Thanks Groz, I'm calling now and will post a response.

Now I'm even more pissed. I ordered mine on Jan 9th and people that ordered theirs a week later are already receiving theirs in the next day or two while mine has been delayed yet again until Feb 9th.
This will be my last HP purchase. I understand delays happen but to wait until after the product is supposed to ship to tell us there is a delay is in acceptable. Obviously they knew in advance that it wasn't going to ship on time.
The only thing keeping me from cancelling and ordering something different is that it would be a week or more minimum beyond what Feb 9th before anyone else could ship.
But so everyone knows, you don't have to send a bunch of emails in or talk to anyone special to get a discount. I called into the sales number so I didn't have toi talk to any of the first line support employees and asked them to pass me onto the Escalation department for support. I asked them what they would do to make up for this additional delay. THey offered me a $50 credit. I told them I knew others were getting a $100 credit and they immediately agreed to that. If you push you might even be able to get $150.
Another negative though...after the first delay I was told I would get a free upgrade to 2-day shipping but when I talked to them this afternoon they were insistant that while they can 'try' they cannot guarantee a 2-day shipment so for those of you expecting it, don't hold your breath.
Even if it costs me a little more, my next laptop purchases will be Dell or Sony. -

OK, I called HP and asked for a manager. I explained the time line and she told me HP emailed me ref the 2nd delay. I said NO, I had not received another email ref a 2nd delay. We argued for 10 minutes and I told her *&)^#&$*&_&*$%*$. I also explained guys with later shipping dates were receiving 10% discounts. She said it was because of the coupons, I said we all had received coupons so don't hand me that. Finally she told me she would email me ref that deal. I have not received it yet. I would cancel but then I'm back in the waiting list for another 2-4 weeks. Am I p***ed or what!!!!!

Couple of comments;
1) Delays may be caused be a one component or another that you might have ordered...it is really hard to compare to another person who ordered and wonder why you are delayed more than they are.
2) If you get into an argument, you will lose. These people could not care less if you canceled your order...they make a few bucks an hour. You need to be sickly sweet....

Although agree with RhyStar that a pleasanter attitude goes farther in the long run..
-
Weird. Mine went direct Anchorage to Oakland (destination San Fran).
Then it didn't leave Oakland til late afternoon Saturday(today). Was really hoping it might show up today. -
-
It's most likely due to their air-route schedules. If they only have x-number of landings in Portland daily, then they have to consolidate Portland-bound cargo at a larger hub to fit x-number of flights. Memphis is FedEx's HQ. Year's ago I remember hearing that EVERY Fedex air package was routed thru Memphis, no matter the origin/destination. That was when they were a little smaller.

I wouldn't say it's because the people in customer service don't give a rats a$$ but rather that they get paid a basic wage whether they actually help you or not and if you're an a$$ to them then why should try to go out of their way to help you. If you're nice to them (which is more the exception then the norm) then they are more likely to help you find ways to bend the rules and get what you want. -
I didn't order anything special. I look at what the others have ordered and had shipped/received, we ordered the same thing, but I ordered earlier but am still waiting. Just don't understand.
You're right about attitude. I got on the phone with HP basically looking for a fight and the supervisor I talked to could have cared less. In fact, I think she wanted to cancel the order. I might have to drink a glass of chocolate milk and try calling again with a "sickly sweet" attitude! lol! -
Well, as Rhy suggested I called HP and played the nice guy. I got a 10% discount, dropping the price to $815 and a $50 coupon. That makes waiting a little easier. And that is an awesome price. $200 immediate discount, $300 coupon, and $90 for the 10%, add up to a great discount! $1405 reduced to $815 and a $50 coupon included. I'm OK now and it ships Tuesday, 9 Feb.

Anyone else notice you can't order the dv7t in white anymore? Or is something just wrong on my end?
-
I just looked...you can still get it in white for $29 extra.
-
-
So I got an email this morning that my dv7t shipped. Fedex doesn't actually have it yet and, as I suspected, they didn't ship it 2-day as they said they would. It's a standard 5-7 day.

As I said earlier, my last HP purchase. None are perfect but this was just pitiful. -

Woohoo! It's waiting for me at home! An evening of Jack Bauer and unboxing awaits! -
I just got mine! Ordered on Jan 10 via Costco. It shipped from China last Thursday and arrived a day earlier than forecast.
My scheme to do a TrueImage backup on first boot failed when the CD wouldn't load, so I'm doing one after the minimum amount of setup I could get away with. Then I will load Revo Uninstaller and get rid of the bloatware. If that suceeds I will probably not do a clean Win7 install just to save the driver install hassle.
Anyway, glad its here and I can retire my Dell 9300 with its failing screen. -
Well, got the email today that it has shipped.
Although tracking is unavailable, at this time.
So, by the last post, I guess I will be getting it Friday or Saturday.
I'm still pissed
This thing better be so friggin perfect -
Mine says it shipped today too!! It wasn't estimated to ship till the 12th..
-
I agree with the last person who posted this.. http://xkcd.com/281/
-
Yes! I get a 10% discount Sunday and it ships early on Monday! Looks like several of us will get them at the same time. I can't wait.
I checked the HP web site for my order status and they show it shipped and they have posted my $90 credit to my card. Sweet! -
Hey all, thought I would jump in here and say my laptop arrived today. It not only did it ship 2 days early (on the 3rd when it was supposed to be the 5th) it also arrived 1 day early than fedex estimated. I'm still getting through the cleaning of bloatware, but everything seems to be running and working just fine.
I did find out yesterday that if I had waited I could have gotten the bigger brother (dv8t) for 100$ cheaper than what I paid for this one, but stuff happens. I replaced an old zd8205us so the screen size isn't that big of an issue. I'm just crossing fingers that this one will last the same 5yrs the old one has. -

does it seem that hp was backordered on some items and has now caught up?? Im waiting for my taxes to come back to order mine but would love to know where ppl are finding these 300 dollar coupons at that would be sweet to pick up one of those deals
-
http://www.logicbuy.com/ -
-
thats not fair, I ordered mine just before the 15% coupon that logicbuy has, and my free mem upgrade was just to 3GB. I knew I should have waited to order until I saw a coupon, but didn't think it would happen so soon after my purchase.
-
LOL! Doesn't it always happen that way Monk!
-
This is my first new computer in 9 years...so...what's with NO Windows OS disk in the package? Can I do a clean install? And does anyone have a good recommendation for dummies on how to pare down the bloat?

This is my 5th HP machine for either myself or family, and in the occasion of something not going right HP always offers credits. They always say that they can't apply until after the product has been received. That may be a precaution on their side to prevent issues; but I also know that if you asked for it, it shows up. I have had a few various credits. I asked for the managers name authorized the credit and if it wasn't there after I received I called back and they did it no problem. Patience is a virtue. -
This is actually my second HP. The first I was happy wth in terms of quality, performance and didn;t have any problems with it. In fact I dumped a whole cup of coffee in it a while back, turned it off, dried it out and it still worked perfectly.
But when I'm giving someone a large amount of money for a product I expect them to live up to their comittments. Not doing so and then deceiving me about a promise to ship it 2-day is a problem for me. For that reason, it'll be my last HP purchase. -
-
Unboxed and fired mine up last night. The only thing that's a little underwhelming is the full screen video resolution. I knew that going in, but actually seeing it and knowing theres a 1080p out there in the Dv8t has me wondering if --in trying to contain cost--I've cheated myself. Other than that, it's a good machine. Even runs quieter than I'd hoped.

6 days (ship notice Feb 2 -deliv. Feb 8) Including a Sunday. -
I have created my recovering DVDs, and imaged the D: partition in addition, all in preparation to use the Disk Management tool to expand the D: partition to be the data partition. That's no problem, but when I look at the diagram this program provides of the hard drive there is a FAT data area beyond the D: area of 103MB containing "HP_Tools".
I don't mind leaving something that small, but does anyone know what that is, and is it needed?Attached Files:
