i just installed xp sp 2 on my dv2500
its a t7500 with the 8400 geforce video card and finger print reader

i just tried installing a bunch of xp drivers but i still have:

    -no sound
    -no driver for videocard
    -no wireless
    -no driver for fingerprint reader

and probably other stuff that i just havent noticed.

i really dont want to read 80 pages.

how do i fix these problems?

    Hello,

What's the difference between the ICH8M SATA/RAID driver
and the ICH8M-E/M SATA AHCI driver?

yes you can install 64bit Windows.

    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=228&lc=en&cc=us&lang=en&dlc=en&product=1842155

download and install the drivers for the hardware that your computer has...
go into BIOS to disable SATA support.
    install the chipset driver FIRST.
then install the SATA drivers, reboot into BIOS and turn SATA support ON.
and then install the video driver.
install UAA, then install the HD Audio driver

did you miss the first post?

    for sound, first install UAA:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...n&cc=us&dlc=en&product=1842155&os=228&lang=en

and then install this driver for conexant hd audio:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...n&cc=us&dlc=en&product=3195733&os=228&lang=en

did you read the first post atleast? i understand... nobody wants to read all 80+ pages but the answers are usually updated at the beginning of the first post.

did you use the driver pack from this guide or did you obtain the drivers yourself?

im pretty sure the wireless driver from my pack works for the dv2500 as well.... i have not received any news about it not working. install the ricoh card reader from my pack as well to attempt to get rid of the other "!" devices.

im not 100% positive. all i know is that the newer BIOS make it harder to install XP and will give ACPI problems once XP is installed. in order to bypass it, a BIOS downgrade must be done (sorta risky though)

the RAID driver is for laptops that support RAID and have a RAID configuration. i dont think the dv6500/dv9500 supports RAID.

My BIOS version is F33, I have ignored the new F45 release. In case of a downgrade, do you know where to get the previous (F21) version?

My lappy is back now! Silent as can be :D Ill try to upgrade to XP later tonight. I want to try Vista SP1 first :)

yea you're right, forgot to install that driver. so now all i have left that i can notice is:
    1. Wifi not working
    2. No sound.
    3. The computer does not tell me how much battery % is left, it thinks its connected to an outlet all the time.
    4. See picture, i dunno what the others are

FINALLY! I have had this dv9500 for a month and gotten very little use out of it because Vista outright sucks.

Great job on the guide, I had only a few problems mostly due to not following the directions step by step. To me the most important part was that the XP nlite disk installed first shot. Had to muck with drivers a bit, but on the whole it was pretty easy.

Boy was it great to get rid of those last few yellow! :)

I set up and wrote the XP boot disk on my desktop machine, since good ol’e vista didn’t like nlite for some reason.

    Thanks,

    Roy

sweet. let us know if Vista SP1 is better.

for the time being, stick with your current version of BIOS. unless u confirmed it doesnt work right with XP

because Windows XP does not have the driver to "see" the harddrives otherwise

thats sweet man, im glad it worked out for you!

I have successfully installed Windows XP, at last!! :D
My laptop is completely silent and stable since I got it back from repair and I got only one eventlog error about acpi after installation but it doesn't appear anymore. No crashes. No bluescreens. No driver conflicts.
    Everything's just great :D

    Thank you all!

2wicked, can you see the wireless card anywhere? If not then it must be attached to the malfunctioning PCI Express port. Have you tried downloading the latest chipset drivers from intel? What is the problem being reported by the PCI Express port? Could you post a new image of your device manager on "Devices by Connection" and expanded so we can see where the missing devices belong.

I'm sorry I was out of town the last week and a half. Feel free to ask me any question, just be warned I am no expert. I just followed the instructions from this forum and everything seemed to work okay. I will be glad to help as much as I can though.

    Thanks!

I get a BSOD after i install some drivers on my dv9706tx
i installed from an integrated DVD with driverpacks from bashrat so i didn't have any of those sound, wifi...etc other problems and no BSOD either. But! I still have some devices missing and i've identified them to be:
    1) Ricoh 5-in-1 reader
    2) Bluetooth
    3) FingerPrint Reader
    4) HP Remote Control?
    5) Quick Launch buttons

After reinstalling the drivers for all of them i get a BSOD. I don't know which driver it is exactly... I am using the drivers from therulebookman as suggested by the guide...

BIOS is at 42. Any ideas?

Now between bluetooth & Fingerprint reader, which one should i install first? I have installed the others in the order specified, and haven't encountered any problems... though i suspect BSOD appear randomly rather than always...

    1) Bluetooth
    2) FingerPrint Reader

    Which version?

On the HP site i see only 45
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=228&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=3642406&lang=en

actually wait i see 33 and 45... there is no 42... so if i screw up i can't go back to that!

    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...n&cc=us&lang=en&os=228&product=3642406&dlc=en

so is 33 good enough to go back to? When i next encounter the BSOD i'll post the info here... till now i haven't since i'm being extra careful in the drivers installation now.

Is there a reason to downgrade the BIOS? I can use XP fine for now, i just can't use those two devices...

So i backed up the partition using true image...
and now when i boot it up again i get a BSOD, doesn't go into windows at all.

I get the dreaded IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL error... meaning that it has a driver related issue! (as stated here : http://www.tweaksforgeeks.com/IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL.html )

Hmmm i hadn't even installed the other 2 drivers yet... so somehow between
    1) Ricoh 5-in-1 reader
    5) Quick Launch buttons
    I have a problem...

Anyway the full BSOD error is:
    Code:
    DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
    ... etc...
    *** STOP: 0x000000D1 (0x0065004E, 0x00000008, 0x0065004E)
    ...

There is no dll or other file stated as the cause for this error... so i don't know what's happening.

Vista still works fine, implying that the hardware is fine and not faulty... so what could the problem be?

I rebooted and win xp booted up just fine!...
strangely though now the HP Integrated module is missing from the device manager! Could that be the cause?

    /update
Enabling show hidden devices in device manager shows -
    Code:
    + Other Devices
     - Fingerprint Sensor
     - HP Integrated Module (hidden)
     - Keyboard_Filter_01 (an entry i've never seen before)
    + Non-Plug and Play Drivers
     - Serial (with exclamation mark showing it's not started!)

Thanks for the guide dude. I just finished slipstream a bootable xp cd :) Well, that's a good start, right? One of the things I just realized while trying to boot my dv2700t with this bootable CD. I have to hit F7 at the first screen when it loaded the storage drivers (where you normally hit F6), then it would start the XP installation & recognize my SATA drive, else I would get the blue screen.

    .
    Very helpful thread ....

Recently bought a dv9510tx (Intel T5450 1.66 Ghz, 4 Gb memory, Toshiba 160 Gb 5400, Nvidia GF 8400M GS) with Vista Ultimate 64-bit installed .... but have compatability issues with older XP application software ......

So plan is to buy replacement hard drive plus caddy etc, plus a new virgin copy of XP Pro / SP2, remove current Toshiba drive from dv9510tx, replace with new Seagate SATA 120GB 7200, then boot and install XP Pro from cd-rom/dvd drive in dv9510tx.

Will this work ..... main issue I guess is will XP Pro SP2 have all the necessary drivers to support the dv9510tx hardware ....

Any comments on above much appreciated.

In meantime will keep the Toshiba drive plus its installed Vista Ultimate for later use when Vista compatibilities (SP2 ?) improve.

Have also noticed that the dv9510tx occasionaly crashes (BSD) if I move the notebook across my desk .... my trusty IBM thinkpad 600x has never ever crashed and I slide it around my desk heaps !!

I read elsewhere that dv9000 series notebooks are pretty tempremental and prone to crashes, hope my new machine is not about to follow in the footsteps of all the the other bad experiences.

    Thanks for your feedback.

    Hi!!

I have a question for those who perfectly know the DV9500t:

I work with audio, and all professional interfaces say they DO NOT WORK GOOD with RICOH Fire Wire Chipset (the one that the HP has!)
I called Presonus (prof audio card manufacturer) and the told me that is not a problem, since I can get a separate Express card with a REAL Texas Instruments Fire Wires Chipset (the best for audio!). More specifically:

    http://www.rainrecording.com/1-877-MIX-RAIN/store/product.php?productid=16260&cat=270&page=1

The I read somewhere else that it wouldn't help, since the Express Card is also controlled by the dreaded RICOH controller. Is that true? How can I know if the Express card on the DV9500t is controlled by the Ricoh combo?
I do know the card reader is from ricoh too, but I dunno about the express card.

Thank you very mucho for your info!!

    ;)
