Words of encouragement for those with a dv2500t: it all works perfectly if you follow the instructions on the first page. Now that XP's installed, it's time to begin Ubuntu....

Is there drivers for:
- Fingerprint Detector?
- Nvidia GeForce 8600M GS?
So we can have a partition, so when I click the QuickPlay button that boots up? Like Windows doesn't have to boot?
Thanks very much! -

2. Re: Iaanotif.exe -- It's in my msconfig/startup. Do you maybe have a service running that's called "Intel® Application Accelerator" if you check under services? That's what this thing is -- and it *had* to come from using the Driver Pack 1.10 because that's all I used. See this:
http://www.intel.com/support/chipsets/iaa/sb/CS-020801.htm
I don't get how I have this, because if you look at this link, our chipset isn't even listed:
http://www.intel.com/support/chipsets/iaa/sb/cs-009293.htm
Thoughts?
3. You didn't answer the question I had above about what happened with the installation of the audio drivers...
Looking forward to hearing back -- thanks! -

-
for those with HDMI problems and questions, refer to these posts. this is for Windows Vista though, dont know if it applies to XP
-
hows ur install so far?
-
Hello,
There is no fingerprint drivers & cannot set it to Digital output.
I have located HPQPDP. Is it easy to install.
Thanks
EDIT:
Someone gave me Driver Genius Pro and it has updated some of the drivers. Is this good? -
Could that be the problem? Wrong driver? DVDs play... but not on windows media player....u can just hear the sound (no video)...
I just checked and also my HDMI out doesnt work...
I have done the XP install and these are my problems so far...
Heres the comp I have:
- HP Pavilion dv9500t CTO NB
- Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo processor T7700 (2.40 GHz, 4 MB L2 Cache, 800MHz FSB)
- 17.0" WXGA+ High-Definition HP BrightView Widescreen Display (1440 x 900)
- $50 OFF 2GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm) from 1GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm)!!
- 256MB NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GS
- HP Imprint Finish (Radiance) + Webcam + Microphone
- Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 4965AGN Network Connection and Bluetooth(TM)
- 240GB 7200RPM SATA Dual Hard Drive (120GB x 2)
- FREE Upgrade to LightScribe SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-RW with Double Layer Support!! -
Thats weird... windows media hasnt worked in a few days and right now even it wasnt.... I decided to try a DVD real quick one more time an it finally played video...
Now looks like the HDMI is the only thing not workin still.... -
Thats weird...everything started working....
I dunno if its a xp codec pack I downloaded or... I dunno... maybe after the few restarts... -
I had a question about the instructions on the first post.
At step 10, it says install the WDM Drivers, what are those?
Secondly, I have a dv6607nr that does not come with bluetooth, but do I need to install the bluetooth and wireless assistant in order to get the sound working?
I have tried running the bluetooth (which I thought might be the WDM Drivers in question WDM-WIDCOMM) but it doesn't make sense that it would be asked to be installed again in step 14.
I installed bluetooth along with the UAA, the modem, and wireless assistant, but I never saw the 'hp intergrated module' in the device manager for step 16.
Thanks! -

you have a dv6500
i dont know if you can use this tutorial, because i dont think you have the santa rosa (ICH8M) chipset...... can you find out what chipset you have? might as well download and install Everest and list your hardware details here. you dont even have a santa rosa CPU.... so i dunno if this guide will apply. but for now, just list your hardware from everest (especially chipset)
also, what country are you from? it also depends on what country because the hardware is different -
Here's a cap from Everest. At the beggining, this message appeared:
Is this the information you asked for?
Thanks a lot. I created this topic: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=201363 where I explain my "situation" and everything, with no replies... I hope someone can help me, I less than a rookie in laptop issues.
PS: Sorry for my (bad) english! -
hmm, i dont know. its not the same if you bought it in the USA. i think you should stick with Vista..... but it wont hurt to try and give XP a shot using these drivers.
-
Which are the differences? I bought it at Costco.
I hate Vista... Is there anything you saw on the screenshots I posted that showed the CPU specs, that makes you think this (useful) tutorial won't fit my laptop?
Why would you reccomend me to stick with Vista?
Thanks for your help!
PS: What's "slipstreaming"? -
slipstreaming is adding a driver to a Windows installation CD, so that it is automatically installed when you install Windows.
yeah you have a Pentium CPU, which, as far as i know, isnt a Core 2 Duo processor. also, you dont have the intel ICH8M GM965 chipset.
im recommending you to stick with Vista because it sounds like it can be a HUGE hassle for you to install XP and get it working. but you can still try. -
I figured it out!
I had SP3 installed and that was conflicting with the UAA sound driver.
EeeUser ASUS Eee PC EeePC Forum / no audio -- PCI Device -- Fixed
Thanks again for your help! And anyone having trouble getting XP SP3 to work feel free to check out the post. -
Isn't a Dual-Core? In the CP/System I can read:
Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) Dual CPU T2310 @ 1.46 Ghz 1.47 Ghz
If my chpset is different, shouldn't I just change to the appropiate driver to include at the WinXP CD, when slipstreaming?
I really need to change to XP, or Vista Ultimate, although I preffer the 1st. option... Thanks, hope you can help me! -
Hi all.
I couldn't find any thread about Windows XP 64 on the DV9600 series.
Are there any?
Thank you. -
its a dual core CPU, but according to everest it isnt a Core Duo. -
-
The Nvidia driver went "so so" fine...
And sticking with Vista has never crossed my mind.
-
Everest game me this specs, among others, about my laptop:
However, I know for sure that XP Pro isn't installed on my laptopP), and at the ControlPAnel/System, I can read:
Excuse me for asking for help based on incorrect information... Which program should I use in order to view my exact laptop specs and post it here, so you can tell me if this tutorial will fit my needs?
Thanks a lot! -
You can read the paragraph, or skip to the end to see the short question.
I must be the biggest noob in the world. So I finished making the XP CD with Nlite and that fun stuff.. got all the drivers.. im on the last step before i get rid of vista and install XP... and thats burning that dang recovery drive.
What burning program do you guys use? Because I can't find one that will allow me to start the burn on one DVD then ask me to insert another when that is done... I have Nero 8.. the trial atleast.. and I can't burn it...
So I'm sure theres a very simple solution to this, but I'm just not seeing it!
Short Question: How do i burn the recovery on more than one disk? Program, etc. -
Hi again...
Can someone tell me which drivers do I have to include in the XP Cd for my notebook? I just need some help on that, and I'll follow the rest of the tutorial... Since I'ts Intel-based, is different.
This are mi specifications: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...1880&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN
Thanks. -
Hi guys, i've recently bought a dv6626us laptop and wanted to install Windows XP for some old dentist application but i'm not able to install it, does somebody tried to install xp on this laptop before?
her are my hardware specs =) HP
Thanks in advance, regards from Monterrey, Mexico. -
Well, I'm just posting to say thanks for the guide again, managed to get my laptop 95% working so far (some dork forgot to download the microsoft audio driver when he was getting everything else <.<
.
But unfortunatly either my power cord or the port the cord plugs into seems to be defective so even though I'm plugged in my laptop runs off the battery, so looks like I get to wrestle with HP's costumer support before I get to fully enjoy this baby with XP :/ -
hello, where can i find the new driver pack 1.10?
-
mujjuman -- How's it going? Did you ace those exams?
So it looks like my install went just about perfect (thanks again for th guide and drivers!). But I have a couple questions:
1a. I installed the QuickLaunch buttons drivers, and the main buttons work (volume, mute) -- but I don't have the QuickLaunch "control panel" listed in Windows Control Panel (on my old computer, you get this in Control Panel and if you double-click it, you get the "QuickLaunch Buttons Properties" that allows you to change what the keyboard buttons are for. Why don't I have this? Do you have it?
1b. So here's the weird thing -- the two QuickPlay buttons (for QuickPlay and DVD) actually *turn on the computer* when they are pressed! (Obviously, it doesn't run any programs, because the QuickPlay software isn't installed.) This is kind of annoying because the buttons are VERY sensitive and you can easily turn on your computer by accident. Do you know what's up with that or what I can do about it?
2a. Re: The dial-up modem -- I notice that, compared to my old laptop, it doesn't connect as fast (48.0 to 50 as compared to 51 to 53). It also hangs for a couple seconds on dial-up and disconnect. Anything to do about that?
2b. There is also some program that runs on startup called sm56hlpr.exe. Do you know what this is and if it would be better to turn it off?
Looking forward to hearing back -- thanks! Happy Holidays! -
just try using the same drivers from this thread
-
Thanks mujjuman!! I'll try with those drivers and let you know the results...
-
I recently got a HP DV6775us (specs here) for work and have been using your guide to get a bunch of things setup for my laptop since our software is not compatible under Vista. I know this guide is for different HP DV series, but I figure it was close enough. I am still having trouble getting sound and my modem driver installed. I have NO sound (installed UAA and WDM). Any ideas?
Thanks a ton for the guides! -
And XPsmashVista!, I noticed the same thing man, dail up speed is alot slower. -
-
I read that it's probably not good to disable that sm56hlpr.exe file at startup because it seems to actually be a part of the driver...
Any thoughts? -
-
I have a DV9500 and the translation from vista to xp went fine at the exception of the NIC card that i cannot find the drivers for it. Does somebody here know how and where to find these drivers.
thanks.
My model is a DV9612ca -
-
Uh oh, I might be boned! My laptop wont even charge up enough to get past the boot screen and I haven't been able to revert back to vista and I don't have/know anyone with an sata-compliant laptop.
I said I downgraded to xp during my costumer support convo with them and they're still sending me the box to send it to them.
So hopefully I'll luck out and the just do a re-install without looking in the hard drive and seeing I repartitioned (or maybe they'll take a look in my 4chan /d folder and it'll scare them off from snooping around in it anymore >.>).
-
Does anyone know where I can get the original battery software for the HP DV6500t.... I do not enjoy the software that is currently being used after installing all the drivers and whatnot.. This is because when I put this one in power saver mode it does not automatically low screen brightness or anything like the original does, so If anyone could tell me where I can get the original, that would be great.

Hi Mujjuman: Thanks for your guide, was able to remove vista and install xp on my hp dv6626us. However, I dont have the hp integrated module under device manager, and unable to carry out step 16 and on of you guide. Reinstalled xp several times and still dont see the hp integrated module. any advise?
thanks -
Hi Mujjuman: Sorry I was lazyearlier, did not search thru the thread. I think I found my problem, similar to someone else with sp3, will try and let you know.
thanks again for a great guide -
Sorry for the multiple post... but just wanted to thank Mujjuman again for his work. And I should know better to follow instructions.... sp2 is not same as sp3.
found the solution thanks to jhsujhsu. now have sound and no ? in device manager
thanks -
Hi Everyone.
Just checking in quickly. My notebook had to be completely reinstalled to repair the file system damage but i managed to rescue all of my files. I think the cause was a hacked program i downloaded two days before it died. I tried the display drivers included in the new driver pack which seemed to correct my resolution problem but none of my games would play. So i'm back using 163.71 and the resolutions have gone stupid again. If anyone could suggest another driver to try it would be greatly appreciated.

what games are you trying to play? im playing CoD4 (its soooo hott) no problems
