Hey man no problem, I understand how it is to go through 100+ pages of info to get an answer and so I am open to all questions.
You have a dv9930us which falls under the dv9700 category so this guide applies to you. After doing a quick search for "dv9930us" I found that it has an intel processor, which is what this guide is written for.
One thing you should do is to read "therulebookman" post, which I quoted in the original post. His post goes into a detail about installing XP on a dv6700t (also applies to dv9700t)
Otherwise, you can read the rest of the guide for step-by-step info.
The major differences between XP 32bit and 64bit that apply to most of us is that 64bit will allow the use of all 4GB of RAM. 32bit will only let you use 2.8GB-3.5GB
XP 32bit drivers are more easily found online, but XP 64bit drivers are not. There is alot of hardware out there for which 64bit drivers have not been written. In order to get more support for your hardware using an outdated OS (sadly, XP is a bit outdated now) you will have to use the 32bit version.
I was going to upload 64bit drivers but I couldnt find all of them and I do not remember which ones I didnt find. That, and also I couldnt test those drivers on my computer since I dont have a 64bit version of XP.
The drivers that are listed in this guide are all 32bit.
If you really want, I can help you find 64bit drivers but I cant guarantee that it will work for you nor can I guarantee that I can find all of them.

Hello !
First, excuse my long post.
I posted long time ago about a HP DV9580EG, which works just perfect with this pack. Now I managed to buy a HP DV9340EA, but there are some small differences between the components. I have some trouble installing the drivers for Windows XP. I will post some information about them, maybe they will help:
1) I tried to include the SATA drivers from the package from this topic on the XP bootable CD with nLite, but it didn't work. It didn't found any hard disk when I attempted to install. I think this driver from the topic doesn't include SATA drivers for Intel ICH7, which is the chipset of my notebook. Then, I took a look into BIOS and I disabled SATA Native Support and finally managed to start the installation.
2) Following the guide from this topic, I installed drivers. First, I installed Intel Chipset drivers and this one worked successfully. It has even installed the SATA drivers for ICH7, but when I restarted and reactivated SATA Native Support in BIOS, blue screen came on my monitor when booting. Next, I downloaded the SATA floppy disk drivers from Intel for ICH7 and i updated my SATA Drivers using Device Manager. Finally, I could normally boot with native support enabled.
3) Then, I tried installing Intel Matrix Drivers with no luck. It said it didn't find suitable hardware for this. I couldn't find any driver to work for this on the Intel Download Center. I guess the problem is I only have one hard drive and I need two for RAID.
4) Tried installing Nvidia Graphics driver, but setup said no device. I took a look into the .inf and realised there is no nVIDIA Geforce Go 7600, so I added the line for this card from another .inf. Then, it was finally OK. HDMI and Games are running fine.
5) When attempting to install Realtek Ethernet Drivers, it didn't update my driver, so i realised it's a different card. I googled my VEN and DEV, and got to know I have an Intel PRO 1000 PL ethernet card. Managed to make it work using Intel PRO 1000 PT Drivers from Intel website.
6) Succesfully installed UAA Drivers. Then, I found out my laptop has a Conexant HD Audio device instead of Realtek. It worked like a charm with a driver found on the internet, but I was pissed off that this card doesn't have any application for adjusting the sound like Realtek has. The only problem is I don't have an equalizer and the sound quality is not too good. Maybe someone can help here with a modified driver. Also, googled for modem drivers and succesfully installed them (I have HDAudio Soft Data Fax Modem with SmartCP).
7) Synaptics, Bluetooth, Quicklaunch Buttons and Ricoh Card Reader installed with no problems at all using the drivers from this topic.
8) One last problem is the Webcam. It works OK, but it doesn't have that Backlight Compensation which the dv9500 series has. It's very dark at low light. I even tried to set it up using the Webcam Application from the drivers in the package, but adjusting Backlight Compensation doesn't change anything.
That's all for now. Maybe someone already solved these problems or maybe one can give me some links to drivers or any ideas.
Thanks in advance! -
You have a dv9340EA, which falls under the dv9000t category.
1. Yes you are correct, the SATA drivers are different between the two laptops and in order to install XP you need to disable Native SATA Support (unless you slimstreamed ICH7M)
You can go on hp's website and download the SATA drivers.
2) Actually, you shouldnt use some (nor any) of the drivers included in this pack since they are exclusively for the dv9500t or dv6500t series laptops. All of dv9000t drivers that work for Windows XP can be found on hp's website. hp supports Windows XP on the dv9000 because half the dv9000s were shipped with XP.
3. The problem is not RAID, but the computer is correct. The driver is written for different hardware.
4. Tried installing Nvidia Graphics driver, but setup said no device. I took a look into the .inf and realised there is no nVIDIA Geforce Go 7600, so I added the line for this card from another .inf. Then, it was finally OK. HDMI and Games are running fine.
That's pretty cool man you basically hacked the nVidia drivers
5. ...
6. Yeah Realtek is good with their equalizers the sound settings.
7. Synaptics, Bluetooth, Quicklaunch Buttons and Ricoh Card Reader installed with no problems at all using the drivers from this topic.
I guess these hardware are same between these two laptops.
8. Hmm, there is a webcam thread in this forum, it might be helpful for you. Personally it wasnt helpful for me, but it seems to have helped a big group of people. You should also try the webcam drivers from the dv9000 section on the hp website.
hp website:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...en&cc=us&dlc=en&lang=en&cc=us&submit=Go%20%BB
Click on Windows XP
[EDIT]
Realized they dont have drivers for your specific model (which is dumb) so try this link instead:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=228&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=3224058
Click on Windows XP
In there they have ICH7M drivers as well as wireless, LAN, and webcam.
Notice that there are two different drivers for wireless (intel and Broadcom) just figure you which one you have.
I hope this helps.
Btw no need to excuse for long posts (I like them) -
I have a copy of windows XP home edition that I lost the key for. I want to slipstream it with sp2 and install it onto my DV6700 laptop. My question is, What do I tell customer service when I call to register it?
Thanks -
I'm sorry but you are going to have to buy another key... which I'm sure you cannot do anymore since XP is out of retail support.
If you still have that copy of XP installed on a computer, you could use a Product Key Finder and use it to extract the key that came with the disk and write it down for use.
Alot of times what I do is that I write my key on the actual disk, just incase I lose the case on which the key is printed. -
What if I have an XP Pro cd with key that has been registered before to another computer?
-
I just finished installing XP on my DV9700T with 8400 GS 256 MB..
First i used a XP redid called : XP Sweet 5.1 with SATA support already in it.
Here's the step :
1. Created a 15 GIG partition with Computer Management within Vista
2. Made sure i Had the Vista Recovery CD -> with System Repair
3. Rebooted and installed XP on the 15 gig partition
4. Rebooted with Vista Recovery CD and launch the System repair
5. Repaired the Startup System
6. Booted in Vista fine
7. Copied ( ntldr , ntdetect and boot.ini ) to my XP drive
8 . Installed EasyBCD and Created a New entry for XP
9 . Rebooted and tested both OS
10. Everything work likes a charm , i did use the drivers package from this site for some stuff.
Enjoy !
Thanks -
I would dual boot too but I have 160GB (149GB formatted ftl) so I didnt. -

but i has one problem in the device manager shows me some driver that uninstalled it called
hp integrated Module
from where i can get this driver?
thnx -
Good job on installing XP successfully.
Right-click "hp integrated module" and click on "update driver"
That should work. -
Can anyone explain me the bit that installing XP will ruin the recovery partition? Why's that so?
I mean, I would install it on a different HD than the one that the recovery partition is on, so why would that happen?
Just so you know, I have a HP Pavillion dv9700 with two 120 GB HDs, one of which has Vista installed (drive C) and the recovery partition (drive E) and the other who is a files HD (drive D) free for whatever I want to do with it (the one I'd install XP on). -
Drive #1 is split into two partitions: one for Windows Vista and one for Recovery.
If on drive #1 you erase Vista and put XP, leaving the Recovery part untouched, it will be rendered useless. This is because those two partitions are somehow linked. I'm thinking because the Windows partition has some files that allow the recovery part of the Recovery partition to work
I'm not sure what would happen if you used two different physical hard drives, to be honest. I havent tried that myself because I have only one hard drive.
My guess is that it should still work since you are not erasing the Vista partition, you would only "fix" the bootloader so that it can "see" that XP is installed as well so you can boot from it. However, you can burn that partition off to DVD(s) if hp did not provide you with them (which I highly recommend). -
Oh, I didn't know you only had a single HD, that's why I asked. Sincerely, I can't see how installing XP on a totally different physical drive could interfere with the first HD and its recovery partition
Anyway, yes, I will make those backup DVDs before doing anything. Thanks for the guide and for the help! -
No problem man, let us know how it goes..
-
The XP installation went smoothly. And it came in extremely handy as before that I wanted to do a system recovery on my HP laptop (something I had already done before), and somewhy it ended up ruining my system. I couldn't boot on vista anymore and the online chat couldn't help me as we went through all the tests and the only thing left to do was either buy new discs from hp or send it to their labs, but both options are only available for us adresses, and as i live in Brazil I couldn't do either.
So now I'm hapilly using XP on my notebook. I ended up deleting my recovery partition aswell since I couldn't do anything with it. -
One thing I haven't been able to find out is how to use the fingerprint reader with XP. Is it possible?
-
I havent tried it, because I dont have fingerprint reader on my laptop... sorry. I dont remember if anyone got it to work either.
-
I found this thread for you:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=132526
It may apply to you -
Thx Man
-
Thanks there mate, but not long after I typed that message I was able to make it work with a different program than the original Digital Persona one
Thanks anyway! -
Thanks so much for this. After much headache trying to get Vista off my laptop on my own, this was a blessing. It did require a little modification so I could get it to work on my 64 bit version of XP, but it really helped point me in the right direction.
-
Nice, is everything working in 64bit XP? What drivers did you use from this pack and which ones did you download separately and where did you get them from?
-
I only needed 2 new drivers. One was the graphics driver, it tends to complain and close out during installation if you use the 32 bit version instead of the 64 bit. The other was the sata drivers. The graphics driver was the more annoying out of the two, but if you wish, I will PM both of them to you so you can add it to the guide.

I just blew away a dv2700, installed XP Pro with a SS disk. Drivers are in okay, no device manager issues. However...... ;-)
The audio jacks don't mute onboard speakers.
I don't think the quick launch buttons are working either, volume clicks with going up or down, mute works the rest don't do anything.
I have no indicator that the HMDI audio drivers are installed, the way it showed under Vista in device manager.
Everything else is working as far as I can tell. I'm on the laptop now actually.
Anyone have a fix for the audio jacks? That's actually the most annoying problem. -
Yeah I can see how the speakers not muting would be annoying......
I actually forgot what soundcard the dv2700 has... conexant? Maybe you installed Realtek drivers.
If not, then the most updated drivers should fix it.. -

Is it possible to install _Windows XP on a v6305nr laptop?

I'm just preparing to downgrade my laptop(which is on its way) to XP, its a HP Pavilion dv9930us. I already saw the post saying that the dv9700 section of the tutorial should work. What I want to know is if there is anyway to still use the tv tuner card that comes with the laptop or do I need to think about dual booting instead?
-
Hey guys...does anyone know if we can remap the useless "quickplay" and "dvd" buttons to make them launch a program of our choice? Thx!
-
Actually, no one has figured that out yet... sorry.
-

I tried to install the drivers in the file provided for dv6000 - dv9000 users. (In de guide referred to by therulebookman). But the videocard driver didnt work.
Already tried:
* laptop2video : couldn't get any of the 'best suited' driverversion to work with my games.
*DNA-drivers: found on www.guru3d.com
*Omega drivers
*Nvidia drivers (Hardware couldn't be found error)
*Updating 'VGA-video card with windows'
This resulted in our running windows in a weired color, not be able to run games, running games slowly.
System: dv9700
T9300 Intel Centrino Duo Core
Windows XP Sp3
Geforce 8600M GS
Should I use the driver from 1.10 driver pack? Or is it better to go back to vista and use the driver provided by HP (and thus removing XP again). -
What games are you trying to play? I dont think the XP drivers supports the newest games. Sad to say, but XP IS getting dated.
Go ahead and try out the driver in the 1.10 driver pack. Just know that the driver is quite dated as well, but it provides better support and is alot more stable in my experience.
its called the nv_gfgo -
The weired thing is that everything runs fine with one of the latest drivers of Video2Laptop, except EVERY game. (Even really old one like worms 4D)
I tried the driver, but it didn't work.
Now it's ok, I can always drop back to windows vista (have a copy and a serial)
-witch BTW you can use 5 times can you?, gonna have to make a back up of that then-
The strange thing it worked fine untill after 2 days being away (and storing my laptop in my locked closeth) the screen acted weired. When opening and closing programs their edges left a row of pixels on my screen. So I wanted to install a new video cart driver... Then all the misery started.
I just liked the more non-sluggish windows xp (don't know vista enough to tweak it to my taste) but maybe it's time to move on. -
Yeah XP seems so much quicker.
If your screen is showing crazy pixels liek that, maybe your video card is going bad.... how old is your laptop? It's a well documented problem. I had it too and got it replaced by paying out of my own pocket. -
Well I bought it in March 2007. (So I think it's between 1.5 and 2 years old).
I'll keep you informed, if Vista doesn't solve the problem, I'll try to ask warranty service. -
Hi there mujjuman (and all your contributors),
Been using your guide for about 2 years on my DV9500t. Works perfectly everytime...so thanks.
Just bought my brother an HP DV6-1010EA (bought in the UK)...any idea which guide for rolling back to XP would apply to this laptop? I'm guessing the DV6000 guide?
Cheers for all your help over the years. -
