Mine's on its way also, with approximately the same 3-3.5 week order->arrive timeline.
I don't know for sure, but it would appear that these delays coincide with good coupons from HP. They didn't have one last week; if they have logistics squared away perhaps a new one will come this or next week.

This is the explanation I just got on why mine is 10 days late in shipping: "Right now, there is a worldwide parts shortage being experienced by all computer manufacturers, not just HP."

Hi guys. I am new to this forum. My dv7t is supposedly arriving on the 2nd of february. I ordered it just before new years so it has taken a while to arrive. I have heard good things about this laptop so I cant wait to get it. What do you guys think of this machine? Any universal problems? Thanks.
-
From what I have read, I am expecting it to be delayed.
This is a great forum, I would read thru it all.
Most important, I would wait until you get your machine, check it out first, then check the thread for similar issues. -
Like Groz, I read the entire forum. I used a program called Snag-it to cut out all the important topics, printed them, and started a small binder. Lots of good info in here and some good people.

I ordered my DV7t on Jan 16 and the email stated build date estimate of Jan 29. I emailed Customer service yesterday and they said within a day or two it should be done. Im sure thats the standard answer.
I think I got a great deal on this lappy, paid $920 had a 3% rebate added, I didnt do Bing rebate right so lost out on another $50, Oh well. Got the TV Tuner and 6 GB of DDR3 memory but for some reason they didnt offer the Bluray player as an option. Probably would have added it if it was. HP gave me a $200 off and a $350 off coupon to stack, which was a limited coupon they email out. I hope I get the $50 coupon for the delay that they are giving, Id get the second hard drive caddy which I believe is $50 bucks.
Oh and this laptop is replacing my 3 year old Dell 1501, which has worked flawlessly for the basic stuff. But want a power house with HDMI output, video, speed etc.

Folks, I finally received my replacement system after the 5 day shipping delay. From China to my door in 2 days!
So far this system is behaving perfectly! -
Keep us informed on any kinks or problems or even how happy you are with it. -
okay, i have stumbled upon a pretty serious issue. the top layer of plastic (the one just above the little lights and holding the keyboard, mousepad, etc.) is not glued to the body properly and i can lift it with my fingernail
this in itself is not the problem. the issue is that, if i rest my wrist/forearm on the side of the laptop closest to me (the side with the lights), i'll get a mild but very noticeable electric shock from the computer. and it hurts. like a hot stove. happens all along that side if i touch it with bare skin. doesn't happen all the time, but it has happened and i'm sure it'll happen again.
is the loose cover itself causing it, or is there a further problem? also, the tip of the charger (the bit that goes into the laptop) can give me the same sensation sometimes if i touch the metal bit
the only issue i can think of that could be causing this is that i'm using the charger that came with it (from the u.s.) in ireland, but with the plug cord swapped for a u.k. wallplug
should i talk to HP about a replacement, or is there a way to fix this myself?
sorry for the overflow of layman explanations...P
-
Sounds like a grounding problem with your electrical wiring in your home.
-
happens when the laptop is plugged out too though
in fact it happens mostly when it's not charging -
I meant for the problem where you touch the tip of the charger.
-
i should probably stop touching the tip of the charger huh
okay, but is the charger problem caused by my house, or by the fact that i have a u.s. charger with a european power chord & wall socket? -
I was under the impression that in Europe they used a different voltage system and travelers from the US had to buy an adapter or something. That could be your problem but I'm just guessing. -
All notebook AC adapters are dual voltage, so I don't think that's the problem.
Does the cord you have (and are using) have a ground plug? -
yep, three-pronged just like its american counterpart
i'm really more concerned with solving the electric shocks from the unit itself, i mean, i can avoid touching the charger, i can't avoid touching the computer while using it -
hmmm... i just read that european voltage is twice that of the american one. maybe too much power is going to the brick? should i just buy a wall-adapter thingy? or an hp charger designed for the u.k.? have i already done damage to my machine??
-
-
Just how are you connecting the 3 prong plug into a european socket ? -
It works fantastic-ly,
except sound only comes out of the subwoofer. -
Well, today is the 1st.
The day my DV7t is supposed to be built/shipped.
I will keep you all informed, however, I feel it will be delayed -
The laptop freezes completely when playing games after a few hours and sometimes a few mins. This is scary.
Any idea what might be causing this? My NVIDIA driver is dated 11/09. -
did anyone get a dv7t that came with a geforce gt 320m and verified if its actually that or a typo on hp's site, because ive looked and cant find anything on this supposed card
-
-
Ok so I finally received my dv7t and I gotta say that so far it is perfect. It is super fast, the only thing that slightly dissapointed me was my windows index score od 5.9 because of data transfer time, still not bad as the other scores were high. apart from that everything looks good. going to enjoy this beast.
-
Well got the dreaded delay email saying its est shipping is tomorrow now (2Feb10) which it was supposed to be back on the 29th and I also got an email with a $50 coupon code for a future purchase. This would of been better if they applied it towards the purchase of the computer, but a great way to bait and switch for more profit..
-
Mine was supposed to be shipped today Feb 1.
It has NOT.
I haven't received an email yet, but I'm sure I will.
This bytes -
Has anyone tried calibrating the screen with Spyder to get a better picture quality ?
-
someone tell me they are running windows xp on the new i7 quad core dv7 laptop. and please link me to the drivers. i have a t9300 dv9700t and want to upgrade to the quad core and usb 3.0 when it comes out with it.
-
I don't want to upset anyone who's order is behind schedule, but I just received my shipment email... 6 days ahead of estimated Feb 8 (ordered Jan 23).
Hope youre receiving similarly good news. -
Just recieved my shipping notice today (2Feb) as they stated, shipping from Shanghia China due to arrive in Astoria Oregon by 9Feb. So I got the $50 coupon to use now for the extra couple days, maybe buy an external harddrive...

My DV7T was supposed to ship 25 Jan, didn't, I got the $50 coupon, and still no word. Web site for my order hasn't been updated so checking it does no good. Oh well...........
-
-
Got the dreaded email today.
DELAYED
Unit was supposed to ship Feb. 1
Now they are saying 2-7 day delay. Got the usual $50 dollar HP store coupon
This sucks.....
Will keep you updated -
oh jesus, i'm such an idiot. i just broke my f key. thought this was like a regular keyboard, where you can remove the keys to clean under them.. so i tried to lift it and it's just bent and hard to press. is the only solution to get a brand new one? f*ck
-
false alarm, everyone. i fixed it.
-
Well I was thinking about getting the 320 GB pocket media drive with the $50 coupon-
I wonder if this could be used for a second hard drive in the extra bay the DV7 has if I got the caddy? Can get the caddy for $30 on Fleabay. -
WOW...you are so right. Thanks -
-
So what is the recommended HD TV tuner to purchase for the DV7t,
cause HP's seems way expensive -
still waiting for mine, hp shipped it 2 days late so they gave me $50.00 coupon to use at hp home and office store. perfect cause i wanted to buy a laptop backpack that would cost $50.00 so far hp is awesome.
HAS ANYONE BOUGHT A SQUARETRADE WARRANTY INSTEAD OF THROUGH HP? HAS ANYONE USED THEIR SQUARETRADE WARRANTY TO REPAIR THEIR LAPTOP AND HOW WAS YOUR EXPERIENCE WITH THEM?
