If I had something capable of testing 1080p I would. Unfortunately for you I'm going backwards in terms of tv output (Had a 7-pin to component adapter, now have that and a 7-pin to composite adapter cos nothing other than my tv accepts component!). I'd agree with your assessment though, if it works on Vista its the video driver. All I can suggest is try the 156.83 drivers. If they don't help you can always roll back to whatever you're using now.

Download these two, and play the 1080p files with the player and see the difference. -
Hey guys, I know I might be asking to much but I would be very pleased if someone could upload the drivers to some other place where I can download them since megaupload is blocked here in Saudi Arabia.
Thanks in advance -
Can anyone help me????
-
This guide has helped me a lot!
Thanks all!

tonyradz,
According to HP downloads your machine has a Realtek sound card, not conexant. Try the latest XP drivers form www.realtek.com.tw, select HD audio codec on the home page to get to the download.

Let me preface this post by saying that this is in regards to a dv6500t Special Edition notebook that came preinstalled with Windows Vista Home Edition. I used this guide to reformat my HDD, create the slipstream disc with SATA driver, and installed Windows XP Home Edition (32-bit edition) on it.
Anyway, I recently reformatted my notebook's HDD, and successfully installed Windows XP on it. Following the guide to install the drivers is where I am running into two major problems:
1) After installing the chipset drivers provided in this guide for my notebook, I reboot the machine (as the instructions say to in step 1). However, when I insert a thumbdrive in a USB port, it receives neither power or is recognized in My Computer.
I have tried three different known working thumbdrives, and used them in all three USB slots I have in the notebook. None are recognized by the laptop. It's worth mentioning that these thumbdives had no trouble being recognized by the laptop in the past. I have included a screenshot of my Device Manager.
The odd thing is that before I install any drivers, my USB thumbdrives work... it's only when I start installing drivers is when my thumbdrives don't work.
2) On step 16, where it asks you to open Device Manager and locate the HP Integrated Module, nowhere in Device Manager do I see this. Where did I go wrong, and why does it not appear in my Device Manager?
The frustrating part about this is that I had used this guide successully in the past to install Windows XP on this laptop and encountered ZERO problems. Now, when I reformatted my HDD and try to use the guide to install the drivers and such on my laptop, I am running into problems.
If anyone can help me or point me in the right direction, I would be tremendously appreciative. Thanks!

GrandAdmiral,
Thank you for helping, but drivers dont work for me.... If you have some free time, and if you can please write step by step instruction, or something what can help for me.... Do I need to install Microsoft UAA? -
garetjax,
The HP integrated module only shows up when your wireless switch is on (if your machine is like mine). The base system devices are part of your card reader (you need to select update driver for each and navigate to the XP driver folder in the card reader installer package). Could you please post a screenshot of the USB Root Hub properties (just pick one), or the error message they're reporting. That will help us diagnose the problem.
Grand Admiral -
Ok tonyradz, I'll try and talk you through it. For starters you need to download this file ftp://202.65.194.212/pc/audio/WDM_R193.exe (You probably already have it but I'm just checking you picked the right option). Run the installer, when the installation is complete do not reboot, open device manager and put it into 'View Devices by Connection'.
Just gotta reboot...
Ok now rebooted (I uninstalled my desktop's audio system to use as a reference, its Realtek HD too). If device manager still shows up with an unknown PCI device and Microsoft UAA is nowhere to be found, go to C:\Program Files\Realtek\Audio\InstallShield\ (this should have been created by the installer) and run KB888111xpsp2.exe (I'm assuming you will need Service Pack 2 or higher). That should install the UAA Bus, check device manager to be sure. If its there, re-run WDM_R193.exe and reboot when prompted. That should install the audio.
Now I have to go reinstall mine!
Good Luck
Grand Admiral -
to the user with the USB problem, garetjax (sorry i dont rem ur username)
for the first three unknown devices, right-click each of those and click update driver and see if that solves the prblem.
as for the USB issue..... wow wtf dude. it SEEMS as if it needs USB drivers.... but for XP that should not be necessary.... ??

thanks GrandAdmiral. -
GrandAdmiral,
Thank you very much, but i tried yours instructions and it didnt work. I tied a lot of stuff and finaly in some forum i founded that Windows Xp Pro SP3 need an update http://rapidshare.com/files/8502054...cture_High_Definition_Audio_AddOn_1.0.7z.html
Thanks for all of you, finaly I have a sound -
Hmm, thats interesting because (Deviation from topic I know, but its related to the problem) I tried twice to install SP3 on my desktop and afterwards I couldn't boot into windows. I wonder if I need this update to get it to work. Good to hear you solved your problem anyway.

No problem mujjuman, I'm here to help!
Grand Admiral -
hi again guys!
I'm finally using XP SP2 on my dv6599ew - works fine, much faster than vista, I had no problems with drivers or anything. The only thing I noticed is that build in microphones (next to the webcam) don't work.. any ideas how to activate them?
BIG THX for all the previous help and generally for the great topic -
nope, sorry. the microphones are a known problem and havent been solved yet. the microphone jack doesnt work either.
-
Mujjuman, does that microphone issue affect all dv65** notebooks? That might be why my mobile phone doesn't work when I tie its input/output to my notebook with bluetooth. I was bored lol. I can hear it on the speakers but the microphone doesn't work.
Grand Admiral -
Anyone with an AMD chipset be warned that you may need to download a utility to deactivate the intel power management driver before you install XP SP3 otherwise it will stop your computer booting normally. Its known to especially happen on HP systems. The address for the tool I used is http://msinfluentials.com/blogs/jes...ed-computer-boot-after-installing-xp-sp3.aspx.
Grand Admiral -
Nice work putting the instructions together. This process appears to work well for creating the XP bootable CD however once the process initiates my system freezes at "Windows Setup" Setup is starting Windows. Any ideas?
-
Great thread! The front page was a good reference to install Windows XP on my DV2500t.
I want to upload the drivers that I have personally found, but I am not quite sure where to do so. I've only used a few of the drivers that's uploaded on the front page.
Here are some of the components that required drivers for my DV2500t, pm me if you guys need the drivers.
- NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS
- Ricoh Card (memory stick) Controller
- Conexant HD Audio & Modem
- Marvell Yukon Ethernet Controller
- Intel Wireless Wifi 4965AGN
- HP Quicklaunch
- Bluetooth
- Chipset
Also, just want to mention that I tripled booted my laptop: Vista, XP, and Ubuntu (linux). Used EasyBCD to do it. If anyone needs some help, pm on the matter as well.
Thanks to all that made the frontpage! -
Hi,
I have DV6448se laptop, I try to install windows XP, but it keep reboot and install windows XP from the CD. It won't boot from the C drive, Would someone please tell me what to do?
I also try to install fresh windows vista (i already format my C drive and I don't have the recovery disk), but it cannot find the hard drive, anyone please tell me where i can get the driver for my 160GB sata hard drive.
Regards -
hello, may be i ask something that someone explain in other pags but my english is not good and is a bit hard to me read all prev pags...
i have a dv2500 series and i want to instal windows XP, my question is if i can do this without lossing the remote control and the buttons of quickplay in the keyboard, there exist drivers for this in windows XP?
may be is a stupid question, but i dont understand to much of computers, so want to be shure what i read...
the group of drivers for my computer is in the first page?
thanks a lot for reading -
Sr.Fede, yes you can. I have a dv6519tx and my remote and quicklaunch buttons (except for HP Quickplay and the DVD button) work fine. They're only really of use in Windows Media Player (thats my experience anyway) because while the button driver works in XP the control panel does not so you can't configure the buttons to react to the different shortcuts of other media players.

I really dislike Windows Vista and would love to get Windows XP SP2 fully working on my laptop as Vista is just too BLOATED and flat out ruins a decent pc performance experience cuz of all the stuff its loaded with not to mention its not exactly even compatible with almost everything thats out there, Can you PLEASE help me by posting or emailing me a step by step tutorial if theres any hope for the model i have which i listed below? Yes i realize it is an AMD CPU but i posted my question in the link for the AMD version only recieved no reply so far and granted i only recently posted it but im Sick of Vista and would really love to finally get Windows XP SP2 working which is the OS I prefer, enjoy and have always used -
Please help me downgrade to XP SP2..
Also please note that i bought the laptop as is but lucked out as it was in near spanking mint condition inside and out as i opened it and re-closed it just to make sure and its truly in mint shape and yes everything is fully functional only it came with everything pre-installed so i've no actual software of any kind for it but am willing to download and get whatever using my home desktop in order to do so if it can successfully downgrade which seems more like an upgrade at this point or in general as Windows XP SP2 in my book is a far better OS in terms of over-all stability, speed and user experience.

Hello mujjuman, i recently installed xp on my system properly, thanks to your guide. i have nvidia 169.04 drivers currently installed which i got from laptopvideo2go.com. i have purchased age of conan recently, but when i run it, it says its not compatible with 169.04 but with 169.21. where do i get this driver? its not there on laptopvideo2go.com , please help, thanks
-
sorry but youre gonna have to wait until the folks at laptopvideo2go.com come out with a hacked driver.

Uploaded the DV2500T drivers I found onto MegaUpload. Two of the drivers however were installed through windows update, as indicated by the text files inside.
They have worked on my DV2500T, but I will not be responsible for any problems caused by these drivers!
Anyhow, download it, and use the driver installation order that was listed on the front page.
Here's the megaUpload link: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=V0S4F7TH .

damn damn damn... so it's me again ;] yeah I finally installed XP on my HP pavilion dv6599ew, all drivers from the pack works perfectly (i hope). BUT unfortunately I encountered some problems... First: my TSSTcorp TS-L632M cd/dvd recorder does NOT record cds/dvds AT ALL. I tried Nero 6 and ImgBurn, everything is ok and there is even a notification Hooray recording finished successfully! Yeah, right... None of my computers 2 PC 2 laptops (mine included) can read that cds/dvds... I can hear drive is working but nothing happens and when I try to open cd in "my computer" there is "no response" until I open the drive and take out the cd... Don't know how I managed to record ONE working dvd with movies few weeks ago (TDK DVD-R 1-16x single side). But f.e. today when I tried to record some pics on blank cd the effect was frustrating again. And now the second problem with my drive! It doesn't read DVD+R DL that I recorded when I was still in Vista (using Roxio). I read on some forum it is because ASPI so I run Nero Info Tool and there is: "system ASPI not installed", "Nero ASPI installed and working properly". What can I say... ****! and please help! Thanx a lot in advance. Greetings!
PS is there a search option on this forum? -
just installed xp on my dv2699ea laptop.. was running ubuntu for the last year, but some small niggles made me go back to microsoft. (cest la vie!).. only thing is - is there a way of installing quickplay direct now that i have xp on? anywhere i can download the older xp version of it?
also, i know this is a long shot but..... any way of installing vista's version of media center onto xp? and is there a version of screenlets (ubuntu program) avail for windows - mainly showing temp, etc as these laptops run fekin hot!!!
muchos! -
rico2k_uk, you cannot install quickplay onto XP. Just doesn't work in current experience, but I know there are a lot of people who wish it wasn't that way. And you most certainly cannot install media center from Vista into XP. If you were gonna try installing any Vista feature to XP it would have be DirectX 10! If you want Media Center on XP, get XP Media Center Edition.
On a brighter note, if you want to monitor hardware temps the very easy and effective way get a program called HWMonitor. Its excellent, requires no configuration on installation, just download and run the EXE.
Grand Admiral -
villu666, first of all, have you updated the drive's firmware? Check the Vista download section if theres no update in the XP section, it shouldn't make any difference. I just had a quick look for ASPI and found this driver http://www.adaptec.com/en-US/speed/software_pc/aspi/aspi_471a2_exe.htm. Give it a shot, thats all I can recommend other than that I wouldn't have a clue, I've never had any problems with burning except on my mother's old bomb computer.
The Forum used to have a search... Can't see the link and the last few times I tried to use it it wouldn't work. Maybe a moderator would know whats happened to it.
EDIT: The vBulletin search feature has been disabled due to the amount of data it has to process for a forum this size. As a web designer myself I can certainly see the issue. They're going to use google as the search provider but thats still being tested and is only available to senior members at the moment.

i had an older computer who's CDRW drive stopped recording, and then eventually stopped reading and i had to just buy another one.
i tried different drivers, firmware, etc it didnt work.
yeah i have a temp monitoring prog on my laptop too.... mine runs HOT

thanks GrandAdmiral!! -
Hi,
Was the problem with the low microphone sensitivity after XP installation on dv9500t ever solved? I had the same problem when my dv9500t had vista and I got a solution in this thread:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=162243&page=2
1. Right click on the Realtec speaker icon in the system tray
2. Select "Sound Manager"
3. In the upper righthand corner select "Device Advanced Settings"...not super obvious.
4. Select the second radio button "Separate all input jacks...."
But now after I installed XP on my dv9500t I got the same problem again but this time the Realtek sound manager does n ot have the option of "Device Advanced Settings" at all.
Any idea on how this can be solved? -
i have hp pavilion dv 6609eo

I read that this guide works for the dv6830us - thats yet another intel based laptop - anyone get this working on any of the AMD based laptops?? I need to know if the dv6870us will work with this...
I noticed all the drivers are INTEL... ugh -
there is an Amd thread
-
Thanks a lot but will these drivers work with dv6560 ee
and if u could plz upload the drivers on zshare
thank u -
I can't see anything in the specifications for your model to suggest these wouldn't work, but just double check you have the necessary hardware as you install the drivers (certain details aren't specified on the HP website which makes it difficult to judge from here). Make a screenshots of your vista device manager fully expanded before formatting in case you need to search for additional drivers. For components like the chipset, wireless and soundcard I recommend going to Intel and your sound card manufacturer's websites and downloading the latest driver in case the driver pack version has been superseded. If you have any problems/comments post back here.
You'll probably have to wait for mujjuman to respond on uploading the driver pack elsewhere.

P.S. Yes, the Q and DVD buttons on the expresscard HP remote work too.Attached Files:

thats great but usually when we mean quickplay, we mean quickplay directplay.
personally i dont think quickplay is that great of a player anyway. -

would this work for a laptop HP pavilion dv9743cl? that's the one I have and I am not really sure if I should try installing XP... I don't like Vista at all, always closing my oblivion game saying that it stopped working, so I want to know if it works or not... thanks in advance

Hello,
This post is very off-topic, but I don't want to create a whole new thread on this subject.
I would like to upgrade the memory of my dv6515eo from 2GB of system ram to 4GB.
All help is appreciated!

I've actually got a weird situation on my hands.
Rumor had it that XP with Service Pack 3 was worlds better than Vista SP1, so I switched to XP SP3! That was the easy part. With nLite, my initial boot was 19 processes and less than 100mb of ram consumed
Now for the weird part; even undervolting with RMClock, my CPU fan seems to be running all the time, and my CPU temps are easily three or four degrees higher than they were in Vista. What's worse - my battery life is dropping extremely fast too.
If I'm running only 19 processes and <100mb of stuff WITH my processor speed locked at 800mhz via RMClock, how is it my CPU Fan, Temperatures, and Battery life are worse than that of Vista's? D:
