Solved itFound an updated driver for Reaktek HD Audio in HPs driver section!
-
-
oh haha yeah you said HDD doesnt stop spinning.
its because of the new BIOS. did you update your BIOS?
a new version of the BIOS keeps the fan on all the time to help prevent GPU failure.
my fan is always on too now... because hp replaced my mobo and it has newest BIOS.
unfortunately, i dont have an HDMI cable so i cannot test this....
i remember this issue a while back.... someone must have solved it but i dont remember how. sorry. its somewhere in this thread. i know it has like 50 pages or something so my apologies again for not saving it in the OP
hey dude how have you been? i remember you from a while back
try re-slipstreaming again. the file is not corrupt like you said in your post, but maybe it was slipstreamed wrong.
what else did you add to the XP CD?
that happens to me too if i download too much using megaupload. just wait a couple hours (maybe more, maybe even 24 hours) and your bandwidth limit will be reset.
-
oh sweet! was it in XP section or Vista section?
can you please point to the driver? thanks (link) -
Windows XP... got all drivers from here -> http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=228&lc=en&dlc=da&cc=dk&product=3651452&lang=da
(the ones that I could not find here I took from the DrivePack 1.10)
Most of the drivers found in the link pasted above is all 2008 version - thats nice
Apparently the "Compaq Presario V6700TX CTO Notebook PC" is much like the HP dv6500 series - all the drivers work! -
nice job finding those drives! seems like hp does support XP on their laptops that were meant for Vista (sorta... kinda) lol
-
Hi. Anyne any thought on this? Thanxs
-
Thanxs Sir "mujjuman"!!!
I didn't see your reply. I used nlite Seeeveral times with no problems. The only difference is that at the end of the process lite says .."If you want to add additional files, copy them now into the working directory.". And so I did. I copied files and the 'grate driver pack' and some other drivers and burnt the DVD. Im suspecting this happens with some WIN xp cds. The first one I did, with no probelm was a spansih version. Now im trying with an english version, buut did the process as always.
Thanxs a gain.
PS: before writing , i did 5 dvds! I will try again, just making a cd with just windows + sata drv.

pff, I'll take GPU failure instead of noise thank you
I did a bit of research and I found out about the nVidia GPU failures. So HP's solution to this is a BIOS update which turns up the fan? Man, this really annoys me as my laptop model isn't even eligible for free repair if something happens, though I've a general warranty. And here I was thinking I was getting a better laptop when it has dedicated graphics. Do you know if I can downgrade to an earlier BIOS to get rid of the noise? If I can, which BIOS version should I be looking for? -
no problem man.
yeah i tried burning a DVD too and i had problems. so i just did CD with XP and SATA
alot of people had weird problems with XP DVDs
hopefully it works...
GPU failure sucks
i wasnt eligible for free repair either
i payed over $300 for it... i forgot how much though
the whole time i was SO scared to send my laptop in because of the horror stories.... but they took great care of my laptop and sent it quickly. i just didnt get updates via email/phone like i asked but otherwise, great job on their part for replacing mobo
why they need to replace ENTIRE mobo for GPU failure? because GPU is soldered on as far as i know.
yeah you can go to earlier BIOS to get rid of noise.... i tried looking for it on the hp website and its not there though
-
actually, i figured out how to use the hp website haha
in the BIOS section under Vista for your laptop model, click on "Version" link toward the right... it wll show you all BIOS versions -
thanks. i successfully downgraded my laptop OS from vista to XP.
is there a way to make hp quickplay work for xp? thanks -
thats good news. im glad the drivers/guide worked for you.
unfortunately, quickplay direct doesnt work for XP in any of the dv6500/dv9500/dv2500 series.
it is because of the SATA hard drive -
Hello Mujjuman,
Firstly, thanks a ton! I was able to get rid of the Space and time hogging Vista OS on my DV6575US laptop. It is successfully running Windows XP Professional SP2 with all the drivers installed. Really appreciate your guide.
Have a query though: If I slipstream SATA into Windows XP with *SP3* and install the drivers, will they work? I read that Realtek audio drivers may have some issues with SP3 slipstreaming. Can you tell me if SP3 slipstreaming has been tested?
Thanks in advance,
Kiran -
i have not personally tested XP SP3 and slipstreaming SATA drivers.
others may have done so, but i actually never paid attention to it, partly because i only supported SP2 at the time.
theoretically, it should work.
if the driver for sound doesnt work in SP3, try an updated driver from here.
http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads...=24&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false
Choose the executable for Windows XP/2003 (should be a file called WDM_R206.exe)
speaking of which, i should probably update the driverpack.
however, i will hold back on it because *most* people just update drivers on their own or use Windows Updates for it.
if there is enough demand then i will.
oh yeah another note...
slipstreaming any other driver besides the SATA driver is not supported. i tried it and it didnt work, and gave me BSODs or some other error during installation.
trust me, slipstreaming ALL the drivers would be SO much more easier, so if it worked i would have said so.
-------
in other "news"
last night i reformatted and installed XP SP2 using the original CD i created from this guide and used all the drivers and followed the guide exactly and it worked perfectly. no hiccups.
i did this partly because it was time for me to reinstall
and also because i also wanted to retest my method to see if i can find mistakes and/or make it better.
the only thing i found was that the drivers are a bit old. BUT they still work 100% perfectly fine (the way i use them atleast, havent tried HDMI for example)
in that case, theres no NEED to update drivers unless the new driver really opens something up or fixes a bug that people notice or adds a new feature.
none of those apply to me so therefore no update (unless people really want one)
i hope everyone understands
-
Thanks for that! But do you think rolling back the BIOS is advisable? Is GPU failure really that likely without the fan on all the time? Am I set if I don't do a lot of graphics intensive stuff?
edit: Well I went ahead and rolled back to the F.33A version BIOS. The fan is still constantly spinning but always at the low speed. No more ridiculous loud noises. yay!
OMG, it just stopped as I'm typing this! I like this noiselessness
. Oh, it only stopped for like 5 seconds...
-
Hello Mujjuman,
I experimented with Windows XP SP3 Viena edition. Fortunately, did not have to do anything extra. The same set of drivers in the driverpack 1.10 worked perfectly! Thanks a lot.
Only problem to solve now is of the fan - switch on only if necessary. Any tried and tested methods you can suggest?
Regards,
Kiran -
haha loved the last part.
yeah i didnt do graphics intensive stuff either...
i dont think it is proven that the GPU failure is more likely to happen without the fan on all the time. but one of the reasons why the GPU fails is because of heat... and the fan on all the time would keep temperatures really low.
i remember that my GPU used to idle at around 73*C and would jump up to 99*C while playing games (only did that last year for about 1 month, GPU failed not long ago)
i dont have that software installed right now (everest) so i cant prove my laptop has been cooler temperature wise without actual numbers
but certainly to the touch it feels cooler.
thats great news!
about the fan.... nothing that i would suggest
but there are ways that have been tried and tested to work. such as downgrading BIOS
if my GPU did not fail, i would be all for it -
I am somewhat new to this and have read many posts. I've noticed that the outline for installing XP is mainly for dv9000t. I hav a dv9535nr dual hard drives. My specs are different. My question is. Will this process and driver pack work on my laptop? Thanks and great work!!
-
no this guide is made mainly for the dv9500t series... which is what you have (unless you have AMD CPU)
this process and the drivers will work for you unless you have the AMD CPU -
Thanks for relating your experiences! Just saying once more you have my appreciation for monitoring this thread and answering our questions
-
No I don't have an AMD CPU. This is great news. I have another question. Do I slipstream the entire driver package into the new xp instalation or do I unzip all the zip folders and integrate them separately. Also is there any one post that outlines all the steps without reading through hundreds.
Thanks again and great job -
No, only slipstream the SATA driver found in the SATA folder.
the first post in this thread has all the steps -
Ok went to the first post of this thread and followed the instructions to burn the CD. Now I'm trying to get up the nerve to try it. What I want to do is dual boot with vista staying on one hard drive and installing XP on the other. Any final advice before I commit? Wish me luck.
-
actually i never did dual boot vista + xp on this laptop before but alot of people who read thsi thread have....
i want to try it soon actually
when you isntall XP on the second hard drive, the Vista installation is rendered useless. so somehow you haveto "rebuild" the boot record or whatever its called (i cant remeber and its 3:30AM Eastern) in order to make both the Vista and the XP usable. -
mujjuman
9. Install the UAA Driver"
On HP business supprot forum some say this must be first or trouble..could be a place to look for audio prpbs -
yes you must install the UAA driver before installing the actual Audio driver
-
Hello. I bought myself a dv9000 with Vista preinstalled ... Now, i`ve installed x64 XP (can say there`s a bigger difference) and I`m trying to get all the drivers I need. Can anyone tell where I can find them all working for x64 XP ???? The thing is that i`ve installed Assassins`s Creed and during the game on the fight scenes, the game freezes (like he`s loading or something), and I have to wait several secs. Otherwise everything is fine. Thanks a lot !!!!
-
i was going to find 64bit drivers but since i dont have WinXPx64 and i cant test them, i never got to it.....
sorry
do u have intel CPU or AMD cpu
im assuming intel -
oh yeah, can u please check the bottom of ur laptop and give me exact model number? it should say either "Product: HP Pavilion dv9000" or "Product: HP Pavilion dv9500"
there is a big difference between the two and i wanted to make sure... even if you have dv9500, the screen says "dv9000" so its important to check the bottom.
also, is it AMD cpu or intel cpu?
what drivers did u find so far, if any? -
Well, mujjuman, 1st i have to thank you man for the x86 version of drivers. well i have them all, but the thing is that i`m not sure for the video card, because it`s not working as well as hoped. as i said earlier, assasin`s creed works perfectly, but at some point, beats me why, freezes and after 3 secs i can play again. Anyway if you need these drivers i have ... let me know. there must be others who want them. I contacted hp and they gave them to me, even so some of them didn`t work. i have a dv9500 (9695el) and a intel processor. thanks again !
-
Hello all!!! I solved a BIG problem and I wanna share this with you, so you save some time with this: A quote of myself:
This is what happens: When you use NLite, in the last screen it says: "If you want to add additional files copy them into the working directory". I assume that the working directory is where the win disc copy u r working on. I did. Nlite gave no errors. I burned the DVD with the additional files. No matter what, I had the "the iastor.sys file is corrupted" error on the installation. I solved like this:
I just burned a CD (NOT DVD!!) with just XP and the slipstreamed SATA. That's it. No more extra files. And it worked. Do nos ask me why. Just works. It seems to be a bug in NLite, depending on what u add to the working directory.

Danny Bullo
As always: Mujjman and HAckez....the best! -
First Posting - I've got a HP Pavilion dv5-1160us (Intel) and want to downgrade to XP. Haven't had any luck in finding drivers. Anyone know if this driver pack will work?
-
No, but check out this thread instead...

thank you miner
-
sorry what? do you have a question?
-
Hi everybody!
Just to let you guys know that I did all the same procedures to ran Windows XP on a HP Pavilion dv2500 and everything ran well.
Thanks mujjuman!

I found something and I´d like to share with you guys...
After having some problems on connecting the wireless, I´ve noticed that the front led only would go to blue sometimes and the front switch didn´t have any effect when Windows XP was running. So I noticed that I must turn on the wireless only during the start of Windows, on the "Welcome" screen. After that, when the software Intel Pro Set/Wireless is running, the switch has no effect. Does anybody have this problem? -
No. probably because your hardware is slightly different because its from Brazil.
The hardware has slight variations from one country to the next.
Glad the rest worked out for you though -
I´ve talked to HP support and they sent me a new driver that corrected the problem. Now it´s running good. The problem was on the driver.
Thanks again Mujjuman... these threads are very important for us!
Cezar. -
cool, glad it worked out
-

It wasnt really me, all the thanks go to those who made the dv5 guide.
But I try to help out in the best way I can -
Heavily Medicated Notebook Enthusiast
I own a dv9930us and I was looking to downgrade to XP.
I'm sorry for the redundant post regarding information on downgrading Vista to Xp, and I am sure this has been covered already but there is quite a lot of information regarding downgrading to XP scattered about and it's quite overwhelming. I was wondering if there was a specific guide to follow for downgrading my Vista to XP.
As well I was wondering it matters which version of XP you use.I don't fully understand the difference between 32 and 64 bit but people have mentioned using either before and I was wondering what the difference was. I have an old old old CD of XP from about 4 years ago and I am not sure what it entails.
Thanks.
