative - not same socket. One pin difference, I believe.

    Hey guys,

I asked a few questions about ssds a page back. Well now I have kingston hyperx 3k 120gb ssd, and its not preforming up to par.

Here is my bench mark on a dv6-6135dx: dv6 6135dx.png

Here two other benchmarks of the same ssd on intel desktops: image.png
    3k1-500x498.jpg

My read and write speeds are lower across the board, especially the 4k speeds. Is this normal for this laptop?

I'm not sure if I did anything wrong. Overall everything is more responsive than the stock hd, but I expected a bit more, especially the boot time. Was expecting sub 30 sec, boots, but it was closer to 45 secs.

Hey, I've got an Asus eee-pc notebook (1000HD, I think, not sure), celeron processor, that I am looking to sell. I bought it awhile back on a business trip when I didn't bring my laptop, and it's barely used, though the original OS installation was wiped out and restored with a clean install. Targus case, power adapter. Make an offer.

Great emergency console, by the way. Plays HD just fine.

Welp, I'm having to send my 6c48us in for repairs.

Turns out the issues I've been having over the last six months have all been related to a faulty HD6620G.

I've gone through a scary amount of tests and attempted tweaks without being able to fix it. AMD support has told me it's a good idea to ask for a 6770m or something to compensate for the stress this thing's caused me. What would be a good way to go about that during the repair process?

What's kind of faults have you noticed from the 6620G? Since that's the igpu, they'll probably swap out the apu for a new one. Unless its motherboard related?

It's been extremely inconsistent on framerates.

Near as I can tell, it's completely incapable of determining load aside from 100% or 0%, so it's trying to use 2D clocks to run anything that isn't 100% load. And, additionally, anything that's 100% load is going to hit a max of 30fps usually.

Borderlands at low settings on native res hits 40-60fps, usually at random. At maximum, it'll stick at 20-30 without fluctuating nearly as much.

Crysis at native resolution runs more consistently than Unreal Tournament 2004 at 1024x768 and Minecraft at whatever resolution it runs at..

This is what running most games looks like.

edit: Also, I don't even have a dGPU in this system or I'd be using it and ignoring the iGPU :V

Couple weeks ago computer failed to even boot up. The screen would flash every seconds and just show a cursor at the top left then power off. The caps lock key blinks twice repeatedly and I looked up what this means and it says "bios corruption" yet I can't get into bios or reload a bios.

Also heard this could be hardware related. Just wondering if anyone had any issues similar to this or what recommendations there are to fix this. Computer really never played any games but I do have one of the bios flashed right now that has the gpu overclocked and I tested it to make sure it was stable before flashing the bios at the speeds I used.

Hard drive, memory are all good. Did some reading and it could be gpu related due to the thermal paste used.

Also if I send it in for warranty, will they know that I have a bios that tampered with gpu speeds? could that possible void the warranty?

    try this

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/hp-...xxx-series-owners-lounge-341.html#post8097343

I never had to do it but many people said it worked.
I think yr problem happens if laptop crashed due to incorrect cpu overclock + custom bios. (if i remember right).

You can easily use afterburner and not need custom bios btw.

edit: read posts below it too.No need to remove cmos battery.

you helped me out big time, too bad I was lazy and didn't get around to this like 4 weeks ago when it first happened. even set up my rma.

Hey guys, I am having an audio problem with my laptop. A lot of times when i put my laptop on sleep, and turn it back on. My headphones stop working properly. The audio would play on my laptop speakers, rather then my laptop when the headphones are plugged in. The only way to get volume onto the headphones is to plug the jack in half way. The result is i get volume from speakers, and my headphones when i do that. Only fix was to restart laptop.

The second problem I have is that when i use skype, or Msn webchat, the chat problem audio will go to my headphone, but for background programs like Youtube, music, games it will all play on my speaker.

These problems are so annoying, anyone know a way to fix it?

You just have to change the mark in the "beats audio" settings in your task bar. Under "Speaker and headphone" and "communication headphone" just play with the mark settings with a right click between them. It should work again and if you use skype or an other communication program you have sometimes change this option to get your sound to work like you want it.

Failure on my harddrive (the one that it came with the laptop)

    My hard drive is:
    Hitachi HTS725050A9A364

Symptoms: Reallocation Sector Count = 6, same as Reallocation Event Count.

Lots of troubles backing up data, was quite slow... but somehow it managed.

Anybody of you have had the same problem? HDD is the same that came with the computer a bit more than a year ago.

    Hi all.

    As i mentioned somewhere in this thread i have a DV6 6b07 (Amd A6).

I was thinking to buy AMD A8-3550 processor and 16GB DDR3 1600MHZ RAM

    Anybody here tested this ? I mean is there real difference if i go from A6 3410mx 8gb @ 1333 to A8 3550 with 16GB of ram @ 1600 ?

Because the top CPU that originally came with this laptop from HP was 3530

Is the BIOS capable to work with a 3550 A8 CPu.

Also i cant oc my 6750. Any chance to help me install a modded BIOS ? I tried 1-2 BIOS files i've found here but the machine doesn't allow me to proceed.

MSI AB does not allow me to change the GPU speed either.

    Thanks in advance.

ddr3-1600 is nice - i updated my to 16gb of ddr3-1600 once the set dropped below $100. I don't really push my laptop, though, as my preferred game of choice is single player action rpg (diablo II, fate, and torchlight is probably next).

Just make sure that you have or upgrade to an mx processor (a6-3410mx, a6-3430mx, a8-3510mx, a8-3530mx, or a8-3550mx, there might be more but I can't remember offhand) as the m processors are limited to ddr3-1333.

As for upgrading the processor, I don't know if I would bother upgrading from a6 to a8 in the llano line as both are quad cores, and I definitely wouldn't bother if it's an a6-3410mx or a6-3430mx AND had a discrete gpu as well.

@Novaguy thanks also for your reply. I was thinking GSKILL CL10 or Geil CL10 DDR3 kit.

Currently my DV6 has AMD A6-3410MX installed.
I had in mind to upgrade RAM and CPU together to gain few FPS in games. I know about the MX CPU line. A8 3550 gives i think 700MHZ more.

But if i'm going to mess around and disassemble the laptop i would like to do it only once.

A8 3550mx costs around 129 USD from Chinese sellers through EBAY and A8 3550mx is at 149.

The only thing which confusing me is the compatibility between A8 CPU's.

Is the DV6 able to handle A8-3550 or it's maxed out at A8-3530 ?

Ähm... difference between processors, a6 and a8 is null considering they can be overclocked, if you see my signature you can see how I actually have an A6 3410mx, your very same processor, overclocked to 3.0 ghz. PCSX2 emulator really does use 1600 DDR3 ram plus 3.0 GHz, a good chunk of games is playable at full speed.

Of course, all of this if you have a dedicated graphics card, if not, yes, A8 is better than A6.

    Yes i have 6750m 1GB

    I have 6750m 1GB.

I suppose the emulator you are talking about is a PS2 emulator or something ?

I still have my 2 fat PS2 systems with their HDD's loaded.

Since the A8 has the same cache like A6 and the main difference is 700mhz

more will be better overall ? The OC is better on A8 ?

    According to Hardware Monitor

my A6 runs from 52-53 to 64 celsius while on desktop or playing mp3's

Knocks 82 to 86 when playing games. Is the A8 cooler ? Or not ?

    Thank you all.

A6 and A8 llanos are absolutely the same IN their CPU part, A4 are different. A6 and A8 only differentiate in their GPU part where A8 has a better GPU. Yes, there are differences in clock settings, but once you overclock all A6 and all A8 have more or less the same top frequencies, A6 3410mx actually has a higher voltage upper limit, allowing you a better overclock (3.0 Ghz is the best you are gonna get in continuous mode, boost mode actually can be upped up to 3.2), I think the A8-3550mx has the same limit upper level voltage but I'm not sure.

Wow, 52-53 for mp3 is a bit high. Did you overclock it insanely?

If not, then the toothpaste used by Hp for thermal paste is failing hard

A8 might be better binned, so there MAY be some advantage to getting an A8.

Hello friends. I am in the process of getting my DV6z together to give to my sister. I still have the 12.1 drivers I believe. What are the best latest drivers for the DV6z with Llano A8 and 6950m? I also can't recall if there is a way to switch to only IGP when on battery and dedicated when on AC? My sister won't want to fuss with switchable profiles, etc. It's been a while since I've really messed with this machine, although still have my best performance/voltage profile for K10stat/fusiontweaker. Thanks!

12.8 and 12.9b both works perfect (cough, I mean bugless as of now). Not sure how the fixed autochange, but if your sister is using it , switchable graphic is fine imo. You can make it don't prompt you to change(actually it is not too bad even if prompt. And also with 12.9 you get to see the program list.

Thanks, maybe I'll go for 12.9b.

Is there a way to switch it so it only runs on the dGPU? For whatever reason when I switch off dual graphics it says it is using the APU.

Yes, but not worth the effort unless you have a particular game/software that really really hate switchable graphic.
