Hope they're right, but better to expect it to remain stuck in Indianapolis for a while and then be pleasantly surprised if it shows up today or tomorrow. I wonder if these showing "in transit" but not leaving Indianapolis are also stuck in customs and just haven't had their labels rescanned.

Mine remains in "clearance delay" status. I guess I'll call HP tomorrow if nothing changes to see if they have any idea how long I'll be waiting for it.

Does hp still ship out the vista anytime dvd with the clean version or will I have to find a torrent to get rid of the bloatware?

Keady, yours and mine must be in the same shipment. Hopefully ours won't get caught like the others.

The wait is bad enough without adding insult to injury.

Looks like a lot of laptops are piling up in Indianapolis again... It's funny, I had looked at the "Indianapolis Customs" thread before I ordered but I thought they'd have fixed the problem... At least my laptop shipped early... if I allow for the original ship date and the 5-7 day shipping it was supposed to get to me sometime between next Monday-Wednesday so I can't complain too much (though I'll try to get something out of HP if I don't have it by then). Here's my shipping info:

Here's the latest. I spoke with HP. They told me that they received confirmation that my laptop had cleared customs as of 5pm yesterday. I called FedEx. They said that they had 2 additional scans (not yet posted online). One this morning at 4:30am said that the package was in hold at the bond gate and that FedEx required additional paperwork from the shipper.

I called HP back to notify them (seems like I'm coordinating the shipping of my computer between the two companies). They confirmed that, according to their records, my order number had cleared customs. However, the department that would confirm with FedEx had left for the day. They arrive tomorrow morning at 8am Eastern.

Going to call HP tomorrow early AM and see if I can get them talking to FedEx.

You'd think they'd never done this before.

    Hey!
My laptop is also sitting with those that arrived Indianapolis last night (Wednesday) and have a "Clearance Delay."

Looks like the last Fedex flight out from Indiana is in half an hour. Maybe they passed through customs already? Wishful thinking.

I emailed HP as they appear to be closed. I will go call fedex and see what's up.

Well, at least FedEx was smart enough to update and take off the "Delivery Date: Thursday April 19th by 12:00" thing. Now there's no expected delivery date. Guess FedEx figures customs is just going to keep our laptops forever ;)

Ordered 4/11 and received yesterday 4/19.

My dv2000t has poor build quality I will see if I can get it exchanged. The keyboard is uneven the area where the F4 and F5 keys are is warped in, the whole top row of keys is like a wave going up and down. The memory/RAM cover is not flush, it bulges out. The Matsushita DVD+RW drive makes annoying clicking sounds when its reading @ 1x or lowest speed spin.

The screen is great, no dead-pixels very sharp.

Ok New information from FedEx regarding packages stuck in Indy/Customs!

FedEx tells me that HP HAS provided all necessary paperwork. However, the shipment that arrived from China was HUGE - 951 separate packages! The paperwork alone on this shipment was over 1500 pages. She said that they are going through the paperwork to insure that all forms are filled in correctly because they do not want customs to kick anything back.

She believes (but could not promise) that the parcels would be release later today, perhaps tonight. If so, they would arrive at the local stations Saturday morning. If your FedEx station is open on Saturday, they MAY permit you to pick up your parcel on Saturday from the station (they tend to make it easy for weekend pickup for customers whose packages have been held up in customs).

Otherwise it would go out for delivery on Monday.

The shipment was sent IPD (IP Direct Distribution), which means that all packages in the shipment are handled through customs together and are not delivered on weekends.

Can you check your fedex to see where your laptop was shipped from? I ordered mine on 4/10 and it's in Indianapolis now. Maybe your order is matched with a lemon one in their stock so they could ship it to you quickly.

    Mark,

That's actually good news, if it had been a case of missing paperwork like what happened earlier this year it could have taken even longer... well, I have my PhD comprehensive exam Monday morning so maybe it's a good thing that I won't have my new toy before then. Thanks a lot for finding out.

FedEx told me to call 800-455-4588 (Usually a human picks up the line after just a ring or two). Give them the tracking ID. Then ask them to connect you to the local station for information about whether they will release the package, location of the station, hours, etc.

For example. I don't know the location of our station, but it's open til 3pm Sat. I'll call for the location tomorrow, if the release occurs tonight.

Nah, I ordered mine through HP. I think the majority of these laptops were just ordered around the same time (say, the 9th or 10th?). HP offered a $200 off coupon that started working the 9th, so I'm guessing they had a larger than usual number of orders that were built and shipped at the same time.

Goscottgo, I ordered mine from the HP site and I believe my computer is sitting inside the same cargo netting as yours.

The Intl division of FedEx is a M-F department. I'm not expecting it to go anywhere until next week.

Some things that will have me scratching my head over the weekend:

    1) How come a shipment that arrived into Indy a full day after ours already made it past customs.

    2) How come every time I call HP to ask for status, they tell me "It's already cleared customs and shipping has been expedited." 'Expedited' is such a meaningless word. Also a rather bold statement to make since FedEx, not HP has the package. They've been telling me the same thing for 48 hours.

    3) Why did the original email tracking information claim a expected delivery of 4/19 @ noon? If clearing customs can be such an ordeal, why not wait to provide an expected delivery time until after it passes that hurdle?

    4) When will our PCs clear customs? No one seems to know. Those who say they do know or have offered their best guesses have all been wrong so far.

When I called Fed-ex two days ago, they said "alls HP has to do is fax us the paperwork".

But I agree with your head scratching questions....especially #1.

I wonder why some fly through customs, others experience a short delay, and others experience a long delay? I guess it doesn't matter since we have no control, but it is frustrating. I can't even get $50 from HP since I ordered through Costco.

my dv9000t came today around 2pm. The wife said I was like a kid at christmas.

    nanny-nanny-boo-boo

lol, seriously... I understand that they may have gotten a whole bunch at once because of the $200 off thing. But... how did mine get through before ya'lls. Ordered mine on the 11th.

Fedex... put some more people on it. This seems like when you go to the store, there's 50 people in line, and only 2 registers open...

Well the worst part is I have another laptop sitting here (Everex XT5000T) that I bought at Office Max just in case there is something about the HP I can't stand. Unfortunately the local idiot of a sales person at the local Office Max was being a huge (insert bad words here) about the OM return policy saying if it's opened, no return! Obviously if I opened and used it and put up enough of a fight, they'd let me return it. I'm trying to avoid that though, so it's sitting there, boxed, mocking me, while I wait for my HP!

Just checked this morning. Mine was realeased too. Now will they fly them to our local offices today? That way there's a very tiny chance some of us could at least go pick them up. I suppose we're pretty certain to get them Monday either way... That was my origical delevery date (estimated ship date + 5days) so why am I dissapointed?

Because HP\FedEx over promised and under delivered in regards to the original expected ship date (April 19th by 12:00pm).

Well mine finally made it out of Indianapolis early this morning, alas it went to Memphis instead of Phoenix. Probably will be delivered on Monday, alas there probably won't be anyone home to sign for it. More than likely I won't get it until Tuesday.

Mine got released and it says that it departed the FedEx location in Indiana today. So it should be here by Monday, right?

mine also departed Indianapolis earlier tonight... that should (and better) mean it'll get to my house Monday... hopefully before noon so my fiancee can sign for it. I feel like a kid again.
