i am using windows xp and i have nvidia 8400 gs screen card.
when i using the latest driver from laptopvideo2go.com i can't see nothing on my tv when i am using the tv-out.
but when i am using the tweakforce.com Xtreme-G Mobile 163.67 XP 32bit everything is o.k with the tv-out.
what can be the problem??
-
-
Yes, the disk works fine on my desktop, I'm wondering if there's some sort of conflict with the Hitaci Drive?
Paul. -
OK, I found the problem... It's the second 250Gb Samsung HM250JI hdd. When I removed it, XP installed with all drivers frist time
Now that I've replaced the drive after all XP updates have been applied and up to date, XP won't go past the logo screen and eventually just cycles back through the booting process.
Trying to boot into safe mode won;t work either, all is good when the drive is removed though.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Regards and thanks,
Paul -
Hi yakovyarmo
What model do you have and what tv out are you using (S-Video or HDMI)? I have the dv6519tx and am using the 156.83 drivers from laptopvideo2go and my s-video out works perfectly. I'm not sure about HDMI but with the s-video make sure you've set the correct output format otherwise it will go very screwy. Takes a bit of trial and error if you dont know what your tv can tolerate.
Also to everyone, I've been using the 156.83 drivers for at least a week now and my resolutions haven't gone screwy. I'll keep you all informed how they're going but everything seems to be running 100% (Dawn of War and S-video out both work). I'd recommend a couple more people try them and see how they go.

thanks for the update
-
It certainly is great! The first time that I'm happy to say my notebook is problem free!
So to Mujjuman, Hackez and everyone else, THANK YOU ALL!
Grand Admiral -
thanks for the quick reply. i am connected with s-video. why you are using the driver of the 15x.xx series and not with the 16x.xx series?
by the way i tried playing bioshock with couple of the screen caed drivers and none of them helped because it got stock in the begining of the second level.
another question is where can i find driver on hp website for windows xp and the dv6500t?
and one tinnny last question is how can i use the spdif out on xp?? -
Please a mirror for the latest 1.10 drivers
-
I've succesfully installed XP but (as expected) my ethernet and sound still don't work. I've tried several drivers but none of them work. Maybe someone can help me out?

The whole reason we aren't using official HP drivers for XP is that there aren't any. Since this is a Vista laptop, HP didn't bother. Which sucks alot!

Has anyone has success installing XP on a DVx7xxT? I used a service pack 3 windows xp disc (which is supposed to have the 888111 hotfix in it) I also installed the UAA driver from the tutorial above and used everything from version 1.34 to 1.84 (latest) driver from Realtek. I also tried "update driver" from within device manager to no avail. My sound still does not work after all of this. Is there any fix or do I need to try reinstalling XP with SP2 and then try again? Everest said my audio hardware is "Realtek ALC268 @ Intel 82801HBM ICH8M." And my laptop specifically is a dv6775us.
sorry for the double post, but this is obviously relevant here. -
yes its relevent, but i thought that XP couldnt be installed properly on the x7xx series due to change in ACPI
-
mujjuman, i want to install xp on my nx7300 but where can i find the drivers?
-
I've been googling for it last night but nothing that could help me out.
edit: solved it. I've installed the drivers of the dv9055 http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=228&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=3289695&lang=en
Ethernet was fixed with the Intel PRO/1000 Network Adapter Driver (the bottom one) and for audio I first installed Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) Bus Driver for High Definition Audio (sp32646) and then Conexant High Definition Audio Driver -
i soldered a little bit and now i can watch with no problems. -
Excellent, thank you very much mujjuman (for post 631)
-
Its my dang Audio I'm having HORRID problems with. I wonder if SP3 corrected the ACPI problem but added the audio problem? That would seem weird as SP3 is supposed to have KB888111 pre-installed. I have no idea if SP3 has any ACPI hotfixes in it.
Any help with the audio would be greatly appreciated. -
you have a dv6700 series right?
do you even have the same sound hardware as the dv6500? i dont know if everest will tell you if u dont have a good driver installed. give it a try though -
Hey-O! Reinstalled XP with an SP2 disk and followed the instructions to a T and I'm up and running, sound works and everything! I assembled most of my own drivers though. I used Everest to detect my hardware while still in Vista. One of two things happened, either I didn't follow the directions properly the first time, or XP SP3 doesn't like the high-def audio even though it is supposed to have native support for it, I may try to contact microsoft about this.
I am having a problem with my fn+Fkey buttons. I cannot dim the screen. My volume and other quicklaunch buttons work, as do some of the other fn+Fkeys, but the two dimmer buttons do not work. It seems to me like there is a conflict somewhere. I went into nVidia control panel and tried to use its smart dim feature and it would not dim the screen either. Is there a way to view driver conflicts? It seems like I saw something like that in vista, and I liked that, but I don't recall it in XP.
No problems with ACPI using SP2 disk either. I think we can call dv6700t's confirmed working with this guide, but must use SP2 disk, no SP3 pre-releases, and someone else will have to test the real deal.
Thanks for the guide mujjuman
edit: I didn't check device manager until just now, and it lists an "unknown device" tried updating from the web via device manager but it said it couldn't find a driver. I can't imagine what this is, everything I know of is installed. -
What is the unknown device attached to? Use Device Manager and change your view to "By Connection" to determine. If its on your PCI Bridge then it may be a component of the card reader (if your model has one). Also check your LPC Interface (Or whatever you touchpad and keyboard is attatched to), this should be where the quicklaunch buttons are located. If its like the dv6500 there should be 2 subcomponents of the Quicklaunch buttons, one of these may be missing.
Hopefully I'm not just pointlessly typing technobabble to solve a simple problem. LOL
Grand Admiral -
i wonder if you used different drivers. if you dont mind, can u please PM me the list of hardware you found using everest? if u still have it saved.
hmm, about the unknown device, did u install bluetooth, card reader, quicklaunch? -
Unknown device is attached to ICH8M LPC controller. I don't see any QLB devices attached there, but the keyboard and touchpad are there. I'm tried uninstalling and reinstalling QLB, but no change.
I don't have bluetooth, installed card reader and quicklaunch. I can't figure it out, all other QLB work except dimmer buttons.
edit: QLB now working after installing driver from SWSETUP backup made under Vista.
Here is a driver pack for those that want to downgrade a dv67xxt. It does not include the dual core fix, I forgot it, and it does not include a GMA X3100 driver either, as I do not know if it would work. These all should work. I cannot confirm figerprint reader or bluetooth functionality, although I did provide those drivers, and they should work based on what other drivers worked. Drivers are numbered in the order they should be installed in. These were originally compiled for a dv6775t which is C2D 5450, PM965 chipset, 4965AGN wireless, nVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS, Realtek ALC268, ricoh memory card reader, realtek RTL8101E ethernet, and motorola modem.

Can someone pls. upload the drivers from therulebookman to somewhere where is not country limit? Thanks. I'm trying to install xp on dv6750, but I cannot get them... Btw. do I need a processor driver? It look's like the cpu is hotter under xp (no whining, maybe no deeper C states transitions? fan runs more often).

Regards and thanks,

Ive got the DV9520tx and had kept Vista for a while before I changed to XP. Now that I have XP ive noted a very noticable slow down in the wireless. Mainly on websites like Stage6 or YouTube the videos are taking ages to buffer and this didnt occur in Vista. Was wondering if there is a remedy for this? Thanks
-
i have very important question. does all that requires for me to do dual boot or something? cuz im still wondering how its going to appear in the boot screen "microsoft windows xp" ????
-
Ok, downloaded, installed, now everything works (on hp dv6750ec), no questions in device manager, thank you.
-
Also, it might be good to add to the guide in bold that when you're installing the SATA drivers, you should make sure to choose "Mobile ICH8M-E/M". I didn't realize this at first back when I did mine (mostly because the person helping me told me to do the wrong ones until I read through the guide looking for a mention of the right one and finally found it), and tried two other options first (which, of course didn't work). However, I have a question on this -- the fact that I tried two "wrong" options (and went through the installation process to the end point where it said it didn't work or whatever), then finally chose the right one -- did I "hurt" anything by choosing the wrong options first and going through the whole process to the end where it says it didn't work? Know what I mean?
Thanks! -
-------------
however, if you install the WRONG drivers for hardware that IS present, then there will be problems.
but thats not your case. -
Yes, I used therulebookman's drivers. It took "only" 4h to download... (2Mb/s connection).
SATA doesn't have master and slave. -
4 hours!!
oh ok thanks. lol i didnt know that -
Do these drivers work for dv2617us OS win XPSP2 as well?
-
well this driver pack has realtek audio but dv2600 series have conexant audio, so its not gonna work.
-
Oh Thanks ...This is really great .....i have a dv2500 and it working great in xp ...

cool but please dont quote my entire post lol

First I'd like to say thinks to Mujjuman and Hackez for this "Lifesaver" guide. And your ability to maintain it so long, I think the first post was in September and it's still going strong 5 months later! Awesome! It has obviously helped a lot of people and I hope to be was of those lucky ones real soon.
I am extremely disappointed in HP for their lack of support when it comes to Downgrading (terrible term) to XP. To be honest the main reason we bought the HP was because of the price compared to a similar Dell. I've learned now with just the amount of time I have wasted trying to get rid of Vista (does not work with our CAD software) well than makes up for the price difference. If you are considering the purchase of a new HP, please consider the Vista issue as a factor.
Anyway that is all I have to say on HP, I do not like to push my opinion on anyone, I just want people to be aware of their lack of support.
Now on to my Laptop. I have spent the last week or so trying to downgrade to XP. I stumbled of this wonderful post about three days ago. I spend one hole day reading every single post on all 74 pages, hoping I would not be the first to attempt this on a DV9700t. Unfortunately I think I will be the first at least related to this post and threads.
I am starting from scratch today 02/13/08 ~09:30 PST. I will do my best to keep this updated of my progress to hopefully help anyone else with a dv9700t, Intel Core 2 Duo T7500.
Before I start here is all my laptop info from my order:
- HP Pavilion dv9700t Entertainment CTO NB (Model Number: GT811AV)
- Upgrade to Genuine Windows Vista Business (32-bit) (What a joke)
- Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo Processor T7500 (2.20 GHz, 4 MB L2 Cache, 800MHz FSB)
- 17.0" WXGA+ High-Definition Ultra HP BrightView Widescreen Display (1440 x 900)
- 4GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm)
- 512MB NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GS
- FREE Upgrade to HP Imprint Finish (Radiance) + Fingerprint Reader + Webcam + Microphone!!
- Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 4965AGN Network Connection and Bluetooth(TM)
- 240GB 7200RPM SATA Dual Hard Drive (120GB x 2)
- HD DVD-R with SuperMulti DVD+/-R/RW Double Layer
- No TV Tuner w/remote control
- High Capacity 8 Cell Lithium Ion Battery
- I have also purchased XP Professional SP2 Licensed Version of XP. This is not an illegal copy, we paid full price at Best Buy for it, it’s brand new and never been installed anywhere else.
Well I think that is all for now I'm going to start gathering all my info with Everest and make my recovery DVD's.
Any info anyone can give me at anytime is always appreciated. I will update this post with my progress as much as I can. I am doing this all from work so there will be times when I get tied up and can't respond or post quickly. I typically work M-F 08:00 - 17:00 PST. Sorry after Five is family time so most likely it will be the next day before I start back up again.
Thanks to you all. "United we Stand, Divided we Fall!"
Here goes!
Update 02/13/08 8:00 PM. XP SP2 Successfully installed not a single BSOD with multiple restarts. Tomorrow on to all the Drivers! Thanks again to all that participated in the post, I could not have done it without everyone sharing their experiences.
As always I will update tomorrow with my progress with the drivers. Just one question is there any particular order I should install the drivers in? Please update me if you can.
Thanks! -
Just a word of warning, possibly specific to the dv2632TX, for anyone contemplating a BIOS update on their XP'd system. Today just before sending off my laptop's old hard disk with its pre-installed Vista to a buyer, I decided to stick it back in to run Vista and upgrade the BIOS, since HP firmware upgrade utility claims to only support Vista.
After upgrading the BIOS (first to the current F.25 then down to F.21), XP wouldn't start - early on in the boot it'd flash a blue screen for a fraction of a second before rebooting (I managed to capture the error on my camera, the jist of it being "the BIOS in this system is not fully ACPI compliant"). Even safe mode wouldn't start, failing when it tried to load sptd.sys. Wasted enough time today so I won't be trying another BIOS update and going into the recovery console to try to disable sptd.sys to see what happens.
Thankfully HP had the original F.13 BIOS on their website and downgrading to that fixed things, otherwise it would've been a very frustrating evening. -
if you are using the driver pack from this thread (use the first link at the very top) then it has the order in which you should install the drivers. start out by installing them in this order:
Intel Chipset Drivers
Intel Matrix Storage Manager Drivers
Nvidia Forceware Graphic Drivers
Realtek Ethernet Drivers
UAA Audio Drivers
Realtek High Definition Audio Drivers WDM
do those in the exact order (restart whenever it asks you to) and you should be fine. for the other drivers, you can mix and match just a bit.
i dont really see a good reason to upgrade the BIOS anyway... -
Alright, I knew it was going too smooth for a reason. The calm before the storm I guess. For those that don't know please see my post about three threads back. I just installed XP on my DV9700t with no problems, no BSOD, no ACPI errors thus far. I am now attempting to get all the drivers on.
Thank Mujjuman for the order to install them. I got the chipset driver and the Matrix Storage Manager installed they both seem to be working fine. But I'm having issues with the driver for my NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GS. The drivers keep giving me the following error:
"The NVIDIA Setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. Setup will now exit."
So I'm a little lost now, does anyone know what I might be doing wrong? Can someone point me in the right direction to fix this problem? As always any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Disregard this issue, I just resolved it. I was using the newest Nvidia driver which did not work. When I used the older one released in Driver Pack 1.10 it worked like a charm. On to the other drivers, I'll continue to keep everyone posted.
Thanks!
PS to Mujjuman will the pictures for the Driver portion of this guide become active again? Just curious, I love to see the pictures so I can visually confirm what I am doing. -
i had the pics up, but they were keep using up bandwidth (i use photobucket) so i had to take themdown. they ran out of bandwidth after less than a week for several months. so i said i temporarily took them down but it seems as if theyll be down for quite a while.
the driver is working fine now? resolutions, colors, etc?
[edit]
also im going to class right now, so i wont be back till after 9PM Eastern Time... lol. -
riverraider, you should seriously consider using my driver pack (pg 73 post #723 of this thread). I think you may have problems using mujjuman's driver pack. Actually, maybe the only problem would be the dimmer issue, but its worth it to fix that. My driver pack also has the latest (patched) nVidia driver 169.09 which has been reported to give a boost in graphics performance. It has a patch applied that will allow you to use it with your card. Drivers are also numbered in the order they should be installed in.
mujjuman, will you edit your original post to indicate that there has been some success with dv(6,9)7xxt's? And include a link to my driver pack with my explanation. Right now the original post indicates "no word on 6700 and 9700."
Anyone that has a 2700 and is willing to experiment (PM me first, especially if inexperienced in this area, BIOS flashing is risky) should try to downgrade their bios firmware to one that is ACPI compliant. PM me and maybe we can work on this if someone is interested. -

made a moderate update with some revisions:
this is what i remember adding:
dv9700 driver link
fixed links
updated notices
added some more notices
etc
etc
dont know why my guide came out a bit weird this time..... too much extra space. -
Success!
I successfully installed XP on a dv9774ca with no problems whatsoever using therulebookman's pack.
Thanks SO much, guys... This is exactly what I was looking for!
My job required that I purchase this machine for the company, and they wanted XP on it... I thought I was out of luck until I ran across this! Thanks again!
