I just ordered on last night with the $200 off $1000 coupon from hp.com. It came out to $860 with a $40 tax, so totals to $900. Pretty good deal with no rebates at this time of the year.

I might buy a pair of Kingston 1GB RAM from zippy***mfly for $116 shipped, a pairt of G. Skill 1 GB RAM from newegg for $116 shipped, or a pair of Crucial 1GB RAM from mwave for $114 shipped. Then sell the RAM it comes with (I think it's Infineon) for $40 or so on ebay.

So FedEx got my laptop on 4/16 in China. The FedEx website says expected delivery is 4/19. I'm in Oregon (west coast of the United States). Does FedEx usually get laptops from China to the west coast in 3 or 4 days??

Yes. If it does not get hung up in customs in Indiana.
Mine went to Alaska, Indiana and then my place. Very fast.
They did have a customs paper work problem earlier this year and some got hung up but it has been better.

Yea they get it quickly to the west coast via Anchorage, Alaska --> California --> Oregon.

I am also in Oregon and ordered mine on the 11th of April. Still hasnt shipped because of processor availability but it should only take about 3 days to get to oregon once it ships. Unless it gets stuck in customs.

Sounds like a lot of people are getting their notebooks on the 19th... I guess it's all the people who ordered off the coupon. According to the fedex website mine will be delivered by 10:30 that day. With the dateline and all it's really like 60 hours from China to Boston... not bad for the free 5-7 day shipping.

I ordered my notebook on the 9th. FedEx says it shipped out on the 16th (yesterday) and will arrive on the 19th by 12 PM. It wasn't supposed to ship out (HP's estimated ship out date was the 18th) I was shocked to see that it would arrive that fast..or even be shipped out yet! It's amazing..I hope I really get it on Thursday!

so I ordered a dv6000t on the 6th, it shipped on the 13th, and the estimated delivery is the 19th (tomorrow), bbbuuuuttt on the tracking website it's said Clearance Delay in Indianapolis, IN since the 14th...and still says it. Now the estimated delivery date is sttiill the 19th, but from the stories i read on here it looks like Indianapolis is hell for HP laptops, so from experience can anyone tell me if there is even a remote chance of me getting the dv6000t tomorrow??? if not I guess I'll call them up and try to get 50 bucks to spend on something else on their website...which would take another 2 weeks and a clearance delay to get here.

So yeah, someone please explain what you said to get the 50 dollars from HP. Did you just complain and they gave it to you? Or did you simply ask for 50 dollars?

Did your laptop go from Alaska on the 17th to Indiana on the 18th and hit a "Clearance Delay"? If so, sounds like our notebooks are traveling together. And sitting in Indiana :(

I ordered my laptop on the 10th and expected ship date was the 18th (today). Mine shipped out on the 17th and is expected to be here on the 20th (Friday). Can't wait to get my dv2000. Does anyone know if signature is required upon delivery or do they just leave it at the door?

Maybe that's good news? Delivery date is still the 19th.

That's the most recent update on mine, and it still says delivery date is the 19th. At this point I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have a cause for a free coupon from HP - they're expected SHIP date was 04/19. Unless I don't get my laptop within 5 to 7 business days of the 19th, then HP delivered as promised.

So I called HP and asked them what was happening with my "Clearance Delay"'ed laptop, and the first thing the person asks is "Does it say it's in Indianapolis". As soon as I said yes, he knew right away that the problem was due to missing paperwork and said that there was no way that he knew when the laptop should get through. He also said that this happened around Christmas time and it took them an entire week to process it! I don't think I'll be seeing that fine HP imprint finish in my hands for awhile..

@Needmore4less - If you order today ... depends on parts you are ordering but if there is no delays in product availability, my guess would be ...
7 days from today it would ship and then 3-5 days to get to you (depending on your actual location - and NO clearance delays).

@ All of you asking what to say to get the $50 :
    One word: INCONVENIANCE.

Say it is a MAJOR inconveniance because you have something that you need the notebook for (work, school, something important, etc.) explain to them how much this affects your productability. This has worked everytime with me ... oh, and make sure you are talking to a supervisor (someone who has the ability to give you something).

Mine new laptop just shipped today (it WAS estimated to ship 4/25 -- so GREAT time). I hope no clearance delays ...receive by Monday??

    Good luck everyone...!!!

And so far I love it, only vista is a little frustrating specially the media center, if anyone knows a link to guide pls give it to me. Also the sound is not as good as my old HP but maybe I just need to adjust some settings

Needless to say I'm not expecting it tomorrow. Anyone else have a laptop on this shipment ? How long does it typically take to get through Indianf***ingapolis after a "clearance delay" ?

oh man ekovalsky, you don't really wanna know how long clearance delays can take. The HP customer support said that a few months ago it took a week and a half! Mine took about 5 days, so I guess you can't really tell how long it'll take or if you'll even have one.

Well, looks like mine did get stuck in customs... it was supposed to be here before 10:30 this morning, but the fedex tracking website still has it in Indianapolis... shipped from China on the 16th, got to Indianapolis at 12:00AM on the 18th and no movement since then... I suppose it's still early, but I was really hoping to get it before the weekend since no one will be home Monday or Tuesday.

How dissappointing...it hasn't been updated..still says "In transit" with the delivery date of the 19th by 12 PM. What I don't understand is that it got past the clearance delay and says "in transit". Why would it be in transit if it was in customs?

That's what I was afraid of. I guess it would be a waste of time calling HP and/or FedEx, nothing either of them can do about it at this point. Just have to wait for the feds. Hopefully if there was any missing paperwork, the deficiency will be corrected expediently. It seems this is a recurring problem with HP and to a lesser degree Apple, hard to believe they cannot fix this as it no doubt generates a lot of customer service headaches. These are computers, not radioactive or biologic materials... considering the daily volume of incoming computers from HP they should have the process down to a science.

Hopefully the laptops (mine and hieunknown's, no doubt others too) will be on their way to us before too long. Alas it is now about 12 hours since the "clearance delay" scan and no update

Someone had asked if signatures are required by FedEx. The answer is absolutely YES -- they will not release these without a signature in person. Someone must be home, you cannot just sign a delivery notice and have it left at the door. If no one is home then you have to have it held at the local FedEx depot and pick it up in person.

Well..it hasn't come yet. Was supposed to come by 12, but it hasn't..and I've been here. Oh well...this is really annoying. They better fix this...I was really looking forward to getting my computer. :(

Tracking hasn't been updated since yesterday at 2 in the morning. Hopefully we'll see some activity tonight maybe..

Ended up on this page after Googling "HP laptop customs".

Looks like I'm in the same boat. Ordered an HP Pavillion on 4/9. Shipped from China on 4/16 with stated delivery date of 4/19 @ 12noon. Meanwhile, the tracking page from FedEx hasn't been updated since 2:30am 4/18. In Transit - Indianapolis, IN -- Package Available For Clearance.

So I called HP moments ago. Nice guy in their customer service department tells me that my computer is NOT one of those stuck in customs. Says it will be delivered by 5pm tonight or early tomorrow morning at the latest. Not holding my breath.

I think we have enough people to start a support group here.

Same. No update since 2 in the morning yesterday. Still in Indiana it seems.

Sounds like NeedALaptop, Mark, and I all have notebooks sitting next to eachother being laughed at by customs. Worst part is there's a city bus that goes by our house every half hour - so every half hour it sounds a lot like a FedEx truck coming by. Doh!
