I know this might be alot to ask for, but could anyone upload the driver pack to like rapidshare or someplace? I'd really like to get my dv9500z to XP but the downloads keep dying within the first 10 minutes.
-
i cant. there is a 100MB limit and the file is more than twice that... and the new pack is triple that
[EDIT]
ok this is for GrandAdmiral
im uploading the older, but 100% working version of the nVidia driver.
you will NEED to uninstall the current driver and reboot your laptop in order to get this working. link coming soon
[EDIT x2]
wow this is taking long @ 72KB/s
ok now it slowed to 65KB/s
connection timed out at 82%
ill try again tomorrow -
All drivers worked very well!!
Thanks for the very good tutorial!

Do any/all the new/updated drivers that are in the new Driver Pack work 100% or at least as good or better than the 1.02 Driver Pack versions?
I reread the guide again and still don't notice any changes -- are they still coming? Can you call them out with a color (and note that color as meaning "updated" at the start) for the dummies like me?
Thanks for all the hard work!
Hope all the exams went well! -
Hey Mujjuman, thanks for the guide. I found it very helpful so far. I must have missed something though, because I can't seem to get my video drivers to install properly. When I install the latest graphics drivers and reboot, the Windows XP loading screen comes up, but then the machine reboots itself. It ends up doing this in a loop till I start up XP in safe mode and uninstall the graphics drivers. I'm using a DV9500 with an AMD Turion 64X2 processor and NVIDIA graphics. Any suggestions on what I'm doing wrong?
Also, another stupid question: Is this happening because I installed the Intel Chipset Drivers on a machine that is not using an Intel processor?
Help is greatly appreciated. -
i have dv6500 and i have a problem that i am sitting in a desert and i dont have empty dvds with me but i have 8gb hard disk. Could i do something with it and the main question is that can we install xp on dv 6500. thanks
-
has anybody had any trouble with the nvidia video driver?i cant seem to get the bloody thing to see my external monitor at all. used to work (sketchily in vista i admit - and then wouldnt work when i updated driver - used to flicker all the time). was the main reason went down to xp, but now it doesnt see the external monitor. can only connect via svideo out? i installed the forceware included in the posts above (in the driver pack 1.02)
-
you can do anything you want with the 8GB hard drive, but you will need another media like a CD and have XP on. what desert are you in, Iraq? Death Valley? Sahara? KSA?
first uninstall the old driver, this is VERY important. your computer will die if you dont do it -
Im a newbie and was hoping that someone could direct me to a post that shows all the details in downloading windows XP to the Compaq Presario F730US that uses Vista home premium.
and for the people that have done this, are you happy with the increased spped of your laptop ?
Thanks... -

Can I use this thread as a guide to reformat / reinstall Windows XP MCE on a dv6000z (dv6105ca AMD is the same, correct) ?

mujjuman -- Are the drivers in the new 1.10 Driver Pack 100% functional or at least as good or better than the 1.02 Driver Pack versions? What's the difference?
Has the guide now been updated? I still didn't notice any changes.
Thanks for all the hard work! Must be nice to have exams done now... -
Hi mujjuman
My current notebook driver version is 163.71. At least it will be for the next 15 minutes before i replace it with the version you suggested. I still have the hibernation issue (dont know wether it affects standby, i always use hibernate) hopefully the new driver may fix this.
I've isolated why my computer takes so long to load up, it seems to be Norton Internet Security 2006. I disabled its startup and everything loaded in seconds. If anyone else is having a slow bootup then Norton may be the culprit. I'm going to install Zone Alarm Security Suite instead. Does anyone have any other recommendations/opinions?
Grand Admiral -
however, what you should do is go into your BIOS and disable Native SATA Support before installing XP. then after installing XP, install your chipset and your SATA drivers (both found on hp's website) and renable Native SATA Support.
the guide hasnt been updated yet.
my finals arent over yet either.
please be sure to delete the 163.71 driver, make sure it is thoroughly uninstalled. also delete the graphics card in device manager, and reboot. once you reboot, ignore any "found new hardware" dialogs, and install the driver i provided. its an older version (v. 101) but its better. i dont know about playing new games though, but NFSMW worked fine and so did Counterstrike and Doom3. hibernation works, and so does standby. and yes the hibernation and the standby problems are related. -
Ah, good. Norton is killing me, increases startup time to about 5 minutes. Im gonna nuke it off my desktop as well. New drivers are installed, resolutions are reporting correctly after multiple restarts (with the other one when i first installed it and rebooted it was ok but after a second reboot it went screwy). I'll run some game tests when i get home and tell you how it goes. Thanks again mujjuman!
Grand Admiral -
Ok, I've managed to hunt down alot of the drivers I should need myself (some of them are for the dv9000z, but other forums have said they'll work), I now have a 340mg file full of drivers. Only problem is, I haven't been able to find the SATA drivers for XP, Would those be small enough to put up on rapidshare (doesn't have to be rapidshare, just not megaupload or that other place your using) or point me to where you originally got them?
Sorry for being such a pain, I honestly don't know why megaupload has never worked for me. -
mujjjuman, just found this thread http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=198682 talking of new drivers for the 8400M GS (and a few other models) available from Dell. People might want to check it out (I havent tried the drivers so no guarantees)
EDIT: Found this address http://supportapj.dell.com/support/...eid=R173730&formatcnt=1&libid=0&fileid=236107 for the drivers. Will try them and let people know.
Grand Admiral -
Hmmm... Unfortunately those drivers wouldn't run ('Cannot find compatible hardware'). Damn.

Thanks mujjuman for your wonderful guide
. It really helped me with my dv6623cl.
I have a question regarding upgrading the drivers.
I initially used the 1.02 pack when I installed WinXP. Is there something I should pay attention to when upgrading the drivers from the 1.10 pack? How do you suggest to do the upgrade? Uninstall first? Recommended upgrade order?
Many thanks in advance!!! -
go figure what i did, i cant remember. i think i installed a driver from laptopsvideo site (155 something), then connected the external display. it worked. i then proceeded to install forceware 163 (included in the 1.02 driver pack), and would u know it, it worked.
sometimes, as much as i try to learn and stay consistent, technology baffles me with the unpredictability.
i installed xp on the D drive. im waiting for my vista recovery dvds, then im nuking the whole lot and installing xp on c drive with a lot of free space
thanks for ur guide, it was wonderful and helped a lot! -
I'm going to be putting XP on my dv9500t (and getting rid of Vista) this weekend, and I *think* the person who is helping me got the SATA drivers from the 1.02 Driver Pack. Are there more updated SATA drivers in the 1.10 Driver Pack? If so, is it necessary to use those instead of the ones in the 1.02 Driver Pack? What's the difference?
Question #2:
Are *all* the drivers you'd need included in the Driver Pack 1.10 (including those that didn't have updates from the 1.02 Driver Pack)? Or do you still need to download 1.02 to get drivers that didn't have updates?
Question #3:
It sounds like everyone's got their computers up and running with XP using the drivers from the 1.02 Driver Pack -- so why the need to update your drivers at that point to the ones in the 1.10 Driver Pack? If the driver's you first put up work fine, why the need to update or change them?
Thanks! -
-
there is no need to use 1.02 first and then 1.10, just use 1.10. if you do 1.02 first, then there is a potential problem (inproper uninstall of old drivers before instaling new drivers)
some people just like to have newer driver versions. they fix minor bugs and things... most of which are undetectable to the user.

Hi. I've been experiencing some problems after installing Win XP on my dv9500t. I connect to several networks by different means (Ethernet and WiFi). The problem is, that if I simply unplug the RJ45 cable, without 'Disabling' the connection first, I get an error, and the system reboots in 1 min (just like with the blaster virus). Same thing happens if I am connected via WiFi and I switch the device slider to 'Off'. I scanned and rescanned my system for any intrusions (viruses, spyware etc.) and all comes out clean. I also noticed that svchost.exe takes up a lot of my memory (113Mb atm). I am just wondering if anyone else had a similar problem? I don't really feel like reinstalling my system, only to resolve something that I can live with.
-
First of all thanks for keeping this forum alive, i wonder how many XP-9500 installations have been made using this information? I think more than the 50% of all the dv95xx sold but is only my thought. i don´t know what do you think.
Mujjuman/Hansmast Is there any posibility to upload the last(current 1.10) driver pack to other place? because megaupload don´t work for me (busy connections)
Thanks very much for all your help!. and Happy christmas everybody! hou hou hou. -
where do you want me to upload the driver pack? -
mujjuman -- When you say that you need to uninstall the older drivers before installing the new drivers for the Nvidia, synaptics, 5-in-1, etc. (or something bad will happen) -- is that only if you have already installed a version of the driver for that but want to install a different version?
When you first install XP, and then start installing the drivers for the first time, there aren't drivers already installed as part of XP for these things that need to be uninstalled prior to installing the ones you provide in the Driver Pack 1.10, are there?
I want to make sure I understand this aspect correctly... Thanks! -
im going to guess less than 1% of laptops sold is the US.
where do you want me to upload the driver pack?[/QUOTE]
I guessed that more people downgrade
I was able to download the 1.02 version from Hansmast´s url , if is posible to upload the new pack to the same place it would be great. I don´t know any other place.
Again thanks for all the support and patience. -
Hi..gr8 thread! I was going to start the process of having a dual OS on my preinstalled vista notebook..But before that I have one query...My notebook is a HP dv2615nr of the dv2000 series. It has an AMD Turion 64X2 with NVidia 7150M as the IGP..Now the SATA drivers which are thr in the DriverPack1.02, are they only for intel or will they work with AMD chipsets too.. And ' incase' they dont, does anyone have SATA drivers for AMD turion systems..??
And one more thing..the DrivePack mentions some AMD CPU Drivers..What are these for and when shd they be installed?? -
AMD actually updates their CPU drivers unlike Intel. They replace the standard processor drivers. I have an AMD CPU on my desktop and I use these drivers so I'd advise installing them on your system. You need to find the model of SATA controller on your notebook, if you have Vista still installed it should be easy to find out in device manager.
Grand Admiral -
did you install the old driver pack?
-
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=186409 (deals with the dv6600 series in particular but should work for your dv2600/dv2500 series since they share most of their hardware) -
And since this will be me installing XP for the first time on my dv9500t, I won't need to uninstall any drivers before installing the drivers included in Driver Pack 1.10, correct?
(A friend of mine is going to download the driver pack for me, since I only have dial-up -- but in case it doesn't work for him like with donsenen, can you post the link here on the thread for the secondary place you're uploading it to?)
Thanks, mujjuman! -
I also forgot to ask...
My dv9500t has an Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T7250 (though you said yours has a T7300, I think). Does this mean I'll need to use a different driver for something or the same one?
Here's just the basic stats for what mine has:
Processor: Intel® Core 2 Duo processor T7250 (2.00 GHz, 2 MB L2 Cache, 800MHz FSB)
Display: 17.0" WXGA+ High-Definition HP BrightView Widescreen Display (1440 x 900)
Memory: 2GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm)
Graphics Card: 128MB NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS
HP Imprint Finish (Radiance) + Microphone
Intel® PRO/Wireless 4965AGN Network Connection
Hard Drive: 240GB 5400RPM SATA Dual Hard Drive (120GB x 2)
Media Drive: LightScribe SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-RW with Double Layer Support
Will everything I need (other than the lightscribe driver) be included in Driver Pack 1.10?
And regarding the drive -- is there a driver for that I have to install first from the Driver Pack 1.10 then install the lightscribe driver after that? Or do I just find/download the lightscribe driver and install that?
Thanks again!
I'm doing the install this Saturday morning, so if you could post back about this and my previous post above before then, that would be great!Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015 -
As long as you have the same chipset (for the AMD or Intel drivers) they will be fine. There is no other driver other than the Lightscribe system software required to enable lightscribe.
Had a rather worrying incident yesterday. On resume from hibernate my computer BSOD then refused to load normally, safe mode or last good configuration. Had to use CHKDSK to repair the file system then run a repair cos Windows was mangled. Back online now.
Just an additional question, does anyone have any recommendations as to what i should do to get everything restabilised? I'm having a few nagging issues like start menu shortcuts that wont delete and about a 10 second delay after logging in before 'loading your personal settings' appears. I was thinking of completely reinstalling Windows but I'd prefer not to lose the updates since I have very limited internet access.

okay, so i just got my dv9500t.
and i managed to silp sata driver and install the xp
the problem is when i tried to install intel chipset driver included in the pack,
i get the error message
this application has failed to start because the application configuration is
incorrect. reinstalling the application may fix this problem
so i gave up on the chipset installation and tried to install xp service pack
and i stops and says the file is corrupt. so i burned the service pack
in rar, exe fomat again. exe format does not work again and rar does not
extract due to crc error.
can somebody help me out, i am going crazy over here. thanks -

what driver pack version are you using? (1.02 or 1.10)
can you please list your hardware specs and your laptop's model number (dv9560t, intel or AMD, 8400M GS, etc.)
-------------
dont do anything else before answering those questions.
if you have a CRC Check error, that means that the file is corrupted. you will have to redownload the file. what kind of internet connection do you have (dial up vs broadband)
broadband connections tend to have less inconsistencies when it comes to Checksums -
i am using 1.02
dv9500t,core duo 2 2.0ghz
im on the cable connection
and i did download drive pack 1.02 again and installed the xp again
still the same thing
this is weird because i did not have this problem with my previous
dv6500t and dv9500t
i will try to do it with driver pack 1.10 when i get back from work
also, could it possible that theres something wrong with my xp cd?
i highly doubt that because i just did the installlation with my xp cd
on my boss' dv6000t
as far as service pack file being corrupted, i really have no clue.
it works fine on my other computer but when i burned it to a cd in both
exe and rar format, rar does not extract due to crc error and exe stops
installtion saying that file is corrupt
chipset installtion is a bigger problem than the service pack because i can
do it through website once i get everything installed -
will hdmi work in xp? will sound go through hdmi? thanks

i dont think it will hurt to go back to Vista for now.... lets go back into Vista and download/install Everest and list all your hardware (model # and all) unless that can be done in XP as well.....
does your XP CD have any service packs on it? i first installed SP1 and i had some troubles, so i slipstreamed SP2 and now i have no troubles.
im going to bet that the CD you burned with the service pack has inconsistencies... -
Hi mujjuman -- I'm doing the XP install tomorrow and putting together notes from your excellent guide, but I have a few questions about some steps I don't know if I can skip or not, and I want to double-check...
14. Install the Bluetooth drivers. You might get an error message. That is ok, just continue the installation. I don't have Bluetooth, so obviously I skip this step, right?
15. Install the hp wireless assistant. This is so you can individually control the wireless card and the Bluetooth card. Reboot. I don't plan to use (nor do I want, unless necessary) the HP Wireless Assistant, but I do have a wireless card. Can I skip this step?
16. Before you can start using Bluetooth and sound, you will need to open device manager (mandatory). Click on hp intergrated module, and update driver. I don't understand if I'm still supposed to do this step, even without Bluetooth? Does this HP Integrated Module apply to me at all?
17. Click “no”, then choose Automatic on the next page, then click finish. Reboot. Again, I'm not sure if this applies to me...
18. Check device manager, and install the webcam drivers (even though a webcam is already detected and installed.) My computer didn't come with a webcam, so I can skip this step, right?
19. Open the device manager (mandatory) and find that “PCI Device” listed under “System”. Update the driver. But I would still do this step, is that correct?
I'm doing the install tomorrow first thing AM, so if you could post back as soon as possible, that would be great. Thanks! -

i downloaded another service pack 2 and installed it

just worked out great.
i still do not understand what was causing the problem
does the service pack must be installed before driver installion?
anyway, now i am able to enjoy my toy

Hello,
I have bought a new HP dv9680 laptop and I want to install windows XP.
I have, already install XP on dv6541,can follow the same procedure for installing on dv9680?
Thanks! -
mujjuman, I PM'd you -- but in case you don't see it in time, I thought I'd post to see if anybody knows the answers...
Anybody know the answers to the questions below?
16. Before you can start using Bluetooth and sound, you will need to open device manager (mandatory). Click on hp intergrated module, and update driver.
17. Click “no”, then choose Automatic on the next page, then click finish. Reboot.Click to expand...
2. Yes or No: Does this HP Integrated Module apply to me at all? (If so, how?)
3. Yes or No: Do I need to do these steps?
8. Install the Realtek drivers. Start with “RTL8169…” first, then install “RTL8168…” Notice the LAN icon in the system tray. Open up “Network Connections” and you will see the LAN icon there as well. Reboot and check device manager.Click to expand...
5. Then what are “RTL8169…” and “RTL8168…”? Are they different drivers that also need to be installed? And if so, when does New Ethernet Driver (Ver. 5.680) get installed in relation to them? Or are they just part of the New Ethernet Driver (Ver. 5.680)?
Any help is appreciated... I'm doing the install in less than three hours!
Thanks!Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015 -

1. Yes or No: Do these two steps apply towards having getting your sound to work, even if you don't have Bluetooth nor want to install/use HP Wireless Assistant?
2. Yes or No: Does this HP Integrated Module apply to me at all? (If so, how?)

the RTLxxx stuff is from the older version of the guide. the drivers have updated since then, but i havent had tiime to rewrite the guide. just install the LAN driver from the driver pack when you reach that step. -
9. Install the UAA Driver and Reboot. Check device manager (this one is mandatory) and notice that PCI Device has a “!” next to it. We will take care of that later.Click to expand...
When I installed the UAA Driver a popup window came up similar to the one of the two you see here:
We first tried to find the driver it was looking for, letting it search (since the guide didin't say anything about this box popping up at this time), but we didn't find anything. It kept popping up. So we tried just reinstalling the UAA driver again, and the same thing happened (just with less step). However, when we went to device manager, the PCI Device DID NOT have a “!” next to it. So we just proceeded to install the Realtek HD Audio Drivers, skipped the blue tooth and HP wireless assistant (and HP Integrated Module) steps and finished up.
The problem is, even though the sound works, the icon for the sound (the little speaker icon in the systray) looks all low-res and blocky (not how it normally looks) and when you right-click it the icon for the Realtek Sound Manager looks blocky (just like the little icon). Is this how it's supposed to look? Or is there a problem?
Note, I've done all Windows critical updates at this point as well.
---------------------
Also, when I was first installing the SATA drivers (remember, I did it with a floppy), I chose the wrong one (one of the RAID ones) by accident, which, of course, didn't work, then I saw that "Mobile ICH8M-E/M" was listed in the guide, so I went back and chose that one, and it all worked fine. So did I mess anything up by choosing the RAID one at first by accident?
Do you have this file: Iaanotif.exe listed in msconfig/startup? (I looked it up, and it looked like it had something to do with RAID, so I got worried -- but if you've got it too, then it must be normal...)
Let me know the scoop -- thanks!Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015
