How long Does it take HP to ship custom notebooks?

It went from INDY to Chicago, Then Chicago to my hometown between 1am and 7am this morning...

THEENNNNN OUT FOR DELIVERY THIS MORNING!!!!

....but nobody was home.

I'll get it tomorrow morning.

 

When did your shipping info show up on Fedex?

So, yours shipped 12/4, and you got it 12/5 morning? Wow! What state are you in? I would think those of us who's notebooks shipped today, should arrive before the weekend going by that shipping schedule

 

I got the e-mail from HP on Dec 3. It showed up on FEDEX laaaattee on Dec 3, but did not leave China until Dec 4.

 

It's HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To bad I'm an hour and a half away, and still have one more class yet today.

FedEx came back to reattempt delivery.

I havn't received an email from HP yet about shipping, but order status shows that it has shipped, but Fedex site doesn't have info yet. I can't wait to see some delivery details on Fedex tracking...

According to my family that received the shipment - the FedEx delivery guy was quite surprised that it was in China yesterday too...

Maybe they ramped up shipping for the holidays, but havent received the rush yet?

 

Nice! Came home to find that it had shipped afterall. No FedEx tracking yet, but I'll be happy if its here monday or tuesday.

actually, both! when i check the tracking number link they gave me fedex says it hasn't received any information or whatever, but i'm hoping the info is just lost in translation for the moment. i'm actually not sure if it would take longer to get to you, but if it did i'm sure it would only be a day. and that's awesome that it's shipping out so quickly. theres a chance that you'll get it on the proposed ship date haha

hmm.. the only major differences with mine are the 2.4 processor and the basic screen it comes with. maybe the better screen on yours is taking a little more time? i wouldn't think so though. you'll probably be just as surprised as i was and find an e-mail tonight about it shipping out. and i don't know about them shipping things on the weekend, but i'd bet the bulk parts still do so at the very least i'd expect it monday or tuesday. still below the 5 business day mark

congrats i'm hoping the same thing with the shipping. it would make sense for fedex to do that. they KNOW that they'll get behind, just don't know when so maybe they started going full blast after black friday to minimize the backups. if i were in charge there, that's what i'd try. the more quickly they ship things the happier people are which means the more people will use them, right?

HP can provide you with a tracking number because they printed the FEDEX label, and it's sitting waiting to ship. FEDEX won't show ANY tracking on it until they actually physically have it in their hands, ie..when it's scanned at pick-up. The package doesnt actually exist to fedex until its scanned for the first time.

 

I am about 2 hours NW of Chicago in IL. I can practically pee into Wisconsin if the wind is blowing the right direction.

 

well that sucks. in that case it's been waiting all day haha. then according to their time, it will be picked up any minute now, right? since it's afternoon there or whatever. i would love so much to get it friday or possibly saturday. lemme rephrase that, i would be extatic if it showed up within a couple days and very happy if it showed up monday

yeah, there probably isn't much translation going on since they just have the scanning deals. number is the same (kinda) in any language

I finally got my HP Shipped email this morning, but Fedex still doesn't show anything. Going by TSR6 experience, I take it we'll see info late today. I'm also hoping for a delivery by Saturday. But, the last time Fedex was supposed to deliver (last Friday) they delayed delivery because of snow/sleet/ice. Also are deliveries (small town) are sent through a Fedex home delivery service, not the actual Fedex normal trucks.

We are supposed to get snow on Saturday and I'd be very unhappy if they delayed delivery again

Ack!! Mine says the same thing... bummer, not we have to wait through the weekend and Monday. Mine says by 4:30pm. Still not sure why its delayed a whole day since TRS6 got his in 3 days. Even with delay, 3 days is still by Monday.

 

Looks like we're all on the same plane after all. I have the same exact info. Except EDD is Dec 12 5:00 PM to Hawai'i. Wish they could just send it across the pacific but I think it will have to make a trip around the pacific rim instead.

 

haha yeah, that would be nice. i imagine the difference in hours is due to them having to drive them to the different shipping centers in our areas. i wonder if fedex will actually get them out any more quickly though?

reading through earlier posts in this forum a lot of people have gotten their notebooks early. i'm not quite sure when the fedex site said to expect them, but most people seems to have gotten theirs a little more quickly than the three of us actually waiting till tuesday. i'm still seeing friday as an opportunity, just have to keep my fingers crossed and hope all goes through smoothly

 

Man you guys are lucky. I ordered a custom dv9500t from Costco on 11/27/2007. Estimated ship was 12/5/2007.

So far Costco hasn't replied to any emails (3 total) so I called them and the service rep told me its "In process" but couldn't give me any other information. I asked if theres any way I could contact HP regarding it they told me no.

I "paid" for it using my credit card, however I notice they haven't charged anything yet. Is this normal? Do they charge AFTER it is shipped?

Any info is much appreciated!

 

Bummer, you have no way of tracking your order...I've never ordered through Costco, I take it theres no order number that you could contact HP with?

My credit card was charged as soon as the order went into production, but Costco could be different. Its not uncommon for vendors to charge when the item ships instead.

I think the coupons are still working if you want to cancel your order and go through hp.com. You'd probably save some money that way too. On the other hand your order is probably close to being shipped unless there's a serious screw up.

 

yeah, mine was charged as soon as they started producing it also. i dunno how the costco stuff works though. any other shipping thing i've seen i'm pretty sure has been through hp themselves.

yeah, if you jump on that coupon right now you might catch it. i'm sure it would still take longer though, and if you don't get your comp by the time costco told you, call them and raise hell till they throw something in for you.

it may actually be in the same boat as ours though, since you ordered it the same day. sounds like costco just doesn't really give a damn about tracking or anything.

sure hope yours is with ours though, man. i like being lucky but i feel bad when i get better treatment (even through no fault of my own)

i wonder if the times are with respect to the time zone the package happens to be in when it's checked in, or if they go ahead and convert it to the time our area is set to?

 

mine was shipped today. ordered on nov 30. Build date was by Dec 11. Fedex tracking info is not updated yet. I bet I wont get it until Tuesday next week.

I called Costco and raised hell. All they could say is estimated ship date is now 12/13/2007 the rep said (unbelieveable!). Yeah the guy told me there is no number I can give to HP such as order/tracking so they can tell me the status. I don't know if the rep is full of it but two different reps has told me this now so I guess its true. Told me to call back once I get it and they will give me something (doesn't sound real to me because who actually tells you this).

Anyways, yeah I hope its in the same batch. I configured it so maybe it takes longer (didn't expect it to be this long though). I can't wait to start playing with it! Hope we all get it soon

But yeah never again will I order it from Costco. Only reason I did was at the time of order I build it on the HP site and the costco and i saved 90 bucks so I figured great deal. Also costco has a 90 day return policy if I don't like the laptop which is nice.

I called Fedex to have it set to hold for pickup (so I could pick up in town) and they said HP has to release the package for pickup. Called HP they said they cannot release the package due to security. But, I know I've heard of people on the forum who have picked up in person ??

I really want to get it today since we have a huge snow/sleet storm coming tomorrow through Wed and I know they will delay the delivery because of it.

I got a sprint mogul and the unlimited internet for free (employee program woot) so I can surf the web from anywhere i get phone signal at evdo speeds woot!

 

I'm typing this now on my new HP dv9500t !!! Love it and the ULTRA screen is beautiful. So glad I chose this screen. It's amazing looking at our zx5000 notebook with brightview on brightest setting compared to this notebook.

Hopefully everyone with the same shipment got theres today also and goodluck to those who have one on the way...

Free 5-7 days shipping took 3 days to ship from China to NJ. It's good that I didn't take the 2-3 days shipping (cost $74) which the phone sales rep tried so hard to sell me...

Well, the laptop was ordered on 11/27, supposed to be built by 12/06 and I got it from local fedEx on 12/07. Consider they built it halfway around the globe, I will consider them very efficient.

 

So I can't tell from the past couple of posts in this thread...For all those people that just received them, How many days from when your laptop left Anchorage was it before delivery?

Was the FedEx estimate correct?

It took Fedex 1 day to send from Kunshan to Shanghai (which should be just about 50km apart.) Somehow it can also take them 1 day to ship from Anchorage to NJ in 1 day!!! I guess the traffic in Newark was really good on Friday!!

It was scheduled to be shipped by Dec 6 and delivered by Dec 10. It was shipped on Dec 5 and I got it Dec 7 instead. Takes ~3 days to ship from China to NJ consider the 12 hours time difference.
