I have not done much experimenting to see if this issue was reproducable. At night I usually go into sleep mode and the power is on.
Maybe I'll give it a shot again tonight with the a full shut down and power off.
Anyone else see this regularly? FWIW, my battery life seems absolutely normal when using it away from a power outlet.

I have a dv7t orderd also. It was supposed to ship on Jan 25th. I called them on the 26th and they told me that it wasn't delayed, but that it hadn't shipped either. Think about that for a few minutes...
They gave me this $50 coupon but then it doesnt apply with other discounts AND they offer free shipping if you buy $59.99 or more but the $50 coupon reduces that amount so you have to buy $119.99 to get free shipping. Because it doesn't mix with other discounts you might buy something priced at 20-30% off but as soon as you apply the $50 coupon that 20-30% discount is backed out.
So they said it would ship by Feb 5th but the web site hasn't updated yet and still shows Jan 25th. I just know if I call in they'll just tell me that the system doesn't give them any information so they can't help.
If it doesn't ship by Friday they'll have to do more than just give me a bogus coupon to generate more revenue for their sales. -

For everyone who's been delayed, my friend had a dv7t Quad on order that was delayed until 5th of Feb from sometime in January and he decided to cancel today. When he rang up they offered him $100 credit to continue with the order (direct to his credit card - not a coupon). (He cancelled anyway...)

Alright everyone. I am back in business. My Dv7t replacement for my HDX has finally been delivered. One peice of advice I can tell you all is if your order got delayed to call in and ask for 2-Day Air Shipping. My ship date was supposed to have been Jan 19th. When my order was pushed back to the 30th, I called in and asked if they could have a supervisor approve my order to be changed from Standard Shipping to 2-Day Shipping.
A message was left for the case manager, but they said that they couldn't guarantee that it could be changed because the order was already placed. The laptop shipped early on the 27th from China and was in Maryland for delivery on the 29th. Its worth a try, it will cut back your wait time a little.
Now, for the laptop, so far I am 100% pleased. The moonlight white is amazing. I haven't had much time to make the transition from my Toshiba as of yet, but with the snow coming this weekend, I will have plenty of time to test it out. Hopefully you all will get your machines soon and be just as pleased. -

Ok now I dont mean to put a dampener of those of you who will be receiving your laptops soon.....
But i feel the need to vent, After having received my dv7 quad moonlight white I discovered that the HDMI port didnt work.... so naturally I sent it in for repairs.... and have been told that they are replacing the graphics card....
So Far the unit has been in the repair centre for 3 weeks !!! I asked if they could just send a replacement.... no chance....
ok so more about how BAD HP service is.... the laptop on the other hand was a pleasure to use

AC, I ordered the white also. Are you really that pleased with it over the black? Give us your impression. -
Anything within 30 days you are entitled to a replacement with no questions asked. My Dv7t is a replacement for an HDX16t. Let me know whats going on and maybe I can point you in the right direction. There may be some more people that you can talk to. -
The gloss finish is even more attractive on the white. I like the look of the all white machine including the white keyboard. Time will tell how well the finish looks after moderate use.
I can say that one an older Dv5 that we have; the outside silver type finish has worn off near the trackpad and palmrest areas. Some places are heavier than others, especially the areas where jewlery/watches frequent. YMMV -
Once I found the advanced tools to adjust how things sounded, it really made a huge difference. I also had to switch the output from Spdifout to Speaker1.
Reps to you for a good find. I have not bought it yet but I probably will.
For anyone having doubts, there is a 14 day trial.

I imagine it does look great fresh out of the box but I deliberately chose black assuming the white would show every speck and smear, and sooner.
I've had a white car and I'll never do that again either.
PS...FedEx shows my package has arrived in Anchorage, Alaska. Maybe tomorrow or Saturday...?? -

Yeah so I received my laptop for Christmass, Checked the hdmi port sometime after new year and then called repair centre... Im HP UK so I think they are not as good as HP USA the pick up was delayed a week due to the snow so when the unit was eventually picked up it was just inside the 30 days policy.... However I bought it from an eseller www.laptopsdirect.co.uk woukld this matter or would I need an RMA from hp to send to Laptopsdirect....

I guess Im just going to have to wait... Also HP said they didnt exchange unless the unit has been in for repair 3 times.... I havnt read this anywhere and I think its wrong but thats what HP said....
The thing that p'eed me off is that I call HP and the contact centre is in South Africa(No Offence) but they have 2 week old info as the repair centre is in the UK....
Ah.... otherwise the laptop is great.... the screen was my only concern but have been told good things when using spyder http://www.datacolor.eu/en/ to calibrate the screen...

I plan to put screen protector to my dv7t. There are two types, glossy (same as dv7t lcd) and antiglare(matte screen). Is it a good decision if I choose antiglare than glossy screen? Which one do you think is better?

Protectors - especially once classified as "antiglare" can could up the image and reduce the brightness. Maybe the ones I have seen in my lifetime were low quality....
I have never used a screen protector on a laptop - only on smartphones.
Regarding color, I am sure the white would be easier to keep clean and maintain. This is not like a car - you don't ride through dirty snow and salt with it...
The black attracts fingerprints and dust like you would not believe. I use an LCD screener and lint free cloth pretty regularly.

Buying the laptop from HP you have 30 days (or maybe 20) to open up and play with your new equipment. If you are unhappy you can return it free of charge. If there is something wrong with it they will place a new order for you with the same specs and ship that one out to you when your package hits the shipping location.
The "3 time" exchange is usually never explained properly. In the US, the majority of items that you purchase come with a 1 year No-Lemon Warranty. HP, Toshiba, Sony, even Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon Wireless have No-Lemon warranties. They usually don't post them for people to see without some digging. If the unit breaks 3 times within a year and has another breakdown the unit will be replaced. There are different variances of the law/rule like when its a car certain things don't apply like flat tires, etc.
So even though you didn't purchase your laptop from HP you will qualify for the No-Lemon. You have to keep all of your repair order numbers to verify your times in service. 3 weeks is a long time, but if something that is backordered is needed to fix your laptop that could delay times.
One thing that I wish HP offered is the in-home laptop service that Toshiba offers. It prevents hold times at the repair center. Let me know if I can help at all. Hopefully you get your machine back soon. -

Originally supposed to be shipped the 1st. But got the dreaded delay notice.
The notice said it would be shipped on the 4th.
And today is the 5th and still no change in status.

Well, today's the day mine is 'supposed' to ship but I'm not feeling very confident. I suspect that tomorrow I'll hear that it's once again delayed. If that happens I might have to look for a different option.
It'll cost a couple hundred more but I might jump on the Sony VPCF1190X. I can get it with 8GB RAM/640 HD and unlike the HP it has a full HD 1920x1080 display (as we know the HP has a 1600x900)...$1529 from their site with a shipping date of Feb 15th and I haven't been able to find any hits about shipping delays from them! -
Right now it is 4am tomorrow in China, so, the 5th has already come and gone. -
Well Im posting this so people can get an idea of how the shipping process is going. Although little confused on the 5 Feb @ 8:27pm time. Its not 8:27pm yet in Alaska maybe in another 8 hours. The site states All shipment travel activity is in local time for the location? Final destination is Astoria Oregon..

Im thinking Monday for delivery as it has to make it to Astoria's sorting facility and then out on the truck for delivery. I am supposed to leave for Washington DC Monday morning for a business trip and was wanting to take it with me. But thanks to the Blizzard my flight/trip may be canceled -
