Why the heck would they place a hold on 3 of the shipments if only 1 is missing paper work?? That seems ridiculous. *sigh*

vrok I just realized you had said your pc is in another shipment from those of us with the dv9000's. Any idea if the fedex agent meant they will all be held up until all 3 shipments have paperwork done or if they meant only the one missing paperwork is going to be held up? Thanks.

All the Fedex agent told me was that the paperwork might have arrived to clear mine, which was with a load of 275 other computers. If the paperwork did arrive though, she said the load could be cleared possibly before midnight today, making the products up for delivery by tommorow. I checked my shipment status >10 times today, as of this time my status still says "clearence delay" :( .

EDIT: When it comes to U.S. Customs, we must all sit and wait for inspectors to finish their turkey sandwhiches before moving on with their jobs.

Oh my gosh!! My new laptop's status says its ready for shipment too :) :) . This means I may have it as early tommorow morning (or sometime next week). I'll be sure to be tracking this baby throughout the night, but in the meantime... can anyone advise me whether my laptops spec's are strong enough to play The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion? I do not want to be disappointed since this game is going to be the first thing I'm installing once my laptop is out of the box. Once again, my spec's:

    hp dv9000z:

    - Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium
    - AMD Turion(TM) 64 X2 Dual-Core TL-60(2.0GHz/1MB)
    - 17.0" WXGA+ BrightView Widescreen (1440x900)
    - 256MB NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) Go 7600
    - HP Imprint Finish + Microphone + Webcam
    - 2GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm)
    - 100GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive
    - Super Multi 8X DVD+/-R/RW w/Double Layer Support
    - 802.11a/b/g WLAN and Bluetooth
    - No TV Tuner w/remote control
    - High Capacity 8 Cell Lithium Ion Battery
    - Microsoft(R) Works 8.0
    - System Recovery DVD w/Windows Vista Home Premium

Mine has made it to the sort facility here in NC, I think I should have it by Monday, but hopefully this weekend, if they send it out for delivery today.

Mine hasn't quite made it to the sorting facility yet. We'll see how that goes. I called up fedex and they were very nice as usual. The woman told me it'd need to arrive at the sorting facility between 11 and 1 for it to make it out today. I can't imagine it would take more 10+ hours to get to Austin from Indianapolis.

However, it sounds like even if it doesn't get delivered I may be able to pick it up later today and/or tomorrow if it gets sorted.

Mine's still listed as having departed Indianapolis since 2:30 am. Wonder if fedex personnel are playing some games on it or something. :p

Not sure why it's not in Austin yet. I know the flight from Indianapolis can't be more than a few hours so I'm just hoping that it's a delay in tracking info.

Well it finally updated and it's only in Memphis, TN after all this time?! I don't get why it's taking so long. I've had UPS ground come quicker than this.

Well, looks like Monday delivery. Guess I just gotta learn to be patient but I can't help but be frustrated with both fedex and HP. Estimated delivery was yesterday morning, so I had assumed with 1 day delay of clearing customs it would have been here this morning. Instead it's 2 days late.

Package received after FEDEX Cutoff time. This phrase is automatically inserted in the FEDEX tracking whenever it appears the shipment will be late. You will always notice that within hours the package is a thousand miles from the pickup point within hours, so how could it be late? It is a cost cutting measure that is used to deny refunds against the late delivery guarranty. It is also used selectively. When you call 800-622-1147 (press 0 immediately) you will get a human agent whose first question is “what is your FEDEX account number?” Your shipping volume over the last year determines everything. If you are big, you get a refund no sweat. If you are not, you get all kinds of BS, starting with the “fact” that you did not meet the FEDEX cutoff. If you point out the package’s location hours later, he will switch to equipment failure, or weather, or any number of exclusions, none of which appear in the Terms and Conditions that form FEDEX’s tariff. If you hold your ground, he will eventually give up and put your application through “as a courtesy” but it won’t be paid. It is surprising how many people think this phrase is real.

Mine's in Memphis too tiesto... I guess we will all just have to wait a few more days. Compared to UPS, I find fedex to be a lot faster. I remember getting packages from Virginia via fedex in three days while the same has taken UPS an average of 4-5 days. If it wasn't for the customs delay (which taught me to avoid buying products shipped from other countries), I would be in my room with a slick new lappy :) .

EDIT: John123040 - Whenever I check my tracking status it does not say "Package received after FEDEX Cutoff time" although the package is two business days late (not including weekends). My status does not even show an estimated delivery date anymore  .

My only complaint is that I can't use zone alarm. She is lighting fast. Still have to try and burn a movie and test the light scribe. I liked my screen on my gateway better though. It seemed to be a little brighter.

Although I'm writing this a couple of days late, I finally recieved my laptop on Monday Mar. 19 at 8:44 am. She is so fast, I actually underestimated her power! I have been absolutely consumed with my laptop that I find it quite hard to focus on anything else. It feels weird typing this message on my old computer (I'm too lazy to connect the ethernet to my lappy). I hope everyone has finally recieved their dream package :) .

Same here. I'm loving this laptop so far. Typing on my balcony as I speak. They included the regular capacity battery instead of the high capacity one I ordered, but Costco is taking care of that and I have a new one on the way. Even still, I manage to get around 2 hours and 20 minutes or so on power saving mode. It's plenty fast so far and loving every bit of it.

Just spoke to a very helpful FedEx agent that looked into the related "Master Tracking Number" as my laptop was in a shipment of about 150 total. She said that as of this morning they have received the paperwork and should be processing and releasing today for delivery tomorrow! Hopefully this is good news for anybody else in that same shipment group.

My dv5t which was shipped on dec 5th(suppose to arrive today 10th dec.) is having same problems. I contacted people from HP and FedEx, most of them are not too helpful.

This is what is going on: There is a clearance problem with USA Customs from the mass order HP made coming from China.

Our products are stuck in Alaska but HP.com did promise they sent all the paper work in and things should start moving in a couple of business days, if not I should call.

These clearance issues happen with Fedex a lot, soon the media will catch on and there already crappy customer rating will plummet even deeper.

I wish HP and others shipped with UPS, I never have problems with UPS. F*** FedEx.

I also ordered a dv5t that was shipped on 12/5, and was supposed to arrive today.

It's been in Clearance Delay since 12/6. I called FedEx, and they weren't really helpful in telling me about how much longer.

They blamed HP on it, said that HP didn't send the paperwork required.

I'm going to be really pissed off if my laptop arrives already opened.
I couldn't even get a hold of HP, but this will be the last product I buy from them.

They have great products (thus far), but other companies offer same quality with competent service. Forgetting to send paperwork is an asinine reason for this kind of delay, and from a few hours research, it looks like it's pretty common of an occurence.

Anybody have any ideas on how to effectively file complaints? I mean, I paid $780 for this thing, and I'd like to have it already.

I'm currently living abroad, but had someone back home in the US call Fedex. They said HP had a "glitch in their system" and that they did not send the correct documentation on a few pallets; our notebooks were on those pallets. The woman had no idea on a timeframe, but guessed a couple of days. I have a feeling we could be waiting a while...

Edit: mine is (still) stuck in Indianapolis not Alaska.

It won't let me post links, but its on forums.slickdeals.net and the rest of the link is is /showthread.php?t=1042651&page=139 , so you can piece them together via copy/paste to see the reports of released orders.

It appears at least one of these shipments has now been released.
Some folks who ordered multiple computers have had one released, and yet one is still on hold. So I'm guessing that something is delaying the 2nd shipment, which is where mine obviously lies.

I've pretty much given up hope on this getting to my doorstep by Friday, which is entirely stupid because it's going to be a massive inconvenience to me to either try and be home to sign for delivery or go pick it up from mailing center during my finals week (which is next week).

I am so unhappy with HP, this will probably be the last product I get of theirs. This is by far the worst shipping I've seen from any company. There really is no excuse for this kind of support, or lack thereof.

I called them, they said in this particular shipment, there are about 800 some odd boxes that are awaiting their customs slips.

There is a chance that these will go out tonight and be here tomorrow, but I'm not keeping my hopes up.

I'll be calling HP about this, as well.

I call FedEx about the Indianapolis customs hold-up. All they could tell me is what we already know: they are waiting for the correct documentation to be submitted from China. If it gets done today, the rep said, the stuff can be delivered tomorrow. Let's hope.
