I have a HP Pavilion dv9510eo Notebook PC.
My laptop has the AMD Turion64 processor and when I check HP's website (vista) it seems to be like on the desktop side of things, a network card from nvidia as well.
I did try downloading the DriverPack_1.01_DVX500Series.zip and extracted the Driver Pack For The DV95XX Series\Necessary Drivers\Nvidia Forceware Mobile 163.71.zip but with no success. I still have a network device with a ? infront of it in the device manager.
I've tried every single network driver suggested in both these threads on this site but nothing seems to work. I even e-mailed HP, but they seem to be unable to help as well. Last time i emailed they suggested i should try Windows Update, ehhhhhh How?! No network drivers - No Windows update, duh!
They didn't know I had a 3G-wireless card laying around though. Plugged it in and got online but windows update does not have any drivers for my NIC either. So i'm placing my faith in your competent hands
Anyone got an idea what nic i got?
Here is a link to HP for my very model.

hi guys.....can I use the Sata driver provided in the first page to slipstream for XP PRO x64??? thanks in advance

I am going crazy. I successfully followed the guide and now have windows xp, but the sound driver refuses to work. I have a dv6500t with realtek hd audio. so first i installed uaa, reset my laptop and tried to install the drivers. It looks like it is successful because no error pops up and installation goes to completeion, but there is still no sound device!
Any help is appreciated. -
got basically the same problem as noggan, I use a DV9645eo, not even listed on HPs site, maybe because its a scandinavian version or something. mine also has the amd turion chipset
I think my network NIC is a Broadcom, but Im not sure... Ive downloaded and tried some of their drivers, but with no luck.
if anyone have any ideas of which drivers that might work, Id be grateful, and report back here with my results instantly.
btw, great walktrough mujjuman and hackez, u should have recieved $$$$$$ from hp for this :]
cheers -
Hi guys,
First off, thanks to hack and Muji for the FAQ on installing windows XP on a vista machine. It helped me get things going on my HP computer. However, I have encountered a couple of problems which I hope someone else encountered that can help me.
I have an HP 9500t
2 hard drives
2.0Gz
2gig ram
8600 GM or GS I forget Nvidia
Here are the problems: Please note that I downloaded and installed the drivers from the Muji's service pak and I installed them in the order listed within the folder.
1) my computer does not recognize any USB device. I went to device manager and they USB Root hubs all have yellow question marks
2) I have no sound whatsoever. I looked under device manager and there are no yellow question marks listed. Yet, I have no sound. I tried goiong under the sound control panel, but when I pull it up, everything is grayed out.
Pls help!!!
THanks,
B -
Hi, about the usb not working... i had the same problem and resolved it by going into device manager and deleting all the usb root devices that had yellow things on them. then reboot and xp will reinstall the correct ones. make sure then that u install the latest chipset drivers because i think the old ones were the culprit. about the sound, i am still trying to fix that myself... hope this helps
-
Thanks for the USB advice. I did something different, but it works now, both sound and usb. Here is what I did:
Take a look at your device manager. Make sure that there are no yellow question marks present. When I opened my Device manager, the USB category was expanded automatically and thus i could see the yellow question marks. BUT, there was another yellow question mark, I believe it was PCI something that I did not see because the category it was under( I believe it was system devices) was not expanded.
So, to get things up and running, Insert the CD that has your drivers on it into the computer and make sure you are connected to the internet. Go over to the device manager and right click on the yellow question mark (in this case, PCI). You might have to click on a tab, but there is a button which says something like "update new hardware". Click on this and windows will then search for the drivers either from the internet or the CD. It will then install itself and the yellow question mark will be gone.
Now, the funny thing is that when I got rid of the yellow question mark for the PCI one, I was able to get both sound and bluetooth!!! I now have sound! The sound part was killing me becaue I expanded the category for sound and I had all the codecs installed with no yellow question marks.
For the USB, do the same thing. If it doesnt work, then uninstall the driver and have windows re-install it. Note that I used to have 6 yellow question marks on my USB hub category. I uninstalled and reinstalled the driver and all 6 question marks were gone. I did not have to do repeat the process 6 times.
So please make sure that there are no yellow question marks in the device manager. Expand all the categories and check.
And post here to let me know if this worked for you.
I am going to post this message, but will update. I am currently not at my home computer, but what I posted above should set you in the right direction to get your USB and sound going. Thanks to tnguyen for giving me this idea. -
You need to install the Realtek RTL8169_8139_810xx_663_Audio first, then the Realtek ethernet drivers, and install the HD Audio driver at the end. Atleast I installed in that order and it works fine.

I have read through this thread, and it is great to see how much people are willing to help each other in the face of a stupid company.
I have the dv2617us (T5250, 160GB hdd, intel x3100 graphics, etc.)
I have slipstreamed the SATA drivers into my XP SP2 CD, and XP appears to install (it goes through all of the installation screens and everything). It then enters a continuous reboot cycle.
Not sure if it helps, but the last file loaded when I do safe mode w/ cmd prompt is Mup.sys .
I have been very frustrated with this. Is there anyone with a suggestion out there?
I know that my XP CD is fine. It is a departmental copy, and within the last few weeks, I have (legally) loaded it on 4 desktop pcs. I, of course, burn the slipstreamed one onto a new cd. I have repeated that part a couple of times with the verify write button checked in nlite.
Please help! Thank you very much in advance. -

Look at your device manager and see if there are any yellow question marks. Click on the + signs to expand them. Let us know if you do see any yellows. -
if this doesnt work, try any other Broadcom 4321 drivers
sorry for the late reply, and sorry for the short ones. i havent been getting updates.... i dont know why. and right now i have to run to court. -
It has not successfully booted in XP. It did with the initial Vista factory installation that is now deleted due to drive formatting.
When I boot, it goes to the 'windows did not successfully start' screen where i choose safe mode, start windows normally, or whatever. Within a few seconds after that, I get a flicker of a blue screen of death, and it reboots. Then the cycle repeats... I hope that is enough info. Thank you for your help. -
Mujuman,
Quick question for ya:
In the folder named optional(from your driver pak), there are 2 folders: one for direct X and the other for dual core with windows XP. What exactly does the dual core one do?
THanks -
Hey beatme,
Did you check to make sure you used the correct chipset drivers? Is the computer that is giving you problems the exact same model (same motherboard and all) as the other 4 computers?
If so, you may want to re-format drive and re-install it. Also, it could be that your hard drive is bad or maybe your RAM has unseated a little bit. -
The fact that I was able to use the computer normally in Vista leads me to believe that the hard drive and RAM are ok. I also did a BIOS check where it examines the HDD and RAM: those came up with no problems. I believe that I picked the correct chipset (based off of the vista drivers available at hp.com) as 965 express mobile. Should I be using different SATA drivers? I find it weird that I was able to format it fine, so I think that those drivers are ok... -
-
I guessed the chipset by seeing the drivers available for Vista here:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=2093&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=3557094&lang=en
I guess one way to check it would be just to try to install with a different driver set and see what happens... -
EDIT: It looks like they use the same drivers (with the exception of video drivers of course). -
I ran across this error when trying to boot to windows XP from my dual boot screen. I will tell you how I solved it and also if Muji or Hack can help provide assistance.
My computer is the hp 9500t computer with dual hard drives: C and D
Vista is on C and XP is on D
I used vistabootpro to configure the dual boot screen
I connected an external drive to my computer and left it plugged in. I turned off the computer for the night. USB external harddrive still plugged in to USB port on computer. Now, booting to Vista is no problem. I can leave the external hard drive plugged in.
BUT if I boot to xp, I get an error that says missing or corrupt hal.dll file.
The problem is that I had the external drive plugged in!! If I unplugged it and then from the menu boot screen, chose XP, it loads normally.
If I leave the external drive plugged in, I get the hal.dll error.
So, if you guys are experiencing this problem, this could be a possible fix for you.
Now, muji or hack, do you know why I get that hal.dll error when I have my external USB hard drive plugged in, and then I boot my computer and choose xp from the boot menu? Is there a work around to it?
thanks,

Quick question for anyone still online.
I have XP installed, but for some reason, I can't get the Nvidia Display drivers to completely install. During installation, I just get a black screen, and that's where it stays.
Any advice? -
Hi Everyone

DOWN WITH VISTA -
Hi 05GT
I've had various problems with NVIDIA on both my PCs. I'm not sure about your particular problem but could you provide some more information. Does your graphics card show up as installed in device manager and do any of the control panel components show up? Are you using the driver pack provided on this thread or the pack from the NVIDIA website? -
Well,
I finally got it to install. I was attempting to use the newest NBF Forceware , but I ended up using one of their previously updated drivers, and it works just fine.
Now I'm trying to figure out the COPROCESSOR. I still have it showing as not being installed.. not really even sure what it is.
I've posted a screenshot.... anyone else solve this problem? I've installed the latest and greatest nForce and it's still there.
-
When you open the Processor tab on device manager do two identical processors show up (representing each core of your processor) or only one? If both cores are showing it might be a device is being mis-identified. AMD has their own driver software which you can download from their website as well as a whole heap of CPU utilities and monitors you can use to gather more information on your processor configuration. Much better than intel!
Good Luck -
Both cores are showing up in device manager. I'll check the AMD site to see if there isn't a fix there.
Thanks. -
Im having a problem with my NVIDIA 8400M GS. I couldn't install the official NVIDIA drivers so i downloaded a patched inf version. They work fine except the NVIDIA and Windows XP Display control panel doesn't set a maximum resolution (i can go up to 3840 x 2400) and I can pick 8 bit colour depth (which usually isn't available). Its playing havoc with my games. I tried the driver from the driver pack provided on this thread and it fixed the problem until i rebooted. Any ideas?
-
reinstall the driver from the driver pack, reboot. make sure it works, reboot again. make sure it still works. -
Hi, first post here
I've been trying to reformat my brother's dv6144tx. It was preloaded with xp and I am trying to reinstall a new legit installation. I tried the slipstream method with nlite but I get the same hard disk not found error message after choosing a windows xp installation.
In nlite, I chose the (Mobile ICH8M-E/M) SATA driver, but that did not work. I then checked the hp driver download webpage and saw that they have a sata AHCI driver. However, their download is a floppy installer and I am not sure how I can extract that file to slipstream with nlite instead.
Regardless, it mentions a SATA AHCI Controller (Mobile ICH7M) SATA driver instead which I also tried (from the SATA folder from the drivers uploaded by Hackez). This also gave me the same error message.
What else could I try? I Or is there something I'm missing? Thanks. -

all of your drivers can be found on hp's website. the drivers from this driver pack are not even 50% guaranteed to work on your laptop (different hardware). you can also skip the initial slipstream step by going into your BIOS and turning off native SATA support. then after installing XP and your drivers, install the ICH7M driver.
the ICH7M driver is the SATA driver for the dv6000/dv9000 series
the ICH8M driver is the SATA driver for the dv6500/dv9500 series. -

Man what a weekend of formatting and installing drivers! I managed to get Vista reinstalled from the Vista anywhere dvd and all the drivers loaded in about two hours. Next up was XP on another drive partition. This too went pretty good as I had slipstreamed sp2 and the sata drivers onto a new cd. I managed to get the dual boot record setup with the help of EasyBCD and went back to XP to finish the install. I finally got it all installed with no driver conflicts last night about 9pm. UGH!! Man I spent all of Sunday on the laptop lol, but I now have a dual boot dv9500t with Vista Home Premium and XP Pro.
The only problem now is I have to sort out the wireless connection in XP. For some reason I cant connect but I'll sort it out. Does anybody know offhand if XP supports WPA2? Vista wireless connection works flawlessly but XP I cant seem to get online. I need to run windows update on XP then I can burn a drive image and I'll be set. Any advice would be appreciated. -
I downloaded the driver install package from Intel, and unpacked it using universal extractor. Then I picked the 'graphics' directory. In nlite, it lists the driver I picked as
Intel Corporation
PNP
Display
6.14.10.4864
so that looks ok.
I had to remove some of the other drivers to make it all fit on a CD. I recreated the .7z file that contains audio drivers to shrink it down. That one seemed to unpack correctly, so I think that was ok.
Anyway, I get the same problem as I did before. It goes through all of the setup stuff, the last big thing it does is 'registering components' or something like that. It then jumps to a couple of minutes left and removes temp files, and then reboots.
The reboot then again fails at the same place.
I am pulling my hair out on this one. Any help would really be appreciated! -

it sounds like a good idea to slipstream all those other drivers, but actually its not...

Hello everybody , dont know if this is the right place to post this. I have a dv6599 laptop and i just downgrade from vista to xp with 100% success. I can help anybody to do this for his system if he wants any help.

I have burn the windows xp sp2 + sata driver using the nlite..
Then while installing windows with the slipstreamed disc, 15 min before the completion of xp setup I get this error :

Setup continues smoothly when clicking "OK," but I can't connect to the internet when setup is complete, nor can I install any drivers.
What the **** is this??????
I have burned 3 disc n all give the same error..
My Windows xp sp2 cd from which i created slipstreamed disc is exactly fine,, To confirm my win xp sp2 disc is error free,,,i installed xp using my win xp sp2 cd in my desktop after that just to confirm that there is not any missing files in my xp cd..And its installed perfectly....

what is Recovery Disks?
how can i burn it? -
The recovery disks allow you to return your laptop to factory settings, aka when you received the laptop. It will erase all of your data when you do a restore so be careful. Just so you know, they are telling you to create this recovery disks, in case you have a problem with the clean install and need something to fall back onto. -
should i make the recovey cd when the computer is new?
if i have the computer for 1 year and i have lots of garbage, it is good to make the recovery cd now? -
-
As 05GT said, you can create the recovery disks no matter how long down the road you are, as long as you haven't already done a clean install. As long as the HP utility and the recovery partition is there you will be able to burn the Recovery Disks. Also, just so you know, It will only allows you to burn 1 set of Recovery Disks, but don't worry because it will verify the creation of them, and if they are still bad you can call HP and they will send you a set for free (as long as the laptop is still under warranty I presume).
